Under Oaks Guesthouse

We had a very pleasant and relaxing stay at Under Oaks B&B. The property is wonderfully quiet and peaceful, making it the perfect place to unwind and get some proper rest. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the surrounding views are absolutely magnificent. We really enjoyed the calm atmosphere and rested extremely well during our stay.

The only area that could be improved is the breakfast. A little more variety and a wider selection would make the overall experience even more exquisite and complement the quality of the accommodation beautifully. We also felt that breakfast finishes a little too early at 09:00. Extending it to around 10:30 would be much more convenient, particularly for guests who are staying specifically to relax and enjoy a slower morning.

We truly enjoyed our stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely. We will definitely recommend it to friends and family.

There was really only one thing that we missed. A shower mat for the shower. The tiles are very slippery and quite dangerous for older people like ourselves.

The WiFi was not working most of the time. The water pressure in the shower wasn't great.

This property was in a perfect location for the wedding we were attending. Every room overlooked the dam which made the mornings special for all three rooms we had there.

The view on the dam, friendly staff (always eager to assist), cleanliness, comfortable and well decorated room, very secure. Can go for walks on the farm. Very neat accommodation.

Although it is a working farm, the activities right in front of the rooms were very noisy with digger loaders and tipper going on from even before 8am until after 4:30pm - even on the Public Holiday and the Saturday. They could have warned their guests about these abnormal activities, right in front of the rooms. The neighbouring guests can be very loud and disturbing. Mattrass in Cabernet not very comfortable.

If you don't have a car, you need to rely on Ubers to move around. The pizza restaurant within the vineyard isn't good.

Eine super schöne und kleine Unterkunft mit toller Terrasse. Die Zimmer waren sehr sauber und groß. Das Personal war super freundlich und immer hilfsbereit.

Durch den See vor der Terrasse, hatten wir einige Moskitos in unserem Zimmer, was nachts weniger schön war. In der Dusche ist der Wasserdruck sehr gering gewesen, weshalb es für Frauen mit längeren oder dickerem Haar lange dauert, um Haare zu waschen. Das Frühstück war in unseren Augen auch sehr sehr beschränkt. (Toast, abgepackter Joghurt, muffins), keinerlei Aufstrich oder ähnliches..

De locatie en de vriendelijkheid van het personeel. De kamers waren ook erg schoon.

Wij zaten in de Chardonnay. Mooie ruime kamer , maar het ophangpunt van de airco is pal boven ons hoofd en de afstelling was recht naar beneden , dus zeer koude wind op je gezicht. Moet anders ingesteld worden , zodat de luchtstroom recht naar voren gaat . Verder zaten wij op de hoek, dus het terras was aan drie kanten open. De wind kwam voornamelijk van links, was s'avonds vaak te fris om lekker op het terras te zitten. Een windscherm of iets dergelijks had fijn geweest. Verder was de afstap vanaf het terras naar het gras te hoog. Een afstapje zou zeer handig zijn. De andere kamers in het midden hadden wel een afstap. Het ontbijt was zeer basic. Eieren lekker, maar verder weinig overig beleg. Prijs vrij hoog tegenover wat je er voor krijgt.

We had a wonderful stay at Under Oaks Guesthouse and would happily come back anytime. The setting among the vineyards is beautiful and incredibly peaceful – the perfect place to unwind. The wine tasting is fantastic, and since this was already our second visit, it was very special to share this place with our family. Our room was comfortable and tastefully decorated, breakfast was delicious, and the whole atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. A perfect spot to relax and explore the Winelands – highly recommended! ✨

Magnificent setting with upmarket rooms

The whole property is beautiful. The lodges are located on a farm surrounded by a lake, vines and grazing cows and horses with beautiful views to the mountains beyond. The relaxed pizzaria on site is pleasant. The rooms are of a good size and nicely furnished.

