We were absolutely blown away by The Gatehouse. The property was exceptional and we felt so at home from the moment we arrived. ❤️ The hosts were incredibly kind and welcoming and made us feel completely comfortable, safe and looked after. It was all the little touches that really made our stay so special treats for the dogs, Tim Tams in the fridge, Vogels for breakfast and so many thoughtful details that showed just how much care had gone into making guests feel welcome. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The kindness and hospitality were above and beyond, and we left feeling incredibly grateful that we had found such a beautiful place. We would absolutely recommend The Gatehouse . 🐾❤️

Absolute luxury and comfort. We were blown away! Loved the tim tams, a lovely extra touch. Everything we needed was right there. So nice to have our little pooch with us for an agility event. And a nice (slightly muddy) reserve walk right next door.

Everything, the community is lovely, quite and convenient. The unit is tidy, super clean. And all the details are perfect. Gail and Chris are thoughtful and nice. The place is better than what it looks like in photos. Their dog Mable is such a lovely dog. Gentle and friendly! I will definitely come back again.

We loved this property. We were travelling as my husband required surgery, and the house was such a cosy, welcoming place to stay. The kitchen was very well stocked, with high‑quality, thoughtful touches throughout – beautiful soap, lovely tea, and quality china. The host even contacted us to ask what sort of milk and bread we liked, which was incredibly thoughtful. My husband was able to properly relax and recover after his surgery. Best of all, our wee dog Tilly was warmly welcomed. We loved staying in a quality home where our dog was genuinely treated as a welcome guest.

It was lovely and clean and they allowed dogs. The owners were very welcoming and told us about a dog walk nearby.

The Gate House, Gail, and her gorgeous doggies were all truly exceptional. The Gate House itself feels like a little slice of luxury—beautifully built, thoughtfully appointed, and so quiet and peaceful… it’s honestly hard to leave. Gail couldn’t have been a more thoughtful host. She welcomed us with fresh bread, milk, butter, chocolate biscuits and more, which was such a lovely touch. She was also incredibly responsive to messages and very proactive in keeping us updated about local road closures, which we really appreciated. Mabel and Nelson, the resident doggies, are just the sweetest… if I could have squeezed them into my bags, Gail might have had a dog-napping on her hands 😉 It was a genuinely wonderful experience and a very special place to stay.

There’s absolutely nothing to fault about the Gate House — it was perfect in every way.

Nothing .An exceptional property, probably the best I have ever stayed in and I have travelled extensively and am 78. The attention to detail was incredible with the highest quality appliances and general decor. To anyone visiting Tauranga this is a gem. Look no further.

Fabulous location, great property and a lovely garden. Nelson, canine supervisor, checked in regularly to make sure that all was well and was a fabulous liaison officer.

The location feels like an oasis of peace and quiet. Very welcoming owners and Labradors. Gail thought of absolutely everything at the place and it felt like a home: coffee, bread, butter, tea and milk and many other things provided. Comfortable outdoor setting. Lovely dining table and crockery and cutlery to host family. Doggie biscuits for our Labrador. He felt straight at home and played with the other dogs on a fully fenced property. Highly recommended.

This is the ideally lovely and cozy holiday home. The hosts are kind and fully-equipped facilities are quite convenient. The room condition was flawless and the check-in&check-out process was simple and easy. I loved every moment here.

It's easy to see why everyone who has stayed at The Gate House gives it top marks for everything from ease of access to quality of facilities via accommodating hosts. "Luxurious" would be something of an understatement to describe a property that's been well designed, furnished with top quality fixtures and fittings and equipped with everything you could possibly need for a self-catering holiday - including free biscuits and chocolate! Perfect, and I hope to come back.

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Gail und Chris sind unglaublich herzliche Gastgeber. Das Haus ist äußerst gepflegt und hervorragend ausgestattet. Schon bei der Ankunft wurden wir liebevoll von den beiden Haushunden Mabel und Nelson begrüßt, was den Aufenthalt noch besonderer gemacht hat. Die Einrichtung ist mit viel Liebe zum Detail gestaltet und wir haben uns sofort wohlgefühlt. Zusätzlich haben uns die Gastgeber mit einer kleinen Aufmerksamkeit zum Willkommen überrascht. Eine absolute Empfehlung – wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen!

