The Finns are the hosts, and they are extraordinary in welcoming guests. The breakfast was superb, with Edith making sure all is delicious, and John cooks. It's wonderful to stay at Aherne's with such hospitality
All was great! I didn't drive so I can't comment on parking, etc.
Lovely staff
It’s beautifully presented with huge rooms, lots of light, antique furniture, very comfortable beds, spotlessly clean. Wonderfully welcoming people, an absolutely delicious selection of food for breakfast (probably the best breakfast that I’ve ever had in a stay away)! The townhouse is attached to a restaurant and bar which is also great, but there’s a lot of privacy with a lovely little breakfast room full of light and crisp linen tablecloths, and a beautiful lounge to relax in which was so elegant and comfortable. I would happily have stayed for much longer!
Nothing. It was a lovely stay. The place was under new management (I knew the previous owners who were terrific) and I was worried that standards would have slipped but absolutely not—it was wonderful.
Breakfast and food excellent ,
The milk was gone off in bedroom ,no iron ,had to ask for one , my partnwr was told they had none , but when i asked thwy got us one , curtain in shower very dangerous ,for a large person your all tangled up in it , missed 1 breakfast but was still charged for it ,

Welcoming staff and quaint property.
Liked it all.
Nice staff Jason very welcoming. Room and bathroom were a little dated, but bed very comfortable.
Food was amazing staff were amazing would highly recommend
Everything was perfect
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food in Aherne's is excellent. Do not pass the seafood options
Breakfast good location very quiet
Room could be a little cosy outdated furniture
Very comfy room, great shower, lovely breakfast
Na
Clean and spacious
Scruffy rear area
Breakfast was good
Common areas had dirty carpets and sofas in sitting room were dirty also. So on entering the building my experience was not good
breakfast and location fine
Terrible and disturbing noise during dinner caused by a party of 9 men shouting and laughing. Waitress was asked to tell them to be quiet. She would not. Other diners were angry and one couple left pretty soon. My wife spoke to one of the men as he was leaving. No apologies from him. Receptionist was approached as we were leaving the following morning - he appeared not to care and in fact walked away.
Food was good and the accommodation was clean.
Shower was difficult to operate and ran cold for the second person. TV wasn’t working as in a previous review. Stairs were poorly lit and dangerous at bottom. Bunch of keys needed for entry to each area. No lift for heavy cases.
Very welcoming hosts, clean, quiet and spacious room, bar & restaurant (wonderful meal, with a perfectly poured Guinness) are on premises, lovely breakfast was included as well
It was amazing
Very comfortable, lovely staff, beautiful food , all good.

Staff were wonderful. Our room was very clean and spacious food was amazing
The staff were very friendly and the food in the restaurant was second to none.
Nothing.
Bedroom, food, staff…
A really lovely family run hotel. Unique rooms and an exceptional restaurant. We had a fabulous meal. The Sea food really is first class. Very reasonably priced across the board. We hope to be back soon.
Great location , the room was fine and big , staff were very friendly and the breakfast was lovely
Excellent as always
Friendly staff and central location in the city
Nothing to declare
Everyone was do friendly & made you feel welcome, food excellent 👌
Very old school Irish
Ahernes is a very friendly, and central location in Youghal. Their food is top notch.
All good.
Great location staff were very nice and helpful would return again
Accommodation were very comfortable.
Nothing
Lovely rooms, great food, secure (motorcycle) parking, a warm welcome and excellent service. And an awesome breakfast.
Nothing.
Absolutely brilliant stay, huge rooms, very friendly staff - David in particular. Excellent food and great atmosphere with lots of local custom in addition to hotel guests.
All was great, difficult to find fault
The friendliness of all the staff, and the cheff offering to make us something to eat even tough his shift was finished.
The shower was old
We felt very welcome and at home.
Cosy, lovely bar area, great breakfast, fabulous food and engaging staff and owners.
Nothing to dislike
Arriving quite wet after a rainy trip in, on a motorcycle.. the welcome at Aherne's was easily warm enough to dry you out in a moment. We parked the motorbike in her own private archway undercover and went down for the most SUMPTUOUS seafood supper. Setting off for Cobh in the morning we paused to let an American couple take photos of the Wife, sat on our bike (to frighten their children back in the US with the caption "couldn't hire a car, but your Dad found us this!").. then our own departure was a relaxed and happy thing. We would definitely stay here again, and stay longer to explore a bit more of the local atmosphere.
Location v central.Accomadation v comfortable.Dinner was excellent ,everybody we met were helpful .It was a lovely relaxing stay.
Absolutely fantastic night spent here. Lovely people, great history and a really excellent experience on all fronts. In a world of new, fast and easy, the service, food and experience here are second to none anywhere. Thank you for consistency and endurance.
