You would never find a host like him. He was really friendly and helpful throughout my stay and made everything so easy. The place was comfortable, clean and had a really good vibe. Also, the dorms are probably one of the best you can get for this price. Totally worth the money. If you’re looking for a good place to stay with a nice host and good people around, I’d definitely recommend this place.

The Space: The house is incredibly beautiful, impeccably clean, and filled with character. The standout feature is definitely the stunning collection of paintings throughout the space, which gives it a unique, artistic, and cozy gallery-like vibe. The Hospitality: The host was exceptionally warm, welcoming, and friendly. They went above and beyond to make us feel right at home and provided excellent recommendations for local spots. The Location: On top of everything else, it’s perfectly situated. All the key attractions and places to explore are nearby and easily accessible, making it the ideal base for sightseeing. If you are looking for a great experience, comfort, and beautiful surroundings, this place is a must-stay. We will definitely be back!

I really thought the owner was nice to begin with and he really made sure I was safe and everything. But turns out he was actually just trying to sleep with me. When I raised concerns about his age (he's 37, I'm 21) he said "it's not about the age it's about the feeling", and then he told me he has slept with a 19yr old. I rejected him and he respected it (I thought), and I was stupid enough to think we were actually friends still, but he wasn't interested in anything other than that one thing. He kept making weird comments and bought me alchohol, just to be staring at me like a hungry dog. I feel stupid because in the moment I didn't realize how weird all this actually was. He made it seem completely normal. Afterwards when I confronted him he did kind of apologize but he wasn't really interested in having a proper conversation. He basically said that he "controlled himself" and "didn't touch me without permission", so then I should be grateful or something. Also for some reason he hates indians, because he thinks every indian woman wants to marry him. And he thinks every western woman wants to sleep with him. He despises the first and thirsts for the second.

내가 묵은 6인실은 사실 4인실 정도여야하는 크기가 아닐까? 여섯명이 화장실 하나 사용하려니 자주 기다려야만 했던것도 문제. 바깥에 공용화장실이 있다고는 하지만 거리도 멀고 그리 깨끗하지도 않아 사용하기 어려움. 루프탑 공간은 확실히 정리가 필요함

I keep coming back to this place, my third time here! It’s a perfect location, just by the beach with a cosy rooftop as a common area. Clean rooms and dorms. But the star of the place is the owner, Niaz, who is just the kindest and most helpful soul! He knows all the best spots in the area and make sure you’re okay.

Fabulous staff, air con, location and laundry service.

Perhaps a little tight for space in the female dorm.. be careful with the bioluminescence tour. The kayaking may have been better (people rave about it). The boat was a lot of tuk tuk riding to two locations. Not much communication and then 5 mins in a boat at about 1am. Surreal but not much bioluminescence! I only say this as it was booked through the hostel.

The space and the staff are welcoming and friendly. They were very helpful in finding my way around. The space is comfortable and clean. Felt very safe to live in while travelling alone. A good pick if anyone is visiting for the Biennale!

The dorms have good beds and AC. The owners are very friendly and helpful!

Le gérant est super sympa ! L'emplacement est vraiment top et les chambres propres ! Il y a même une cuisine ! Les gens étaient à chaque fois hyper sympa. J'ai pu laisser mon sac a dos 2 semaines et vadrouiller, je recommande :)

L'emplacement est super, le personnel est au top. C'est une auberge très accueillante où on se sent chez soit.

I liked the little space outside the hostel which was like a fairy tale entrance + the lights outside and the location was close to the the Kochi Biennale.

I had an amazing stay at The Chill House. Niaz is a wonderful host and made me feel at home from the first minute. He has great recommendations about Kochi and the Backwaters and took me several times for a ride around town and tea. Also, I could leave my backpack with him for some days while exploring nearby places. I will definitely be back next time I am in Kochi. Don't hesitate booking Niaz pla ce!

Brilliant hostel. Hostel owner is also the manager who lives on site with his family. Very friendly cheerful atmosphere created by his hospitality and effort to make sure guests interact with each other. Owner also more than willing to help organise activities and transport at an honest price. Would certainly come again :)

Good location, right next to ferry station, multiple restaurants and cafés around. There's a nice rooftop to hang out. The private room was comfortable, with AC, and hot bucket shower (although hot water was not turned on the first night so we couldn't use it). The manager was very kind, helped us with laundry and bus timings, and recommended some places around.

😊 I spent 10 days at The Chill House, and it truly felt like a hidden gem in Fort Kochi. The moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth and kindness that made me feel instantly at ease. The space was always clean, calm, and full of positive vibes — perfect for relaxing or meeting like-minded travelers. Every corner felt thoughtfully cared for. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to unwind. I’d return without a second thought.

