Had a nice view
I felt the manager was rude The room was not as clean as it could be and when I opened the milk it had curdled it was awful I also had the breakfast waited ages for tea and served others who were clearly regulars Also cheese had mould on it
The location of this property suited us perfectly as we needed somewhere close to where we wanted to walk in the Peak District. It's a family business and I believe we met most if not all of the very lovely family. They, and the other staff, were extremely friendly and helpful.
Only slightly disappointing was the poor broadband signal in our room. Reception in the lobby area had to suffice.
The staff were incredibly helpful. The atmosphere was very nice and friendly. It was a great place to stay in preparation for the game of golf I was playing after my departure.
Good food and comfortable rooms
No Safe
Location
Couldn’t have 2 showers (2 people, 1 shower each) as water went cold on first shower. Chalet style stay expensive dog charge for 1 night. Breakfast misleading extra price.
Different. Accommodation in chalets away from the main building.
Price for what you got
Fantastic location and staff attitude
Management attitude, it was great customer and very personal welcoming
The location, the rooms are nice and comfortable. There's plenty to eat for breakfast. The evening meal was excellent.
The wifi was very poor, it kept dropping put
Lovely old main building and pub, accommodation in the grounds - chalet style. Room was cosy, clean and had everything we needed. Fab location for Peak Wildlife Park and Alton Towers.
Nothing
Comfortable bed, good shower. It was good that you had your own key to the property It was also good that you could park at your room
All fine
A very welcoming, homely environment, friendly staff who were all keen to help or advise when needed :) The room was clean with parking right outside your room, a large play area to explore with kids of all ages and a really cute little shop where you could buy soft toys, cards, ping pong bat ! Great little spot will 100% be returning
A very very slight dislike, was the price/options for food, but I think this due to the location, but there were plenty of options around a 10 min drive away ! Oh also make sure you download things to your phone or tablet as the signal is non existent and WiFi isn't the best but the views most certainly make it worth it
Location, food was really nice - staff super helpful & friendly
Bathroom layout really weird - toilet so close to bath. Felt a bit overpriced for what it was

Was a really friendly cosy place ever I would recommend it to anyone. Me and my daughter loved it , the food was outstanding I would recommend to anyone and is in a prime place if visiting Alton towers ( I would like to thank all of the staff and ppl we met for our stay we will definitely be going back Thank you Paul and Katie x
Nothing
Friendly family run inn. Great breakfast, comfy beds and excellent location.
We didn’t stay longer!
Staff vey friendly and helpful.
The room was in serious need of redecoration, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable, hardly slept.
Friendly staff, good food, good location.
Lack of air con made the room very hot in summer.
Everything, was great to be back as last here when we were very young with Parents
Nothing has was exceptional!
Staff very nice and kind and very good food and a lot of choices for breakfast for kids and adults ;-)
Lovely setting
Disappointing in breakfast as it says included but when looking at the menu in the morning you had to pay for the cooked breakfast.
I liked the individual chalets and that you can park your car right outside your room. Breakfast was good value with a great selection of cereals. The addition of sunflower, pumpkin and chia seeds was great and lots of fresh fruit.
I would have liked a few fish dishes on the dinner menu and one of our group had trouble with the wifi and TV reception.
Everything.

Large accommodation and friendly staff
Nothing
The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the food was amazing.
The blanket was a bit heavy so took it out of the covers and slept under the sheet
Really pleased to stay there. I was a little suprised the rooms weren’t in the building, but that was my own fault for not researching enough. The rooms were absolutely fine. Very clean and quiet. I’d happily stay again. Cooked breakfast is the cheapest I’ve had in a decade. I hate to say it. But it should be more.
The location is the only downside in terms of options. But if you’re driving. It’s no issue
Breakfast was nice and staff friendly.
Room was very “tired” looking and for the price paid was expecting a lot more (as I have paid far less in the past for better facilities). Walls were very thin, and we could hear the next-door neighbour most of the night.
Staff were very friendly. Amazing views from the patio.
The dated separate bedrooms reminded me of butlins.
Staff were very pleasant and views in garden terrace were very nice. Food good.
The motel style units are somewhat dated but inside were surprisingly spacious.
Location was ideal for Alton Towers and the rooms were great (you could park directly outside the room). Dinner was excellent.
Only continental breakfast was included. This was good but it felt misleading not to mention that on the description.

The setting the relaxed atmosphere, the cheerful and helpful staff,, closeness to lovely towns, villages.
No air con..
Poor accommodation facilities 🙁
Our room was clean and comfortable. We had dinner at the restaurant which was lovely.
Great location lovely chalet type room. Parking under a canopy was good as it was exceptionally hot. Lots of tea & coffee, bathroom well stocked. The room was immaculately and very clean. The staff were excellent nothing was to much trouble. Lovely terrace area. Dave on reception was very helpful and very welcoming. Other staff very attentive but not over the top. Good choice of evening meal and upgraded breakfast which was plentiful and good value for money.
