Villa Macarena Apartamentos Boutique - Only Adults vs Similar Hotels

Room is a bit small and the bed quality was rated poorly during the stay.

Beautiful hotel and rooms, spacious main bedroom, with lovely views.

Rooms are comfortable and private and architecturally interesting, but the design prioritises style over comfort in places: strong echo/noise between areas, limited hot water in mornings, and an outdoor bath with a drainy smell reported.

Rooms are comfortable with good beds and terraces, but there are recurring complaints about noisy or malfunctioning air-conditioning and the absence of in-room refrigerators.

Towels had a horrible smell and the owners refused to address it.

The property is described as very clean, but there are concerns about the breakfast being limited and the handling of amenities.

Visual presentation and public areas are well kept; minor issues noted (drainy smell in an outdoor bath and debris around the access road) but overall clean for this hotel tier.

Mixed reports: some guests found rooms and common areas clean, but several reviews mention the pool being dirty at times and inconsistent room cleaning unless specifically requested.

Location is peaceful and quiet but far from the center, a challenging walk at night.

The location is slightly out of the way but offers a peaceful environment away from noise.

About a 10-minute walk to the main beach and pleasantly private/setback; however not on a main avenue and access involves dirt roads and some debris, which reduces convenience.

Peaceful, secluded setting is repeatedly highlighted and appreciated; however it is a 10–15 minute walk to La Punta and can feel challenging in hot/humid weather, so transport is often needed.

Staff were kind and helpful, and the bartender was available for snacks and drinks.

Incredibly helpful and kind staff, going above and beyond to assist guests.

Staff are repeatedly described as lovely, friendly and attentive (welcome drink, helpful door staff); a single reception staff member and one instance of manager absence were noted as negatives.

Staff repeatedly praised for friendliness and responsive service (maintenance quickly fixed issues); a few comments about less attentive morning staff, but overall service is a standout positive.

Menu could be improved; bar opens late for breakfast.

Breakfast is limited; however, there are nearby restaurants serving breakfast.

Consistently praised: breakfasts described as great and the on-site restaurant (Glou Glou) and dinner experience repeatedly called exceptional.

Food receives praise from multiple guests for taste and quality, but options are limited, breakfast offerings are restricted at times, and restaurant hours are short which reduces convenience.

Fantastic rooftop pool and great hotel amenities.

Limited breakfast options and construction noise affect overall amenities.

Interesting shared amenities (lobby pool, design features) and good dining options, but the indoor pool is chilly and solar-powered hot water limits morning showers—reducing usability for some guests.

Lovely pool area and good communal spaces; however limited on-site amenities in evenings (restaurant closes early), no in-room fridges/snacks for purchase, and occasional minor maintenance issues noted.

Good value for comfortable stay with excellent views.

Considering the overall positive aspects and ambiance, value for money is good.

Many guests find the property pricey given the practical limitations (noise, access, hot water), though several feel the unique design and dining experiences justify the cost for a special stay.

Several guests felt drinks and some charges were overpriced and that breakfast or menu options did not always justify the price — value perception is a notable drawback.
