A beautiful property, well maintained

Much more expensive than similar local properties nearby without any additional benefit. I had family members staying at a resort a few doors down which provided the same comfort levels and view for much less than half the price. Do not bother paying extra for sea view rooms as this is obscured by the pool and deck chairs

So close to the beach - the sounds of the waves just fantastic and really clean area. Not to mention the actual Turtle nest just on the edge of the property. Very quiet and very relaxing

For Sea Swimmers - while you can swim from time to time - you do need to be careful and not always doable if waves are particularly high. That said this didnt really bother us and pool is so close to beach you can have a dip and get the best of both worlds

The villa/room was fantastic, ours was huge and had a separate bedroom and lounge area. Very clean, great housekeeping team, pleasant staff, and generally the whole place was really well looked after. The pool area is gorgeous, and it’s right on Rekawa beach which is peaceful and beautiful

Only point of improvement is that we thought the restaurant could have been better. Mostly westernised food, it was OK but nothing special (the Sri Lankan curry was the best dish we tried by far).

The hotel is located on the beach itself, which is beautiful, but wild at the same time. The location is quite far from the center of Tangalle, there are only a few small hotels in the area, so all the time you feel as if you are in nature. That relaxed and easy-going atmosphere and connection with nature is actually the best that this hotel can offer. The staff is very friendly, especially Ivan, the hotel manager, who is so direct and relaxed that he quickly becomes your best friend. The food is excellent, the complex itself is extremely nicely decorated, including the swimming pool. The villas are large and comfortable.

Honestly, the furniture (dressers, wardrobes, etc.) in the villas should be changed because it spoils the impression and has an unpleasant smell. Everything else is perfect.

To był naprawdę wspaniały czas dla naszej rodziny – świetny wybór! Hotel ma niezwykle ciepłą atmosferę dzięki wspaniałemu zespołowi. Wszyscy są życzliwi i pomocni, dzięki czemu od razu można poczuć się jak u siebie. Jedzenie jest pyszne, świeże i przygotowywane z dużą dbałością o szczegóły. To miejsce idealne, jeśli ktoś szuka ciszy, spokoju i prawdziwego odpoczynku. Hotel jest kameralny, bardzo zadbany i otoczony piękną zielenią. Pokoje są bardzo ładne i czyściutkie, a basen jest świetnym miejscem na relaks. Ogromnym atutem jest też pusta, dzika i piękna plaża – można naprawdę się wyciszyć, zregenerować i poczuć prawdziwą moc oceanu. Bezcenne. Zdecydowanie to jest miejsce, do którego chętnie się wraca.

The location was great, right on the beach and the beach area was well done. The Food, what we had of it, was exceptional and we are foodie’s, probably some of the best food we had while in SL.

The lights in the restaurant were fluorescent strips, like old strip malls in the 70s, no one wants to eat in harsh light - and they didn’t, it was all the time we were there in the evenings. The fluorescent lighting continued in the kitchen, which was not blocked from the outside area, so you could see in at night and it disturbed the ambiance of the pool and outside area. The staff were nice, but seemed very young and that no one had any authority or training. I showed a young man who was cleaning outside a mess the dog had made chewing up a milk carton, he looked and left it, I later cleaned it up myself as it was right outside our room. We had to request an additional duvet because the one in our room didn’t fit the bed. The staff asked us to sign-off some room service late one night, in the dark, we were cross, it seemed unnecessary to do admin late at night outside our room - during the cricket final! The next day they offered us a complimentary dinner; which was very nice, but we’d have preferred to just sign our bill earlier and to have breakfast included in the price, which it was in most of the hotels we stayed in during our trip.

Beautiful room with good amenities and beaches. Always very clean! Staff were very kind and helpful.

If you want lots of options for restaurants it is a little far out, but we liked the tranquility. Hotel restaurant is a little hit or miss depending on what you choose.

