Reviewed Aug 13, 2026We absolutely loved our stay at The Shed. It truly felt like a home away from home. It was beautifully decorated, very comfortable, and had everything we needed. As we had been travelling for almost three weeks, having a washer-dryer was a huge bonus.The Shed is located on a farm, but it is still very easy to find. It was great to wake up to the sound of the chickens in the morning, and we especially loved the adorable calf with a heart-shaped marking on its forehead. :) We may never have the chance to return to New Zealand, but we would warmly recommend The Shed to anyone looking for a peaceful base from which to explore Rotorua and the Waikato region of the North Island. Thank you to our host for creating such a welcoming place!

Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, making it a warm and welcoming place to stay. We were greeted by the resident chooks, “the girls,” who made us smile from the moment we arrived.. A truly relaxing and memorable stay.

I travel constantly and it was nice to have peace and quiet surrounded by countryside, chickens, horses and a couple rabbits running through the paddocks. bed was super comfortable, linen was sooo nice, tonnes of bits and pieces in the kitchen and the water was instantaneously HOT.

Modern, chic, and equipped with everything one would need on holiday - a lot of thought, care and effort has gone into curating this beautiful space! Amber and Donna were fabulous hosts, kind, considerate, prompt with replies, and went above and beyond in more ways than one! We LOVED our stay at The Shed, and can't wait for our next stay!

Felt very luxurious while also very wholesome, everything about the place, the bed, the carpets, was incredibly soft, making you feel very relaxed and at home. The cute little touches of the chicken outside and the cows next door gave the perfect country touches. Will definitely be bringing my partner back!

There was nothing I didn’t like but if they add a box of tissues and paper towels to the kitchen it would probably make a difference as if you have a spill it could save they from using something else to clean up!! But honestly I would definitely stay again! Please thank the owners as they are doing a great job as hosts!!

Would have been nice to have the option of some basic breakfast provisions as several kms from nearest cafes and shops. The synthetic duvet was too warm for this time of year.

The property was beautiful, very comfortable with all the added charm of being in the country- the perfect getaway from the madness of being at a regatta at Lake Karapiro all day!
