Reviewed Nov 12, 2025The hosts are friendly, accommodating and helpful at all times with a wonderful mannerism. The modern-built bush cottage is nestled privately in the heart of nature, situated in a beautiful tranquil neighborhood close to Hoedspruit town with shops and restaurants. It is not even an hour's drive to Orpen Gate, to visit the much loved Kruger National Park. Theresa and Barry go to great lengths to make sure one feels welcome and at ease. Aside from the house being spotless, extra attention has gone into making sure that you have everything you need. With a lovely, well-maintained succulent garden and the surrounding forest-like trees, hidden gems welcome any bird lover. The house provides safe parking, an outdoor seated patio setting and weber braai to enjoy, with the stunning Blyde River Canyon as a backdrop. A private outdoor firewood hot tub under the stars, gives this stay an added unique experience. Thank you for your gracious hospitality.

Reviewed Oct 20, 2025The owners were so sweet, they welcomed us at the property and showed us around. They warmed the hottub for us so when we came back from dinner we could jump straight in. The house was clean, bed was cozy and soft and the bathroom big and clean. Also the views on the mountains were breathtaking from the garden! We absolutely loved our stay here and would recommend it to anyone!

Мы поздно возвращались с достопримечательностей, все магазины были закрыты и мы очень устали. Барри подготовил для нас уличный горячий чан, было очень здорово погреться после холодного дня. Тереза сделала салат и дала продукты для ужина и завтрака. В доме каждая деталь сделана для комфортного проживания самых близких друзей, во дворе очень ухоженный сад, не похоже на обычный дом для аренды.
Все безупречно!

Reviewed May 19, 2025The cottage was very clean and neat. We loved the decorations and the room amenities as well as the beautiful succulent garden which drew lovely birds to the cottage. The hosts went the extra mile and put a lot of thought and effort into the cottage. Barry and Theresa were great hosts, and always available if we needed anything. I would highly recommend The Bird House.

Reviewed Dec 25, 2024I really loved the place. It was very clean and tidy, with an amazing atmosphere. The trees added such a beautiful view, making the stay even more enjoyable. I had a wonderful time and wished I could have stayed longer. The place is incredibly relaxing and refreshing. The hosts were truly kind and welcoming, which made the experience even better. This is a place I would definitely recommend and visit again. I had an amazing time with my partner!

Reviewed Oct 3, 2024The unit exceeded our expectations, appearing even more impressive in person than in the images. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Barry and Theresa were exceptional hosts, greeting us upon arrival and suggesting several local attractions. We appreciated the daily housekeeping, which kept the property immaculate. The garden facing the patio added a charming touch. Additionally, the property is home to numerous birds, and a bird book is available for reference. At night, we could hear lions and hyenas from the nearby Moholoholo Rehab Centre, adding to the unique experience. Growing up, I only knew this area as the location of a filling station, so I was pleasantly surprised to discover the vibrant community beyond. We are definitely planning to return.

New , spacious and plenty of space for small. Children to play . The gardens are beautiful and the walk along the stream is lovely .