Easy directions, beautiful neighborhood, secure parking, stunning modern and elegant abode, which is huge! 2 bathrooms is a massive plus. Heaps of space and incredibly comfy. I thought the house rules of 'eat the biscuits' was wonderful, especially on discovering the complimentary timtams—what a treat!! Your dogs are gorgeous and a beautiful welcome to your little spot of paradise. Thoroughly recommend - it completely surpassed my already high expectations!!

What wasn't there to love? It was absolutely perfect and I will definitely go back should we travel back to the area! It was a perfect distance from the central town, feeling just close enough that you never felt far away, while at the same time far enough that it's like you're away from the hustle and bustle. It was just a perfect, clean, modern, confortable place.

this is a lovely property in a gorgeous location. The cottage was super comfortable & had everything we needed for our 2 night stay. Gail was so kind & such a lovely host, especially as I wasn't terribly well during our stay. But cottage was homely, warm & comfortable so the 1 day of being unwell, The Gate House provided me a perfect environment to get some very much needed rest. Thank you Gail & Chris for everything & lovely to meet Mabel & Nelson (the adorable puppies) as well.

The house was very comfortable, clean, and beautifully decorated. The garden was peaceful and well maintained. The hosts were extremely friendly and thoughtful — we really appreciated the little touches they prepared for us.

This is a perfect, silent, elegant, residential part of Tauranga. The flat is fully separated from the owners own apartment. It is a perfect place for 2+2 people. Everyting is brand new, fully equipped, and filled up. Besed on my own experience this is rather a 5-star hotel apartment, not just a place for staying there one night.

There is almost nothing. You need a car as usual in New Zealand.

Everything about this property is a wow! It is luxurious, homey, spacious, beautifully presented, and a real pleasure to stay here. Lots of little thoughtful gestures by the owners - like the dog treats and the packet of biscuits for the humans! It was just a joy to stay here. Peaceful and quiet, large lawn area, rural outlook, easy to access, great facilities, warm and cosy, and just a short trip to the city, the Mount, or Papamoa Beach.

Even though it was a last minute booking, this place seriously exceeded our expectations. When we arrived we were greeted by their furry friends. The house looked exactly like the pictures advertised. There were Tim Tam, milk, coffee and tea and even dog treats to feed their dogs. The host Chris was friendly. Overall, I would highly recommend this place.

The accommodation is in a beautiful and picturesque area that feels super secure and private. The 2 bedroom dwelling was beautiful and well furnished and incredibly comfortable.

Beautiful little place in a beautiful leafy suburb. Excellently clean, lots of thoughtful touches. Very homely and relaxing. Two nice friendly dogs.

Location isn’t super central to anything, but you know that when you book. The cottage is quite close to the owners home.

Quiet gated retreat, beautifully laid out property with everything provided that you could ask for. Met by the friendly dogs and their helpful humans. We were made to feel very welcome.

The whole neighbourhood is well maintained and clean, it was already a pleasure to drive through. The hosts are nice and friendly with two cute and well behaved dogs. The house is amazing, there is a fresh smell, cleanliness, tasteful furniture, all amenities provided. Feels like the home you want to have one day. There is a beautiful view overlooking the back garden, you can see sheep and cows grazing in the background while the native fantails are chirping on the trees. It's like a little paradise on Earth.

Everything about the Gate House is first class. Beautiful garden with a lovely view. A very nice part of Tauranga. We loved walking our dog along the adjoining native bush walk. She was in heaven with the resident dogs! The house is so clean and comfortable and fitted out with gorgeous linens, towels and everything you need in the kitchen. Owners super friendly and accommodating. One of the nicest places we’ve stayed in NZ. We’ll be back for sure!

The gate house is an amazing hidden gem for relaxation. Positives: extremely clean and fully equiped with everything we needed(including washing machine). Everything inside the house is of great quality and taste. The hosts were friendly and made us feel like they really cared about us having a pleasant stay. Bonus: they have 3 lovely dogs who visited us every day. Negatives: None!
