Reviewed Jul 19, 2026The cottage was clean and bedding/beds where comfortable.
The fire hot tub was terrible, no matter how long the fire burned it did not get warm enough to use. The indoor fireplace smoked us out the first night, even though they recommended to keep the closest window open it defeated the purpose as its winter and the cold air coming is made the place even colder. The gas water heater ran out on the first morning and we resorted to cold showers before it was replaced. It was not worth it staying there.

Reviewed Apr 29, 2026Absolutely gorgeous location and very communicative and proactive hostess. This was a stress-free booking and I'd definitely come back for a personal stay instead of only staying the night for work.
The only thing that could be improved on (and I really had to think hard to come up with something) was that there is an indoor braai that isn't sectioned off from the house, which means all the rooms smell quite smokey.

Reviewed Apr 17, 2026We really loved the small details. The hot-tub was pre-lit, so was nice and warm on arrival. We had more than enough wood. The cottage was perfect for entertaining inside and outside 🙂
Some boardgames might be nice, but other than that, no complaints!
The facilities available for a large group are amazing.Having 3 braai areas depending on the weather is perfect.The hot tub and pool were great and well used.
Having a pizza oven as well as well as ice maker in the courtyard entertainment area was a huge bonus.
The fridge in the kitchen having ice making on demand was such a nice luxury as well .
Well appointed kitchen with all you need for entertaining a large group .
Having 3 bathrooms for a family of 7 was greatly needed and appreciated.
Having 3 areas to eat as a family was also lovely allowing us to celebrate my 60th Birthday in style.
We loved having the deer,Springboks,ostrich and sheep close by .
Two small things
The shower heads on all the showers need to be updated.
The taps in the scullery basin need to be tightened as they are super loose and the hot water flow is erratic because of this

Reviewed Oct 26, 2025Love the area and surrounds. Annelize was brilliant - super efficient, helpful and accommodating. The layout of the cottage worked well, in addition to the outside facilities. Beds were super comfortable. We had a great time.
The flies are very off-putting and the cottage needs a good, proper spring clean!

Lots of dry wood for the hot tub that has a fabulous view over farm (deer and springbok). Pool was lovely to cool down in

Reviewed Dec 7, 2024Location was key for us as we had a team competing in W2W, the cottage was perfect! The outlook over the fields with the impala and springbok was magic. Unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy the hot tub but it was beautiful!
A clothes line to hang wet towels and bath mats out on would be a great help, as with the showers not having doors, things got
Very wet. A bigger bin outside would also help.

Reviewed Jun 13, 2024Scenic, peaceful and private. Beautiful view of the sheep and farmland. The hot tub was lovely and there are two fireplace areas. One indoor and outdoor. Also love that there was a potjie pot provided.
The property was lovely, peaceful, clean and safe. We had our youngest daughter (5) with us and it was exactly what we wanted for the weekend. The host was easy to deal with and the house had everything we needed. Sitting on the patio at night with the braai and the stars was perfect. Xena the dog was also lovely and we enjoyed hanging out with her :)

Reviewed May 2, 2024I actually didn't wanted to leave the Sunday. It was peaceful, beautiful, clean. I've booked a few places on booking.com then when I get there its far worst than what was advertised. But Ou Muel Farm exceeded allllll my expectations. I will definitely go again and again and again. Lots of Blessings
I'm a person with a disability, getting in and out of the kol-kol / hottub 🔥 was a big struggle because of that steep step and nowhere to hold on to, getting in and out.

Reviewed Apr 23, 2024Very pretty property. Nice to have buck grazing in an adjoining field. Hot tub in a great location on the veranda, under an oak tree. Took a couple of walks down to the river, along with the friendly resident dog.

It is quite challenging to get into the hot tub without a rail to hold on to and the step to get in - is very low.

It was very clean, had beautiful views and the friendly farm Doggo was definitely the cherry on the cake! Would 110% recommend anyone to stay at the cottage and Erika was a good host from the moment we made a booking.

Reviewed Feb 21, 2023Everything! The house is just amazing, the facilities, the comforts and all the amenities! The hot tub was already warm on arrival, bonus, and there was ample braai wood. The resident dogs are amazing! My kids loved them and they gave the place such a homey feel.