What should be a delightful spot just lacks a bit care and attention to detail. By South African generous standards the breakfasts are a bit meagre. The rooms were not of the highest cleanliness. The water jug had no filter. The chairs on the stoep had backs that were broken. A table and chair with no lamp to work by. Bin by the pool overflowing. Maintenance workers carried out work in our room on the hot water system - no complaint about that - but we were not informed about this in advance. All relatively small issues that showed a lack of attention to detail (and perhaps a too busy manager - we were staying during the grape harvest - a hectic period in the winelands). Our room (Pinotage) had a slight stale smell on arrival. It dissipated with the windows open but you could smell a faint whiff of sewage when sitting on the stoep. On our 3rd night, on returning after dinner, however the whole room stank badly of the drains. The staff refused to move us for our last night claiming the place was fully booked - it was not. There was no manager on site Sunday/Monday when we needed assistance and our requests to the other staff met with indifference. All in all this is a place with considerable potential. Great location and setting. It just needs a little bit more care to make it really exceptional. We were on a recce and had planned to come back next year with a group - sadly we shall not.

The location and views from the lodges are truly spectacular. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the on-site Pizzeria offers great food at very reasonable prices. Wish we'd stayed a couple more nights!

My only request would be some lighting between recepton and the lodges once night falls.

Auf einem schönen Weingut gelegen bietet das guesthouse die Ruhe und Entspannung, die man sich wünscht… Tolle Zimmer, gemütlich und geräumig. Schönes Frühstück und eine tolle Pizzeria auf dem Gelände. Kommen sicher wieder…

Schönes Guesthouse auf dem Gelände des Weinguts. Die Zimmer erreicht man mit dem Auto. Parkplatz direkt vorm Gebäude. Auf dem Weingut gibt es eine sehr zu empfehlende Pizzeria.

The mattress and pillows definitely need to be replaced, especially in a higher-end guesthouse like this and given the cost of the stay. The above comment is one of the most important factors for us (and probably for most guests) when choosing a guesthouse, and unfortunately, it fell short of the standard. The surroundings, etc., were great.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay.

We liked the close proximity to good restaurants and the Spice Route. The complementary wine tasting is a nice touch. The breakfast was good, served by very friendly cook.

The standard room was small with no view to the dam, and the bed and pillows were uncomfortable.

De locatie is perfect, midden in de wijngaard op een leuk estate. Prima ontbijt, heerlijke wijn proeverij en vriendelijk personeel.

Wij hadden de “standaard” kamer geboekt, in de basis prima maar als je het kan missen en er is beschikbaarheid boek dan de “luxury” kamer. Deze kamer beschikt over een heerlijk buitenzitje en is veel ruimer. Wat ons betreft is dat het geld meer dan waard.

The rooms very spacious and clean with beautiful views. Staying on a wine farm is always a plus. The restaurant was fantastic and we enjoyed the wine tasting and charcuterie platter very much. We found the stay super relaxing.

The wifi was a bit slow, but one tries to get away from technology when staying at such a beautiful place. There wasn't always swimming towels and not enough loungers or umbrellas at the pool.

Exquisite farm with an arrival through the avenue of Oak Trees to remember forever. I absolutely loved everything about my stay. Gorgeous room. So peaceful and luxurious. Delicious breakfast every morning in their historical homestead and ate outside literally under the oak trees overlooking the paddocks and beyond every night. Amazing pizza’s and salads and friends had the pasta. Great service and kind team took care of me from the time arrived until my early departure. A gem to have found Under Oaks and look forward to being back.

Lighting in bathroom very poor. Noisy adjacent neighbours can ruin the peace of sitting on your terrace. Food in pizzeria not at previous levels.

This stay was a small birthday treat to myself. Enjoyed everything in general. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. I even got treated to a breakfast tray in my room on my birthday and the complimentary wine tasting was a nice surprise.

