So we arrived here for a 2 night stay to be told no chef, and could have a take away if wanted! We went to our room which was lovely it had great views it was lovely and clean, we decided to go out as no food which cost us in total 30pounds in a taxi, sophie ( reception) said the owner would put a note on the door to tell you how to get in as door would be locked after 10.30!we arrived back at 11.15 no note door locked all in darkness! If we hadn't seen a guest who let us in the fire door around back god knows what we would of done! As he said the owner had said to him and his group to leave the bar earlier and sit in another room! To which she fell flat on her face blind drunk.....we came down for breakfast which was awful..boiled bacon...yak..snotty egg,run out of beans...this hotel could be the best around its such a shame, going back to the door being locked that would of not been good if there was a fire surely!!!my husband had booked this 2 night brake as a surprise and was very disappointed by everything....apart from the staff who were amazing especially sophie and also the cleaning staff thankyou....so please think serious before you book here!!!
No chef..horrible breakfast...not being able to get back in on returning from getting food Having to go out and get food rather than stay at the hotel...
Huge, beautifully furnished bedroom and en-suite, all very clean and 'as new' condition. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Heavy, luxury, curtains to keep the light out. Large thick bathroom towels. Good WiFi. The view of the Peaks from our room was amazing. Downstairs, the lounge and dining room also had lovely furnishings in very good condition. All parts of the hotel that we saw were clean, very well presented, and beautifully maintained. Outside, there's ample parking and grounds looking direct to Dovedale. The hotel has its own footpath from the back of the hotel down to the Dovedale stepping stones, and another to Ilam Village. Short walks and very convenient - much better than driving to the Dovedale car park (which isn't cheap).
We were told the hotel had suffered a last minute cancellation by a large party, which left it under-occupied over our weekend. Consequently, there was only a skeleton staff and dinner options were limited. However, we found The Old Dog, just a 5min drive away, which did amazing food and beers, all locally sourced, and reasonable prices, so we were happy!
The view
No restraint, is was damp, ceilings falling down, couldn’t get a full breakfast, the bar glasses where filthy.
Excellent location
The location
The beds were very narrow - we are both slim and thee was only just room to run over in bed
The location is excellent for walking from the hotel and immediately into the beautiful surroundings of Dovedale, Ilam and beyond. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable with lovely views across the hills.
No information before arrival that the restaurant wasn’t functioning. Mixed messages on arrival as to why. We had planned our trip so that we wouldn’t have to drive once we had arrived at the hotel but ended up driving around trying to find somewhere to eat - many places fully booked on a Saturday night! The bathroom and room decor were both a bit dated. The choice of wall art around the room was strange (all three large pictures were “classics” but depicted 3 unhappy looking women and then 4 picture of local flora) The guest information was printed on paper and then laminated with obvious spelling and grammar errors. General feeling was that behind the scenes was struggling.
Great location for walking Excellent staff Beautiful views from the room
Kitchen was closed while I stayed but was given a great recommendation nearby
View - Breakfast adequate. Dinner, over priced and lengthy waiting due to lack of staff. Main dining room not used for dinner due to lack of guests so small dining room at back of hotel
Shower over bath not working and we are in our 80's and could not use the bath. It was reported but not resolved. Staff showed no enthusiasm for their work.
Amazing Location. Staff friendly and helpful. Bit like stepping back in time & off the world for a couple of days.
Shower over Bath was bit dated, but adequate. Shower screen leaked is
Location was lovely
Described as "fine dining". Breakfast was poor, meal in evening barely adequate. Have stayed here before and sadly this hotel is now very run down.
location very good
driveway need attention and breakfast served cold
Superb scenery. Comfortable bed and decent car parking
Breakfast poor. Lack of fruit proper yogurt and pastries. Cooked buffet OK.
Location and character
Bathroom very tied and in need of a refresh. Breakfast plates and food needs to be kept warm, very cold.
Beautiful location, peaceful and quiet, friendly and helpful bar and restaurant staff, great food.
Just the first night took 1hour from ordering to actually getting evening meal, but it was excellent when it arrived
Beautiful location and area very peaceful and picturesque. Twin room was spacious Bar and restaurant staff seemed very new and not highly skilled, however they were very friendly and attentive which was lovely. The evening meal was very good and good value with a good selection
It was a very basic hotel, tired bedroom and bathroom, Receptionist was quite poor with her manner not hugely welcoming and seemingly inpatient. TV signal in room kept cutting out, but only used TV for short period before sleep Shower was hot, but very weak in pressure Would say it's expensive for the quality at £150 a night
Quirky countryside hotel- in the middle of nowhere with fantastic views. Staff were few in number but worked really hard.