Disappointed in Youghal very shabby ....no tradition irish music Fri or Sat evening
Very friendly nice people working there. Good breakfasts
Impossible to use the sink with either too hot water or only cold. Impossible to mix them together. Very bad outdated shower 🚿. The safe box was not working, the TV was not working , overall the hotel and the room is very outdated. I assume it’s a regular thing in Ireland and especially in a small town like that but for that price (300$ a day), such poor quality of everything is not ok. I hate writing bad reviews, but unfortunately it is how it is.
A real pity to see this landmark guest house fall from grace. While the guest rooms were clean and comfortable, the property is nowhere close to being a 4 star Blue Book guesthouse. Breakfast was fine, with Ann’s homemade brown bread being a highlight; however it was a real pity that the full breakfast was nothing special and the scrambled eggs inedible. Most disappointing was the seafood open sandwich which included some questionable tinned fish and didn’t seem to include any fresh seafood on the plate at all. We were hoping for a much nicer experience but it wasn’t worth €200 bnb so we won’t be back.
The staff were excellent at all times, the food was superb. We were extremely well looked after. Highly recommend this wonderful hotel and restaurant. We will be back.
Breakfast was excellent. Fresh and great flavour. Quality was excellent. Owners were very nice. Very knowledgeable about the area. Told us where to go and how to get there. Highly recommended a stay here.
Nothing
Everything, it was a beautiful relaxing two days that was very special. John, Katie and Ann were very welcoming. The seafood menu made it very difficult to choose from, fantastic food, presented well and beautiful..
Didn't like checking out, wanted to stay longer...
The staff were very friendly and looked after us really well.
The bed linen. I think we have all moved on from blankets ect, also the bathroom towels should all be replaced as they showed signs of wear.
Friendly staff in general.
Major problem was we needed to leave at 7:00 before breakfast but our car was locked in the car park. No staff around to help. It would have helped if someone had told us that before we put our car in the car park. Otherwise we would have left it outside on the street. Eventually the owner arrived at 8am.
Fantastic breakfast choice, quality and service
Family run
A lovely welcoming boutique hotel in a great location
The bedrooms are a bit dated
Fine big room. Food was amazing
Everything! The room was spacious and clean and very comfortable. Great location and the restaurant was lovely too, definitely staying there again
Nothing. Everything was great
Food Very Good
Room dated, needs update
Fabulos staff all very attentive and welcoming. Ambience wonderful and the seafood is just wow.
Lovely food. Staff very attentive. Bed exceptionally comfortable . Guinness was excellent.
Breakfast service was unusual. Waitress taking the orders. Would be better if you could get your own juice, toast and fruit etc. Don't get me wrong, breakfast was exceptional but it's nice to be able to help yourself a bit. It would take a lottle pressure off the waiting staff The hotel could do with a little modernisation.. If this was done, it would be a 5 star .. Would i go back. Absolutely 100%
Stayed one night, receiving a great welcome to 4 motor cyclists enjoying the South-Westerly Irish coast. Secure undercover parking for the bikes, spacious, high quality, clean rooms and first class-food. The evening meal and breakfast were the best we had over our 7 night tour.
Nothing not to like!
Friendly , attentive, interested in their customers. Good food
THE FOOD IS SUPERB
The room was amazing 👏 beds were so comfortable and Johnny the owner was so helpful ...we really enjoyed the stay
I was sorry I didn't order fish in the bar ...it looked amazing 👏
The room was huge and the bed too. Bed was a bit too springy for my liking (that's not a complaint just an observation) Dinner was excellent as was breakfast. My only gripe was that after specifically asking that the bill for dinner be charged to my room the staff allowed my dinner guests to pay. But no problem recommending this hotel for food and accommodation. Friendly helpful staff.
My request that dinner be charged to my room was ignored and I was embarrassed that my friends were allowed to pay
Restaurant was lovely, really delicious food. Good location.
Perhaps the soft furnishings could be updated a bit, I know it’s country manor style but it did feel a little dated. The whole “board” for specials at breakfast and dinner just didn’t work; difficult and unnecessary work for staff to try to cart around the board to each table, would be less awkward to just print out an A4 on the specials of the day.
Large comfortable room with view of the harbour.
Nothing
Location very good Breakfast was excellent very coeliac friendltly
A short overnight break
Nothing to dislike. This is a v nice small family run place.
The breakfast was really first class.
Nothing
The room was outstanding. we had a balcony room, which was wonderful and spacious, easily room for 3 of us. Having the bar attached was amazing. we had dinner at night, which was exceptional, and breakfast in the morning was cooked to perfection. All the staff were extremely helpful and very easy to talk to. Location right in the middle of town was convenient to every where only a 5 minute walking into the centre would certainly go back in a heartbeat.
Hot water in the shower took a while to come through but was very hot when it did.
The breakfast was great. The surroundings lovely. The bedroom spacious and had interesting paintings/pictures. The garden was beautiful and relaxing. The staff were lovely
A fitted sheet on the bed would have been the one improvement we would have liked
The whole experience was disappointing. Over priced and staff unfriendly to the point of rudeness. Rooms and facilities outdated and poorly presented.
No hot water for showers.
