Al khitaym guest house

Clean, large modern room with terrace. They let me bring my dogs (to stay on the veranda). It's family owned and run in a great location. It looked better there than it did on the website. It was also more affordable than other places in the village.

La struttura si trova in una posizione fantastica, e’ nuova, ben tenuta e curata. I gestori sono molto gentili e disponibili. È possibile cenare e fare colazione nella struttura, c’è una sala dedicata con i tavoli e anche un patio.

Ci siamo trovati molto bene quello che è solo un consiglio, anziché delle bustine singole di bagnoschiuma, mettere un dispenser con il sapone per le mani bagnoschiuma e Shampoo così da ridurre anche il consumo di plastica.

Un magnifique nid d'aigle : la chambre double et la chambre lits jumeaux mises a notre disposition surplombaient le Djebel Shams moment magique au coucher du soleil quand les couleurs embrase le relief. Le point de vue de notre terrasse est spectaculaire. Le départ de la Balcony Walk est a 2 mn a pied en contrebas, c'est extrêmement confortable de s'engager pour 3 heures de marche a 2800 mètres d'altitude en milieu d'après midi ( A/R) le long des cirques de ce vertigineux canyon au moment de la golden hour en sachant qu'un lit douillet et une douche avec une bonne pression vous attendent. Arpenter a l'ombre sous la brise offre un bien être incroyable, et la vision du Shams qui se pare d'or envoutante....

Wij hebben enorm genoten van ons verblijf bij Al Khitaym Guesthouse. Alleen de rit ernaartoe is al een ervaring op zich: de onverharde weg en de prachtige uitzichten onderweg maken het extra bijzonder. Het dorpje zelf stelt niet veel voor en er is weinig te doen (in iedergeval in laagseizoen), maar daar kom je hier ook niet voor. Het uitzicht vanuit de kamer is werkelijk fantastisch. We hadden een mooie slaapkamer en badkamer en een fijn terrasje voor de deur waar je volop van het uitzicht kunt genieten. Ook het eten en ontbijt waren prima verzorgd en de gastheren waren ontzettend vriendelijk en gastvrij. Daarnaast is dit een perfecte uitvalsbasis voor de Balcony Walk, aangezien deze praktisch voor de deur is. Wat ons betreft echt een aanrader en een plek waar we zeker nog eens terugkomen.

Het enige kleine minpuntje is dat ze nog bezig zijn met werkzaamheden, waardoor je hier en daar wat bouwmateriaal ziet liggen. Dit stoorde ons echter nauwelijks en deed niets af aan de ervaring.

The biggest advantage is the direct access to the Balcony Walk, which is perfect. The location is very quiet and peaceful, ideal for relaxing. We also really enjoyed the good dinner and breakfast. Highly recommended

Super Lage direkt beim Start des Balcony Walk. Ganz neue Zimmer mit Terrasse und Ausblick in den Canyon. Die Vermieter sind sehr nett und zaubern ein tolles Frühstück (inkl.) und Abendessen, das bei Ankunft hinzugebucht werden kann. Die Angabe in Google Maps stimmt exakt und man steht dann direkt davor, aber es gibt keine Beschilderung und wir waren nicht ganz sicher welches Haus es ist.

Very nice and tactful host. Minimal communication, trusting, unobtrusive. Small sleeping quarters, but great location. Large common areas (highly recommend dinner).

I would prefer slightly lower pillows.

Die Lage der Unterkunft ist perfekt. Vom Zimmer und Terrasse aus hat man einen unglaublichen Blick auf den Canyon. Die Zimmer sind neu und schön gestaltet. Schönes Bad und das Bett ist sehr bequem. Man kann eine kleine Küche neben den Zimmern nutzen, ansonsten wird von den Gastgebern auch Frühstück und Abendessen angeboten. Wir haben das Abendessen (Buffet) in Anspruch genommen-für uns als Vegetarier gab es reichlich zur Auswahl und das Essen war sehr lecker. Direkt bei der Unterkunft geht der Balcony Walk los- eine wunderschöne Wanderung. Wir hoffen, irgendwann wiederzukommen.