Breakfast was very disappointing- we stayed here about 3 years ago, and there was a huge choice, with hot breakfast cooked to order. Not any more- just a basic English, which we're not keen on. No fresh fruit or milk alternatives on display.
The setting is stunning
All of the rooms, both public & and private, are extremely dated. The place is quite austere. Breakfast was only just warm. Dinner was passable. The lounge/ bar area was not appealing or comfortable to sit in. The toilet didn't flush properly. The shower was no warmer than cool, and the fixtures for it were faulty.
Location is amazing!
Service was poor- though this is possibly due to not having enough around!! All staff were extremely friendly, but clearly under pressure, so made mistakes and just didn't offer the same standards we have had in the past. The main restaurant was closed, so the only option was a bar meal-limited choice, but acceptable. If we were wanting a special meal, we would have been extremely disappointed. The decor was dated inside AND outside...this could be an absolute gem, but it will need serious investment to make it as great as it was.
I’ve been coming here for years, firstly as a child with my parents for a drink after a walk in Dovedale and latterly on my own or with family. The location is second to none and service is always good. Glad to see some vegan options on the menu as my last visit was with my son who is vegan
Online menu needs updating to show vegan options
What a lovely hotel in an amazing location. The room was big with great views. Staff were friendly and ready to meet customer’s needs. Both dinner and breakfast were good with plenty of choice.
The hotel is tired looking in places but it is an old building and the upkeep must be huge and costly
On arrival the kitchens were unavailable so no evening meal and no proper breakfast the following morning.
Location was amazing! And the breakfast was very decent
N/A
Lovely room with view, excellent bed.
The breakfast. Very poor. The cooked food had been out for an hour, the bacon was very overcooked. When I asked for a freshly cooked egg, even that was very overcooked. The second day we got to the room for breakfast at 8.40 and even then I think the cooked food had been out for ages by the state of the bacon and eggs.
Everything
Couldn't get a cold drink in the morning, eg.ice cold Coke, either a fridge in the room, or a vending machine would be perfect. Everything else was perfect.
The location was great and the breakfast was very nice.
The staff were very unhelpful. The room was large but smelt of smoke and was full of flies and wasps.
Personally I would have preferred breakfast to start sooner but we were on holiday and didn't need to be in a rush.
The hotel had loads of old world charm, the surrounding countryside was outstanding as was the piece and quiet. The staff were very friendly and always helpful. The hotel was central to where we wanted to visit on our holiday.
Location was good near to stepping stone.
They provided me inferior room and the one which i booked (double room with a view) was told isn’t available and that there is nothing that they could do and that i should check with booking.com for any concerns. On reaching to Booking.com they said they ate waiting for property to respond and they can’t do much about it. It’s a bad experience where you book a room for nice view and experience but it turns out to be sour because of poor management.
Fabulous location.
Hotel either has been or must be in process of changing ownership. Service poor due to lack of staff. Bar had no beer. Evening meal main course took 1hr 20 to arrive, my dish was cold and not as described on menu. No apology from waitress or any attempt to mitigate when I pointed this out. Breakfast was dire - stone cold plates, basic catering quality produce. Booked Aug 2024 when reviews were 5/5 so paid over the odds for stay in Aug 2025. Hotel was lovely when stayed before, now going down the pan. Beyond disappointed.
Lovely room (no. 21) with excellent views over Dovedale. Friendly staff and very good dinner (celebrating an anniversary).
Breakfast was very basic - only one type of egg (fried), only tinned chopped tomatoes (not even plum tomatoes), no mushrooms. Toast choice was either white or mixed (no wholewheat bread). One choice of juice and no fresh fruit salad. Marmalade was in pouches and was almost like syrup. Very disappointing.
Room was very spacious and clean. Very comfy, large bed. Kettle, hairdryer, TV - good amenities in the room.
Only 2 tea bags in the room and we asked for a couple more please, which were supplied with some sugar. The following day, we purchased our own tea bags and left them alongside the kettle (along with some sugar given to us from a cafe we visited in Ashbourne). However, on arrival back in our room on our last evening, the tea bags and sugar had all been REMOVED! This was not impressive at all. Also, as we left after breakfast the following morning, we handed in the key and confirmed nothing else to pay, and we're not even asked if we had enjoyed our stay. We only saw a handful of staff. One of which was someone who I believed to be the chef, bringing lunches to table, who wore the dirtiest tea towel I'd ever seen hanging from the waist of his apron.
