Hosts are very friendly and guide you as per your preferences. Breakfast was yummy with the view of green lush mountains. Friendly Dog Goldy is there to greet you.

Everything was as per expectations.

The room was very comfortable and modern and we had a private terrace with the most stunning views of the valley. Our host was very nice and they were able to adapt the breakfast gluten free. The location is great as you can walk to Ella's main street easily but you are surrounded by nature. Overall a perfect experience!

We loved the host, she was amazing from start to finish, went above and beyond just being a host! The location was unbelievable, best place I have ever stayed in Sri Lanka and the host was so knowledgeable and gave us lots of plans/ideas to do on our trip!

Le foto purtroppo non rispecchiano del tutto la realtà della camera, che appare piuttosto datata e avrebbe decisamente bisogno di maggiore cura e manutenzione. A rendere il soggiorno più piacevole è sicuramente la vista, davvero molto bella.

Best accommodation we stayed at in Sri Lanka! Breakfast was served with the most amazing, scenic view. Calm surroundings with walking distance to Ella center. The hosts were very welcoming and relaxed while at the same time provided really good service. The breakfast was good as well.

Het uitzicht wat je hier krijgt is werkelijk fantastisch !!!! We hadden een privé terras waar iedere ochtend een heerlijk ontbijt werd gebracht met uitzicht. De eigenaresse is onwijs vriendelijk en gastvrij, spreekt uitstekend Engels en geeft leuke tips en aanraders voor de omgeving. De kamers waren super schoon en modern, met een fijne mini koelkast. 100% aan te raden.

Wow the location of this property was so amazing. Truly breathtaking views of both Ella peak and Little Adams Peak. It was so lovely to relax in the room and the balcony soaking up these views, it was hard to leave. The room was large, and a big beautiful bathroom. The breakfasts were also delicious and very big. Only a 5-10 minute walk restaurants and shops. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

Everything was so lovely, I think a mosquito net around the bed would be useful so we could open the doors at night to allow in a breeze.

Such an incredible view! The room was really comfortable and we loved having breakfast looking out over the hills each morning. The location was fantastic - just 5 mins walk from the main town but felt so quiet and calm.

Everything about Star Gaze Lodge is excellent, from the breathtaking view of Ella Rock and down the valley to the delicious breakfast prepared by Waruna. Teesha had very clear and prompt communication before, during and even after which was much appreciated. The room was very clean, bed extremely comfortable and wifi excellent. Waking up to the birds and squirrels and having breakfast on the balcony was very special. It is only a short walk into town and you can even walk to Nine Arch Bridge and Little Adams Peak. I would most definitely recommend this stay. Thanks Teesha and Waruna

Красивый вид с терассы. Ради красоты в Эллу и поехал. В номере даже бинокль обнаружился. Отличный завтрак. Центральная улица в пешей доступности. Да и до Малого пика Адама и Zipline, и девятиарочного моста дойти можно при желании.

Теплой воды в душе не обнаружил, помылся холодной. Не хватает москитных сеток. Спать с закрытыми окнами было душновато. Персонал утверждает, что это апрель 2026 такой жаркий, обычно ночами в горах прохладно. хз.

We had a wonderful stay at Star Gaze Lodge. The room was comfortable and clean and had incredible views of Ella. The staff were so lovely and attentive with lots of great recommendations. The town of Ella is just a short 5 minute walk away. I would really recommend staying here.

Als je het boekt denk je een mooie ruime kamer met balkon en uitzicht te hebben. Echter toen we aankwamen was de kamer erg klein en niet wat we hadden verwacht. 2 backpacks konden we net kwijt, maar we konden onze kont niet meer keren. In de badkamer was de fohn kapot, het toilet spoelde niet goed door en zat los. De douche was moeilijk te reguleren. De kamer had veel open kieren en gaten, waardoor we savonds een kakkerlak in de badkamer hadden zitten.

The location is perfect for exploring Ella Rock and Little Adam’s Peak. It’s only a 10 minute walk to the main street while still being very quiet and peaceful. The breakfast is generous and the view is stunning. The room is clean and spacious. The hosts are incredibly friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here and would gladly book it again.

Great location. Fantastic views from the roof terrace where we ate breakfast and star gazed at night. Teesha and Pietr are engaging hosts, a font of local knowledge, and good company, as is their dog Goldie. Also a mention for Waruna who looked after us very well.

