Lovely hotel, middle of the range. Staff excellent, room generous and good bathroom. Pool area lovely and quiet. Would stay again for sure.

Buffet was average. There was a wedding happening in the reception room which may have taken the glory from the guest buffet. Otherwise perfectly fine.

It was clean and neat. Loved the traditional decorations. Loved how attentive the staff are. Great food options and an amazing property . One of a kind view of great stupa’s one of the main reasons for my stay and the hotel didn’t disappoint

Average food, We visited in 2018, now the area of the hotel is shrunk. Very compact. Banquet hall was closer to our rooms. Guests were using same hallway till midnight.

The rooms at this hotel were very comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and provided excellent service throughout our stay. We booked on a room-only basis, but enjoyed dinner from the hotel's à la carte menu, which was very good. We also joined the breakfast buffet the next morning and were impressed with the variety and quality of the food. Everything we tried was delicious. If you are looking for a clean hotel with good food options and welcoming staff, I would definitely recommend this hotel for a relaxing vacation.

Breakfast buffet was good and had a variety of Sri Lankan foods. Kola kanda and Halapa were great! Rooms and bathrooms were clean.

As in many Sri Lankan hotels, bathrooms were small and dark. Bedspreads looked old and gloomy.

I made my reservation through Booking.com, where I specifically booked a Deluxe Triple Room. However, upon arrival, I was assigned a Double Room while being charged at the Triple Room rate, which was also higher than the price originally displayed at the time of booking. There was a noticeable discrepancy between the confirmed Booking.com rate and the amount charged by the hotel. When I raised this concern, the team acknowledged that an error had occurred on their part and later adjusted the amount from USD 168.07 to USD 143.05 under the half-board rate. While I appreciate the adjustment, it is important to highlight that the revised rate of USD 143.05 corresponds to a Deluxe Triple Room as per Booking.com, I was provided with only a Double Room. What is particularly disappointing is that this issue was neither communicated nor clarified by the front office team at the time of check-in. It was only addressed after I brought it up, and even then, the matter was handled without full transparency. As first-time guests, we had high expectations; however, this experience has unfortunately affected our overall impression of the hotel. Such inconsistencies and lack of proactive communication do not reflect the standards one would expect from a property of this level.

Die Lage ist einfach super. Direkt am See gelegen. Das Gebäude ist in die Jahe gekommen, hat aber seinen Charme behalten. Der Pool ist erstaunlich groß, so dass man hier richtig schwimmen kann. Das Frühstück ist vielfältig und reichhaltig.

Das Hotel ist ruhig an einem der vielen Seen gelegen. Das Personal war hilfsbereit und freundlich. Da das Hotel doch ein wenig abgelegen lag, haben wir uns entschlossen, auch dort zu essen. Das Abendessen in Form eines Buffets war hervorragend. Für uns das Highlight im Hotel.

Wir wurden einem anderen Zimmer zugewiesen wie wir ursprünglich gebucht hatten. Dieses war wohl geräumig, aber völlig abgewohnt. Der Schrank war überall defekt. Der Duschkopf im Badezimmer konnte in der Höhe nicht verstellt werden, da die Halterung defekt war. Zudem war der Ventilator extrem laut. Von einem gebuchten Delux Superior Zimmer kann hier keine Rede sein. Wir können unser Zimmer nicht weiterempfehlen.

Frühstück und Abendessen war sehr gut, ebenso idyllisch war die Lage des Hotels.

Die Zimmer sind schon sehr indie Jahre gekommen und lassen an vergangene Glanzzeiten erinnern.

Great location with the view of the reservoir. Staff was very helpful and friendly, everyone from the front desk to the restaurant. Had the chance to meet and greet the senior management during the Christmas dinner. Good experience overall !

Room decor made it look dark and the toilets can benefit from an upgrade.

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the condition of the hotel room we stayed in on 20 th decmber 2025 at Heritage Hotel As this is a 4-star hotel, we expected a high standard of cleanliness and service. Unfortunately, the room did not meet these expectations. We experienced the following issues: No toothbrush was provided in the room 306 Towels, blanket, and bed sheets appeared used and not properly cleaned The bathroom had a strong unpleasant smell, especially when the toilet was flushed Overall hygiene and room maintenance were poor While we appreciate the gesture of offering cakes and buns as an apology, this was not the purpose of our stay. We chose your hotel expecting quality service, comfort, and proper standards, not temporary compensation for serious issues related to cleanliness and hygiene. These conditions caused significant discomfort and disappointment, and they do not reflect the standards of a 4-star hotel. We kindly request that this matter be taken seriously and that appropriate corrective action be taken. We also expect a proper explanation and suitable resolution for this experience.

A decent tourist hotel that was mostly comfortable. Unfortunately our stay coincided with a very destructive cyclone which limited our ability to see local sights or even leave the hotel. The hotel and staff did their best to accommodate a lot of frustrated and frightened guests. We appreciate their efforts. We wish Sri Lanka the best on these very difficult times.

Not enough western food options available for breakfast or dinner.

The hotel has a superb location beside the lake Thissa Wewa. Whilst it is close to the main historic sights, one needs to hire a tuktuk to get around: the hotel was fantastic in assisting with such arrangements. My room was quiet and comfortable.

My room was on the ground floor and people regularly passed the window, reducing its privacy.

La piscine et le petit déjeuner sont « top ». Rien à redire au niveau de l’accueil no de la propreté.

L’hôtel fait un peu « vieillot » et mériterait un rafraîchissement ainsi que l’acquisition de nouveau mobilier.

