The room was really really small and the materass a bit uncomfortable. There was almost no room for my luggage. What annoyed me a bit is that there where instructions on what to do and what not to do all over the hotel constantly about anything, even to knock the door before entering the bathroom. Most of the instructions where also repeated multiple times. It felt a bit annoying, but maybe it's just me

The aircon and ventilation fan were so loud. If you turned it off the room steamed up and went all sticky. The aircon kept leaking on my bed. I wondered why I had a wet pillow and it was because of the aircon. Facilities were very basic

Reviewed Aug 12, 2026The Pocket hotel is a great place for a shorter stay. It’s only 1 subway stop from the main train station and literally only 20 steps from that subway stop - super convenient to get around Kyoto. Just next door are very good restaurants for reasonable price and all around plenty of other dining opportunities. Hotel itself is very well organized- rooms are small, exactly as on the pictures, but everything you need is available - really comfortable and clean bed. Very clean restrooms and bathrooms on a floor. There is a free tea and coffee in the lobby and paid washing machines, too. We were 4 people - 2 adults and 2 grown up sobs and enjoy the stay a lot. We stayed 3 nights. For longer stay I would recommend another type of accommodation- some apartment with more space. But for few nights it’s great experience! Everything worked really smoothly, communication with the staff was quick, hotel was clean, everything was perfect.
I missed that the window couldn’t be opened. When you have 4 pair of shoes in the tiny room without a chance to clear the air, it’s not ideal. But i’s really the only advice for consideration, all the rest was perfect!

Reviewed Aug 12, 2026Clean public areas and room. You get clean towels everyday. Really good location: Only 15-20min walk to main area and subway station is 1min away. Lot of stores, cafes and restaurants near by.
I didn't expect to have to make the bed myself, but it's just a small thing. Also no conditioner in shower so take that with you if you have long hair.

Reviewed Aug 11, 2026這間的地點很不錯就在五条站1號出口旁，但這出口只有樓梯，若需要推行李，可以走斜對面的6號出口，有電梯。飯店旁邊就有6間餐廳，彌生軒、麥當勞、吉野家、COCO一番屋、豬排店和蕎麥麵店，斜對面有一家7-11。
我單人入住雙人房，覺得棉被有點味道，於是就換另一條使用。不知為何，雖然已經持續開了冷氣，房間感覺濕度很高，因為放在房間的紙都潮潮的。

The room was quite small gor 4 adult People so we could barely open our suitcases and move around. The shared shower facilities are quite far away — you have to take the elevator to the second floor, while there is only a toilet on your floor.

お盆時なのもあり、ランドリーが混んでいて早朝しか空いていなかった 洗濯、乾燥が終わっているのに取りに来ていない洗濯物で機械が埋まっていて、暗証番号を登録する仕様のため取り出して使うこともできず困った ただ、暗証番号を入力しないと開けられない仕様は安心して使えるので良かった点でもある

Reviewed Aug 5, 2026The breakfast was amazing, and I liked the free amenities. They had free slippers, night wear, toothbrushes, etc. I had to get used to the shared bathrooms, but it was nice, and they are female-only.
The room was tiny, and I had to be careful where I put my luggage, but it is called the Pocket Hotel, so I was expecting to have a lot of space. walls are thin, and you can hear doors opening or people laughing.

Reviewed Jul 25, 2026地理位置超級好，是在地鐵的出口旁邊，一出地鐵就到飯店了，而且離各大京都景點都很近，讓我可以玩到一半想回飯店休息就回飯店，安全性很好，因為出入不管去哪裡都要刷卡，有自己獨立的房間超級棒的，行李箱也可以完全攤開來 店員態度很好，最後一天即使checkout還可以寄放行李，出去玩回來再來拿，店員看到你不會操作機台也會很有耐心幫我用
小缺點只有燈有點太暗，雖然房間有鏡子但化妝不方便

Reviewed Jul 21, 2026My friend and I love our experience staying at The Pocket Hotel. It was conveniently located next to our favorite Japanese breakfast place. The accommodation has so many awesome amenities, such as on-site laundromat, free pajamas, slippers, umbrella and the washroom facilities has everything you need to prep yourself in order for you to get ready for your day. It is clean and safe, and the staffs are very helpful. The location is very convenient and walkable to train stations and tourist areas. We will definitely stay here again when we visit Kyoto in the future.

Reviewed Jul 20, 2026Great location – easy to reach from the station – one subway stop or about a 20-minute walk. The subway entrance is right next to the hotel, making it easy to get to the station and transfer to lines taking us to destinations throughout Kyoto. Some trains even take you to Nara without having to transfer. The hotel itself is pleasant - helpful staff from the moment of check-in, comfortable futon beds, cleanliness of the facility.
The hotel is great for a short stay. We felt great for the first two days, but the rather cramped rooms became problematic after each day. We lacked some sort of shelving unit to keep our essentials on display, so we had to drag and stow our luggage from under the beds multiple times each day. We also missed even a small sink in the room to wash our hands, as we had to go to the bathroom every time. There also seemed to be a slight shortage of women's showers – there was always a line, but this was never a problem in the men's showers.

There is a bit of a walk to main tourist areas, so it depends on what you’re looking for. At certain times the bathroom can get quite busy and may have to queue up.

В номере сыро, окно не открывается., нет расчёски.

Reviewed Jul 2, 2026Établissement très bien situé et très propre. Les chambres sont petites mais bien agencées. La possibilité d’effectuer le check in un peu plus tôt en échange d’un supplément est bien pratique. Possibilité de laisser ses bagages.

Reviewed Jul 1, 2026Très bien aménagé malgré la petite taille. Nous ne nous sommes pas du tout senti à l'étroit. Il y a tout ce qu'il faut autour pour le petit déjeuner et les courses. Bon rapport qualité prix, bon équipements et très propre.

壁が薄すぎる 廊下の音がかなり聞こえる 廊下の人がうるさいと言うわけではなく、トイレに行く人の音とかが響く これでうるさい人がいたらかなりきついと思う 部屋にはトイレがなく、フロアにまとめてあり、それは良いのだが、トイレ近くの部屋だと他の人がトイレに行く音で目が覚めうる

The room is much smaller then I thought, and you need the settle your own mattress sheets and blankets.

Śniadania każdego dnia takie same - 3 zestawy do wyboru bez możliwości modyfikacji. Cena bardzo wysoka jak na jakość pokoju i łazienki współdzielone, ale czyste.

Reviewed Jun 20, 2026Comfortable albeit small - what i was expecting - private room. Japanese-style futon, but not on the floor. Pristine shared showers, and ablution facilities. I stayed on the women's floor, and the shower/ washing facilities are women only too. Comfortable shared lounge area downstairs with simple kitchen facilities (microwave, hot water) where you can eat and work (power points). Breakfast (included) is in breakfast cafe next door - you can go in your pyjamas - choice of 3 'sets' (see photos), from Japanese to fairly western. I had mackerel every day, it was delicious! Fantastic location with Gojo metro station right outside - 1 stop to Kyoto Central train station.
Nothing - was perfect for my needs. Don't bring large luggage though, it won't fit into your room - travel light Japanese-style.
