The hotel gives you 1 liter of water per occupant. That's it. You cannot get more water bottled or otherwise without paying. It's 550 LKR per 1 liter after that! I haven't experienced this in any other hotel, be it 5 star or 2 star, in SL before. I didn't mind paying the restaurant bill at all, we ate all the meals there and everything on the menu was on the pricey-side (~2500 for basic rice n curry). I didn't mind paying ~40k for a triple room with many deficiencies. But I found it offensive that drinking water was only available at a ludicrous price, given this is Sri Lanka and not some forsake where water is at a premium!. Longer version: The staff is excellent. The food at the restaurant is pricey. Went during the off-season, so there was low occupancy. The rooms had the feeling that they were not cleaned out recently. There bedding felt mildewy and smelled. They changed upon request (as it triggered an asthma attack), but the changed ones were the same. All this was fine and I was willing to overlook given that this is Kataragama and I'm not expecting luxury, but then came the water debacle.

After you pass the reception, there's a pond that emanated such a stench that you had to hold your breath to get past it. Bedding smelled midewy. Restaurant prices were what you'd pay in a fancier place in Colombo.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Room great size and very comfortable. Spa and pool created a lovely relaxing experience. Close to yala block 5.

The restaurant was poor - food took ages , was incredibly spicy (inedible to me) and many of the staff did not speak sufficient English to understand what we wanted and sometimes guessed and got it wrong rather than get someone who understood. One of us felt ill the following day having eaten in restaurant and we spoke to another guest who had the same issue. Breakfast was very poor. Did not cater for different nationalities well at all or provide enough choice. Very little around to get food elsewhere so it was a real issue.

This is very much above average property for Sri Lanka. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The pool was absolutely fantastic large and deep. The staff in the hotel were very helpful , polite and friendly. The bar manager was very helpful and made us feel relaxed . Our only regret was that we only stayed one night before moving on

Het was erg rustig en het personeel was vriendelijk. Ze deden hun best aan het zwembad om een leuk praatje te maken en fijne handdoeken. Het is wel een beetje ouderwets en heel weinig gasten.

Bij de boeking heb ik via booking meerdere vragen gesteld over de safari en of we dit konden boeken. Echter konden we dit pas bij aankomst regelen. Wij hebben dat gedaan 5:30 afgesproken om opgehaald te worden, maar er was geen jeep. Na heel nadrukkelijk aandringen, doorvragen etc hebben we uiteindelijk nog een jeep gekregen om 6:10.

There were many things like a broken TV, electrical switches that were loose & not safe, no wifi in room, very dark as lighting sparse, room safe not working. Management lack of concern for defects. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND STAYING HERE.

The people were very friendly and accommodating during our stay, the pool was excellent!

The quality of the rooms. I had stayed here over 2 years ago and it was really good but there has been a serious degradation of quality. I had booked 4 rooms for my family and all of them complained about a horrible smell coming from the toilet. The bedsheet in my room had holes in it, similar to that of cigarette holes. The rooms could be cleaner. It seems like there has been very little to no maintenance done in the rooms since the 2 years I visited. It was not worth the value for money.

I loved the environment, the first impression was fantastic. The room was very spacious, quiet and very comfy. Spent a lovely night. It's located just 2km away from Kataragama Temple and was very convenient.

Everything was above and beyond so had nothing to say that I didn't like it.

We booked this property as it was close to Block 4-5 of Yala NP. Our kids enjoyed the large pool. The rooms were large and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The roadside cafe at the front of the hotel took an hour to serve our lunch. Eating outside of the hotel required a tuk-tuk, as it was 15 mins to walk into town.

The property needs up lift and some painting of the rooms. The shower water was getting flooded.

Bathroom was dirty with a build up of scum around the bath and public hair. Many of the employees didn't have basic English. Bar was poor with limited offering and someone had to ask for it to be opened one evening as noone around. Poor information on facilities, lunch is advertised in lobby but not actually available. Overall a very run down hotel that wouldn't take much investment and effort to bring it back to life

I found the price a bit high with regards to the level of quality, this is definitely not a 5 star hotel. Will deserve 3 stars

Breakfast was mainly local dishes. The omelet and hopper station was set up outside the restaurant, and we were only informed about it when we were already halfway through our meal.