It was my first time stay @Chill House and as the name it is truly a Chill house with such a wonderful host Niaz bhai, so helpful and sociable person. Since I enjoyed my stay, I extended for one more day. I was also invited to Pandhal Cafe for a Saturday jamming with spectacular display of drummers etc..I strongly recommend this place. I will return back again.Thank you Niaz bhai🙏

Honestly, staying at The Chill House felt more like visiting a relative than staying in a dorm. From the moment I walked in, I was treated like family; so warm, welcoming, and genuine. As a solo traveler, that kind of connection meant everything. The whole vibe was super relaxed and friendly, and I felt right at home straight away. The place was very clean and spotless, comfortable, and had everything I needed. You can tell they really care about the little details. For a short stay in Fort Kochi, this was perfect, great people, great energy, and absolutely worth the price. I’d come back in a heartbeat and would recommend it to anyone, especially solo travelers looking for a homey spot to recharge.

The owner is so kind! He lent me a raincoat and even though it was past check-out time, he let me sleep in the bed.

The hostel is spotless and thoughtfully designed, with both dormitories and private rooms available. This gives you the best of both worlds — a sociable hostel atmosphere if you're looking to meet fellow travelers, and the privacy and comfort of your own room if you're a more mature traveler or prefer a quieter stay. The beds were super comfy, the AC worked well, and each room had its own bathroom, which was a big plus. The rooftop area was a personal favorite — perfect for relaxing, doing yoga, or meeting other guests. Wi-Fi was strong and reliable, and the shared kitchen was great for cooking your own meals. Pro tip: If you're arriving by metro, get off at Elamkulam Station — it's the closest stop and only about a ₹50 auto ride to the ferry jetty that takes you straight to Fort Kochi. Whether you're traveling solo, with friends, or as a couple, The Chill House is a fantastic base to explore the best of Fort Kochi. I can’t recommend it enough and will definitely be back!

I made the mistake of getting off at Aluva train station and its quite far away so dont make that mistake

I was here for a week, and this place has gifted me some lovely memories. Niaz is a wonderful host, and the location is quite serene, with several cosy cafes nearby. Just a couple of things though: during peak season, the room can be quite congested. Could also put on curtains for privacy.

Lovely atmosphere - I can see where the hostel got its name! Ha! Location is about 15minutes walk from Dutch fishing net/promenade area and the same from Jew Town. Property is kept really clean and there is a washing machine, kitchen and communal fridge if you want to cook etc. Niaz can help with your bookings and recommendations for things to see/do and onward travel Communal area downstairs and a huge roof terrace

Dorms are fairly small so there isn't too much space for everyone's luggage but not a major issue

My stay at the chill house is definitely a memorable one as this is my first time in Kochi as a solo female traveller. Niaz is very friendly and suggests you about various places to see around in fort kochi.The hostel gives a homely vibe and the location is really great,as you can explore all the nearby cafes and the fort kochi beach easily. Kochi is definitely a great start for the solo travellers who are looking to explore kerala and I would definitely recommend staying here. It was a great experience indeed 🌊❣️.

Niaz who runs/owns the hostel has a lovely energy - passionate about Kochi and Kerala. Has great suggestions and has created a lovely place to stay and meet other travellers. If you're considering a hostel in Fort Kochi - pick the Chill House - it lives up to the name. Single room had large comfy bed and quiet air con. The location was walking distance from everything there is top see in Fort Kochi + Jew Town, and ferries to Ernakulam were also within walking distance. Usually at least one rickshaw nearby for when you don't want to walk.

Niaz is an excellent host and kind-hearted chill person. I stayed in a private room which was clean and comfortable. Although relatively simple, it really had everything I needed. There is a large rooftop area to hang out and chill too. It’s extremely good value for money and the location is in easy walking distance to all of the fort kochi sights Niaz was very responsive if I required anything and was happy to accomodate an after midnight check in for me. He’s also a musical man, so if that’s your vibe, then be sure to come check it out. I’m very grateful for my stay at The Chill House. Thanks Niaz

The house is really nice and in a great location. The beds were comfy and it was really convenient to have a bathroom in each room and not a general shared bathroom. Niaz was incredibly kind to show me around and it was always ready to help! I would totally recommend the Chill House for solo travellers!

Hey, I wanted to leave a review of my stay from the perspective of female solo traveler here. The accommodation was very comfortable and the people at the hostel are friendly and do even check up on you! As a person who feeds off from other people’s energy, I was absolutely taken with the way Niaz (the owner) welcomed the guests and was there to respond to any of your questions. The location of the hostel is very close to a lot of other places, cafes and restaurants including a 50 meter access to the Ferry boat to Ernakullam town. I wish I had stayed for a few more days and this will definitely be my choice of stay in Fort Kochi going forward.
