Reviewed Aug 30, 2026The room was lovely and spacious and the bathroom too was very clean and modern. We were arriving very late due to the fact that we were staying there after our wedding and the staff were so accommodating and made sure that we could check in early in the day. We had a comfortable stay and the check out process was quick and easy. Once again, can't thank the staff enough for being so accommodating and the whole process was pleasant.

Reviewed Aug 16, 2026Great location for visiting the steam railway. Recently decorated and the staff were friendly and really helpful. Neil gave great info before check in and couldn’t have been more helpful. Breakfast was delicious!
The only nit picky thing is for them to watch the carpet on the stairs, it’s a little loose in places and needs fixing back in place before someone catches their shoe on it.

The rooms were nice, ours was very large and worked well for us. food choice very good at evening meal, very tasty and catered well for GF. Hosts extremely pleasant and accommodating.
If I am being picky I would have preferred the option of some GF cereal, greek yogurt and some summer fruit berries for breakfast but everyone else was happy.

Reviewed Aug 7, 2026Nous avons fait un stop dans ce bel hôtel au nord de Manchester avant de relier l’Ecosse, notre destination finale. Franchement, cet établissement est vraiment top. C’est très calme, très propre, le personnel est d’une incroyable gentillesse et le restaurant propose de bons plats. La literie de la chambre est un rêve. Vous avez l’impression de dormir sur un nuage, c’est exceptionnel. Je recommande vivement cet hôtel malgré le détour que nous avons fait de la M6.

Reviewed Jul 11, 2026The pub was situated in a nice setting and was what I would describe as a country style pub.The room we had was recently renovated and it was fabulous,clean ,nice decor and the rain shower was fantastic.The other thing that stands out was the staff.Katy greeted us with a friendly and welcoming manner and also Claire greeted us with the same enthusiasm.They were amazing so welcoming as if we had known them for years.The Food in the restaurant was amazing all high end fresh in house made dishes and all at fabulous prices.I can’t fault any part of our stay and we will return at some point.
It’s not something I disliked and it’s not a criticism.It would be nice if the rooms had air conditioning but as it an old pub building it’s probably not feasible.I only say this as it’s during this high heat wave we have stayed.Although a fan was provided so no complaints at all

Reviewed Apr 5, 2026This is a lovely place to be, set in a fabulous village which is friendly and plenty of walks to get out and about. The pub and restaurant are fabulous, the staff are not just prodessional but friendly and helpful.
For me there is only two problems and they are the rooms have thin walls but I dont think much can be done about that and the bed was very hard. Both would not stop me staying again. This is our second visit

The rooms are in dire need of an upgrade. The sink in my room was cracked and the shower needed re grouting. Secondary double glazing needed a good clean. Apparently according to staff there appears to be refurbishment planned.

Comfortable room, slept well, quiet in room (although it is close to the road). Plenty of parking. Staff were great. Good breakfast. An added bonus was Santa turning up in the morning - they were hosting a kid's Christmas party that morning!
