Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Beautiful location - in the garden near the beautiful Borris house. Rooms probably made from stables. Good heating. Comfortable beds.
Rooms very simple, but spacious.
The setting is amazing. Did you know it is on the beautiful grounds of Borris House. Check in/out is simple. The room was warm, simple and immaculately clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. I slept like a log.
Nothing
Beautiful setting, lovely rooms, with everything you'd need.
Nothing
We had booked a two night stay. We arrived late at night to find the entire property in complete darkness. With great difficulty in the dark we eventually located the rooms. Upon entering the accommodation, we immediately noticed very poor air quality, high humidity, and excessive heat. There was also a strong smell of sewerage in both en‑suite bathrooms. The accommodation was not as advertised, as there was no living room despite this being clearly stated in the listing. Within a few minutes, all four members of our group agreed that, due to the air quality and overall conditions, there was no way we could sleep in the accommodation. As a result, we left the property and were forced to find alternative accommodation late at night. We notified the staff member we were dealing with the following morning and were assured that we would receive a full refund. However, despite subsequent communication with both Booking.com and the accommodation provider, our money has still not been refunded.
Cold and floors were wet throughout
Location is beautiful, Borris house is magnificent.
It could be a lot warmer , on arrival only one of the radiators in sitting room was turned on, A television 📺 would be great
Very clean and cosy.close to the main street.would def stay again
Location was very good. Was very clean and easy to get into the property
No TV no kit him to cook which was an issue as nowhere in Borris did breakfast apart from a take away from O’Sheas
Warm . Comfortable beds
Outside to dark . Didn’t arrive till late . Took a long while to find room
Sehr unkompliziertes Checkin
Kein TV 😃
Lovely location Staff were great to deal with Clean and warm rooms
The room was lovely, clean and warm. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was just amazing. The area was very quiet with no noise to interrupt our sleep.
The lack of lighting on the drive and no shelves in the bathroom.
O it stunning location and accommodation so warm and homely. So peacefully and stepping out to have view borris house was stunning. Directions was so clear and it was just amazing to drive up to gate and arrive into courtyard which was stunning and peacefull and so safe and family friendly. Lovely cosy room such high standard .total value for money. All u need there for relaxing break. Kettle and tea tray at door such lovely welcome touch. Lovely walk on grounds to village pubs. Loved every min my stay.
Would liked lights when parking car to walk to accommodation and maybe little map as to how to get out to street.got little confused where I was located. Bug minor issue to total wonderfull stay we had.
The location
Directions were not clear images would be helpful
Amazing place to stay such easy directions would easily stay there again.
Extremely comfortable. And good value
A pump behind the property was quite noisy. But the manager sorted it out immediately. It wasn’t a big deal in the end.
Location
Value for money. Hotel price with breakfast comes in cheaper.
Spacious, comfortable, peaceful
Nothing!
The location
Very large window in room, no blind. Price in comparison to hotels with breakfast was expensive.
Awesome location with lots of places to explore and good facilities.
Location is beautiful
For the price someone should meet and greet guests. Aa fridge in the room with fresh milk for tea and coffee
A beautiful setting immersed in nature with comfortable rooms and a quaint village to explore.
Borris village is really picturesque and is a pleasant drive from Dublin. We chose Borris House as a friend had attended a wedding here and we wanted access to the River Barrow and also be close to Mount Leinster. Our family really loved the whole experience.
Borris a hidden gem with lots of outdoor activites to choose from. We spent the afternoon walking the River Barrow by Clashganny House (restaurant) and there was alot of activity on the river (fishing and kayaking). There was a beautiful cafe (Plur) in local pub which helped fuel the activites in afternoon. Borris House is really beautiful and was great value for money The room, the bed, the experience all exceeded expectations.
Close to Castle!!, Rooms spotless. Bed soooo comfy. Warm. Loads of space for parking. We love Borris. Did I mention it was close to Castle lol, 🤣
I didn't like the fact that we were only staying one night!!
The heritage of the house and grounds are very impressive. The room at Uppperyard was comfortable and quiet at night. The entrance through the gate lodge and the horses in field beside our room really added to our experience.
Staff were friendly, room was very nice and we enjoyed the peaceful surroundings of Borris village. There were plenty of places to go for a walk close by and the traditional pubs in the village were great. We also stopped in Osbournes in Rathana after a hike up Mount Leinster.
