The views are absolutely amazing. The restaurant next door is one of the best. The host was really sweet and arranged everything we asked for. The property itself is blessed to be located where it is. The rooms were huge.
Nothing.
The room is spacious and has a nice view of the ocean and close to Boca and Mismaloya
need bathroom improvement
The room is spacious and has a nice view of the ocean. The balcony is good size. The staff are very friendly. The restaurant next door is good. The bus stop is right in front to go to the center.
The noise from the road at night and the sound of ocean waves hitting the rocks can be loud. There is not much nearby.
We love the view, the location (close to Boca and Mismaloya) and most of all the friendly kind and helpful hotel staff whose name is Lucy. Lucy not only responded to all our requests but also showed she cared in many ways.
The view and opportunity to see sea life was the only saving grace
I was questioned rigorously when I requested a fresh towel as if I asked for a treasure chest full of gold. Listing said breakfast included : The sneaky breakfast is good tag means, good when you pay 30 USD per person in the adjoining restaurant. There was a coffee maker. A simple yet gracious thing would have been to provide at least 5 packets of coffee. Most hotels that charge 100+/ night do so. Just a bar of soap in the shower. Got a goop covered used bottle when requested. I'm fairly certain there were bed bugs in one of the beds. Definitely not going here again.
The hotel had a million dollar view with a constant parde of boats, ships and wales right out front. The restaurant was superb with many loyal followers driving from Puerto Vallarta for a meal. The general area is known for reasonably priced upper end restaurants which we tried most. The sunsets are the most striking. Very close to
No dislikes, the property was a value and is in process of being updated.
Ocean views
Nothing
Lucy was very helpful. The no kids policy was great.
I could not walk along beach and there was no pool
Everything but the traffic on Hwy.200. Watched whales from patio and balcony. Lucy was great! Food at restaurant next door was delicious!
Road noise
It was located above the ocean front during the humpback migration. Absolutely breath taking and wonderful view. I was upgraded for a room with a kitchen and I was very comfortable!
Nothing
It was right over the ocean! It was spacious and clean! We saw whales from the beautiful patio! It had an amazing restaurant next door! The staff was really great! We will be coming back with family again for sure!
It was on highway and traffic noise
Fabulous location right along the coast. It was whale migration season and we saw many whales passing by. Accommodation was basic but comfortable. Restaurant attached to hotel is fabulous. Very kind and friendly staff.
Note that if you're a walker, it is not possible to walk anywhere because of the rocky coast and narrow road. Buses though are way to catch to great locations.
Everything
Nothing
Lucy is above and beyond! She was so friendly and accomidating. The hotel is going thru some changes and there's not much there except a nice spacious room, a comfortable bed, good pillows. Lucy was absolutely amazing! she makes this 6 star a 9!
no pool far from most things. no food, although I understand they're getting a really good restaurant soon!
It was spectacular view of ocean with magical twist and Lucy who was really lovely and kind and very helpful I defenetly would love to retain. And room was super clean and bed was comfortable and room was specious.
Best view of ocean and sunset
Everything was wonderful and would return again.
Amazing view, friendly and flexible staff!
Amazing views and scenery.
The view was spectacular. The serenity of the place was also magical.
We were pleasantly surprised by how amazing this stay was! BEAUTIFUL view, great value for your money, and super convenient location by a 24/7 Oxxo and near bus stops. The entire property felt so private and intimate. There's a DELICIOUS restaurant downstairs (a little pricey, but we think the food was worth it). The staff are all SO friendly. They helped us call taxis and gave us activity recommendations. Keep in mind this location is farther from the airport and Zona Romantica, but it was a perfect central location for where we had to go for our friend's wedding festivities. We mainly took the bus to main cities/tourist spots, and took taxis/Ubers to the airport or when we short on time. We would definitely come back and stay at the Traditional Sierra Leone and absolutely recommend it to anyone!!
Not a dislike but be aware that a couple staff members only spoke Spanish, so we had to use Google translate, but it was easy to communicate still. Our shower may have had a leak and there was water on the floor into the main room, but we're not certain where the water came from/how it happened. We wish there were towel racks/hooks in the bathroom. The lock to our room was a little tricky, you had to push up at the right angle, but it wasn't the end of the world.
If you want to just relax and listen and watch the ocean, this is the spot. The sunsets are spectacular. Oxxo is a two minute walk and so is the bus. The hosts are wonderful and things move at a relaxing pace. Wonderful place to just relax.
Room had everything we needed. Staff was excellent and very helpful with any questions/concerns. Restaurant was amazing. View was amazing, we got to see rays, turtles, whales all from our balcony.
