Very welcoming and friendly greeting by staff.
Parking is limited but I secured a space, so all ok.
Nearly everything!
Television difficult to negotiate.
The Location, the Bar and restaurant set up and out side sitting area. The staff it felt like a real effort, everyone was happy and helpful with any questions
Not much .. no lift as we were on top floor but older historic building so to be expected. We thought the room only rate was a little high . And although the wine was good a little overpriced for a glass .. plus side though.. great bar staff .. TV reception very poor so check with reception to see if it’s set up correctly..
Location, staff, room, bar. All top notch.
The whole thing. Stayed many times.
Nothing.
Excellent food happy staff overall nice hotel
Great food super staff and overall nice place to stay
Food was good, tv in room didn’t work and the room was absolutely roasting. Staff were helpful.
The hotel is lovely and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is really good as well.
I did speak to management and they were very apologetic, but our room was nearly 30C at night - this wasn't because of a heatwave, we were next to the kitchen extraction which kicked in around 5.50am and was very noisy and right outside our window. A fan was provided but it was inadequate, there wasn't anywhere to move us to as the hotel was fully booked. Also we were staying with our dog and he got so hot in the night I had to wet one of the hotel towels and lay it on him to cool him down. Everything else about our room was lovely, comfy bed, great shower and lovely tea and coffee facilities.
Great location to Stroud. Fab breakfast. Friendly staff.
Early morning deliveries of food and beer barrels. Very noisy.
Great location, clean, good bar
Breakfast was very good. Location was ideal for midway point in the Cotswolds.
Room was too hot despite weather being cool. A fan was available but blowing throughout the night was not comfortable.
A hotel with character, right opposite the station, so convenient for exploring the town centre. Friendly and helpful staff.
Near train station
Drain didn’t work in sink or shower. No fan. Had to give a lot of personal information for the WiFi and it still didn’t work very well
Locality suited our day trips to the Cotswold and surrounding areas. There was no need to venture to multiple establishments for breakfast or dinner as the hotel had an exceptional restaurant menu.
If I was to mention one item it would be that there is no air conditioning available in the room, however, not a show stopper from my perspective.
A very good selection of cereals and cooked breakfast
All good
Room was comfortable, nice bath.
Very noisy - events each night.
Excellent location and all the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The beds were very comfortable and the location excellent to walk into town. We will definitely be returning.
Excellent service, comfortable room and bed, great breakfast
ZERO complaints
Friendly staff, comfortabel beds
The staff were very friendly and helpful. I had dinner in the hotel once and the food was really delicious. The hotel offers different food and drinks deals on different days throughout the week which are great value. Having a coffee machine in the rooms is a real bonus and not found everywhere. Replen of coffee pods, milk and cookies each day was a really lovely touch.
This is a very noisy hotel. There is a Weatherspoons beer garden next door which has very loud people and very loud music until late every night. Early every morning there was also something very noisy, I stayed for four nights and two mornings the bin men came right outside the hotel at 7am and at 5:30am-7am one morning, I assume it was for the Weatherspoons next door, men were loading and unloading keg barrels which was very noisy and so early. As it is an old building, you can also hear people in their rooms: walking on creaky floorboards; every time they run water/flush the toilet. Due to the noise, I would unfortunately not return; I didn't find it particularly peaceful. Also, the bed seemed to be two singles pushed together? This meant I could constantly feel a gap in the middle which wasn't very comfortable to sleep on. I therefore stuck to one side which felt like sleeping in a single.
Very good location, opposite train station in centre of town. Good value for single occupancy of double room Nice modern room with all the facilities expected. Staff friendly and polite.
Didn't have breakfast. It looked good but i thought a bit pricey at £20.
we paid for a deluxe room - early indication having 2 x fans on in the room when we arrived was perhaps a 'red flag'. The evening meal in the hotel was fine but the room was so hot, it must have been close to 40 degrees so we spent the whole night awake due to the heat - by far the worst hotel room we've ever stayed in.
Staff were very helpful and friendly making the stay easy.
Bed was little soft for my liking but I do prefer a firm mattress for my back.
A relaxed stay. Staff were very accommodating and friendly.
On one of the hottest days of the year could have done with an ice cold air con system. I'm sure the rest of the year would be fine though.
