The property stands in the perfect location between Windermere & Bowness, both a short walk away.The interior was immaculate,as we're the rooms,the breakfast was ordered the evening before , freshly cooked & very well presented there was a fantastic choice. The Owners June & Mark were really nice people very friendly took an interest in all the guests & were always available if you needed a y help or advise. I can honestly say that the Thornbank is by a Country Mile the best B&B we have ever stayed in..

Friendly and welcoming, very comfortable and immaculate room with obvious attention to detail. Spotless bathroom with good shower. Breakfast options available, perfectly cooked and presented in a lovely bright dining room with a good morning mix of music playing in the background.

The location is conveniently close to the station, and Jane is very friendly and welcoming! The room is clean and comfortable. If I visit Windermere again, I would definitely love to stay here again!

Location is great! Very close to Bowness & Windermere. The room is comfortable and bright. There's tea/coffee as well as shampoo and conditioner. Check in is easy in advance and key pick up very well explained. The health club access is easy and the facilities are lovely. You can book a treatment via the leisure club as well for a very reasonable price! Breakfast could be easily pre ordered and was great for starting the day!

Not an issue for us but some bedrooms are upstairs and there is no lift so just to be aware when booking. The room was quite warm overnight, but we were provided with a fan and that was great!

Loved everything about our stay, location was excellent, right in the middle of Windermere & Bowness! The room was great value for money, bed & pillows super comfortable, shower powerful, added touch of toiletries, plus tea, coffee making facilities! Can’t comment on breakfast as we didn’t opt for this. Highly recommended 👌

Excellent position for the lakes and Windermere mark and jane were really helpful and friendly , spotlessly clean ,,breakfast was exceptional fabulous quality will definitely be back again ,parking added bonus and the hosts let us leave are car there after we had booked out which was fabulous

The hosts, Jane and Mark, are lovely people who go above and beyond during your stay at Thornbank House. The communication regarding booking details and check in were clear before arrival which made the journey down much more comfortable and exciting. The attention to detail, such as providing recommendations of where to eat and tourist destinations, emphasised how much effort Jane and mark put into taking care of their guests. Thornbank itself is located in an ideal location with a 10 minute walk towards the lake and many bus stops close by. Could not recommend enough and would visit again! x

Really nice property in a central location of Windermere.

It was all lovely and clean with private rear car park. Very organised and super organised owners who had everything covered

Spend 2 night here, hotel is in great location, walking distance to the Windermere pier and restaurants! the host Mark and Jane are super warm, the rooms are clean, spacious. And the breakfast cooked by Mark and Jane is very delicious. Highly recommended to stay here for your holiday in Windermere!

Perfect location, easy communication with the hosts, I checked in online, and when we arrived the key was already at the mentioned location. The room was super clean and cozy, a quiet place. The only thing I hadn't realized is that the pool is in a club about a 10-minute drive away, but other than that everything was perfect.

The location is excellent. The house is cosy, clean, and peaceful, making it feel like a home away from home. There is a bus stop nearby, and it is conveniently located for easy access to both Bowness and Windermere.

Jane and Mark offer the best of service. The property is immaculately presented, the hosts are extremely helpful and the breakfast is the best we have had during our stay in England. Top marks to them.

The room and en-suite bathroom were very clean. Everything was organised, all information provided upon arrival with notes and folder with all the needed information, instructions and even suggested restaurants/cafe nearby. Great location as well, walkable going to the train station and near the bus stop (convenient if you’re not driving). The host was also very accommodating.

The room was a bit smaller than we expected (though we booked small room) but just enough space. We could hear the tap running from upstairs or the next room if they’re using the bathroom.

Central for walking to both Windermere and Bowness giving us options daily. Room was lovely with a nice touch of an upgrade an a homemade flapjack to welcome us. Mark and Jane were so lovely, very welcoming and couldn’t do enough to make our stay a great one. Even kindly printed me a letter I needed urgently whilst away, which was very much appreciated :)

Great location for both Windermere, Bowness, and further afield. The room was lovely and clean, hosts were welcoming, and the breakfast was delicious. All in all, we had a lovely stay!

Good location, good parking, gym / spa facilities included, staff members checked up on us to make sure everything was okay. Friendly staff. About 5/10 minutes walk from Lake Windermere. Nice place to chill out and relax.

The low ceilings but not sure much can be done to avoid that!

I liked how accommodating Jane was and all the personal touches to make our stay extra special. Even home made flapjacks waiting for us on arrival with a lovely note. Personalised directions to the property, and clear communication throughout. Nothing was too much trouble.

Upon arriving at Thornbank Guest house, we were greeted by Mark who was very friendly and gave us info about our room and stay. The building looks inviting from outside, it’s clean and well maintained with some colourful bedding plants. We headed up to our room, it was cleaned to a high standard and well equipped with toiletries, and tea/coffee & biscuits. Beds were comfy and we all had a great sleep. Location was perfect, around a 10 min walk from Bowness and about 10/15min walk to Windermere. Jane & Mark were easy to contact and when we texted them about breakfast arrangements, they were more than accommodating, we really appreciated it. We would 100% love to return.

The location, the cleanliness and the hospitality by both Jane & Mark. The rooms are all so lovely. We booked 3 rooms and all were superb.

Everything. Jane was lovely, made me a beautiful breakfast and also give me a nice 8 mile walk to do which I very enjoyed. All round perfect stay.

Only thing would have been to have a little fridge in the room to keep water/drinks chilled. But everything was perfect and I will definitely be returning. Thanks again.

The rooms are well maintained and comfortable. Breakfast is freshly made, tasty and a lot. The building itself locates on a quiet road beside the main road. Easy to park. Heater is on a comfortable temperature.

Would prefer not to have to order what you want for breakfast the night before as it is hard to know what you will want in the morning, but this was only a minor point and breakfast was nice and well presented. The parking facilities are too tight for larger cars , so had to park on the street, but not a major point as its a safe area and the parking on the street outside is plentiful and free.

Friendly hosts, very welcoming and personable. Cooked breakfast was delicious with good sausages. Great location and a wonderful walking book you can borrow.

My friends and i had a lovely stay here for a weekend. The room was small but comfortable and the bathroom was spacious and clean. Excellent shower. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, check in instructions were clear and easy. We didn't have breakfast this time as we had to check out early. The location was excellent, in the middle of Windermere and Bowness. Would stay again!

A nice touch would be a small table in the bathroom for extra toiletries.

Warm welcome from Jane and Mark on our arrival..room was excellent and very clean as was the bathroom. Tea coffee in the room with kettle and cups Breakfast was superb on both mornings .Jane and Mark where excellent hosts Couldn't rate this place high enough..Would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it to family and friends
