I arrived to be told all of the facilities including breakfast (which was included), restaurant and yoga were not available and if I wanted food or drink to order uber eats! I had to cancel the booking and try and find an alternative hotel last minute. I was told as it was off season nothing that was included in the price was to be offered.

Magnifique cadre, les repas du restaurant sont très bons ! Les chambres sont minimalistes épurées, mais bien décorées. J’ai beaucoup aimé observer la famille de macaques qui loge à proximité de l’hôtel. On a passé en général un très bon séjour.

Beaucoup trop d’enfants qui pleurent et hurlent honnêtement ça a un peu brisé notre détente. On s’attendait à un hôtel axé sur la détente et pour adultes et un accueil plus chaleureux. Les chambres ne sont pas très insonorisé de ce fait, on entend beaucoup l’extérieur. De plus, les fenêtres ne sont pas occultées donc la lumière entre le matin, difficile pour dormir un peu.

Die schönste Unterkunft unserer Rundreise! Die Bungalows sind super stilvoll eingerichtet, die gesamte Anlage ist wunderschön und das Team unheimlich nett! Auch die Lage ist ideal, etwas abseits vom Trubel von Ahangama, aber trotzdem sehr zentral sodass man schnell überall ist. Wir haben uns unheimlich wohl gefühlt und würden jederzeit wieder kommen! :)

Lack of shade around the pool, the water always stayed warm and in very hot times we were desperate for colder water to cool off in. I wish the Sri Lankan breakfast was spicier!

The best resort stay I’ve had in a while. Really sweet staff, especially Annabelle. So much to do, great food and drinks.

Everything was perfect. The staff was so sweet, the food was amazing, the vibe was ideal, everything was so beautiful. And they were so so sweet with our baby. Really a home away from home.

The separate bungalows that open out to the pool were excellent and the hotel was set in a quiet location but easily accessible to the town, restaurants and the beach.

The rooms were dirty and needed a deep clean. The hotel is also trying to accommodate to too many types of customers. When we were there people came and used the pool as day guests- including a group of 10 smoking and drinking in the pool. This is meant to be a family hotel and we didn’t want to use the pool with the baby on this day. There are also limited umbrellas so letting people buy a coffee and stay all day using the facilities to the detriment of hotel customers isn’t fair. The travel cot we were given was all marked on the sides. The owner and hotel manager were also very unhelpful, and actually quite rude, when we had issues with our room. All the other staff are wonderful.

The place is beautiful, the staff is great and great israeli food as well.

As families - like our - are welcomed, I can see how couples or people with no kids can be annoyed by kids as villas are close to each other. Also, at our first night, a lot was going on in the pool as we were putting our kids to bed so we could hear everything though it did not disturbed our children to fall asleep. The lights go off late and if surrounding villas don’t turn off their outdoor lights, as we are all facing each other it makes a lot if lights coming through the frodted glass door so many of us put towels nd also a towel on a chair against the door to make the roon darker at night and in the morning. Also, trains start at 6:30 and monkeys were playing early on our roof. Nothing that the resort can do but if you are a light sleeper it’s something to be mindful of. One night the couple at the next villa came back very late and were having a huge and bad fight. People screaming and throwing things. Other people and us went out to see the night manager but he did not knock on their door to make sure everything was ok. We did and glad that everything was fine with them but it woke us up instantly. I feel for the price we did not have as much privacy as other places but kids had a great time and we loved the room. Also, a very big drawback is the breakfast time: nothing being prepared before 8:30. This is late for kids and families. Even for people who want to start their day earlier. Everywhere in the country they start breakfast as early as 6:00 or 6:30. We would have liked more local sri lankan food offer.

Great food — the chef does an excellent job. Beautiful and well-maintained territory, especially the pool and relaxation area. Morning yoga is a lovely bonus. Rooms look exactly like in the photos.

Rooms feel quite basic in reality, and some things creak, which affects comfort. Monkeys can steal items left outside — our swimsuit was taken while drying. Guests are not warned about this and no advice is provided on how to secure belongings. Also, excursions offered by the hotel are more expensive than similar options online and the quality was quite low.

The best stay we had in Sri Lanka! Excellent, spacious rooms with great hot water. The staff is amazing, the pool is fun, and the food is delicious. Great yoga space (with morning classes) and a perfect location for surfers. Highly recommended—we didn't want to leave!