The staff were friendly and welcoming, the food was full of flavour and the room was very clean with everything that you need for your stay.
The only thing would be the heat which cant be helped in the summer weather. They done what they could with the fans provided :-)
Great hotel, nice and central, full of character, great staff, good food, excellent service. Would stay again!
Staff were excellent. Really accommodating and hospitable. Good value for money
No air in during heat wave but can’t be helped.
Location close to train station if you’re arriving by train. Outside area for drinks or meals.
Our room was on the 3rd floor and never cooled down overnight even with a fan. The window could only be opened a small amount. The carpets need to be vacuum cleaned.
Air conditioning was poor
Nice building and beautifull rooms.Outside terrace
Room right above noisy airconditioning
Excellent location and condition of hotel. Nice clean and comfortable room.
Visited when temperatures were in high 20’s and room was very well insulated for winter conditions. Room was too hot to sleep in as it didn’t have a fan or a window that could open more than 15cm.
Great breakfast and comfortable beds.
4 stars for the property
Lot of noise from the vents between 07.00 until around 23.00 I was in room 10
Love the hotel and location, friendly staff very helpful
There was no hypoallergenic bedding in the hotel but staff were helpful and arranged it on the day
Situation dans le centre de Stroud et à proximité de la gare de trains. Très bon accueil.
Coût assez élevé.
Room was spacious, modern and very clean. Lots of hanging space and a fantastic shower
Breakfist v good and staff very helpful
Temp in the room require sorting out in warm weather .Very difficult to sleep.lack
Staff were very good that's about it
Room smaller than the name suggests (not a junior suite just a room with en suite) noisy outside late at night and kitchen delivery 6am. Non existent parking room sweltering hot
Nice place. Clean and comfortable
Next to the kitchen extractor so room 24 smells of chips
The staff were excellent, great customer service and the manager, Mike, was very friendly, helpful, and professional. The food and drinks were very good! Location lovely.
It is a bit dated, could use an update.
Right in the middle of Stroud town. Had a nice pub garden.
The view from our room
The location was great - right in the centre of Stroud. They have a good system of pantries on the floors with bedrooms so you can get tea and milk and some essential toiletry items. The young people who serviced our rooms were very helpful with a great attitude.
The room was adequate but couldn’t be called spacious, and it was dark, with one small window. The view was at the back of the hotel with a large, humming metal construct just to one side of the window so there was nothing pleasant to look at. The corridor we used to get to the room was unbearably hot. They did provide a fan for the room which we kept on constantly so that helped. The receptionist who greeted us was unsmiling and not particularly helpful, although other staff were much better. The walk-in showers were very good but have been designed with shower screens that are far too small so the bathroom mat/ floor gets soaked.
Proximity to station
Staff attitude on arrival was dismissive, defensive and unfriendly. At 77 years sent to hot top floor up 2 flights with no alternative considered. Boiling hot inside corridors, on stairs, in room. Inadequate cooling, two stand up coolers with limited power. Would have been better with a small strong circular fan. Windows inoperable due to safety catches. Unable to sleep due to heat. Disinclined to call for help as staff mentioned.
Didn't have breakfast
All good
Location
No air con. Lack of essentials. Not very clean.
Location, friendly staff, nice decor.
No air con, fans didn't work well so too hot in the room during the heatwave.
Nice room with big bed,
little tired, the room was horrendously hot, fans not up to the job and on a hot day they had opened windows and curtains, bathroom was also boiling hot
Excellent Location - Fantastic Staff - at reception and bar.
Carpets in the high traffic area starting to look a bit grubby - some doors - fir door partitions and walls next to where one pushes to open them looked like they could do with a clean to remove build up of hand marks from extensive use.
Great location. Very clean. Friendly staff.
Nice decor but very basic for the cost. No fridges in rooms… bottles of tap water provided in the ‘pantry’ were room temp. Gave the breakfast a miss as £25 is extortionate when you’re already paying £150 + a night for a very basic room. Only 6 parking spaces for the hotel but very easy to park in the station car park which is reasonable but yet another cost addition to an already expensive stay. Shame as it is nice place but you’re paying for location rather than quality unfortunately. Would not recommend sole based on that.