The location is lovely, views amazing, really relaxing and chilled out few days. Rooms comfy, Food Good. Staff helpful and pleasent.
Bank Holiday weekend, so really busy, traffic terrible, did expect it, so not too much of an issue.
Area
Needs an update
I can't fault this place.been before but stayed longer this time. will be booking for next year for even longer.love it here ,our little gem and only 1hr away. Don't change it.
The property was lovely clean and welcoming staff friendly and approachable
I didn’t like the fact we booked evening meal at the restaurant one night table booked for 7.15 pm got our meal at 9pm
Location is great for walkers. Room was comfortable and quiet if a little old-fashioned. The bar area could also do with a refurb. The main restaurant is closed we had to eat in the bar.
Food disappointing: restaurant food was poor, overpriced for what it was, and service on the day we ate there was chaotic. (Not helped by a drunken guest kicking off, which was not the hotel’s fault). Breakfast was out of the 1960s: tinned grapefruit and stewed prunes were the main fruit on offer, and the food, like fried eggs, prepared in batches which soon went cold.
Great location and good view from room. Bar food was excellent.
All guest phones were inoperable. No decent WiFi in room and TV speaker was crackly. Manager tried to help and offered us another room but we declined as only 1 day left. Breakfast was disappointing as only fruit option was prunes and grapefruit, the latter was not advised due to medication. Fried eggs over done. Staff tried to help but it seemed they hadn’t got any power to do anything about it. Perhaps price should be raised so the quality of the past can be restored.
The hotel is well located with great views. The room was comfortable and the food was excellent The staff were really helpful and friendly but dramatically overworked.
The hotel suffers from a severe staff shortage. One lady was expected to man reception, run the bar and serve food in the restaurant and the bar area. She also had to repair the toaster and the printer. This is impossible for one person. Consequently a number of jobs were not done properly. The tables for dinner were double booked causing huge delays for food, the tables were not cleaned after use, the rooms were not made up in a timely fashion, they ran out of beer and sparkling water. On one day neither the bar nor breakfast area were open on time. The person who we believe to be the manager sat in the bar eating her dinner and chatting to friends. She would have been better used in recruiting more staff or more radically rolling her sleeves up and helping her beleaguered staff. When one member of staff said she was going home after a 12 hour shift with a 45 minute drive home to follow the “manager” said that she herself had been there longer than that!!
Peaceful and quiet in beautiful nature and close to a lovely small village. No shopping. Very nice people, felt like I found a new friend in the owner.
Peace and quiet Bed was very comfortable Breakfast was good Lots of walking tracks
Breakfast was abit late 8.30am start
Superb location for walking in Derbyshire Dales. The room was spacious and very clean . Lovely view from room. Unlimited hot water. The bathroom was large. Cooked breakfast was good quality when available. Reception and other frontline staff were polite and cheerful often against the odds.
Far too feeble a choice of continental style breakfast. Cereals and ultra-processed bread. No fresh fruit, croissants or eg cheeses. Too much reliance on the cooked breakfast, which was not available on two occasions during our stay. This was despite the manager's reassurance it wouldn't happen again after the first time. The hotel grounds are very neglected. Hotel guests can not add things to the room tab - everything has to be paid for as ordered. This led to us choosing elsewhere to eat and drink in the evenings.
Beautiful location and comfortable clean room and the staff (what there were of them) were great except for one very rude senior manager of asian persausion. Ideally placed for hiking the Dovedale area.
One rude senior staff member, food poor (no chef) and lack of staff to attend residents needs. Numerous people were turned away as there was no sunday lunch and none of the cream teas they once offered
- Location! Breath-taking view, easy access to Stepping Stones - ample car parking - great views from the room
- basic customer service, no flexibility in regards to check-in time or breakfast (literally we were made to the nearest minute), also breakfast starts 8:30am which felt a bit too late. - no fridge in the room - bedding is on the budget side, with unbreathable polyester duvet - breakfast was very basic - bathroom was a bit outdated, though underfloor heating was a good touch - nothing to do with the hotel, but the road is very stressful (narrow, single lane with a lot of traffic both ways coming to and from Stepping Stones)
Magnificent location in easy walking distance of the spectacular Dove valley and river, with great walks all around.