Not the best wi fi , good for couples and families and people that want to chill

I highly recommend this property. It is ideally located just a five-minute tuk-tuk ride from the main town, offering both convenience and tranquility. The pool area is particularly relaxing and peaceful, providing a perfect setting to unwind. The restaurant serves exceptional food of outstanding quality; I would strongly recommend dining here even for those who are not staying at the resort. Additionally, the staff are remarkably friendly, attentive, and accommodating, ensuring a pleasant experience throughout the stay. I will certainly choose to stay here again on my next visit to Sri Lanka

Spacious, green, and peaceful, this place exudes a natural vibe and sounds that create an amazing relaxing experience, both day and night. I’d definitely come back tomorrow.

We really liked being tucked away in nature it was very jungle vibes, watching the monkeys play in the trees and the size of the hotel meant it had a laid back feel. The breakfast was really yummy and well presented and the staff were always super friendly especially with our little boy

The pool filter didn’t work great so it was really murky by the afternoon like you couldn’t see your feet, the pictures of the rooms were made to look really aesthetically pleasing but in reality they felt abit bare and basic. The glass water bottles provided in the restaurant are green at the bottom and you can’t buy bottled water at the hotel so had to go to a shop to stock up. It can get quite noisy especially at night with the train and dog orchestra but I think that’s the same anywhere you stay near the railway.

At first glance, the place makes a very good impression, it’s stylish, well-designed, and clearly marketed effectively. However, of all the hotels and resorts we stayed at during our three-week trip, this was the most expensive while offering the lowest overall quality. It gave us the feeling that maximizing profit was the main priority, rather than delivering real value to guests.

Breakfast starting only at 8:30 and lunch from 1:00 PM doesn’t really suit families with young children. The late breakfast time also led to a bit of a rush, and there weren’t enough tables available—often the only option was to sit in the sun. That said, staff were somewhat flexible if you arrived a little earlier. What stood out most to me, however, was the way the owner treated the staff. While he was consistently polite and professional with guests, I was genuinely uncomfortable witnessing how differently the staff were treated. For me, this is an important factor, and it would make me hesitate to recommend this place. Respect toward staff should be a given.

The location, pool and bungalows were absolutely gorgeous and the food was amazing! What a great team and chef they have, couldn’t be more helpful on our stay! Thank you everyone!

Nothing we loved it all!

Это райское место посреди джунглей, потрясающей красоты сад, бунгало просто невероятное, светлый интерьер, стильная мебель, все красиво обставлено, а главное много мест для хранения. Утром вы просыпаетесь от пения птиц, на территорию приходят милые обезьяны. Уборка на отлично , еда вкусная. И поставила бы я 10 балов , если бы ни одно но…

Сильно разочаровал момент перед выездом. При заезде в отель нам сказали, что в завтрак включено одно блюдо и два напитка , я уточнила точно два, сотрудник отдела сказал, что точно. И мы каждое утро заказывали кофе и смузи, и никто от разу не сказал , что второй напиток платно. Зато ? Пот выезде нам вручили внушительный чек на смузи, и самое смешное , что кофе, которое дешевле , посчитали бесплатно, а смузи, конечно платно, хотя я всегда заказывала смузи и кофе, и оказалось , как я первоначально и подумала, что напиток на выбор один. Такой бы ситуации не произошло, если бы информация была написана , в меню , или где -то еще . Английский у персонала так себе, и еще этот парень, когда я начала раз играться, сказал, обращайся я переведу , типа , что это я с моим плохим английским , что -то не поняла , это вообще неуместно .

Hele mooie appartementen, ruim ingericht en veel opbergruimte. Twee douches tegenover elkaar inclusief buitenbad. Heel fijn voor een familie. Goed restaurant voor zowel ontbijt, lunch als diner. Super vriendelijk personeel. Veel privacy in het appartement door de beplanting er omheen.

Helaas geen zithoek binnen. De temperatuur van het zwembad was erg warm en geen schaduw in het water.

We had such a wonderful stay at Panta Rei; the staff are incredible, the food is amazing and the rooms and facilities are spotlessly clean and so comfortable. This was our first trip away with our 10 month old and the team made it so easy and relaxed for us, the space was perfect for us to chill in and the location allowed us to slowly explore some of the surrounding area. Thank you so much - we will definitely be back!

Nothing, it was amazing.

Schöne Allgemeinanlage. Mit Kindern wäre es wunderbar (wir haben keine). Das Zimmer war in Ordnung und sauber, aber den Preis von 150€ nicht wert. Frühstück war ok aber nicht der Allgemeinstandart der andern Hotels in Sri Lanka. 10 Minutem zu Fuß zum schönen Strand aber von der "Stadt" etwas zu weit weg.