Der Boden war etwas staubig. In der Küche wäre etwas mehr Geschirr wie z.B. Schüsseln, Teller und Besteck super 😊

놀라운 경치와 깨끗한 숙소. 친정한 호스트. 너무 만족했어요. 안내에는 와이파이가 안된다고 나와있는데 와이파이 잘 설치되어 있습니다. 숙소에서 바라보는 자벨샴스는 너무 아름다웠어요. 일출은 정말. 식사도 만족했습니다. 트래킹 할수 있는 포인트에 위치해서 트래킹도 쉬웠습니다. 적극 추천해요. ^^

단점이 없어요.

Das war sehr bescheiden und zu teuer für die Leistung. Das Oersonal war freundlich die Lage war sehr gut.

Die Betten waren sehr kurz und etwas hart. Das Klo war so niedrig, vielleicht 30cm hoch. Das Zimmer war dehr klein, aber das ist normal.

Excellent accommodation at a perfect spot. Nice view into the canyon from the room. Because we didn't have a 4WD we could arrange a pick-up at Al Hamra at an extra cost. A good service offered by the host, who was very friendly.

Fantastische plek met mooie uitzichten. Zeker met zonsopkomst en zonsondergang. Het avondeten was ook heerlijk.

Der Ausblick war Top, die Zimmer liegen direkt am Canyon und sind auch zur Aussicht hin ausgerichtet. Der Wanderweg startet direkt von dort.

A room is bit small, but this is the detail. Whats more important it is impossible to pay by card, and the owner will not let you know about it in advance, so be prepared. No ATM in the village, an hour driving is the closest - and on very bad road! So take cash!!! Dinnwr was good, but breakfast very mediocre. This is the thing to upgrade, really.

Une vraie guesthouse avec une famille qui vous accueille dans un cadre magnifique avec une très belle vue. Chambres confortables avec vue. Chemin de randonnée à côté. Excellents repas.

I liked everything! but what stood out the most was the hospitality of the owners. I know most of the hostels in the area, and none of them are like this one.

Incredible place. Incredible hosts. You can't stay any closer to the balcony walk than this. The homecooked meals were excellent and a ton of food as well, you won't go hungry here. There's only two rooms and we were lucky enough to get the whole place to ourselves. It's peaceful and tranquil, especially around sunset. Everything is clean and well cared for. Had no issues finding the place (google maps) and no issues checking in or anything. AC worked very well. Shower pressure was good. No issues whatsoever. Fantastic place run by very delightful and kind people

It’s a lovely place just on the canyon jebel shams and right at the balcony walk. The room is clean with big windows . The terrace is amazing overlooking the canyon. The host Ali and his wife live just behind and are very kind. They make dinner and breakfast on request ans serve it either in the guest room in their home or on the terrace. We had so much fun chatting with Ali’s family in the evening. Lovely local people . Thanks

Wow. What a place. If you are going to Jebel Shams and doing the Balcony walk, this is the place to stay. Fantastic views overlooking the stunning scenery. There are only 2 rooms so book ahead. Nicely designed units with large bathrooms and a great hot shower. There is a separate small kitchen shared by the 2 rooms with coffee/ tea facilities, a small fridge and a 2 ring cooker, which is a nice touch if you want to cook your own food. We had dinner and breakfast there. Simple delicious food.

Location was beautiful and very idillic

Wonderful!! Very nice host welcomed us with dates and coffee/tea. The place itself is great, with a spectacular view, very comfortable room, clean, nice bathroom, terrace. In the evening can see the stars from your bed. In the morning a nice sunrise. Also had breakfast and dinner which the family prepared for our, delicious local food. One thing if you go, a 4x4 car might help, we did not make it all the way in our small car, but you can ask to be picked up.

Ali, Alia and their kids were very nice hosts. We ordered dinner and breakfast, which were served in their house behind the appartment in Omani style and were delicious. The guest house is stylish, comfortable with breathtaking view over the canyon. We did the balcony walk right after our afternoon arrival when most hikers were already returning. There was already shadow on the trail, which was great for the walking comfort but a little complication for photography.

