The restaurant staff as well as the night manager, Wernardt, was extremely friendly and helpful. Wernardt especially went out of his way to accommodate us and make our stay as comfortable as possible.

The staff were amazing, thank you Des for looking after us so well.

The bar area smelt of sewage and that was attached to the dinning room. The food was very expensive for the quality.

Friendly people

The room - no place to put the bag/case you travel with. It will help if there is a bench, or something, for your case! I do not want to put my expensive case on the floor. The same with the bathroom - you need a small table/bench to put down your toilet bag or clothing - not on the floor. The dinner I paid for was really bad - the fillet was not prepared as requested and the onion ring burnt. I was promised a refund that never materialised.

The hotel is centrally located and convenient. The Area is safe and we were able to safely park our car on the street.

The lady at reception was not welcoming. Our rooms were located upstairs with steep steps to climb. We had a heavy bag, and the receptionist just looked at us with no offer to look for someone to assist with the bags. The hotel is generally dusty, and we struggle to sleep peacefully as a result of breathing in the dust.

The staff were friendly and helpful. We had supper at the restaurant at the hotel and it was fantastic. Breakfast was great. Will definitely stat there again.

The aircon in our room tripped the electricity. Close to the room that we stayed there is a motor that goes on and off the whole night.

Overall, our stay at Clanwilliam Hotel was passable, but there were definitely some positives worth mentioning. The staff were absolutely amazing — very friendly, helpful, and always willing to assist with anything we needed. The food was also great and one of the highlights of the stay. The location was excellent and convenient, and the facilities were decent overall.

However, the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms could definitely be improved, and for the price paid, it didn’t quite feel like good value for money. That being said, the excellent service from the staff really stood out and made the experience better.

A lot of street traffic noise and although we were given the honeymoon suite, it was near the reception and with the 24 hour check in, it never quietened down.

The air-conditioned room could not have come at a better time. The bed is really comfortable, and we had a fantastic night's rest, followed by a delicious breakfast the next morning. Thank you to a wonderful hotel.

Good location, absolutely wonderful staff, great restaurant. Rooms were spacious and clean. Good Internet access. Safe parking. Highly recommended. In fact, more compliments to the staff: exceptional.

Aircondition very noisy (needed earplugs), room very dark, little terrace in front of the room hasn’t been swiped for a while, not enough plugs, breakfast varies widely from very basic to filling buffet, food in restaurant nothing to write home about.

Location was perfect and rooms were clean.

The hotel is very tired and in urgent need of refurbishment. The chlorine in the pool really burnt my eyes.

Absolutely wonderful staff (Linda was super-helpful, friendly and full of tips!), and the restaurant served us a delicious dinner and breakfast! The location is super-central and the parking very convenient.

The hotel is showing its age a bit, and whilst everything was well looked-after, it might be time for a refresh to the decor and fittings.

The hotel was dirty, dusty. The towels were stained and dirty. People hanging around in the parking drink, empty bottles everywhere, I couldn't even park my car. People hanging and shouting about food parcels in the reception are. The manager, I you could call him that, is absolutely pathetic and try to down play everything and told us to relax, we'll that is the precise reason why we chose the Hotel. Shocking. He refuses to compensate us in any way possible.

Unit 42 was icy cold and stinky from fire smells, and wood, the bed was covered with linen that was not properly ironed, had to ask them to put new bedding on. Our whole experience was BAD. The oldest room in the Hotel. Was in hospital with Asthma attack and the room was not suitable for my lungs.

Rooms were clean and well presented, linen was crisp.

every hotel needs a proper coffee station, package coffee is a bit of a let down

The lack of parking inside the property. As a property with stairs and no assistance to help with luggage it would be beneficial to place older people on the ground floor so we don’t have to try and carry suitcases etc up all the stairs!

The room had thick curtains which did not open. It also did not j=have any lace curtains for privacy. Therefore, the room was very dark.

The check in process went very well. The person that assisted me was pleasant and helpful. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is centrally located in the town and close to various amenities. The breakfast was also good but limited in what was provided, especially for halal options.

My room was along the roadside and the noise of trucks driving throughout the night was extremely disturbing. The tv channel options were very poor. When I entered my room, I could got a very strong poo smell. I checked the room and there was literally poo in the shower drain. Not sure how it got there but I alerted reception and the maintenance guy came to clean it out and said perhaps someone snuck a dog in. From that point on, I felt uncomfortable in this room because if they could not clean something this obvious prior to my arrival then what else is being overlooked in terms of cleanliness.

The Hotel staff was friendly and the food was great! The rooms were very neat.

The location is not great at all. you basically can't go anywhere. They also advertised "secure parking", but they have too little parking for the guests so our vehicle had to stand in the street.

Room had tea and coffee like expected. Shower water nice and hot. They serve a good breakfast and a large variety of dishes for supper.

The restaurant was bad. We booked for 19h00 and only recieved our food at 21h35 and it was cold. Won't eat there again.

Room was very comfortable, but a lot of dampness on the walls,bathroom needs a good amount of deep cleaning. Breakfast i can't complain about at all. Staff are very welcoming,helpful and Friendly.

Only the bathroom that is in need of a very good clean. The grouting on the shower walls is black with mould.

The breakfast was good and the lady at the front desk accommodate us after we had to move our booking twice due to a crisis.

Our room had Unfortunately no view, our door was on a walk through with no privacy, near to a noisy kitchen and a car was parked right in front of the only window in the room. We had to keep the curtains closed. The linen was not sparkling white, with stains on the pillow covers and towels!!!

The staff were friendly and kind.

The water flowing out the taps was brown. The neighbourhood wasn't great.

Comfortable bed and we had a fireplace in our room! Breakfast was basic but good. Secured parking behind hotel if not fully occupied.

The noise throughout the night. The reception talks load, they don't instruct other guests to keep their voice level down, everything is tiled so the sound resonates all the time someone speaks. Therefore I wouldn't recommend this hotel. You are booking a hotel to sleep.

The smoking area makes you feel like a prisoner, dirty ans no seats. You are given a key for the balcony in your room that does not unlock the door. It was a relatively cold night and the aircon did not even work and they could not fix it. . To top it all, there was not even a bottle of water in the room which ALL hotels do, to rinse your mouth when you brush your teeth. I can almost say with confidence that this is an absolute necessity im Clanwilliam as the water coming out of tge tap is a light shade of brown. At breakfast, I witnessed one of the servers cleaning a table and dropped a fork on the floor. She just picked it up and put it on the table again. Until I asked should she not have it washed having fell on the floor. Such a sad state that a historical hotel like this is going absolutely to the digs. Clearly the management do not care, or are just incompetent. The general state of the hotel is old, run down, with creaky floors and threadbare carpets. Shocking and disgusting. I will NEVER stay there again. Would rather spend a night in my car.