Für uns zu viele Kinder. Preis/Leistung stimmt nicht. Die Bilder versprechen mehr.

Awesome resort experience, great and friendly staff, tasty breakfast and very calming and enjoyable pool.

Hotel is located in a beautiful area, far from the main road and about a 10-minute walk from Kabalana Beach. Houses are stylishly decorated and very clean. It also has a very nice swimming pool and yoga area available all day for guests with mats and accessories. The entire hotel is run in a thoughtful manner, and the staff is very welcoming. The a’la carte breakfasts are a huge plus, lasting until 12:00, so you never have to rush. It could only be served a little earlier than 8:30 if you have early morning activities planned. The delicious fresh, cold coconuts are something we will never forget!

Asthetics of the room.

No view from the room. It did not feel like value for money. The resort itself is quite simple and located far from the main part of the city, so I expected a much calmer and quieter environment. However, there is frequent noise from trains passing by, which takes away from the sense of serenity. There are also many monkeys around the property. Early in the morning I was woken up by the noise they were making on the roof. Considering the high price I paid, the experience was disappointing. In my opinion, it is worth about half the amount charged, as the property is not as posh or luxurious as it claims to be. The food was also quite mediocre, despite being priced on the higher side.

Es war unsere erste Unterkunft in Sri Lanka und das Panta Rei Resort hat die Messlatte für alles was danach kam wirklich sehr hoch gelegt! Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Unser absolutes Highlight: der Pool am Abend unter Sternenhimmel und umgeben von Glühwürmchen und das hervorragende Frühstück! Wir würden jeder Zeit wieder kommen!

Mir fällt wirklich nichts ein. Wenn es etwas gab, scheint es nichts gravierendes gewesen zu sein.

We stayed four nights at Panta Rei and overall had a pleasant stay. The rooms and bathroom were clean and spacious, and the room was cleaned every day, which we appreciated. Breakfast was delicious and served à la carte—we could choose one breakfast and one drink from the menu each morning. The breakfast time was from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., which felt quite late for us, as we are more used to the typical breakfast hours of around 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. There was also a parking space available in front of the hotel, which was convenient.

There were, however, a few downsides. We noticed ants in the room during our stay. The train line is quite close to the resort, so we could hear the frequent trains passing by. On the last night, there was unfortunately a problem with the electricity supply, and we did not have power for some time. In addition, there was a quarrel in the neighborhood with very loud shouting, which disturbed the otherwise calm atmosphere.

Хорошая ухоженная и правильно спланированная территория вдали от дороги и шума, очень уютно, индивидуальные домики без соседей за стенкой, хорошая уборка, удобная кровать и подушки, белоснежное постельное белье, практически нет насекомых, прекрасный дружелюбный и отзывчивый персонал, любые вопросы решались быстро, вкусные завтраки, особенно манго смузи боул, и хороший кофе. Если мы когда-то вновь вернемся в эту часть Шри-Ланки с удовольствием снова остановимся в этом прекрасном отеле.

Бассейн довольно маленький, и мне было не совсем понятно когда и каким способом его чистят и дезинфицируют (вода казалась мутной с песком на дне и у меня это вызывало беспокойство и я не пользовалась им). Рано утром начинает ходить и громко общаться персонал клининга и это не дает утром спать, в некоторые дни было тяжело выспаться (то обезьяны по крыше скачут, то девушки из клининга громко общаются). Еще нужно сделать гидроизоляцию унитаза в домике номер 8, унитаз подтекает и это создает неприятный запах.

Beautiful location outside of the busyness of the main town but still walking distance. The pool and common areas were well designed and the staff made it a wonderful experience all with big smiles and great recommendations for nearby restaurants, surf breaks, massages and activities. A special thanks to Malee and Lakee we will miss you all. And fab yoga classes with Mia !

Stunning hotel - enjoyed an amazing 4 night stay here which was the perfect end to our time in Sri Lanka. Staff are all so welcoming, helpful and go above and beyond - even providing a takeaway breakfast for us on days where activities meant we would miss it. Food and drink is incredible and the hotel grounds and pool are gorgeous. Comfortable and stylish rooms although naturally fairly noisy from monkeys!

La habitación deluxe muy bien, el espacio precioso y muy tranquilo, relajado y ambiente familiar. La zona de la piscina está genial y la zona de restauración está muy bien montada. En cuanto al personal, especialmente Lucky, todo de 10, siempre dispuesto a ayudarte y bastante resolutivo. Necesitábamos una moto y nos consiguió una al momento trayéndola al hotel. De agradecer.