Nothing. Just be aware it is better to use a 4x4 SUV (dirt mountain road), although we saw there normal cars as well.

When you arrive at the guesthouse late afternoon there is great opportunity to see a beautiful sunset After sunset the family cooks local dinner for you. This great hospitality absolutely adds to the full experience. If you gaze at the stars at night in total silence it feels like you found paradise on earth. If you set your alarm early enough you can watch sunrise out of your bed or from the private terras of this guesthouse The location is directly located next to the starting point of the balcony walk hike. Absolutely best location if you want to do this hike. Depending on the time you leave for your hike, you can drink coffee with the family before or after. Use the stay at this guesthouse to be absorbed in the friendly Omani culture and enjoy the hike day thereafter! Do not expect a lot from the village itself. You really plan your stay here to be absorbed in friendly culture and astonishing nature

The fridge did not smell nicely For us it took a little time to get the water temperature down of the shower. The family can support you with this

- The view is magnificent, fully pays off the price - facilities are decent, there is a kitchen with all the appliances and even barbeque - proximity to balcony trail, so possible to do the hike early morning when there are only a few people in track - friendly owner - mesmerizing starry sky in the nigh - possible to reach even with sedan, our Lexus coped pretty well, although with SUV the experience would be more ambient

Beds were rather stiff, we did not know about the barbeque facilities from the description so we were unprepared.

Very close to the balcony trail, the owner is kind and can prepare some food (dinner, lunch, breakfast...)

Rooms were clean and the bed was firm. Meals available on request for 5 Riel. Hosts are very friendly and accomodating - we arrived a bit early and they had our room ready. The food was delicious. Parking available in a small courtyard. We did not see signage for the Guest House, but we asked a local and they easily pointed us in the right direction. We arrived at 2pm and had time to complete the Balcony Trail (which was mostly in the shade) before supper. Recommend to hike the Trail in the afternoon and then enjoy the sunset and sunrise on the private patio. Note: photos attached were all taken from the patio - amazing views!!!

There is a slight sulphur smell to the water, but we only used the water to shower with. We were provided with plenty of bottled water to drink.

Very interesting place at the end of the bumpy road just at the beginning of the balcony walk. 2 simple rooms with the stunning view! It’s really amazing for the sunrise and sunset. You can order a breakfast and dinner in the owner’s house.

The beds weren’t the softest but apart from that it was perfect.

Wow!!!!! What a bargain!!! Right at the mouth of the beginning of the stunning balcony hike. A few steps away from being able to witness the magical sunset. And, the sunrise reflects perfectly into the gorgeous bay windows facing the canyon, which made for a magical sunrise on a warm winter day. Our kids loooooved being able to visit the family’s goats in the morning. We arranged dinner with the family hosting the apartment, and it’s truly a wonderful Omani family affair. The sister cooks delicious meals, even the little girls came to say hello and our girls really enjoyed meeting them! The father of the sons running the apartments came to have dinner with us, and the son that hosted us even taught our daughters how to make their beautiful hand made bracelets. The patio faces the stunning canyon, and having Karak tea with that view and enjoy the evening breeze was perfect. It was not just a night stay, but a wonderful, warm, and welcoming experience! I would absolutely come back any time again!

It’s relatively new property near to the balcony walk of Jebel Shams and my overall experience was delightful. The highlight of the stay was undoubtedly the breathtaking sunrise that painted the sky with hues of orange and pink during the chilled morning, visible from the deck of the cliff which is part of the property. The owner Ali, deserves special mention for his warm hospitality and friendliness. This property is well maintained and offers a tranquil retreat away from hustle and bustle of city life. The location adds to the charm, providing a unique opportunity to connect with nature and enjoy the serene surroundings. The rooms are clean and the design of the house complements the natural beauty of the landscape. Another plus it has a kitchen.

However I must mention one drawback slightly affected my overall comfort. The mattress and pillows on these rooms were on the harder side, which may not suit everyone’s preferences. This was a minor inconvenience and did not overshadow the positive aspects of the stay.
