2 bedside tables and 2 dining chairs would have been good. Lockbox entry was tricky as the number 9 was stuck. After some encouragement it finally worked.

Reviewed Aug 5, 2026Car parking between pods meant quiet and separate from neighbors. Instant spacious awareness of a modern, clean, carfully set out, comfortable and well equiped living area. Looked good, smelled good perfect after a days driving. Tv tuned for easy listening n very good signal strength. Comfortable bed, plenty of warmth. Microwave, jug n fridge/freezer is all I needed for my 1 night stay.

Property is located beside a deserted hotel and behind an industry building. There were 3 cabins and during my stay I was the only one there… i don’t feel safe as there were no one there…

La localisation dans une zone d'activité abandonnée et en décrépitude avant d'arriver à l'hébergement. Cet hébergement n'est heureusement pas l'ex ferry hotel délabré mais derrière actuellement composé de 3 bungalows neufs non visibles de la rue.

Reviewed Sep 10, 2025Lovely and clean, beautiful location overlooking the river, exceptional experience sitting on the deck watching the sun set. The studio was well stocked with milk, tea, coffee etc, lots of towels , the bed was comfy and the warmth from the heat pump was appreciated . Close to the township so handy to supermarket, and eateries. Very little noise. Great communication with the owner on arrival.
The hot water while showering wasn't sufficient.

Reviewed Aug 23, 2025Note: Google maps might put these cabins across from the pub, but the entrance is next to the pub, and the cabins are up behind the car wrecking yard on the right. Once it warmed up it was quite comfortable. Good fish and chip shop across the road. In nice weather the back deck would be a nice place to sit and watch the river.
These are fairly utilitarian porta-cabins behind a car wreckers yard, in a pretty deserted party of Wairoa. It was freezing cold when I arrived, and it took a while to warm up. Couldn't figure out the lights! Hint to hosts: in winter, starting up the heating before guests arrive would be a good idea, just so it wasn't so very cold in there.

It's too isolated where everyone and anyone has access to the area felt quite unsafe, actually The cars parked in the entrance way for the takeaway shop across the road. we had to ask to move their cars for us to gain entry The Ferry Hotel itself is a turn-off immediately. I didn't want to stay there but had no choice, but photos on the website are deceiving Rooms are really good. I wish you all the best for upcoming renovations

Would have been great to get the check in email, earlier on the day of check in. I left my previous accommodation @ 11am Then I had a 4 hour drive. Only using Wi-Fi so I didn’t get the check in instructions.

Reviewed Mar 6, 2025Location in a industrial area very deserted, The weather was bad so everything rattled from the scrapmetel place next door . Everything else good Ferry hotel no longer trading . The local siren went off 3 times, 5.30am had no idea what it meant , was scarey . Think information we googled explained it . But maybe more info for tourists would be helpful .

The location in town was dodgy, abandoned area, had to leave lights on all night for safety. There was no shampoo and conditioner, also hot plates would have been handy, as there was not a lot to offer in town to eat.

Did make a comment to lady on-site that a more visible sign of where the new units are located for first time visitors would be helpful. They're not immediately visible when entering through the guest car park of the hotel.