A little dated, and we understand from the owner why this is and what she is planning to do to improve it.
The Breakfast was very good ,plenty of choice .The Location is excellent, especially for walks , and as a lovely base for the Peak District. Our Bedroom 15 , was a King Room , and it was truly lovely .The grounds of the Hotel are in need of some serious attention ,as is some of the outside seating .
The Food we had for an Evening meal was not that great , always Prawn Cocktail that was Spicy And you couldn't taste the prawns. T he Steak and Ale pie , left a lot to be desired. Hardly any Steak , what there was were diced pieces, which were very small. Didn't bother with a sweet ,based on what the first two courses were like . My wife's Lasagne was dry and overcooked .
We stayed with lower expectations based on previous reviews. I don't know if it's under new management but I found the staff welcoming, happy and incredibly helpful. The room was spacious, clean, well provided for and had the views had we hoped for. The breakfast was fantastic. I had a full English but there were other options. It was buffet style, so one could really load up for the day! The location is absolutely amazing, being only a ten minute walk from Dovedale stepping stones, the Dovedale to Milldale walk, Thorpe Cloud and a short walk to Ilam and it's National Trust property. Plus, it is quiet at night. As you have read above, I found it very difficult to square my experience with other reviews and wished that I had stayed another night instead of moving on to a different place that we had previously booked.
I guess the mattress was hard for me. However, bed and mattress comfort is down to very personal taste. Some will consider that the décor is rather old fashioned and some investment here might be beneficial. Nonetheless, this also gives it a certain "time gone by" charm as well. We didn't use the restaurant. So, can't comment on the evening meal experience.
Location fabulous. Full English breakfast was non existent on 2nd day due to “chef not turning up”. The advertised 2 star rosette restaurant closed down several months ago & only evening food is from the bar & according to other guests is often very limited. Arrived early at 2.00pm & greeted with a barked “check in does not open until 3.00 love!”. No smile, no hello. Grudgingly agreed to store suitcase. Arrived back at 3.00 & passed by same lady leaving the reception are, who completely ignored us. The reception was empty & eventually managed to find a gentleman working in the bar who checked us in. Room had fabulous view & altho dated & with poor over bath shower was satisfactory. However, finding a disgusting looking bra behind the suitcase stand was unexpected & not pleasant!
Checkin was an unpleasant experience due to attitude of one particular lady. Most hotels will check if your room is ready should you arrive slightly early but no such offer here. Breakfast & restaurant not as advertised. Room not fully checked prior to releasing.
Room was clean but needed refreshing. Window fastenings had been removed.
Lack of communication - asked for some room comforts - milk, sugar etc and was told a meeting was more important than my request. Evening bar staff were curt. Reception staff informed us of breakfast times but failed to say when cooked breakfasts were available, hence we waited for 30 minutes before anyone arrived with hot food. Was entirely self service - not what was expected given the price of the stay.
The hotel is located in a very beautiful area with a lovely view. It has large windows, a comfortable bed, good lighting, a clean bathroom, and a peaceful atmosphere with spacious surroundings. However, there are a few areas that need improvement: The plates during breakfast were not clean enough. The kettle in the room was not working properly and posed a safety risk, as it did not turn off even when there was no water inside. The floor made noise when walking over it. Despite these issues, we enjoyed our stay overall. The hotel met our expectations, although the price was slightly high.
The hotel is located in a very beautiful area with a lovely view. It has large windows, a comfortable bed, good lighting, a clean bathroom, and a peaceful atmosphere with spacious surroundings.
Personalen gjorde verkligen hela vistelsen fantastiskt!
Location and the faded elegance of what was a country house hotel. Bedroom was clean, functional and comfortable, The few members of staff who we encountered were friendly.
Main Restaurant not functioning, although we had booked a table there. 2 staff members running the bar and bar-restaurant on a busy Fri night were woefully rushed off their feet. After 1hr+ wait, and still waiting for starters, the waitress announced to the room in general that there would be delays because there was only 1 hob and 1 chef working in the kitchen. Breakfast not served till 0830 - later than advertised elsewhere - a lacklustre table of simple fare; the single waiter then announced there was no hot food because chef hadn’t come in. Cereals, tinned fruit, yoghurt and white sliced bread with sachet jams fall short of even a continental breakfast. Although the rooms are sold on B&B basis,
Breakfast was excellent The staff coped really well in providing evening meals with broken kitchen facilities
Phone didn't work Extractor fan didn't work Slow broadband
Lovely location
Tv wasn’t working in room got moved to another but then had to move again as double booked. No proper breakfast as chef off sick. No evening dinner available
Location was beautiful and the hotel was very reasonably priced
Better outside seating
The view
No breakfast, no staff, no manager, no response, no care
Location, location, location (the only + unfortunately). It’s a spectacular spot overlooking the mouth of Dovedale and Thorpe Cloud. BUT that seems to give license for terrible facilities & poor service; if it didn’t have the view, I’d imagine it would have shut in the 1970s (which looks to be when it was last cleaned / maintained). I can however highly recommend enjoying full moon from the field outside. And the young staff are very helpful, although seem out of depth.