Sinceramente creo que los precios que ofrecen en el restaurante son demasiado elevados, soy consciente de la calidad de la comida, de la presentación y de donde estábamos, pero aun así creo que no eran precios acorde con los precios de la zona, que ya de por sí son más caros. Y también nos aplicaron el 10% de cargo en la cuenta de consumición en el restaurante, lo cual, siendo ya huéspedes, entendemos que está pagado con la estancia.

Super nettes Personal! Alle waren immer zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit! Das Resort liegt nur wenige Minuten vom Strand und einigen lokalen Restaurants entfernt. Die Unterkunft hat einen tollen Jungleflair, man kann sich super entspannen und hat trotzdem alle Möglichkeiten close by. Pluspunkt: Es wurde immer ausreichend Wasser zur Verfügung gestellt.

היינו בפנטה ריי במשך 3 לילות והתמורה הייתה מצוינת! היחס של הצוות היה חם ואדיב מהרגע הראשון. קבלנו קבלת פנים נעימה, שירות מהיר ועזרה בכל בקשה. אהבנו במיוחד שהחדרים נקיים, מרווחים ומאובזרים היטב. ארוחת בוקר עשירה ומגוונת. צוות מקצועי וזמין, תמיד עם חיוך. התחושה הכללית הייתה של תשומת לב לפרטים ורצון אמיתי להעניק חוויית אירוח איכותית. נשמח לחזור לשם שוב!

Es war etwas abschieden und somit schön ruhig. Unser Bungalow war groß und hatte alles was wir benötigen. Wir hatten auch einen kleinen privaten Pool in dem wir uns bei dem heißen Wetter entspannen konnten. Das Essen in der Unterkunft war sehr lecker und das Personal sehr hilfsbereit.

Das Wasser von unserem kleinen privaten Pool lief manchmal beim schwimmen über, dabei konnte dann auch schnell das Schlafzimmer leicht unter Wasser stehen.

Funcionários do bar impecáveis, sempre a sorrir e muito amáveis, 5*. Comida ótima e em quantidade. Pequeno-almoço ótimo e em quantidade (sumo/cafe + prato). Disponíveis para chamar tuktuk ou taxi de/para o aeroporto. Restaurantes perto (20min), dá para ir a pé. Piscina ótima, limpa e sempre calma.

Em 12 dias de estadia, nenhum dos 2 managers foi capaz de nos vir cumprimentar, estando sempre ali ao pé de nós. Apenas falavam aos israelitas. O quarto tem imensa luz, que vem da porta e wc e dificulta o sono. Wc (sanita) sempre com cheiro a esgoto. Hora do pequeno almoço é super tarde (8:30). Nunca repunham o papel higiénico.

Stunning stay. The food was exceptional, and the hospitality from the staff was the best ive experienced on my trip around Sri Lanka. The rooms were beautifully styled, with incredibly comfortable beds. Overall, it’s a truly beautiful, classy place to stay and, when peaceful, wonderfully relaxing.

While Panta Rei itself is a real gem and clearly designed for high end wellness, rest, and relaxation, the presence of loud and disturbing young children significantly detracted from the experience. During the stay there was a screaming toddler, along with two young children repeatedly jumping in and out of the pool and shouting for attention, which shattered the otherwise peaceful atmosphere. This isn’t a fault of the property itself, but the environment would be greatly enhanced if it were adults only. An adults only policy would truly elevate this special place and allow it to fully deliver tranquility and relaxation.

הגענו בשעה הכי לא נוחה שיש (5:00 בבוקר ) ועדיין השומר קיבל אותנו עד שעובדת הקבלה הגיע והתנצלה שאין חדר לפני 12:00 כי יש שם אנשים… הצוות מהמם מהמנקים,מדריכי היוגה והספורט , הבעלים כולם סופר שירותים ! מלון נקי בסביבה טבעית של ירוק ושקט מומלץ בחום!!!

The whole place is immaculately designed and gorgeous, the food was incredible as were the staff. It is suitable for families with kids, or those specifically coming to surf. Our room was very beautiful. We read some reviews with some petty complaints-but didn’t have the same experience. Someone complained about insects in the rooms but if you brainy enough you bring plug-ins to Sri Lanka. Also someone mentioned grumpy owner what I saw was that he was working very hard in the kitchen and also running the place quite a big job, especially to keep up such high standards. If you are looking for an oasis during your time in the south then this is the place.

Not much to dislike, sometimes there was wifi issues but that is expected in Sri Lanka.