I was a little bit disappointed with the room that I stayed in (on the side of building) compared to the room that I booked (front with porch, water facing as per the pictures)

De locatie

De totaal smerige en doornatte matrasjes op de ligstoelen bij het zwembad. Het zwembad zelf heeft weken geen onderhoud gehad. Na 4 keer geklaagd te hebben bij de receptioniste kregen we na anderhalf uur droge matrasjes. Beneden alle peil! We werden naar ons idee niet voor vol aangezien. Helaas een dagdeel ergernis.

Der Ausblick von dem Guesthouse auf den See ist wunderschön . Wir fanden es sehr angenehm dass das Weingut sehr gute Preise für die Weine angeboten hat und auch ein Weintasting inklusive beim Aufenthalt gewesen wäre .

Wir haben einen Luxury Room gebucht, das Zimmer sah auf den ersten Blick sehr schön aus . Beim genaueren Hinschauen entpuppte er sich jedoch als Farce . Das Badezimmer, die Dusche und die Decke waren voller Schimmel. Der Klodeckel hat durchaus bessere Zeiten hinter sich .Das Bett durchgelegen. Es gab keine Lademöglichkeitek z.B. für das Handy ohne unter den Tisch zu kriechen. Steckdose im Bad - Fehlanzeige. Als wir die Mängel am nächsten Tag ,nachdem sie uns aufgefallen waren, ansprachen war die Reaktion enttäuschend . Wir wurden gefragt ob wir auschecken wollen, es wurde keine Alternative angeboten. Erst nach Beschwerde bei der Duty Managerin Colette wurde uns das Schwesternhotel The Grand Roche angeboten . Wir stimmten zu - Hilfe beim Umzug wurde in keiner Form angeboten . Wir schleppten die Koffer bei 30 Grad bis zum Uber . Die Reaktion beim Verlassen der Unterkunft war mehr als enttäuschend- keine Entschuldigung . So etwas und die mangelnde Gastfreundschaft/Problemlösung haben wir hier in den drei Wochen noch nie erlebt . Wir wurden zwar umgebucht auf das Schwesterhotel, hatten hier jedoch auch Herausforderungen ( Frühstück nicht inklusive, obwohl bei Buchung inklusive ). Das Personal im The Grand Roche war sehr zuvorkommend und bemüht .

Rooms are clean and beautiful. Breakfast was great and we enjoyed the restaurant in the evenings. Pizza was delicious.

The view over the vineyards and the dam is the highlight for me — absolutely beautiful and serene. It’s quiet, peaceful, and very romantic. The room itself was stunning and luxurious, with every detail thoughtfully designed. The main house, where breakfast is served, provides the perfect setting for a romantic getaway.

This was our return visit, so we already knew what to expect — our previous trip had set the bar quite high. Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed with the breakfast this time around. Each morning offered essentially the same selection, with little variety. Our first day’s breakfast was lovely — beautifully presented and much like what we enjoyed on our previous stay. However, the following days felt plain and uninspired. The portions were also quite minimal: two eggs, two small pieces of bacon, and a cherry tomato cut in half. While croissants and muffins were available, there wasn’t much to accompany them. Overall, it just felt as though less effort went into the breakfasts compared to our last visit. A bit more variety and creativity in the daily offerings would make a big difference.

Under Oaks Guesthouse was ideally located for our visit. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

The Standard Room is behind the house which faces no view and gets no light or sun. I wish I’d known that before I booked as I would’ve paid to upgrade. In comparison to the rest of the rooms I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone on holiday.

Woow exceptional service, I was given opportunity to upgrade my room and pay in the morning as we wanted the view to the lake/pool. We had wonderful service from the lady in the kitchen excellent breakfast and she allowed us to buy wine and wine opener even though the cellar was close. Best value for money and the food woow🔥

We did find that the restaurant is closed for renovations and it was not communicated with us when we booked the room. One of the filters used making the booking was a restaurant on site. Theresa did refer us to a good restaurant. Directions signs on the property is not clear and very confusing. There was a problem with water pressure because they were without electricity due to cable theft.