Main issue is overpricing - for £130+ you expect a bit of quality. Value would have been a stretch at £50 - ‘very tired motorway services motel’ vibe with ancient peeling decor, dated furnishings, loose door handles etc. Seems to be furnished from car boot sales, Doesn’t look to have had any investment since 1970s. Food - breakfast very uninviting: limited selection of cheap, processed oddities. No fruit beyond huge bowl of syruped prunes, huge bowl of gloopy sauce with the odd baked bean swimming for its life, and the most plasticky “eggs” I’ve ever seen - yolks all white and hard like they’d been cooked by nuclear fallout. No food before 8.30, which is bonkers if you’re visiting the Peak District to actually go out and do anything. I had a late arrival (9.30pm) due to v long journey, and hotel driveway was difficult to find - no signs that can be seen in the dark, no lighting in car park or to hotel entrance, and most hotel lights were off: I assumed there’d been a power cut! Young girl on reception was very helpful and friendly, but left as soon as I’d checked in and I couldn’t detect whether any staff were actually on site over night. Luckily I had a bottle of wine and some nibbles in boot of my car! Really needs either a substantial modernisation to make it worth the £££, or halve the prices to reflect state of place. I fear the lovely location probably enables absentee owners to get away with running it as Fawlty Towers without the staffing - people will always book for the view (exactly as I did!). If you’re seeking Dovedale, Go spend £18 (1/7th the price) down the road at Ilam YHA, which you’ll find much better kitted out despite being only a youth hostel!
Its location.
The property is dated yet quirky. I imagine with some investment and love it could be amazing!
There was no gluten free food and there was no breakfast in the morning
It was disgusting no food said the gas was off and no cook
Omgeving is prachtig.
Fantastic location; very quiet and excellent food in bar.
Breakfast a bit ordinary
Not a lot to be true full
Abysmal breakfast conditions with a continous lack of products and service. The worst my wife and i have ever experienced.
Great views. Iconic old hotel. Quiet spot close by superb walks.
Staff are all going up a steep learning curve after change of owners. Kitchen issues meant a very long wait for only adequate dinner. Breakfast doesn't start till 8:30am and was not great e.g. no mushrooms, ultraprocessed cereals only, no fruit, ultraprocessed bread etc. A bit tatty outside - needs some TLC.
Location
Faulty towers could not have been worse!
Breakfast was decent but spoiled by not having all of the hot food items available at the same time. The location is perfect for walking.
The option to have dinner at the property - one of our main reasons for wishing to stay here (along with location) was not available, but we didn’t discover this until we arrived to check in. We were told it was a due to a problem in the kitchen that had occurred only that day. However, somewhat bothered by this reason, we looked up recent reviews, only to find that this issues had occurred more than one already this month and also towards the end of last month. We therefore found the explanation at reception on check-in unacceptable. Furthermore, the water pressure in our room was barely adequate, especially for the shower.
location was exceptional, our room overlooked the mountains providing the tranquillity of the location of the hotel. Breakfast was included in the price and was buffet style with plenty of cold and cooked options.
would have liked to have had a meal in the restaurant but the was a technical fault in the kitchens which they sincerely apologised for and did provide us with hot food in the bar.
Location is great .
The kitchen was closed , I rang the hotel to book a table in the restaurant, they're ment to do fine dining , to be told to ring back in an hour , I rang back 2 hrs later to still be told they didn't know if there was any room , I was told that they would ring me back , did they ?? No they didn't, I eventually turned up to check in and noticed information to say the kitchen was closed , funnily enough the kitchen was open for breakfast the next morning, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone as the communications from staff is unreliable and an honest answer to the kitchen would of been a better policy .I believe they only open the fine dining if enough people book the restaurant which should be clear when booking , Obviously this is my opinion.