We had a wonderful night away in Borris. We stayed in the Upperyard and really enjoyed the authentic experience. We drove from Dublin and was a pleasant drive. Borris House is marvellous and a sight to behold. Luckily we were greeted by Morgan on entering the grounds. He helped get us get checked in and gave us some tips on places to go while in the area. We visted the Nine Stones (Mount Leinster) and Altamont Garden before returning to Borris to have a delicious meal in the Step House.
The grounds of Borris House are like a movie set. The gardens, the horses and sheep really add to the charm. We stayed in double room and was ideal for our stay. The walk over Borris Viaduct through village was picturesque and lovely way to spend the afternoon.
The grounds of Borris House are incredible if you like nature. Access to the River Barrow and we also hiked Mount Leinster the following day. We stayed in Upperyard and rooms were lovely. Nice decor and great shower. Clean, warm and comfortable.
Great location for a night away. The grounds are majestic and the entrance gate into Borris House is worth the drive alone (1.5 hours from Dublin). After walking by River Barrow, we enjoyed a dinner in Clashganny House and then some drinks in Joyce's. We were invited to return to Joyces the next morning, where we got some coffee and fresh pastries from Plur bakery. We returned to Dublin happy out.
We recently had the pleasure of staying at Borris House for one night, and it was a delightful experience. The property itself is stunning, steeped in history and set amidst beautiful gardens that provide a tranquil atmosphere. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and impeccably clean. We appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as the comfortable bedding and tea/coffee and biscuits provided. The hosts were warm and welcoming, making me feel right at home. They provided excellent recommendations for local dining and attractions all in walking distance, which enhanced our stay. Borris House is a perfect blend of comfort and charm, making it an ideal spot for anyone looking to escape for a night or two. I highly recommend it and will definitely be returning!
The setting was very nice and the room nicely furnished. Large bathroom.
We didn't feel they were really ready for guests. We had a very bad nights sleep due to various issues which i wont go into but which were addressed by the hosts appropriately at the time and post stay. This accomadation was quite expensive compared to other properties we stayed at but it lacked things that it should have had for the money and which cheaper properties provided - for instance there were a few basic tea bags and coffee sachets rather than a nice selection of teas and quality coffee. The booking.com website said there would be biscuits or chocolate- there wasn't. No breakfast facilities either but a lovely hotel close by did a very good cooked breakfast. We went to a nearby hotel for breakfast. Borris house twin room is overpriced for what you get I'm afraid.
This booking is absolutely outstanding. Each bedroom was perfect, the staff were wonderful and so helpful leading up to the booking. There isn’t a bad thing I could say about this booking. Safe to say we will be returning again☺️
Comfortable bed and location
When we arrived, there was no one to allocate room. Went to farm and spoke to a workman who was kind enough to ring the owner. He came out of Borris House and was not very sociable. We stayed in accommodation No.1 (€210 per night for 2 people) Double room with sofa bed. There was a large window in the room with the sofa bed which had shutters that could not open as they were secured by a large beam on the outside. They appeared not to have been opened or cleaned for some time. The glass was covered with bird droppings and there were old cobwebs between the glass and the shutters, (in the photos on the site the shutters were open). The wardrobe in the upstairs room was an opening in front of a door with hangers. There were cobwebs in the hall cupboard and in the bathroom. When in the bathroom the conversation between the guests in accommodation No.2 could be clearly heard. The only outdoor furniture were large communal tables and benches in an open sided shed across from the property.
nice renovation of the old farm buildings. It was a very convenient location for us as we were spending a weekend paddling on the river Barrow
The surroundings of the area where the accommodation was could be maintained a little better. I appreciate its a working farm also so I understand thats not straight forward. But when looking to have guests stay i think a little more effort would go a long way.
Absolutely not interested in guests.
There was no one to assign the room. We tried to find someone for nearly an hour, went to the castle, the farm, etc. but there was no one there. Host did not answer the phone nor responded to messages. Eventually we just entered a room which had a key in the door and took it because we had paid all upfront (180 euro) but it was probably for someone else, but what could we do? Room was very basic with spiderwebs in bathroom and toilet not working. There were a handful other guests that managed to set off the fire alarm while cooking. Terrible night.
Property is very pretty converted coach houses/ stables on a stately home. There was a mix up with our reservation, but they had room for us across the street in a very nice B&B above a beautiful old pub. We were well taken care of and would return to either property next time we are there.
Clean and comfortable.
