Coconut Cottage - Hiriketiya Beach

Fantastic location just a short stroll down the road to the beach. Felt secure behind gates with a spacious interior and exterior. Outside offered lovely seating in the shade. Bedrooms were comfortable, very clean and effective air con.

Location was excellent for beach, restaurants, etc. - less than a 5 minute walk. The cottage itself was lovely and had everything we needed, two double bedrooms, living area, kitchen, toilet and outdoor shower. Although the pool is more of a plunge pool, the children still enjoyed it and it was great for cooling down. We enjoyed seeing the monkeys and chipmunks from the garden. Andy was welcoming and showed us around before heading off.

Parts of the outdoor area could do with a little TLC but it definitely didn't detract from what was a lovely stay.

Alles, een ontzettend mooi huis, heel stijlvol ingericht, buitendouche, fijne bedden, airco, waaiers. Perfecte locatie. De eigenaar Andy is echt heel vriendelijk en ook zo mooi hoe hij en zijn vriendin zich inzetten voor de zwerfhonden.

Misschien wat meer verduistering van de voorste kamer want je kon echt in de kamer kijken en het was erg licht.

Top plek! Fijne locatie, net iets buiten het drukke gedeelte. Omdat het soms regende was het fijn om dit plekje te hebben. Andy was een super behulpzame gastheer. Leuk ingericht ook!

Over deze accommodatie kan ik niet anders dan lopend zijn. Alles was perfect! Het huisje maar ook de tuin rondom is heel smaakvol ingericht. De ligging is ideaal, je wandelt zo naar het strand en zit dichtbij leuke ontbijt ontbijt tentjes (ook om smoothie bowls af te halen en lekker in de tuin te ontbijten) en restaurantjes. Surflessen om de hoek. Supermarkt ook. Heel makkelijk om een Tuktuk voor de deur te krijgen. Het huis is werkelijk van alle gemakken voorzien, overal is aan gedacht. Het was perfect schoon met goede airconditioning en ook nog ventilators. De veranda buiten is heerlijk om ‘s morgens met je kop koffie wakker te worden aan de rand van het zwembad. Buiten douche is ideaal. Kortom: zeker een grote aanrader! De eigenaar is goed bereikbaar en heel duidelijk en vriendelijk.

Beautiful villa in Hirikeyia, with a great outdoor plunge pool to cool off. The villa comfortably sleeps 4 adults and the communication with the owner was easy. Great location with a short walk to the beaches.

Privacy was great as opposed to staying in a resort. Modern and tasteful decor. Outdoor shower was practical and a dip in the pool was refreshing. House is equipped with all you need.

No window that can open in toilet which is shared for guests and opens onto kitchen.

Enorm mooie accommodatie, goed onderhouden met een heerlijk zwembad erbij. Op loop afstand van de zee en wat restaurantjes. Eigenaar verschrikkelijk aardige kerel, die graag met je mee denkt als er een probleem is. Wij hebben een heerlijk verblijf gehad. Dit is oprecht een aanrader

- super Lage, sehr nah zum Stand und umliegenden Geschäften - schöne Zimmer mit Sitzbereich innen - Klimaanlagen in jedem Zimmer

- Pool ist sehr klein, eher zum drin sitzen, schwimmen nicht möglich - nachts sind die Zimmer sehr hell und laut, recht dünne Wände - viele Hunde bellen nachts, Autos fahren vorbei, durch die Lautstärke konnten wir nachts nicht schlafen

I liked the warm and informative welcome and help from Andy the owner. The house is spacious and comfortable with several areas to relax in. The outdoor area is relaxing and the pool refreshing. That house is close to the beach and very close to excellent yoga, cooking classes, food locations and massage.

The occasional noisy dog at night and busy road.

Perfect spot! Few minutes walk from beach. Easy check in and great communication.

Wat een geweldige plek en warm ontvangst door Andy. We hebben genoten van de sfeer, het afkoel zwembadje, de buitendouche en de rust en privacy van de coconut cottage. De locatie zo dichtbij de zee, de leuke eettentjes, barretjes en heerlijke ijssalon is perfect! Onze dochters hebben ook fijne surfles kunnen volgen bij Noah( vraag op het strand naar hem)

De manier waarop de cottage is ingericht, zeer sfeervol en de locatie op loopafstand van alles!

De bedden waren iets aan de harde kant

Best accommodation we could have booked. Andy is a very welcoming host and took a lot of time and effort to decorate the place. After having slept in rooms the whole trip, coming home in Coconut Cottage was a relief! The location is amazing as well, we were in the midst of all the shops, restaurants, beach… I’d definitely recommend this place.

Had a small issue with the wifi but Andy resolved it immediately - very responsive and involved host. Very nice!

We didn’t see any other villas anywhere near so close to the beach as the cottage. Our kids loved the little pool in the garden and all the nature. It has a warm outdoor power shower and is decorated nicely inside.

We travelled around Sri Lanka for 6 weeks and stayed at many villas. This was our favourite. Hiriketiya is so chilled and the cottage has the best location, very near to the beach. The beds are great, the AC is great, the garden is cute and the host is so helpful. A really nice simple place.

If you were lucky to be staying here, you were lucky enough! Brilliant host. Brilliant everything! Thank you Andy.

The location was amazing, very close to both beaches. The cottage was great with two comfortable bedrooms and the plunge pool was perfect. Andy was amazing in helping with check in and communication during our stay.