Nothing I had a lovely stay.
The food overall was excellent! The staff wore smiles all day long, nothing was too much trouble.
I love the little cabins, gives a nice feel instead of a chaotic hotel, staff where amazing we didnt arrive until 10 past 9 at night but they where more than happy to keep the kitchen open for us which was fab. Staff where extremely pleasant had plenty time for us, overall a lovely stay
Central location and very good food.
Marmalade was not available with breakfast.
Staff friendly and helpful. Food was very nice with plenty to choose from at breakfast. Sunday Lunch was very nice too. The atmosphere in the pub was friendly and relaxed and nothing was too much trouble. As Arnie said We'll be back !!
The Weather was too hot
Staff
Expensive, worn down, uncomfortable beds, musky smell in rooms, poor lay out of rooms
The location was excellent, the property was pretty clean and spacious. The area around the property was beautiful. The food was lovely and the staff were very friendly.
Nothing, it was all lovely
Breakfast excellent staff very friendly /helpfull my car was parked outside my door....
..all good
The beds were very comfortable, there was five of us and the room was prefect size for us all. The evening meals were lovely and staff where very friendly and helpful.
There is a park for the kids there, but its a little dated and needs a little bit of TLC, but my two still played on it all anyway.
Character property with great food
Family room for one person was a mismatch and felt a bit hidehi.
We were a family of four staying at this property and overall our experience was disappointing, especially considering we had one of the largest rooms. 1. The beds were quite uncomfortable and did not provide a good night’s sleep. 2. Although the room was spacious, the cleanliness was below the standard we expected. Overall, I did not feel this place offered good value for money.
The hotel is situated at quite convenient location.
My husband and I loved the location. Ideal for our trip to Matlock, Derby, Gladstone Pottery We stayed 3 nights. The chalets are a fab idea. Don't like the idea of stopping above a pub due to the potential loud noises from the bar. The added bonus was being able to park in the car port next to our chalet. Our room had the basic stuff, like tea, coffee, a kettle, toiletries (oh and that handsoap smelt beautiful!) as well as a hairdryer. It got cool at times in the room so being able to adjust the heating accordingly was a plus. I am a very bad sleeper at home and get up between 4 and 6 times a night. Not during our stay! I was up once on 1 night and twice the other nights. The bed and pillows are so much more comfortable than home. We ate an evening meal in the restaurant on our first evening. The food was gorgeous and done to our liking. We ate breakfast each morning. Loved the continental breakfast, plenty to chose from. Included was coffee, juice and toast. We did have a cooked breakfast the 2nd morning and on the 3rd morning, my husband had the Staffordshire Oatcakes stuffed with bacon and mushrooms. The first time he had Oatcakes and he loved them. The staff were lovely and chatty. Highly recommend stopping here.
The step in to the chalet is a bit on the high side. Getting in to the bath for a shower is also high. I suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis so struggled getting in the bath for my shower. We couldn't use the 2nd plug next to the kettle as the plug would not go in. I did leave a note just incase the owner wasn't aware. Could do with a couple of comfier chairs to relax in. The 2 there, didn't help us relax but that's just my preference. I am in no way taking away what a great stay we had
The breakfast choice was excellent .The room.was comfortable and very clean.. All the staff from when we arrived to when we departed were very friendly and helpful.
Had a pleasant stay at the D&P . We were visiting a couple of places locally and this accommodation fitted the bill for us as two couples. The accomodation was clean and pleasant with tea and coffee in the room. The pub did some great food and a fair selection with a couple of cask ales some local bottled ales and good selection of wines and spirits. The staff were very peasant and helpful . Definitely no complaints in that department.
I've stayed in a fair few pubs as it's my preference, I like the idea of having a nice meal followed by a few beers in the bar then going up to the room afterwards. The slightly unusual thing about this place was the accommodation was a selection of chalets at the rear of the pub which you obviously had to walk to. Not a great distance but possibly a pain if it's raining . Also the bar closed at 10. We had to have last orders about 9.50. so we had an enforced early night which we weren't expecting as we were here with friends and we were looking forward to a bit more time together.Maybe I missed this in the write up but all the same, fairly early for a Friday. Also be aware if you want a cooked breakfast it's an extra 7.50 as you only get a continental breakfast included, which to be fair was nice with a fair selection of items, but it's the first I've stayed in with no cooked breakfast included. Overall it's a decent place to stay if you like an early night and a continental breakfast.
Clean chalets and friendly staff
Cooked breakfast should be in the price
Location!
Didn’t realise we’d be in a chalet in the grounds! It was perfectly clean and comfortable though
Good value for money. The continental breakfast was more than just a continental breakfast. There was so much choice. We dined in the restaurant for one evening meal. Again, there was a lot of choice and the portions were generous. The quality of the food was exceptional. The staff were all pleasant, interactive and couldn’t do enough for you. This is our second stay at this property. We stayed here for a two day visit to Alton Towers. This is located five minutes away, making this a convenient place to stay. I would stay here again and highly recommend.