Star Gaze Lodge is all about the view, which is simply stunning - Ella Rock & even sunrise over Little Adam’s Peak😊, it was lovely sitting on the dual aspect terrace enjoying the view & hearing just the sounds of birds. The host (Teesha) is very welcoming and gave us some great recommendations, including dinner at Clay Pot (fantastic food & ambience), Varuna, always with a big smile on his face made us very substantial & delicious breakfasts. A very good iron & board is provided & plenty of storage space. There is a fridge & kettle available in the room & we liked having a sofa to sit on to watch TV or read. Really nice touch to give fridge magnet & postcards on departure, thank you.

It is in need of some improvements, which would have resulted in a much higher score: -Ventilation is an issue, especially in the very large bathroom - you can have the window open (not feasible at night with mosquitoes) but there is no extractor fan. -There is no hot water available in the sink and the tap really does need replacing. -There is no lamp for more subtle lighting & none of the lights above the bed worked. -There are plants all around the balcony which is lovely but they do need watering! We watered them whilst we were there as they were completely dry! -The room would look better & feel cooler without the carpet and as there’s no air conditioning, the fan really needs to be on all the time on hot nights rather than only for a max of 1 hour at a time. -A couple of wine glasses provided would have been great as it would have been so nice sitting enjoying the balcony & views in the evenings.

Very lovely couple that were very attentive. Varuna was very accommodating as well! The room itself was absolutely stunning and the view was gorgeous to wake up to as well as to watch the stars at night. Truly an amazing place to stay!

Beautiful place, away from the noise, yet everything is within walking distance. Gorgeous view from the balcony, but what truly makes it stand out are the owners! Teesha and her husband are the most kind and heartwarming people. They made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived - were exceptionally helpful, extremely responsive, always there for me whenever I needed something, gave me lots of recommendations, even lent me an umbrella when it rained, and helped me move my luggage to the hotel next door (in rain!!) when I had to check out because their place was full. I felt so looked after - they truly made my stay. Highly recommend their place! :)

Beautiful place to stay. The room was amazing with a large wrap around balcony overlooking Ella Rock which made you feel completely emmersed in nature.. You really could not get a better view. Breakfast in the morning was superb, the owners are so helpful and friendly, providing phone numbers for transport and organising trips. We went to Ravanna falls which is a must do, a tuktuk and guide was organised for us. Everyone wants to make your stay as amazing as possible. You are away from the busyness of Ella, but only a 5/6 minute walk away. We really wanted to stay longer and when we are in Ella again we would stay here.

Lovely wrap around balcony with stunning views

Hands down our host. She was kind and gentle, gave good recommendations and made you feel welcome from the moment you met. The location is superb, close to the action but far away from the noise. The views from your veranda is out of this world.

We did not managed to book the big room with the views. Our room was basic and functional. Need more hooks and space for your belongings. If you cannot book the big room but still want to enjoy the warm hospitality, make sure you manage your expectations. We still enjoyed ourselves but will try to book the big room next time.

Semplicemente fantastico! Siamo stati da loro per due sere, ma avrei voluto restare molto più a lungo. Le camere erano pulite, la doccia calda, la vista davvero mozzafiato. Ma ciò che ha reso il soggiorno speciale sono stati soprattutto loro: due persone straordinarie, sempre gentili, disponibili e pronte ad aiutarci in ogni cosa. La vista era tra le più belle che abbiamo visto a Ios, e grazie ai loro consigli abbiamo scoperto posti meravigliosi. È stato un piacere chiacchierare con loro e condividere momenti insieme. Inoltre, hanno un grande amore per gli animali e fanno di tutto per salvarne e accudirne quanti più possibile. Un’esperienza perfetta sotto ogni aspetto

Nous avons adoré notre séjour au Star Gaze Lodge. Nous avons été chaleureusement accueillis par Teesha qui nous a aidé tout au long du séjour. Nous avions la chambre sans la vue sur les montagnes, mais nous avions accès à la très grande terrasse du dessus avec une vue spectaculaire. Terrasse sur laquelle le petit déjeuner également et qui nous était presque privative. Le petit déjeuner était le meilleur que nous avions eu jusqu’à présent. Le logement est très bien situé environ 7 minutes à pied du centre, dans un endroit très calme. Tout le personnel a vraiment été aux petits soins avec nous.

Si nous devions trouver une seule piste d’amélioration, ça serait l’absence de climatisation ainsi que l’absence de rideaux occultant. Notre chambre se situait sur un lieu de passage donc nous avions du bruit assez tôt le matin mais globalement nous avons l’impression que l’isolation phonique est à peu près partout pareil au Sri Lanka.