We loved our stay at Coconut Cottage, after staying in guest houses and lodges while we travelled around Sri Lanka it was wonderful to have a gorgeous little cottage to stay in. We loved the location, only a couple of minutes walk to the beach and Cafe, restaurants, massage were even closer. I would definitely recommend you stay at Coconut Cottage. Andy was lovely to deal with, always kind and responded quickly to any questions that I had.

Everything was great, except maybe too much chlorine in the pool.

Everything was absolutely perfect! Andy the host is super nice and made us feel welcome right away! The cottage is amazing, spacious, the rooms are great. And the pool, it's the perfect addition to make everything even better! I came with friends, it was my 3rd time in Hiriketiya and I know already that when I come back, this is where I'll stay!

We loved our stay at Coconut Cottage. Andy was really helpful. The place was clean, stylish and comfortable. It was exactly what we needed after weeks in hostels. Would highly recommend.

Perfect for people looking for accommodation that is clean and comfortable in a great location with an authentic Sri Lankan flair. The plunge pool in the private backyard is a real bonus offering relief from the sweltering heat. The monkeys are very entertaining but will steal anything. We got to know our neighbours through returning shoes dropped over our side of the fence. Andy was very helpful and organised airport transfers.

Nothing, but I would have liked use of a toaster and a clothes horse for drying swimwear etc.

We came low season but sunshine every day, it was perfect holiday. We liked the cottage a lot. It’s so close to everything, has great AC and beds.

Our family had a great time at the cottage. The kids loved the garden and small pool. Lots of places to eat nearby. Everywhere in Hiri can be walked to from the cottage, it’s in a great location.

A cute villa that is really close to Hiriketiya and Dickwella beaches. We loved it there and didn’t want to leave. Andy the host is also really helpful.

The Cottage was so Homely and was perfect for our family. So clean and every little thing was thought of. Love the plunge pool. Will be our stay in the future when we go to Hiriketiya. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Second time we’ve stayed here. The house has everything you need and really comfortable beds. It’s literally less than 2 minutes to the beach and has a cute garden. Andy the host is really helpful if you need anything.

Location space of bedroom

The termite dust that fell on the bedsheets constantly. Not good for sleeping Sheets are always dirty.Shower is walk in alright -walk right out the back door to a semi enclosed shower and the back door can’t shut while you shower so mosquitoes move in but there is no mosquito protection offered as in bed nets or spray Also the back door is cut horizontally in half and leaves a 3/4” gap for mosquitoes to continue coming in. No hand towel offered for bathroom. No umbrellas available. Bedroom plug outlet didn’t work. Roof leaked. Ceilings have discoloration and signs of mold in bathroom Bathroom is narrow cubby off kitchen the width of the toilet. Mirror is old and delaminating in the back causing the black marks in front, sloppy bathroom sink install. Nothing boutique about this place except the price. No extra towel to dry feet after washing before entering home. Couch is uncomfortable to just sit on but makes a great extra bed.

It's outstanding to have your own little cottage in the heart of Hiri and Andy is an amazingly helpful host. Coconut Cottage has everything you need: two bedrooms, well equipped kitchen, living room and dining room, a lovely (outdoor) modern shower, and a great plunge pool area (when its not overtaken by squirrels or monkeys!). And all a couple of minutes walk from beautiful Hiri beach.

Nothing not to like about Coconut Cottage. Hiri itself is stunning, but has definitely become more touristed. And the prices in restaurants/cafes really reflect that compared to other areas of Sri Lanka. That said, Coconut Cottage itself is a bargain for the level of accommodation you get.

The Villa is perfect for a family stay in Hiriketiya. Comfortable and close to restaurants and beautiful beaches, but in a quiet and calm place in the middle of a the nature. Gale, the owner was really helpful during all our stay and make it even better

Peacefully sublime and serene Google maps brought us  directly to the cottage and found this wonderful private home on its own section fully screened for privacy. Andy met us at the taxi and took us through the property. He was great to interact with, full of information and happily answering all of our questions. The home is a very spacious two bedroom dwelling which is been tastefully decorated. There are air conditioning units in each of the respective bedrooms and the large living room has a high ceiling fan as does the dining room. A toilet room is off the kitchen. And the shower room is an external outhouse building in proximity to the pool. The plunge pool area is beautiful with sun loungers and a lovely seated area under a cabanious-like structure surrounded by mature tropical planted gardens. The Wi-Fi is excellent very fast and covers the whole property. We spent 3 days here and thoroughly enjoyed our time. And he was able to direct us to one of his friends who could rent us a scooter which was invaluable in our exploration of the surrounding Hinterland. We were a short 10 minute walk down to the beach and local restaurants. This is a truly fantastic place to stay when visiting the area and I will definitely try and come back. I would highly recommend staying here.

We loved everything! It is so nicely built and decorated, all the rooms are so pretty and cosy, the garden and pool a little piece of paradise, your own gate and porch, nice linnen pillows tableware etc. It’s brand new and done with so much love. The street is very nice with lovely neighbors there to help if needed, the best coffee place Duni’s, 2 minutes to the beach and a small supermarket. After 5 months of travel this was one of our favorite places and really felt like home. Andy is also a very nice guy who is always easily available for question.

Book this place, you won’t regret! Note that the house does not have airco but lots of very good fans.