Setting and surroundings of accommodation. Location to local attractions. Welcoming and attentive staff. Facilities/provisions available on site.
High step into accommodation. A number of outdoor trip hazards. Stability and Condition of steps/pathways at rear of venue to access accommodation. Rear pathways access restricted by Overgrown bushes. Exciting of location by car.
Nice and quite in a good location.
More better vegan options .
nothing
I am very disappointed with the breakfast experience. The fried bread was extremely greasy, as though it had been soaked in oil that was not even properly heated. My children became unwell and vomited after eating it. The scrambled eggs were also very unappetising, and the bacon was undercooked and still white in parts. The breakfast was far too expensive for the poor quality provided. When making the booking, it was not made clear that only a cold breakfast was included and that a hot breakfast required an additional payment. This felt misleading and deceptive. In addition, the reception staff and the manager were very rude and spoke in a harsh, unwelcoming tone, which made the experience even worse. I have eaten breakfast in many restaurants and hotels before, but this was by far one of the worst breakfast experiences I have ever had.
Beautiful location, clean room, great service!
Nothing! Would highly recommend!
Pleasant staff, convenient location and everything we needed on site
Bedrooms were clean and comfortable, helpful and friendly staff, breakfast buffet (included) had a wide range of options. Our son also had a hot breakfast (additional cost) and loved it. We ate in the restaurant too - generous portions of good food. Adults especially liked the amount of fresh fruit and veg on offer (breakfast and dinner), teens liked the big burger and chocolate brownie dessert! View from the back of the property is lovely. Our kids are too big for the park now (at 16 and 19) but when they were younger, we would definitely have used it to burn off the last bit of energy before bed.
Nothing - everything was as expected or better (check the photos so you know what you’re getting)
Staff were super friendly went above and beyond! The lady who was at the desk I’m guessing the owner, I can’t thank her enough for saving us with a bobble! Also food was really good in the evening and breakfast was a good choice of cereal etc. we did upgrade 2 of our breakfast which were well worth the upgrade. Rooms were comfy and did the job for what we needed. Like how we had our own parking by our room too.
Pretty location, clean chalet ,spacious for two, continental breakfast, beautifully presented and very tasty. Evening menu, wholesome and tasty. Owners and staff, friendly and professional , creating a great atmosphere.
Having to leave .
Staff are very friendly and food was very good
Toilet positioned too close to bath to be comfortable
All the staff were excellent and did everything to make the stay a pleasant experience
Friendly staff, fine accommodation
Paying extra for a cooked breakfast
Individual chalets, good food
No covered access between chalets and dining room
The staff were excellent, friendly and very accommodating to requests. The food was great and what we expected for the country pub setting. The rooms were well equipped and comfortable.
The seating in the bar area could do with a refresh.
Clean and welcoming
Nothing
Driving in or out was difficult as they were on a slope and tight turn. Whole room could do with a refurbishment.
Entrance and exit.
All staff are very welcome, friendly and helpful. The room was very clean.
Clean. Lovely staff.
Drive in car park was small.
Ideal location with really welcoming staff. The chalets are set back from the main restaurant and pub so are quiet and comfortable.
No issues
The location was very good for our visit to the Peak District, the staff were professional and friendly, they had over 70 people at an event so they were extremely busy, beds were comfortable food was good and parking outside our room 5*
It was ideal for our planned activities. Our chalet no 3 was very comfortable and well set up. We liked the food quality and quantity - we had the continental breakfast each day which gave plenty of choice. The coffee was good . The dinner menu gave good variety and was excellent in all respects. The staff were friendly and very attentive.
Nothing not to like
Everything about my stay was enjoyable. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Any questions were dealt with immediately. A very enjoyable experience and hopefully I will be staying again in the future.
Nothing not to like.
Very friendly staff, good food and great location
We were in a suite of rooms. One of the bunk bed rooms had no window, the main room with the double bed only had a door for ventilation, we always sleep with an open window. We used the window in the other room.
Breakfast was very good - exactly as described, the dinner menu had good variety of choice and was generous and tasty, the room was adequate, but just a littler musty - it needed a good air. We had 2 dogs with us and we were very happy with the arrangements. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Great stay. Room was very comfortable and bathroom very modern. We had an evening meal and continental breakfast in the pub which were both excellent.
WiFi was a bit slow in the room
Location good for enjoying beautiful countryside in the Peak District National Park. The food was good, home-cooked and tasty.
The bedroom was a chalet with plastic bathroom
How close it was to Alton towers, good selection on menu and were very accommodating for my children
Able to help yourself to fruit juice in the morning was our only comment, other than that wonderful stay
The location
The rock hard uncomfortable beds . The general manager was very strange
Great location- close to Alton towers, child friendly, great accommodation and very friendly staff.
Would have been nice if the “hot breakfast” was included with the breakfast included.