Lo mejor del alojamiento, sin duda, la piscina : Enorme y preciosa. Las media pensión también muy bien, no había mucha variedad, pero muy rico todo, sobre todo la sopa de gengibre!

La habitación muy deteriorada, y el baño igual, falta de mantenimiento. Paredes con humedad, manchas... Está cutre, pero bueno, funciona todo, es más estético que otras cosa, pero me parece caro calidad precio. Está más dirigido a los locales que a los turistas de fuera.

Lovely boutique hotel, has a fabulous pool and outdoor area, great views from the dining area. very quiet location. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. What sets this place apart is the staff (and owner), they were so accommodating, incredibly friendly and helpful. They offer cooking demonstrations which we arranged just after arriving mid-afternoon, said to go relax in the pool and came out later and offered to push out the time so not to rush us. Highly recommend. Food was delicious.

Airco maakte erg veel lawaai, en het was er over het algemeen niet zo proper (vlekken op lakens, matras, handdoeken,…). Eten in de avond was lauw(buffet). Het lijkt me dat het hotel wat op zijn retour is… Prijs/kwaliteit had ik beter verwacht.

Perfectly located right across from Thisa Wewa, the sunset views are absolutely magical. The hotel was very well maintained and clean, and the rooms were both cozy and spacious. The staff was really helpful and friendly. Would definitely come back!

The staff and management were excellent, check in was efficient and was greeted with a smile, also had the manager welcome us to the hotel. The dinner and breakfast were excellent.

Staff were Friendly and nice. Outside the property is nice. Food is good. We got a room in ground floor overlooking a neighbor house. Fence only had few trees and some sort of a roofing material (takaran sheets). People are constantly walking by the room and looking inside. Because of it, we were unable to leave the blinds open. Hotel is run down, old age shows in room and bathroom. Bathroom fan was loud and my son was scared to go in . I had to ask for extra TP. I had 1/10 of a TP roll and 1/2 TP roll to start. Horrible room. We were unable to figure out how to operate the TV. Two remotes should come with an instruction manual. It’s an ok place to stay. For the price, not worth it.

Actually, we arrived at the Hotel late evening, and we wanted to have dinner half an hour before the closure. However, we had the opportunity to dine leisurely, and the Restaurant Manager himself stayed until we finished, attending to our needs. So kind staff, excellent service

From arrival to departure, starting from the front office, the staff treated us very well. They were courteous and considerate. CEO Mr. Sumith Wijesinghe's very attentive nature is commendable. We had our dinner at the restaurant, and it was a blend of different Sri Lankan flavours with an international touch. Although it was a buffet dinner, Mr. Sumith arranged some of the dishes on the table. That was a different experience. Throughout, he and the F&B manager were looking after the guests and fulfilling their needs. The swimming pool was well located, but we were unable to use it due to the heavy rain. This hotel gives you a homely feeling because of their friendly nature.

Truly the best place to stay in Anuradhapura! The service was exceptional, and the staff were warm and welcoming. The highlight for us was definitely the stunning pool area, we spent hours relaxing and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. I also had a full-body massage at the Ayurvedic spa, and it was absolutely amazing, deeply soothing and refreshing. I’ve tried spa treatments in the Maldives and in other hotels, but this one truly stood out. It was better than any I’ve experienced before. A truly memorable experience. I’d love to come back and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Anuradhapura!

I had a pleasant stay at this hotel, with comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and excellent service. Upon request, baby food is available from the hotel. The room was clean and tidy, and the bathroom was also very clean. Baby cots are available, but you need to request them when booking the room. We look forward to staying at Heritage Hotel again during our future visits to Anuradhapura. A big thank you to the entire hotel staff for making our stay truly wonderful.

This was one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in Anuradhapura. The front office staff were very kind and helpful. The rooms were nice, clean, tidy, and spacious, and the bathroom was also very clean. The hotel is centrally located, making it easy to get around and visit all the main attractions in Anuradhapura. We truly enjoyed our time here. It was a great hotel at a great price. We would definitely stay here again if we return.

It is a good hotel with very good rooms and very good food that I can recommend to others. The first thing to start with at Heritage was the guys at the reception who helped us a lot. Thanks to their help, we were able to manage our business in no time. Also, the bell boy helped us a lot.The restaurant staff was very friendly and welcoming. The best hotel in Anuradhapura. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's located in a calm area, near Tisa Wewa Tank, with many religious sites accessible within a 10-minute drive. The food is delicious, and the rooms are spacious. The bathroom is compact but includes both hot and cold showers. It's a place I would definitely visit again. Great value for money.

I really like the staff at Heritage Hotel. They are very friendly and arranged everything for us in the best possible way. A good hotel to recommend for staying in Anuradhapura.

We had originally booked a twin room (room only) but asked for a double room with a queen-size bed. The hotel staff, most obligingly, made the alteration for us, and we really appreciated their support! Even though our booking was without meals, we had dinner at their buffet, which was superb and provided plenty of choice. We ordered breakfast the following morning from the menu, and it was absolutely tasty! The swimming pool was great, and we liked being there very much. Additionally, the location is nice, just in front of Thissa Wewa, with a calm and nice view. In total, it was a great stay with good service. I would highly recommend it!

One of the rooms had a terrible drain smell but the staff acted quickly once they were advised . The pool and indoor bar are rather tacky . The pool bar would be better with a ceiling fan ; the indoor bar is more likened to a men’s play room .