The trucks driving by at night were sometimes distracting but most of the time the ocean drowned out the noise. The stairs to the 3rd floor, but that's only because I am scared of heights.
Wonderful staff, great location close to Boca de Tomatlán away from the crowds. Amazing view and a truly world class restaurant. Once we tasted Chef Marco's food; we didn't eat anywhere else! We will be back.
Couldn't stay longer!!
What a wonderful place to stay!! Everything exceeded our expectations! Lucy greeted us and she was very kind! The entire hotel looked out to the sea with a large sitting area/restaurant right in the water. The room she gave us was amazing! She upgraded us to a king room with an extra bed on the top floor with a balcony and a kitchen! The sliding doors and windows looked out over 180 degrees! The balcony was spacious and comfortable. The hotel was in a great location near Mismaloyes beach. Such a great value! The hotel was a classic hotel with Brick and tile roof and wood furniture.
Everything! The room was large, clean and comfortable, with views of the ocean. I have never felt as relaxed as I did here. Thank you to the staff for being so friendly and helpful. The local bus stops just outside and is reliable and frequent - it’s great!
Nothing!
A lovely hotel about 30 minutes from the main city. We took the local bus to and fro everyday without a problem. Our room was huge and included a little kitchen and a private bathroom. Our host, Lucy, was warm and welcoming. There is a restaurant at the hotel and an Oxxo (local 7/11, Circle K) a 5 minute walk away. Our favorite part of the hotel was the stunning ocean view from the patio/balcony. We enjoyed watching birds and dolphins at breakfast and the sunset and a sky full of stars at night.
The noise from vehicles on the highway can be quite loud at night, but the sound of the waves is equally loud and we were able to sleep well, tired out from our days exploring the city. The water pressure in the shower could be better. It would be nice if there were some hooks on the bathroom/bedroom walls to hang up towels/clothes.
Location is right on the coast. Great for watching the sunrise and sunset over the sea and for looking for wildlife. Nice welcome and farewell from our hosts. Excellent restaurant on site (closed on Mondays). Michael, the chef, made us an amazing dinner including a special vegetarian option for me. Very impressive. Close to Boca de Tomatlan and water taxis to isolated coastal spots like Yelapa.
Noise from the road could be a problem for light sleepers, but we slept well as bed was very comfy and we were very tired after long day travelling from UK.
Quietness, three view and perfect room.
Beds need new mattress.
Imagine sweeping ocean views and falling asleep to the sound of waves. Simply sitting on the terrazza was a joy, and spotted 4 humpback whales. 100 m away is an Oxxo convenience store with supplies.
Location of Mismoloya. Family run hotel, 6 large suites only. Kitchenette has everything we need. Far enough from the hustle of Puerto Vallarta, but easily accessible public bus ride, right outside the hotel grounds. Owners onsite, mature, responsible, kind. Oceanside dining, right next door, El Caracol. When on terrace all you hear are ocean waves and bird song. Pacific sunsets some of the I've seen in 40 years of travel from every suite and the restaurant. Well shaded, cool breezes.
Patio chaises and chairs could be upgraded. Surprisingly, the highway noise in back was not bothersome but may be for others. Having said that every hotel, from very expensive to budget has the same highway running along the back, so don't let this comment stop you from spending at least a few nights here.
I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights total, 2 nights in a room on the 2nd floor with no kitchenette, and 2 nights in room #5 on the 3rd floor with a small kitchenette. Both views from the balcony were breathtaking, but of course the higher room had a better view. I could spot manta rays, turtles, and dolphins from my balcony. It faces west so the sun doesn't hit the balcony until about 4pm (I stayed in March). I caught an Uber here from the Malecon, but once I was here, my Uber didn't work so would need to call a taxi or take the bus to explore the next towns. The area is quite secluded. There is a restaurant called Caracol attached to the hotel with delicious food, but they are not always open, sometimes it closed early and also closed the Monday/Tuesday I was there. There is an OXXO convience store up the road, but the food selection there is very limited and you have to walk along the highway to get there, which was a bit dangerous. I liked that the hotel provided a jug of water in the room and the room with the kitchenette had kitchenware to cook with. Overall, I had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back! The views are absolutely gorgeous and the rooms are so relaxing.
There isn't much to complain about, just a few minor things... the bathroom did have an odor, but I noticed that with other hotels in Puerto Vallarta as well, so I think it's an issue with the sewage system overall. There is hot water but the handles are backwards so at first I thought there was no hot water. The wifi but sometimes be very slow and reception not good in the rooms. Other than these minor things which didn't really bother me, everything was fantastic!
The location!!! The ocean view stood out to us as the best feature of this accommodation overall!
