Everything was perfect. The location. The peaceful hostel. And getting to know Rahul and his experiences.

Rahul is a great person that really cares about the stay of his guests. His priority is your safety and that you enjoy Alleppey. The hostel has a warm atmosphere and is very cheap if you travel on a budget. I really recommend the canoeing village tour and the sunrise kayaking!

The hostel can feel a bit far from the city center, but actually the hostel is right next to the backwaters where you can enjoy boat, canoe or kayak ride which is the main thing to experience in Alleppey

This accommodation was a gem. The location is right on the backwaters, it's peaceful and comfortable, but the best part was the staff. The host Rahul was so friendly and helped with how to order food, tuk tuks and other local recommendations. Stay here, you won't regret it ❤️

The location is right by the backwaters - the highlight of the town! The owner is very helpful with anything you need - activities, info for food, transport etc. Dorms are basic but everything you need.

Great place to stay near the serene backwater. We went kayaking during sunset and it was a very pleasant experience. Rahul is a very good host and very helpful.

The hotel was perfectly situated beside the backwaters of Alappuzha, just a few steps from the riverside, offering stunning sunrise views, and the sunset kayak experience on Vembanad Lake was truly one of the best I’ve ever had.

We stayed here for 2 weeks! Super relaxing hostel by the backwaters. The property is big and has a lot of space! The dorm is clean and comfortable. They have everything for music, arts, and games. Rahul is such a nice guy and is very helpful with everything we need.

This hostel is my favourite in India hands down! Rahul is the best and can give you the best local info as well as being such a welcoming host. The beds are comfortable and the AC works really well. The hostel is super social but chill and relaxed, and we went for a hostel family meal which was so nice. Location is right by the backwaters so super authentic and convenient! For the price you honestly can’t find better.

Location is 20 meters from the back waters which is good. The manager is very friendly and very easy to talk to. I liked the energy of the place.

The place really does need improvement. Dorms have no curtains for the minimum privacy, no air con just a ceiling fan but does not do the job unfortunately. The dorm was very hot. The bathroom has a lot of mould from floor to walls, the shower holder on the wall is broken. I know, it's very cheap but the basics were not there for me. The second day I decided to stay at the same hostel but got a private room. Much more comfortable. Bedding is good, decent bathroom and having a large fridge in the room is a great added value.

I absolutely adored the place! It’s close to some lovely backwaters, and the sunrise from the viewpoint was absolutely stunning, with such peaceful bird singing. You could even take a short ride in the backwaters from there. The staff were wonderful, and Rahul was incredibly supportive and helpful, making sure everyone had a fantastic time exploring Alleppey. I even met some strangers who have since become friends and family.

I absolutely loved the place. There’s nothing to do; it has everything you need. Even if someone writes a negative review, don’t believe it until you’ve seen and visited yourself. You’ll fall in love with the place and the friendly helpful people.

Staff is exceptional and they help you in every possible way , also the location is just beside the backwaters.I've absolutely enjoyed my time at the hostel 🥂⭐⭐⭐⭐

Super location ,we also had a river tour in the morning and sun set tour booked through the hostel.Host made us very welcome and helped all the way. People we met there made it even better.

The place is very calm and peaceful located right on the backwaters. The host Rahul was very welcoming and helpful. Best stay for solo traveller's.

The owner is very respectable, I loved the concept of the hostel, there is anything you might need. And I stayed in a laddies room, so it's easy even to have a company for a tour or conversation, but if you look for it. Food opportunities nearby, private village area

I was missing in the room: mosquito plug, bed table or shelf, better to sleep in trousers and long sleeve. I was on some holidays and parties, so it was booked completely. But the owner managed it all. Can't say I was exited by the attitude from Mathew, he helps with all, but was constantly busy with asking Instagram and what's up from the girls))), anytime repeated "ask him, not me" (the owner), thought it was he who checked me in and took money for the tour as well. I find it weard,as I worked as a guide and guest relations about 10 years .

