Hide Away in Waikanae

A wonderful,well equipped, quiet stay in Waikanae. We loved the bird life and the proximity to all services, restaurants etc. Fabulous hosts and set in a beautiful garden. Can't wait to get back.

The rain on Thursday but who can sort that!! Beautiful sunny spot on Friday.

The peace and quiet. The locality to shops.The shower was fantastic.

Location right 9in town. you could walk into own from there. It was very clean and quiet with nature all around and still in the city.

i have no complaints about any thing. Just wish i could have more time to stay longer. maybe next time.

A good distance from the hosts house - so you could get back to the b&b late and not worry about waking anyone etc

The location of the property suited us perfectly. It was also within easy walking distance from two major supermarkets plus a number of different eating places. The holiday cottage was in a secluded setting surrounded by a lovely garden with the Motuiti Scenic Reserve just over the back fence. It provided everything that a visitor would ever want to enjoy their stay.

We couldn't fault this property - it exceeded our expectations.

I loved the location, both being within easy walking distance of the amenities of Waikanae, and the grounds were beautiful, gardens and trees. A real treat.

Beautiful spacious accomadation' with every thing possible provided for making g it a most enjoyable experience. The garden setting was very relaxing and the wood pigeons in the trees a bonus to watch. My hosts very friendly and I was given a good hand over of the facility and truly an enjoyable experience.p

Sadly the fact I only had one night to enjoy all this hideaway gem had to offer.

Would prefer to have the choice of sleeping under a sheet in summer. Duvet was a bit hot.

Hans and Michaela were fantastic hosts. Warm and unobtrusive. The accommodation met all our needs. Breakfast was superb and hit the spot. The location is perfect, especially for travellers who want to start their journey north or journey south while avoiding the hustle and bustle of Wellington. The chalet is set in a large and leafy garden, teeming with bird life. It is away from traffic noise.

There was no aspect that we did not enjoy.

We chose not to order breakfast. Choice to make our own tea n toast or eat out for breakfast.

The location was amazing considering we were right in the centre of Waikanae. I had never experienced the closeness of the host before but there was no issue and was handy if we required help of any sort.

The only thing I would say as a slight negative was for the price per night, and we could not get the TV going and any movies were at a cost.

The Hide Away was just what we needed for a couple of days of rest away from the hustle and bustle. A home away from home. Hans and Michaela were amazing hosts and very accommodating. Everything was in close proximity (walking distance) to restaurants, cafes, transport and Supermarkets. Bed was very comfortable and the Hide Away was well equipped. We will definitely return.

The location was perfection. Close to amenities but cottage was private with all the facilities I needed. The cottage backed onto a reserve and the bird life beautiful. Hosts so helpful and generous and we're so easy to talk with.

Lovely friendly couple with a lovely wee get away.

Very close to the town centre and yet very peaceful, down a driveway and behind the owners' house, in a large garden next to a reserve. The accommodation itself is a small house but has a spacious bedroom, a separate bathroom (with shower), and a combined living room and (well-equipped) kitchen. And the owners/hosts were very welcoming and friendly.

We stayed 2 weeks over the New Year period and found this to be the perfect hideaway in a very private corner of a beautiful garden. Quiet, clean and comfortable with some lovely personal touches. We appreciated the fresh fruit and chilled water we were left. The owners are super friendly and helpful - nothing is too much trouble (including waiting up for us after a travel delay). We would highly recommend this accommodation for a visit to this beautiful part of New Zealand. Everything is very accessible- including the supermarket, shops, cafes , pub and train station.

Everything was perfect. The location is excellent, with parking on the property. Hans and Michaela, are super, friendly, helpful hosts, who simply want you to have the perfect stay. The property is two minutes walk from shops yet so peaceful and immaculately presented with everything you could need. We will definitely return. Thank you.

The name "Hide Away" is spot on the money. The property was peaceful and in a lovely garden setting. It was very well-equipped, comfortable and quiet. Only 3 minutes walk to the main shops and station but felt like a tranquil country setting. Michaela and Hans were exceptional hosts - attentive but not intrusive, warm and friendly and very thoughtful and kind. I will definitely be staying again.

Very friendly hosts. I accidentally paid money for breakfast into the wrong account and they sent it back to me. Nice quiet place to stay.

We had a great time. Hans and Michaela are very attentive hosts. We had everything we needed. Very beautiful cabin and gardens. This is a great hideaway to relax and enjoy the area.

Fantastic location. Great facilities with everything you need. Good value and lovely garden. I highly recommend staying here if you visit the Kapiti Coast.

Breakfast was beautiful Lots of choice. Location was excellent. Secluded behind the main house. Quiet Safe. Sits in a very clean vegie garden! Backs on to a native tree reserve! Yet only 5 mins walking to the shops! Hans and Mikaela very pleasant. And..they have helpful maps and info for local walks and sightseeing.

The TV set up is hard to manage for some people. Place did get a bit cold.

Everything was lovely, tidy, and the morning birdsong was a treat to wake up to.