When we arrived, there was nobody to greet us. Not even security was present, so we were confused about where to park and which entrance to use. We later learned there were two entrances, one to the lobby and another to the restaurant. Around ten minutes after we arrived, a junior staff member walked by and I had to ask him where the entrance was. When we entered the lobby, the staff member there ignored us and stayed on his phone. After about two minutes he briefly asked what we wanted, without greeting us. We arrived around 3 pm, but the room was not ready. He told us to wait five minutes because the rooms were “almost ready”. Twenty minutes later they were still not ready. Only then did he bring me two keys, saying one room was ready and the other would be ready in another five minutes. Inside the room, one of the bulbs didn’t work so the room was too dark. For our double room, they had arranged two twin beds instead of one double bed, even though we did not request that. The triple room also had two twin beds plus a single bed. The AC didn’t work, the Wi-Fi had no data, and the corridor outside the room was not clean.Even in the gym, the treadmill was not working. Overall, the booking was not worth the price.

Staff behavior very disappointing. Only two water provided for the more they charge x3 times higher the standard price ! Pool and facilities around it not clean , monkey drink water from pool and they don’t care about skin disease! Pool boards and mattress not clean ! They provide only one towels for the pool not more!

Even though the building is a little old, everything was clean and the pool was a very nice addition to our stay. The pool attendant man was very friendly and the bar keeper also made very tasty cocktails.

The food at the restaurant was simply bad. We had to eat one lunch and one dinner at the place and both times were a big disappointment.

The service was very poor. From the check in process to the pool area, waiting ages for bags (which we collected ourselves after waiting 20 mins or more and calling twice) and restaurant staff. Staff were unhelpful and not welcoming. I would avoid the restaurant - much better food and value in town. No loo roll in the bathroom and poor wifi

La camera d’albergo era estremamente datata e tutto odorava di vecchio. Le lenzuola avevano dei buchi e puzzavano di umido. Il condizionatore era così rumoroso che abbiamo dovuto spegnerlo per poter dormire. Nel cuore della notte, una lampadina ha iniziato a lampeggiare senza motivo. La parte peggiore era il bagno — pieno di muffa e insetti, con macchie di sporco sul pavimento. Il tappeto era già sporco al nostro arrivo. Esattamente come mostrato nelle foto. Questa camera non vale più di 20 dollari.

The reception was very unpleasant.

Staff were unhelpful and there was persistent miscommunication between them. The restaurant manager was rude and quite challenging. I would recommend not ordering alcohol, as the drinks were not up to standard. The bathroom facilities were unhygienic whereupon the shower flooded when it was used and the temperature on the shower would suddenly change to scalding hot.

Es un buen hotel en comparación al resto que he visto en Sri Lanka, las habitaciones son grandes y la piscina esta muy bien. El gimnasio es bastante completo para un entrenamiento. No teníamos safari reservado y nada más llegar al hotel pedimos ayuda en recepción y ellos mismos nos gestionaron un safari al día siguiente de manera muy fácil, te recogen en el mismo hotel y te dejan de nuevo. El buffet de desayuno es muy completo, merece la pena

Groot, fijn zwembad en goed ontbijt. Vriendelijk personeel. Het hotel heeft potentie. Kataragama is een leuk stadje en de avond puja in de tempel is leuk om mee te maken.

Het hotel kan een opknapbeurt genruiken. Het oogt groot en lomp, zeker als er maar weinig gasten verblijven. Maar personeel doet haar best het naar je zin te maken.

Sehr schönes Hotel mit riesigem Pool. Im Hotelgarten haben mehr Affen gesehen als auf der Safari und könnten sie aus nächster Nähe beobachten. Das Restaurant und insbesondere die Mocktails haben uns sehr gefallen.

Da wir beinahe die einzigen Gäste waren, war das Angebot etwas reduziert, das war aber nicht weiter schlimm. Sie haben den Laden dann jeweils speziell für uns geöffnet. Die Massage und den Wäscheservice können wir leider nicht empfehlen. Die Wäsche roch nachher noch schlechter als zuvor….