Pequeño lodge de dos habitaciones, lo lleva una pareja joven encantadora que vive en la planta baja de la casa. La habitación es gigante, con un baño enorme y una terraza super agradable con vistas a Ella Rock. Limpieza impecable. Varuna es la persona que se encarga de llevar el lodge, es un experto en trekkings y da unas recomendaciones muy buenas. Además cocina unos desayunos riquísimos, que sirve en la terraza de la habitación, con zumo recién hecho, tostadas, frutas y un plato local. El lodge se encuentra en una zona muy tranquila, que se agradece porque el pueblo es muy ruidoso, pero a pocos minutos caminando de la calle principal. Se puede ir andando a todo lado. Los propietarios son encantadores, sobre todo Teesha, que es un sol y ha sido un placer charlar con ella. Tienen 2 perros súpero simpáticos, sobre todo Goldie que es muy cariñosa.

Lodge bellissimo immerso nella natura con vista direttamente su Ella Rock e Little Adam’s Peak, a cinque minuti a piedi dal centro di Ella! I proprietari sono gentilissimi e molto disponibili, la stanza era molto bella, pulitissima e dotata di ogni comfort. Waruna ci ha preparato la miglior colazione che abbiamo provato qua in Sri Lanka (con vista mozzafiato) e ci ha anche rimediato un tuk tuk all’ultimo minuto. Tutto perfetto! Lodge imperdibile se passate da Ella!

La camera è accogliente con una vista bellissima sulle montagne. La colazione è servita in terrazzo, quindi con una vista spettacolare. Siamo stati solo una notte e all'arrivo la signora che ci ha accolto ci ha dato alcuni suggerimenti utili tra cui la visita ad Amba tea farm che è stata bellissima

La struttura non è segnalata, il driver ha faticato a trovare il posto che è in una stradina buia in salita, quindi se uscite la sera meglio prendere un tuk tuk. Il bagno non è ben rifinito (il lavandino aveva il rubinetto rotto e mancava il box doccia). Considerando il prezzo della stanza, allineato a quello di una stanza di hotel 4 stelle in Sri Lanka, il rapporto qualità prezzo non è dei migliori

De uitbaters van Star Gaze Lodge waren super vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Ze hielpen met heel veel plezier en passie om Ella te ontdekken. Ze gaven tal van tips voor leuke activiteiten, goede massages, lekkere restaurantjes. Op 5 minuten sta je in het bruisende centrum van Ella, maar hier heb je toch de rust en kalmte. Zalig! Vanop het terras boven heb je ook een fantastisch zicht op de vallei! Kortom het is een ideale locatie als je als koppel op zoek bent naar een rustig stekje in Ella!

Wij kozen voor de kleine kamer, welke juist gepast is voor 2 personen. Doordat er vrij veel meubels en decoratie in de kamer staat, geeft het een vrij krap gevoel. Wanneer je het raam van de badkamer 's avonds sluit tegen de muggen, ruikt het er wat muf. De accomodatie is wel vrij proper!

Stay here for a relaxing stay with beautiful people in the most amazing place on earth. Very walkable to all attractions in Ella. Delicious breakfast. And hosts were amazing! Worried about AC… don’t be. This place is high in the mountains. With a fan you may even be cold.

The view from Star Gaze Lodge is breath-taking! The location is about 15 minutes walk from the City Centre. Breakfast was delicious with a view on Ella Rock. Star Gaze crew was very helpful and kind to us. They were very friendly and happy to have conversation with us. The room was warm with hot water :)

Everything was exeptionnal to be honest. It was my best hotel in my journey in srilanka. Yeah it was more expensive than the others but it was worth every cent. The view was fascinating, food was great, the owners were adorable. Highly recommended. Oh yeah, it's close to everything

Difficult road to get to the property

The lodge is beautiful with only 2-3 rooms. We got the biggest one with the best view and it did not disappoint. The glorious Ella rock view is worth it. The room was quite large with a sizable bathroom and 2 balconies. We loved the extra items in the room, for example there were games, a drying towel rack, two sets of outdoor furniture in the balcony, the hosts even kept a repellent spray for convenience! Delicious breakfast is served by the lovely staff in the balcony and it is probably the best thing about the stay. Highly recommend spending 1-2 nights in the lodge. The hosts are a super nice couple and they're very welcoming and helpful. (They paid for our food order when we didn't have enough change, which is quite lovely of them)

While the positives largely outweigh the negatives - we found the bed to be a bit small and not as comfortable. Also there was a standing fan in the room which we had trouble positioning so there could be enough ventilation but not direct airflow on us. Also, the lodge has two beautiful pet dogs. One is super friendly, one is less happy with guests lately so there was some barking whenever we entered the lodge. Nothing to worry about though but just a heads up for anyone who isn't comfortable with dogs!

