Good base for Hakone and we also spent a day on the rocky beach, which was very nice and non-touristy. Breakfast had a great variety of Japanese-only stuff, but the space was a bit cramped to fit in (but again, you are in Japan)
The hotel is a business hotel, so expect less of an atmosphere.

The bathroom is roomier than most of the other Toyoko Inns, which is very comfortable, and there is a support bar at the tub which you appreciate as you get older. Many Toyoko Inns' bathrooms haven't got it. From my room one can see the castle.
A bit pricy for a Toyoko Inn, but considering the good points you can't complain.

Reviewed Jun 6, 2026Very good price but tiny suites. Which is not a negative, as one can't expect a penthouse for less than $100/night. Just a fact. If you're looking to save and ready to sacrifice some comfort, this can be an option.
The beds are very stiff. Like sleeping on a piece of wood. Maybe it's more common in Japan but I'm not really used to it and I can't say it felt comfortable. I haven't experienced it in other inexpensive hotels either.

Inside the hotel, everything looked clean and well kept. Our twin beds were large and very firm, we slept well! The staff was friendly and helpful, they helped us ship our luggage to a hotel in Shizuoka, so we could travel lighter while on a 2 night stay in Izu. We knew the luggage was in good hands, they even called the destination hotel to confirm they could receive it.
