The Staff did not activate the AC before or upon arrival in 44 deg heat. The room was hotter than outside, which made it very uncomfortable. AC only operated for 2 hr periods during the heat wave.

Reviewed Mar 28, 2026Ashley is such a friend and thoughtful host. The place was clean, when we arrived, the fan & humidifier was on with some relaxing music. Our dinner reservations was booked for us. We really enjoyed our stay at The Little Gem

Das Zimmer war soweit ok, aber die Zimmer Bechreibung bei booking.com stimmte nicht mit der Realität überein. Nachdem die Vermieterin dies mit booking.com anscheinend geklärt hatte, wurden die fehlenden Elemente, wie Terrasse und Tisch, bereitgestellt. Da ich mehrere Fragen an die Vermieterin zur Klärung, der defekten Klimaanlage und Zudecke des Bettes hatte, war diese anscheinend überfordert, so dass wir den Aufenthalt auf ihren Wunsch hin abbrechen mussten. Sie war der Ansicht das unsere Fragen eher einem 5 Sterne Hotel entsprächen.

The mattress is too soft and it creaks, the pillows feel uncomfortable.

Reviewed Aug 14, 2025This was such a stunning little spot and stay! The location was fabulous - very close to the center of town, but far away enough that it was quiet and peaceful. I stayed at the Little Gem as a stopover on my drive back to Cape Town from Namibia so had had a long day of driving. The Little Gem was exactly the cosy, comfortable place I needed after a long day. All of the fixtures were lovely, the bed was super comfortable, and the attention to detail was fabulous. The host, Ash, was divine - super flexible with checking in, warm, friendly, and gave me all of the advice I needed and answered my many questions. Really recommend staying here!

Reviewed May 27, 2025Clean, comfortable and a convenient base for exploring Clanwilliam and the area. Safe walking through the town and up the hill in the adjacent nature reserve. Unique attractions like the Heerenlogement Cave, the Pakhuis Pass and the Rock Paintings Trail made this an unforgettable visit.
Check in time is later than stated on the booking site. A few self-catering touches like a microwave and some crockery and cutlery would be nice.

Reviewed Dec 17, 2024When I opened the door, I was welcomed by a running fan and a humidifyer. Such a nice gesture. Clanwilliam can get very hot. I felt safe and slept with open windows. The hostess made contact with me before arrival and she made a booking for me for dinner at a restaurant and foward me the menu. 💞

Chocolate on the pillow, cookies in the jar, beautifully scented humidifier. All in all, a wonderful place to stay overnight. Thank you Ashley, you exceeded our expectations.

We would have liked another chair to sit on, in the room.

The accommodation is spacious with a large outside balcony offering stunning views. The flatlet was clean and well appointed. We visited during wild flower season and loved the flowers and mountain scenery in the area. All highly recommended and we will definitely return to this little gem!

Everything was perfectly clean (especially the bathroom, which is the most important part for me) and I was greeted by Ashley with so much care and friendliness. She had 5 liter water ready in the fridge as one can not drink their water at all and checked in even after I left to make sure I got safely home. Definitely saved her numer for next time!!