I had a great home stay experience at Star Gaze Lodge. The room was spacious, had a private bathroom, and offered an amazing view. One of the highlights was enjoying a freshly cooked, delicious breakfast on the balcony each morning. The location is great, just about a 10-minute walk to the Main Street and plenty of restaurants nearby, and a short walk to the starting point of the Little Adam’s Peak trail. The hosts were fantastic, very warm, responsive, and helpful. They kindly assisted with laundry services and even shared great local recommendations. A special thank you to Teesha, who joined me on a tour to a tea plantation – it was such a memorable day. They also have two adorable dogs, although I didn’t get to spend much time with them. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Nice room, stylishly decorated with a large bathroom and smart TV. Good facilities including bedside lights, games etc. Decent breakfast. Easily walkable to the main street in Ella as well as good hikes. Very friendly owners, who kindly removed our breakfast charge from the room for our last day as we were leaving very early, and arranged a tuktuk for us to the station.

We were really misled by the booking, which we raised during our stay. We were aware we didn’t have the more expensive room with the most spectacular view, but the booking DOES list having a private terrace and the pictures are deliberately misleading, as others who’ve stayed in this room have also noted. Firstly be aware that your room is the only one literally next to the only entrance to the property visible all the way up the stairs, meaning you will need to have your curtains closed for any semblance of privacy, particularly as staff were going directly in front of our room constantly. More importantly though, we did NOT have a private terrace accessible to us. The terrace we did have was absolutely filthy, with no seating as advertised, laundry drying (presumably the owners’) and a really, really ill cat living up there. We are cat lovers but this cat was in an appalling state and we should have been made aware that we would not have access to a terrace as a result, and a discount offered accordingly. Instead, we were told we could use another terrace outside someone else’s room, which had a view but involved walking through our filthy one and climbing over a high fence to the other side of the building. It also wasn’t cleaned and the furniture was covered in water and leaves! We had been really looking forward to this stay as it was for our anniversary and left feeling really disappointed and deceived.

One of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at! The views were absolutely incredible. It is in a nice quiet location about a 5 minute walk from the Main Street. We spent our mornings relaxing on our balcony overlooking the mountains and spotting the different birds in the area ! The breakfast was also outstanding. There are games in the room which are useful for rainy days. The host and hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helped us plan activities & arranged any rides that we needed. We only wish we could’ve stayed longer !

Fantastic views and large comfortable room with balcony on 2 sides. Our host was friendly and helpful. The location is good, less than a 5 minute walk into Ella centre, though parts of the track are unlit and muddy (it rained when we were there)

The main issue is the access - the steps to the property are steep and uneven, quite tricky getting up them, never mind doing it carrying a suitcase. But that’s the price you pay for the view. Lots of dogs around so barking dogs in the night was a minor irritation - but I think that would be true anywhere in Ella as it’s a busy place.

Very comfortable room, just off the Main Street which was only a 5 minute walk. The host was super friendly and was very helpful with everything. Views from our stay were amazing, showing you all the valley and mountains.

I’d be mindful of bringing a suitcase as the roads aren’t suited, but really not an issue, just an FYI

First of all, we love the fact that the owners are pet lovers and actually have 2 dogs on the property. The hosts are very nice and super helpful and have a great vibe. We were stunt by the view both from the room and at the breakfast area. Everithing is 10/10

Teesha and her assistant Waruna are taking really good care of their guests. They were available in case of questions, provided inspiration on trips and organized transport to town and further destinations. The location of the residence is extraordinary with great looks on Little Adam’s Peak and Ella Rock while being just a 5 mins walk away from town. There are two rooms available only which are very modern and providing everything you need. We stayed in the smaller room which comes with a garden view only. However, with good weather conditions, breakfast will be served on the roof top with a view.

Although we knew we would stay in the smaller room while we did the booking, we were surprised how small it really is. There was literally no place where we could leave our luggage. Being in a tropical climate, we would have appreciated shelves and some more hooks to at least hang some stuff to dry. Unfortunately, there were no mosquito nets available either which made it difficult to let some fresh air in and to air the bathroom after showering leading to a humid indoor climate.

The best place to stay in Ella! From location, through hosts, to food - everything was amazing. I highly recommend this place for its views, its quiet location, the comfortable and modern looking rooms, the great advices from the hosts and the tasty breakfast. Wi-Fi was great and fast, we did not encounter even one mosquito or insect in the room, which was a nice surprise, since we were in the jungle.
