MK Guest House

We had a really nice stay in this guest house. The views from the balcony are amazing, bed and bathroom are clean and comfy and the guest house is very well located (only a short walk from the city centre). But what made this stay stand out is it‘s lovely host Kalei. She made sure that our stay was extra comfy, helped us with our laundry, gave us good recommendations and made us taste her delicious homegrown avocados. It was lovely to chat and spend time with her! Thank you so much🥰

The road is quite noisy and the bed itself was a little loud while moving. Thus, these are just minor issues. You def miss out if not staying with Kalei, when in Haputale.☺️

The place is super clean. The room is spacious with good light. Bed is comfortable and there is a table with electric kettle and tea and coffee. Hot water in the bathroom. Big terace with couch and tables and chairs. Nice view. It's close to the road, so not quiet place. But not problem for me as I was out all day long... Not much traffic in night, so slept well....not to far to the city and there is a short cut connection to the road up. The owner is really nice person. I will come back again! Thank you for your hospitality!

Lovely place own by a lovely woman. She can help to organise activities and the room was really clean and confortable ! I will come back :)

Located next to the main street with a beautiful view over the mountains. I enjoyed a hot cup of tea on the terrace, which also has a roof if its raining. Has a sink and cutlery and they even offered me their kitchen if i wanted to cook something. Would stay here again anytime!

The room is very clean and spacious. The hosts are lovely and give excellent advice. The location is a bit outside the city, but it’s easily reachable on foot. The view is magnificent.

Kalai is such a sweet host, she will give you all the information you need and will arrange transportation if you need. From train or bus station, it’s walkable distance unless you have heavy backpack. Scooter rental available (2500rupees per day, the scooter is in great condition). The room gets a lot of sunlight every morning which I loved. Overall extremely clean everywhere.

Shower pressure isn’t that strong but has hot water running. No wifi available but was fine for me.

I had an amazing stay, made even more special by an incredibly kind and thoughtful host who pays great attention to every detail. The room was also very clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend this place to anyone staying in the area!

Real magic was Haptule itself. Quite and peaceful unlike it's much popular bretheren in Ella. Very picturesque. The property is at a short walk/tuk tuk ride from the station and has a great view as well. Host was very friendly and helped me book tuk tuk to Lipton seat early morning and also provided free tea.

Great for it's price actually, but since most stays in Sri Lanka provide free breakfast that was a little bit of a drawback.

Nice guest house The owner is really nice, she helps you with everything!

Staff friendly, and room adequate for the price.

No restaurant there or nearby, so you have to head into town to get a feed. And you could get caught out in the afternoon rains.

Wow! I only have great things to say about this place. The clean, great location and hospitality of the room was incredible. The lovely lady, Kalai, who owns the property is incredibly sweet and humorous. I was the only guest staying here for 2 nights and she treated me as part of her family - even making me breakfast on the day I checked out. I 100% recommend this stay to any other traveller. You can also rent a scooter for a small fee to explore further outside of town.

I had a great stay! The guesthouse is run by a retired woman. She is really lovely, loves to chat and makes you feel at home. The room was very clean and hot water/tea/coffee was available. Recommended for small budget!

Nice stay to do a stage of the Pekoe trail that is beautifully surrounded by tea plantages. Basic spacious room, tea available, friendly host not always easy to talk and understand each other in English but you can tell she cares and I was in contact with her daughter via whatsapp who helped me super quickly with any question I had.

I had a very pleasant stay. Kalaiselvi was very helpful and welcoming. She helped me with questions and I was also able to rent a scooter. The room fits the price-performance ratio and I had a beautiful view of the mountains. I would definitely come back again.

Everything was perfect

Lovely spacious comfortable room with outside seating area that's shaded for most of the day. Electric shower wasn't the most powerful but as good as any other that I have had in Sri Lanka. The big plus point though is the friendliness of the owner. Also I rented a top quality scooter from the property for a couple of days which was a nice bonus.

Nothing to dislike personally. The property is slightly out of town (about 10 minutes walk from the train/bus stations) which didn't bother me but is worth mentioning.

Such a comfortable spot that over-delivers for its price. The rooms are simple, but clean, and I appreciate having a kettle and some tea. Location is about 10min walk from the centre of Haputale. Excellent room, clean, well equipped, beautiful, at affordable price. Kale, the host, is a cream, helpful. You can also rent a motorbike to visit the tea plantations, very convenient since there are not a lot of options in the town. I wish I could have taken more time enjoying the terrasse.

The owner Kalai is so lovely and helpful. The place is really clean and there is a kettle with free tea and water provided. It’s a really nice view from the property and just a short walk to a different viewpoints, one in particular about 1km from the property was great for sunrise! If you enjoy hiking, you can join sections of the pekoe trail from here and there is a nice restaurant a short walk away which has a good selection and is reasonably priced. Very relaxing! Very friendly host, I felt safe as a solo woman. Beautiful view and clean room. Only 10-15min walk from the train station. Very good quality for the price ! It can be a bit noisy during the day because the main road is close by. Thanks for your warm welcome

The owners are very kind and helpful people. The room and the bathroom also (with hot water and basic toiletries) were very clean, there is a nice view from the room. The room comes with some tea bags, a kettle and bottled water. Kalai prepared a nice breakfast for my request, it had some additional cost, but it was more than enough. She called a tuk tuk for me to the train station too. I highly recommend this place. :-)

Hot water was available but the pressure.was low. It is advisable to confirm the check out time as there seems to be discrepancies between the time mentioned on booking.com and the operator.

The hospitality and kindness from the host exceed my expectations. I enjoyed my stay, the facilitates were good and I highly recommend the place. For travellers of the Pekoa trail that do the stage 12 or 13 , the guest house is located in a quiet road with beautiful view. If I come back to Sri lanka , I would definetely stay again here. Thank you Kali ( I probably spell the name very bad) for everything.