- Host, a Russian guy, was really helpful when it mattered: I had to visit the hospital after a dog bite. But helpful in general. - Really close to the sea - Generally, very good food - Quiet environment - Nice pool and pool-area

- Little bit off-side - Some fixing needed sometimes. The room was fresh and nice, but a few details didn't work, like bathroom door, closets stuck. - The sea in front of the hotel is open, meaning the waves makes it impossible to bath most of the time

We did not have breakfast as not included in the room price. We had drinks and dinner, good prawns (pre ordered). Fantastic swimming pool and location right on the beach. Staff friendly and helpful

Towels and linen very stale smell and initially not clean around the pool area, but this improved the next day and following. Although the Manager and staff were all very helpful, their presentation was too casual, some with soiled shirts which does not give a good impression. Especially when the cost is high, one expected much higher standards with quality towels and bed linen.

On a quiet beach with large beautiful pool.

The location was quite remote with no nearby restaurants to walk to besides the dirt track from the property was dark with no lighting. We were captive in the evenings to the hotel restaurant and the food was ok but not great.

South Coast Villas offered (among the 5 hotels, including 2 5* that we have visited) the place where we would again spend most time of our vacation, for several reasons: First, the location at the beach is wonderful. Second, the team is really exceptionally good in taking care of you. We felt welcome and always happy when interacting with the personnel. The team also helps you with inordinately requests, for example changing a bulb in the car. Third, food was really good. Fourth, the rooms are really beautiful and clear. Waking up in the villas in the morning and going to bed was very nice every day. WiFi across the place was also very good. Clearly the place where we would again spend most of our time.

This is one of the best places I have ever stayed. Here you can have an excellent option to relax and be in full harmony with the nature: quietness, sound of wavy ocean, parrots singing on the cocunt palm next to your spacious villa. The food serving in Mandala noticeably differs from any other place on Sri Lanka. It's very delicious with a professional approach meeting the best standards of taste. Thanks to Ivan, we spent an unforgettable holiday here. He did everything to make our leisure on top level, starting from watching a football match on the big screen till the three cutest puppies which our children played with. It was really fabulous!

Alles. De locatie is prachtig. Personeel uitermate vriendelijk. Fijne grote kamer. Lekker bed. Fantastisch zwembad! Mooi strand.

Er loopt een hobbelige zandweg naar het verblijf. Maar ik begreep dat ze deze ergens de komende 2-3 maanden gaan asfalteren.

Non mi sembra giusto far pagare delle tasse in più per i pagamenti elettronici, in 7 hotel visitati in questo viaggio questo è stato l’unico che ci ha chiesto delle commissioni e per la qualità della location è un po’ una caduta di stile

We had an amazing stay at this hotel! The rooms were exceptionally clean, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious — every meal felt like it was made with great care and quality. Whenever we had any questions or requests, the manager responded instantly and solved everything right away. The level of service was outstanding. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely come back again!

The whole experience was flawless! I would highly recommend this hotel. It’s really clean , you get really looked after and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We did some laundry there and it came back within 24h. They helped us book a whale watching tour and we loved the pool. I really liked how much nature was integrated into the hotel and you could see the monkeys and enjoy them in their natural habitat. The hotel has built around the trees so you get to experience nature and the daily life of the monkeys. Kasun on the roof restaurant was particularly nice and made us feel very welcome. All the staff are great and we would come back

It was all amazing

Big spacious clean room with great bathroom products. Super friendly and accomodating staff and delicious food. Lunch time salads with hot chips a must. Pool was excellent with the beach at your door. Would stay again for sure.

We stayed for two weeks. Our villa was superb with chic decorations and design, right out of AD magazine. Property well run. Staff young and professional. The great draw was the unspoiled beach, miles of golden sand with few people on it. We could hear the surf from our beds. Only a few small hotels along this stretch of coast although larger hotels are being built. There were good family-run restaurants within walking distance. Swimming was good as long as the surf wasn't too high. There was no current or undertow. Hotel also had a beautiful pool and was beautifully landscaped.

The restaurant could have been a bit better. Breakfast was good but the curry was bland, and the pasta needed a sauce to go with it.

Top accommodatie!!!

The hotel was quiet and perfect. The pool was clean and warm. The food was amazing!!! Everything was fresh and homemade (even the sauces and ice cream), which was the most important thing because I was pregnant. My husband had gone fishing and the hotel chef even prepared the fish he caught for us for dinner. Without planning anything and arriving at the hotel, there was live music and a multi-course dinner right on February 14th. The hotel manager even got flowers for all the women! The manager is very talkative and helpful, he also organized massages and an excursion for us. It was impossible to find a more perfect place to relax. Everything looked exactly like the pictures!