Not much mot to like. No comment at this time!
The views were spectacular. Daily sightings of aquatic life. Easy access by bus to PV and small villages. The owners and staff were attentive and helpful. Wonderful people. The restaurant is in a beautiful location and the food was delicious. OXO store very close by for small purchases.
Loved everything.
Location, but you really should splurge for a top floor room.
Road noise, but I found the waves almost drown it out, at least when I was there.
All
No
Right on the water! Wonderful listening to the surf nonstop. And what a view every moment. Best to reserve those rooms with a balcony on second and third floor.
South of town and could use some updating but hey, that’s why it’s cheaper
Fabulous little hotel! We had a massive room with a balcony facing the sea where we watched pelicans and dolphins go by. The restaurant is absolutely delicious - great breakfasts and a wonderful 3 course Valentine's dinner. We also watched the whales one morning going by while we were having breakfast. It is out of town, so nice and quiet but the bus is very easy to catch for a ride to one of the small villages or into PV. Will looking at getting a car next time to visit even more of the villages. Thank you so much to all the staff - everyone was very accommodating and helpful!!
Beautiful views
No coffee until 9am
The location is out of the way of the hustle and bustle of town. I rented a car, so it made it easier for myself however, it is a very long drive into central PV. The view was absolutely stunning. I was able to watch the dolphins in the morning while I ate breakfast and see the whales. The staff was amazing. Anything I needed. They were able to help me with very kind.
The beds were a little on the hard side. However, I slept like a baby with the doors open in the screenshot, listening to the waves crash against the rocks.
The restaurant was excellent and the hotel staff was fantastic...very helpful with directions and calling for me excellent English. Gracias Seniorita Lucy!
i made my own breakfast, and ate it on the table on the patio outside the room. the air and the closeness of the ocean was overwhelming and you had the feeling of having the property to yourself as you rarely see anyone, very private, the bus stop is right beside the property and a good 24 hour store nearby.
mosquitos at nightime
The size of the rooms and the views from your balcony cannot be beaten. You are right on the water and every single hour you are met with the beautiful ocean and you can whale watch from your balcony. There is an OXXO store nearby that you can walk to for small items like water and snacks. I chose this hotel specifically to get some work done before joining my family at a larger event in PV later in the week so I wanted something quiet, clean, remote, and relaxing with a kitchen.
The property itself is older and there are clear areas that are not complete or abandoned. Not sure if they are remodeling or just keeping accessible what is still built up, but it was a little weird. Nonetheless, once you have checked in and seen your views, then you almost forget that part. You also have to account for your location being a way out from PV or even Mismaloya or Boca De Tomatlan. Because you are off the highway and there are no sidewalks, it is not safe to walk around outside of the property with the oncoming cars so you have to plan when you do leave. The good thing is that the local bus is there to take you around 10 pesos or you can have the property call you a cab. You are 30 mins away from Puerto Vallarta Old Town and Zona Romantica.
The beautiful views, you can see some whales if you are lucky from your balcony. Nice and friendly staff and a nice restaurant. Thank you !
Nothing
I enjoyed the terrace and the views - endless ocean - right outside my sliding door. Just perfect. What makes this place special is their owner/manager - super helpful hints & recommendations for the area. Really had an awesome stay +there is an OXXO next door - for any last minute purchases.
keep in mind it is about a 30-minute commute from the hustle & bustle of PV. I preferred the serenity & quietness of the place and didn't mind the distance from Malecon.
Got an amazing deal and the room and view is fantastic. The room was spacious, clean, and lovely. The view is fantastic from both the room and terrace in front of your room. Saw whales several times a day from the terrace and at the hotel restaurant. The restaurant is amazing. Usually don’t like chilaquiles, but these ones were great! There’s a kitchen in the room and an Oxxo 100 meters up the street, so you can cook some quesadillas and chorizo if you don’t want to eat out at the restaurant every meal. You’re also just between Boca de Tomatlán and Mismaloya, and you can easily hop on the bus (which comes every 12min) between Boca de Tomatlán and Puerto Vallarta (Zona Romántica).
There isn’t much to complain about. Maybe if you stay on the lower floor, you might have a little less privacy for your room as people can walk by, but you have curtains.
The service The staff took care ofbme well The food was great The view was stunning
No water No coffee
Amazing views to enjoy while you relax or dine. Food in the restaurant was also wonderful and wonderful staff.
Near the road can provide some loud traffic at times but the ocean makes up for it.
What a special surprise to see whales from my balcony both mornings. And less than 200 meters away.
Occasional noise from construction on adjoining property.