The staff are very helpfu and friendly,they organise things like boating trips and visits to the beach,the hostel is clean and comfortable and very close to the backwater canal,

Its a little far from the town centre its about 4km by the auto or you can get on the local bus but they dont run so often or its walkable in 45mins,

Emplacement au calme, ça fait du bien! Des balcons et terrasses pour chiller à l'ombre et rencontrer les autres voyageurs. La literie est confortable. Pour le prix tout est vraiment parfait. Ce qui fait de cet hôtel un lieu exceptionnel c'est son staff, incroyablement attentionné, répond à toutes vos questions, organise tout ce dont vous avez besoin et rend le l'endroit extrêmement convivial: repas ensemble, sorties en ville le soir pour des évènements... Je recommande à 1000%

The private room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Excellent value for money. Rahul, Nicole, Bharti and Mathew are incredibly friendly and welcoming. They helped me out with whatever I needed like autos to the city, local recommendations etc. I also did the shared backwaters tour they help arrange and it was a nice experience. It was also great to meet people from around the world.

Breakfast and maybe a small cafe at the property would make the atmosphere more social. They are already working towards it :)

The volunteers and owner were friendly

Weird set up for a dorm, with no real consideration to guests having access to a locker, privacy curtains, bed lights. I barely slept the whole time as my bed was right by the heavy door so anyone coming in and out at night, shook the bed. No rules to ensure considerations as guests (no quiet time etc) I wouldn't recommend

I had an amazing stay at Course of life, Everybody was so nice It felt like home, would 10000% recommend!!

Bit away from town but owner will call a Tuk tuk for you if you need and you can get food delivered so really isn’t an issue

Rahul and Nicole are so incredibly friendly and helpful with great recommendations. They have scooters available to hire. The canoe tour that is offered was a great way to see the backwaters and local villages. Rooms are exceptional value for money. Very comfortable beds. We stayed 2 nights in a private room which is more like a 5 star hotel! And 1 night in women’s dorm which was spacious and comfortable. The location is great, right on the backwaters.

It’s a bit far away from town but tuk tuks are cheap and you can get there quickly.

As previous reviews have mentioned, Rahul was an outstanding host. He instantly made me feel welcome and was always available when I had a question. He is very knowledgeable about the area. Laundry came back smelling wonderful. The tour was amazing, excellent food, relaxing canoe ride through small canals watching village life go by, excellent bird watching. Rahul went above and beyond to make my stay wonderful, one of the best places I've stayed at.

The property is located at the best place possible, barely 15 steps from backwaters where you can go sunrise kayaking and probably take a walk. Overall experience at the hostel was crazy, the host Rahul was extremely helpful, recommended the best places and arranged our transport. Loved the vibe of the place, connected with some amazing travellers. Would 100% recommend this place!

Comodo per imbarco su houseboat e situato a 10 minuti di macchina o tuktuk dal centro. Molto carina la terrazza esterna alla stanza, attrezzata con tavolino, sedie e prese per la corrente. La camera era molto ampia.

Non abbiamo potuto accedere alla colazione perché c'erano problemi. Purtroppo però nom ci sono bar vicini in zona, e comunque in generale apre tutto dopo le 10. La doccia non ha un piatto o una tenda quindi quando ci si fa la doccia si bagna tutto il bagno. Inoltre ci hanno dato un asciugamano con evidenti macchie e in generale il livello di pulizia potrebbe migliorare (ad esempio il lampadario era pieno di ragnatele)

Everything.. Place is very good. Right besides the backwaters. Very convenient. Nice and clam surrounded with trees. Host is very friendly and helpfull. Verry friendly volunteers too.. 100% recommend!!!

I wish I could give a +++ over and above the perfect rating. This hostel is wonderful in every way, I have stayed twice and will be back again. A chill part of town, right on the backwaters. Rahul is a host like no other, assisting with arranging everything you could need. Kayaking, canoeing, a shikhara, a house boats, transport, food. A happy, friendly, relaxed vibe. I can't recommend Course of Life enough!

Rahul was an amazing host - he was so friendly and helpful. He is a natural hostel owner who can bring people together! The private room was spacious and very clean and the communal areas on the balconies were a nice place to hang out with people.

The only downside for us was that the hostel was around a 40 minute walk into town for restaurants etc, however it was very easy to get a tuk tuk and it’s in a quiet street near the backwaters if that’s what you’re looking for.

Definitely recommend this place to stay. See you again

Everything was great!

This hostel is an absolute gem. We stayed in one of the private rooms which felt luxurious compared to other hostels. Very clean, air con and comfortable bed. But the best part was the host, Rahul, who was so friendly and helped us out with a great houseboat, tuk tuks and local recommendations. Stay here, you won't regret it ❤️