We didn't like the fact that we had to leave.

This place is amazing! The nature is something else, the beach is secluded and very mystic. The villas are with great interior and very big & comfy. The staff are the sweetest people and they will do everything to make your stay memorable.

The hotel was amazing, with a great atmosphere on a beautiful beach. The food was delicious—fresh fish, seafood, and avocado salad. The villa was big and very spacious, surrounded by palm trees, with a nice pool and a cozy, peaceful vibe. The staff was excellent. It was perfect!

First of all, a good taste demonstrated in decorating the rooms, giving the natural “eco” vibe. Secondly, it is an oasis of tranquility, where the neighborhood won’t disturb your peace (except the loud oceans waves!). Lots of space for privacy. Third, it’s the entertaining things like the infinity pool, the beds right on the amazing wide and long wild beach, the small inner restaurant right at your feet. Last, but not least, it’s the young, extremely warm stuff who served with kindness all the requests, like meals, ordering taxi, massage at the nearby Divine Spa (very good!). It felt like a genuine place and I already miss it!

Unfortunatelly, one annoying thing for me was a lack of a good internet connection. I work online, so this place wouldn’t serve those needs for a longer stay. I could barely catch the WiFi at one spot near the pool. Perhaps other rooms have a better luck!

The villa was clean, spacious, and the hotel nestled in a peaceful, secluded area - far from crowded surf spots like Weligama Beach. The beach felt untouched, with just a few couples Staff were helpful: free fruits on arrival, quick fixes for requests, and a dessert offered after a room delay. The restaurant did breakfast well: multigrain bread with scrambled eggs, avocado, and good coffee. Nearby places? Just oily fried rice - nothing special. Perfect if you want nature and quiet. Would return

This hotel was way better than the other places we stayed at. We booked it last-minute before our flight home, and honestly, it was the best decision. Super quiet, no stress, the food was awesome (shoutout to the chef!), the staff was super friendly, and the villa - huge and spotless--perfect for relaxing. The beach had waves sometimes, but we swam just fine. Apparently, like 99% of Sri Lanka's beaches have waves. But heads up: where the waves are smaller, surfers take over. You can't even swim without worrying about getting smacked by a surfboard. Kinda ruins the vibe if you're just trying to chill.

The food and cataring was excellent. Very warm welcome and friendly atmosphere, individual approach to each clients wishes/needs.A harmonious and peaceful place to relax. Thank you, will come back and will recommend to friends.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the warm and friendly team, including the owner, who made sure we felt at home throughout our stay. The location is breathtaking – a pristine, quiet beach with crystal-clear water, perfect for relaxation. The infinity pool is simply stunning, offering amazing views of the ocean and unforgettable sunsets. The entire property is beautifully designed with nature in the most perfect way. The food was another highlight. Breakfast was delicious with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the evening meals were outstanding—flavorful, beautifully presented, and made with great attention to detail. Mandala Villas is the perfect escape for anyone looking for tranquility, comfort, and top-notch hospitality. We will definitely be back!

The location is lovely but seemed a bit remote,it would take 30 min to get to the nearest town. The sea was very rough - there was nowhere to swim but that was slightly expected.

The restaurant really not good at all and expensive. There were other place along the beach that had great food and far more reasonable. The dining really was not up to any standard.

The hotel is just exceptional!! From the very first minutes with welcome drinks to the late nights with cinema in front of the ocean and water-pipe.. All villas are brand new and made with attention to your needs and comfort, all are dry and clean. The food is beyond the expectations, everything is fresh and flavourful, very rare for Sri Lanka.. And they can cook anything you like out of menu which great option for children. Infinite swimming pool with the ocean view, child friendly atmosphere, clean and endless beach! The staff is amazing and friendly, great level of service and prompt response to any notice, they will deliver all your requests.

A week was not enough 😁

Absolutely everything! The Staff were the best and service was 2nd to none. Everyone was genuinely friendly and helpful. The excellent menu deserves special attention! Ben was amazing. The place had everything and felt like a piece of paradise, but was also great vibes and chill too. We spent 1 night here and didn't want to leave . Cheers for an awesome stay - hope to see you again.