The views ,, The sea front, Whales go by the rear deck , size of room , Nice beds and clean showers , kitchenette fridge, A/C , i can go on,, but i really like Carlos and his wife Lucy the owners. They took care of us and everything possible as far as help, and information around the city.
No complaints. Jerome velasquez 12/23
The restaurant on site was exceptional! Owners were kind enough to let us bring our vehicle behind the locked gate as we were carrying bicycles.
Hands down the ocean view from your balcony is amazing.
The WiFi is pretty sketchy. I actually had my phone security message me to disconnect from their sites immediately as it was not safe. In all my travels I have never received a message like this. That has me concerned. The kitchen supplies are basic, the OXXO close by is overpriced, so bring your stuff. There are no mosquito nets, though it says there are on Booking.com. There are lots of bugs, bring bug spray. You have to close the veranda doors, no screens. Little black beetles (?) came out at night, had to remove them from my bed multiple times before going to sleep!!
It is in a beautiful setting. Overlooks the Bay of Banderas and you're only about 15 feet away from hearing and seeing the waves crash into the rocky cliffs. It is mesmerizing. The hotel is not completely finished on the lower levels, but the room where we stayed was just fine. It was on the terrace and gave us lots of patio space. The hosts are very welcoming and will assist with whatever you may need. English communication skills are great. Purified water is provided as well. There is a restaurant on site and the bus stops right in front of the hotel.
It is next to the highway so that does cause some noise issues, especially during the night. If you are a light sleeper, you'd need earplugs for sure.
Breakfast? What a joke. There was no place to eat breakfast unless I took a taxi to go elsewhere (or a bus).
If I had read anywhere that I had to climb up a spiral wrought iron fence with two bags to access my room, I would not have booked. and the location was horrible. If I had known it was impossible to get an uber/didi car to come pick me up, I would have booked elsewhere.
Views
Random hours of kitchen, opened at different times daily
Good view and quite.
All the bugs. Maybe put in a mosquito net as an additional option.
I was excited to stay at Sierra Leon! The room was spacious, clean and beautiful. The most amazing in this hotel was the view! The waterfront looked fantastic, I enjoyed beautiful sunsets and meeting sunrises while drinking coffee on my balcony. I slept like a baby there listening to the lullaby of ocean waves. I would gladly come back and experience more of this paradise.
If you are looking for a hidden gem in Peurta Vallarta with awesome hospitality, look no further, this is the spot for you. They also have an awesome restaurant 😍 And the ocean is within inches. Very charming place.
Nothing
Beautiful view from the room. Very spacious and the staff were accommodating to extra requests, allowing me to leave my luggage the next day for a while. Easy to reach from PV!
The noise from the highway at night can be quite loud.
We had breakfast at the little restaurant attached to the hotel and it was phenomenal! We were a large party and everyone raved about their breakfast.
Excellent views.
Absolutely fabulous!! The amazing view, the sound of the ocean waves, a few minutes from fabulous beaches (10 pesos for a bus to get there- the stop is right outside), great AC and water pressure in the shower, and the owners (Lucy and Carlos) were so hospitable! I felt safe as a solo traveler and Lucy even offered me a ride to the airport shuttle. I loved everything about this place!!
Only that I couldn’t stay longer
Big room, nice view and staffs are great
Location is not great. Far away from the center and the airport.
What a treat. Incredible rooms. Spacious, wide panoramic views of the bay, massive balcony, a king and queen size bed (I think those are the sizes), well maintained property and friendly service from Lucy and staff, and one of the best vantage points for sunsets. Even spotted some turtles from the balcony! It's maybe a 15 minute bus ride from Zona Romantica in PV. This is cliff side, with the road and the Sierra Madres behind you. A quiet area with the mountains and all its little trails. 100% recommend staying at least one night here during your vacation. There is a bus stop right in front. There's a restaurant onsite as well, but I didn't eat there. There's an Oxxo just a few hundred feet away for your basic needs. Walk/hike to Mismaloya and even Boca de tomatlan (about 20-40 mins either direction depending on your fitness level), or just grab a bus for 10 pesos. Grateful to Lucy for allowing me to check in very early. There are six suites, and while I was there I didn't notice anyone else there besides staff. The only thing I would suggest is to provide a microwave in the room. I will come back here any time I go back to PV.
The view is spectacular when you walk outside. You wan walk outside the front view to the ocean and restaurant is in same location. To the right the food was soo Good!!! The rooms were big Gad kitchen bathroom has front and rear entrances to the room
The street view looks like it’s not a good hotel but the inside is perfect. I was double thinking. If we should stay becáuse of the outside. You have to book online if it’s late at night
