Easy walk to town. Large rooms and helpful staff and a great breakfast

We stayed in an attic room with spiral stairs a bit of a challenge with heavy bags. Although help was offered. Great views countered the stairs however.

Nice light and clean room and bathroom. Good hot breakfast was included. Staff were very kind to store our bags on the day we checked out as the ferry leaves late in the day and we could come back later and pick up our luggage.

I liked everything

This was our second stay at Alder Lodge and won’t be our last. The location is perfect for exploring Lerwick as it is within walking distance to everything. There is a bus stop within a 3-minute walk that provides easy access to the airport and other points of interest on the mainland. The bus fare is only £2 regardless of the length of the journey and you can pay by tapping your credit card. The room was extremely comfortable with two large closets to unpack and feel at home. The Wifi works great and the shower pressure was the best I’ve experienced at any hotel. The staff is very welcoming and accommodating. They were kind enough to do a small bag of laundry for us at a very fair price. The breakfast is outstanding! They have a hearty hot breakfast including, bacon, eggs, beans, sausage, toast. The porridge is the hidden gem of the breakfast menu. I highly recommend trying it!

Very convenient location and the staff were lovely. . There was a nice homely feel.

Unusually clean and nice. Relatively simple and down to earth, yet very solid and high quality in all interior details. The breakfast was good with a personal touch, and the host extremely nice and friendly. Very good value for money.

Great location, quiet area, beds comfortable. Decent shower, nice breakfast, wifi excellent, large room. Easy checkin and checkout. Able to store luggage and use the common lounge room with very comfortable chairs upon checkout. Would absolutely recommend and return.

Bathroom amenities a bit basic but functional. Some rooms are on 2nd floor, no elevator (not an issue for us, simply stating for those with disabilities would be difficult)

The breakfast was excellent, with really good coffee, and lots of choices. Overall, this was a very good guest house for us, despite a very small room and very small uncomfortable bed. We did like being on the first floor near the parlor as that made getting to our room easy with no stairs involved. Vanessa was wonderful!

Room was very small and cramped with only one small chair for seating. Bed was very small and not very comfortable.

Breakfast was excellent, set you up for the day, and location was ideal, we had a car hire and a blue disabled badge, there was a disabled parking area at the nearby corner.

The shower was very narrow, but the water pressure was good. The toiletries provided in sachets weren’t great, we just bought at local Tesco.

Good location, just a short walk down into Lerwick. A little dated but exceptionally clean, comfortable and gorgeous breakfast. . Staff are lovely and can’t do enough to help you. A fantastic little place.

Parking is limited outside, however lots of free parking really close so it’s not a problem at all

Comfortable room and good breakfasts. Close to the town centre and bus stops for the route south to Sumburgh. Lots of great places to see around Shetland.

More than I usually pay for accommodation but I get the impression Shetland is pretty expensive to stay in generally.

Sehr schönes kleines Hotel mit frisch renovierten Zimmern. Alles top hergerichtet. Wunderschöne Lodge zum Warten, falls man Abends die Fähre nehmen möchte. Kaffee und Tee frei. Sehr leckeres Frühstück mit großer Auswahl. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Die Betten waren sehr bequem.

Wir hatten ein kleines Problem mit dem Check in, da eine Mail nicht ankam. Aber das hat sich problemlos lösen lassen. Hotel liegt an der Hauptstraße, aber die Fenster sind sehr gut verglast, so dass es sehr ruhig ist.

Walking distance to most restaurants. Staff were super friendly and helpful. They always got back to you whether it was directly face-to-face or via email if they weren’t working the next day. Room was comfortable and the breakfast was absolutely amazing.

Quello che colpisce di più è l'accoglienza da parte di Vanessa e della sua famiglia: gentili, cortesi, sempre disponibili. Colazione era assolutamente perfetta. La posizione del Lodge è centrale. È senz'altro un un luogo in cui si sta bene, e lo sceglierei sicuramente per il mio prossimo soggiorno a Lerwick.

Everything about the Alder Lodge Guest House was fantastic. The room was very clean and comfortable. The shower was great. There were tea and coffee facilities in the room with a good selection of biscuits, varying each day. The room was nice and quiet. Vanessa was extremely attentive, from keeping in touch about arrivals, offering bag storage before checkin / after checkout, to serving a great breakfast in the mornings. She also offered ideas for trips based on extensive local knowledge. Breakfast itself was a great selection including fruit juices, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, porridge, full cooked breakfast including eggs, bacon, sausages, black pudding, mushrooms, tomato and beans, brown or white toast, tea or coffee. The location is good, being about 10 minute walk to the centre or Lerwick. There is a bus stop just across the road which was also handy for catching the bus to places like Sumburgh. I would definitely look to stay at Alder Lodge again.

Everything was perfect, lovely warm welcome on our first day from Vanessa, our room and the Guest House was spotless, Breakfast in the morning was cooked perfectly and we also had a good range of continental items to chose from. Great location only few minutes walk into the shops , pubs etc.

The location is perfect. A few minutes walk into town and on a bus route. The owner was super friendly giving answers to any question. The room was perfect with superb views. The breakfast was excellent! A really enjoyable stay. I would visit again.

Bad owners, left us on street at 10:30pm ,!! Shocking!!, we checked and booked when there was 3 room's left, and when I booked went to 2, room's, and thay said we had dubble booked????

Stayed at the Alderlodge many times over the years. Vanessa can't do enough for you and the breakfast is excellent. No wonder this guest house has maximum occupancy most of the time. Thanks again to all the team!

The room was a good size and had the main facilities, the staff that we met were friendly , in particular Vanessa who was very helpful.. The breakfast choice was very good.

The bathroom could do with an upgrade, which believe was due to be done shortly. There was some road noise as it faced the main road, especially with the window open , necessary when the weather was warm,

Die Lage war sehr zentral , man war sofort im Zentrum von Lerwick als auch auf dem wunderbaren Weg entlang des Meeres. Das abwechslungsreiche Frühstück konnte man entspannt genießen bei sehr freundlicher Bedienung!

This was a great place to stay! Access was granted early and it was easy to get in. It was clean and very comfortable. The communication was great from Vanessa. Its located within walking distance from the shops and cafes. I had a great night's sleep. Very much recommended.

Vanessa was friendly, welcoming and helpful. Room very comfortable, just a bit dated however I am aware there is a gradual refurbishment happening. Nice to have fridge in room. Breakfast cooked to order.