Location was perfect. Great views and ideally located for lots of walks. Breakfast was lovely, and easy. A great buffet which was a mix of cooked (eggs , sausages etc) and cereals, yoghurt etc
Although the sheets were clean, you could see a few old marks on them that really shouldn't have been there.
Stunning location with excellent walks straight from the door. Nice decor.
No food available first evening and partial and slow service the second. Breakfast buffet cold one day.
Lovely location. Fine room.
Expensive and sub par breakfast.
The location is beautiful. Hotel is comfortable. Bedoom was clean and bed very comfortable. Good places for the dog to walk in the garden.
Staff were surly and quite abrupt except for the owner who was much friendlier. Had to eat breakfast in a 'dog friendly' side room nowhere near the main dining room. We were not allocated a dog friendly room as we hadn't specified that when booking. My booking clearly states we were travelling with a dog.I don't think they bothered to read the request and said 'Booking.com were rubbish'. The hotel is looking shabby and the gardens are becoming overgrown. Breakfast was extremely poor and things were not replaced quickly. They are suffering from staff shortages which presumably led to the poor service.
Stunning views, fantastic walks. Delicious food and great breakfast.
The wasps
Location perfect but breakfast was a lottery asto what you could have as run out of bread ,eggs, bacon, waiting far food and depending on what time you went far breakfast waiting far staff
Room ok apart from bathroom toilet water running constantly ballcock kept comming off as lid on cistern which was room 233
The location
The room was shabby, the breakfast was very average and they ran out of food after less than half way through the allocated time. Staff were disinterested.
The Location was fantastic and would visit again but maybe different hotel stay. The staff in the Bar was friendly and helpful.
The ensuite shower didn't work, had an air lock and had to wait about 15 / 20 minutes for water to start flowing from it. The next day we weren't able have any water from the shower - felt very let down. They didn't change our towels as we were told the policy was that guests had to use the same towel for minimum of two days or change only when they become dirty. At breakfast they kept running out of food, the wait was very long and embarrassing - However the food it self was very tasty when you were able to fill your plate with all items - ie full English Not all items were available at any one given time. This reminded me of Faulty Towers.. The Owner was very doctoral and full of their achievements - No interest in how the guest's are enjoying or how the stay can be improved. The building itself requires major update. No sure if I would stay there again.
The location is beautiful with great walks from the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable.
Waited 1.5 hours to get our evening meal after ordering. Food very pleasant but not good value for money. Breakfast on the first morning was a shambles and the choices very poor. Seemed to be very short staffed and no one managing any problems.
The public areas of the hotel are quite plush but the rooms are in need of a bit of TLC. That said, ours was very comfortable and clean with a stunning view, so all good. Bar staff very attentive and some nice local ales on offer. The location is perfect for walkers and the grounds nicely kept.
The staff weren’t exactly bad but it’s like not one of them had ever worked in a hotel before. I understand the place has recently changed hands so that might be it. Didn’t seem to be enough of them to keep things running smoothly. Breakfast was hilarious - not served until 08:30, which is quite late especially if you’re off out walking - there was very little choice, most of the food was gone by quarter past 9 and no sign of any eggs until gone 9. The food itself was good quality and was eventually replenished but people were openly complaining about the poor service in the breakfast room. The water pressure in the rooms was nonexistent and the water lukewarm at best. Glasses and rubbish left in the outside seating area for hours at a time.
Very little
Inflexibility of checking-in, mis-lead regarding where we were to dine in the evening, and above all, the length of time it took to have Dinner
The location is beautiful. Food is quality but for the price you don't get enough.
Staff closing the breakfast down too early then leaving the door open for an infestation of wasps to come in, so many couldn't finish breakfast. Reception man very rude said good morning and was ignored. The lady who I think own the bar and restaurant has her meals there and whilst you have a small portion she certainly doesn't it, eats every night in the lounge by the restaurant.
Good breakfast,great location.
Went to check in and wasn't even acknowledged for over five minutes. It was our wedding anniversary and they had no chef ,so no dinner available which they knew about beforehand and didn't notify us. We had booked a table for dinner so why did they take the booking?
Reception was very unfriendly. It felt like we have to please him, No hello, please or thank you. Dinner was a disaster. 2 hours 30 minutes to have a starter and main. There were 8 other tables; who also had to wait. Breakfast in the morning was marginally better.
Breakfast could been better. Vary understandable as chef was unwell so 8/10
Nothing was happy they done there best. Prices drink little over in bar for gin lot places r