Character
No air con
Lovely location and the pub area was great. The staff were really friendly.
Our room was very dark as you couldn’t open the curtains as we were overlooked and the windows weren’t opaque. There was no fridge which was a pain as it was hot weather and we couldn’t keep our water cool. It was all very basic and not that great.
Very helpful staff, pleasant rooms.

Lovely setting, great atmosphere, spacious rooms in a stunning building and wonderful food.
Nothing
Fantastic place the staff were so friendly and helpful. The rom was just right and the bar and restaurant was very good and nice food. The full English breakfast was superb.
Everything was great.
The location, the bar and restaurant. The ambience.
We didn't have air-conditioning in our room.
Great location and friendly staff
No complaints. Exactly as advertised
Good location and friendly staff! Exactly as advertised!
No complaints
The bar, restaurant and beer garden space was nice enough.
The car park wasn’t big enough for all guests. And then was no reimbursement for guests who needed to park in the station car park at a rate of £11 for 2+days Early check in request wasn’t recorded, nor was the additional charge communicated when request. It took an hour to sort the room, and then it was £10 an hour. The room was comfortable enough, but a little tired and dusty. It was also very hot, and whilst a fan was provided in room, it did little to cool the room. Note it was a hot summers day. The pantry room offering bottled and chilled water isn’t what I expect from a hotel charging £250 per night.
Location, good toiletries
Noisy, a bit scruffy pictures definitely flatter it
Drinking Water in bedroom
Excellent room, comfortable bed, friendly and reactive staff. Parking on site. Town very close. Quiet room.
Staff were friendly and made us feel very special Rooms were clean and stylish, modern without losing the feel of the hotel
No air con and noise levels at night
Beautiful building next to rail station, spacious rooms, helpful staff.
Rattling windows at night.
Lovely rooms with comfortable beds and nice big bathrooms. Beautifully clean. Really friendly staff. Great breakfast, served promptly.
The windows don’t open properly - not good when there’s no air con. We were woken before 6 a.m. by the unloading of a beer barrels in front of the station. This went on very noisily for over an hour. Not sure how often this happens.
Central location. Great cooked breakfast, service was excellent from Josh. Hotel room was very clean and comfortable.
Nothing I didn’t like
Quite classy We loved the paintings on the first floor Who did them ..? Can you let us know?
No air conditioning but not a massive problem
Location.bar and restaurant area were very pleasant and staff were helpful and friendly
Stairs were dirty Fan in room inadequate No fan in public areas No tissues or drawers in bedroom. Only one bin and was not in bathroom Only one hand towel for two people Only one toilet roll Room extremely hot and airless-unbeatable in the heat.Hotel managers should have provided more and better fans TV did not get News or World Cup football because App was not working-we presume management had not renewed subscription so unable to watch normal terrestrial tv in our hot stuffy room Breakfast very poor quality with food bought from cash’’ carry or that’s how it felt ; not cooked properly-hash browns not cooked, croissant hard, mushroom swimming in grease, horrible cheap sausage, baked beans flavoured with some kind of vinegar, only one very weak tea bag in pot of tea which was too weak and grey to drink, milk had bits in it-£33 for an inedible breakfast Clearly not cooked by a chef but just a ‘local’ non-professional serving with cutlery arriving. Separate from food and the almost thrown into table-knife handed with blade pointing to customer instead of handle. Clearly no training in hospitality skills and lets down the 3* notation of the hotel-very unprofessional
The Hotel was a nice compact establishment that has everything one needed. The weather was so nice and added to the harmony of the Hotel's central location and just a few feet from the train station. Ideal for tourists visiting the Cotswalds.
TV was complicated to manage. However weather was hardly condussive to watching TV in ones room.
The room was quiet. Bed was comfortable. Nice bed linen
Tacky decor. Dirty main staircase. Bedroom had a strange smell. Fortunately I got used to the smell after a few minutes. Room was dusty. As a single woman, I did not feel secure. Very few staff about and lots of non residents using the bar and restaurant.Staff were a bit offhand. Had to pay additional car-parking as the small car park was full.
Great ambiance, service and comfy bed with nice bedding I a convenient location
The kitchen fans were left on through the night for 1st 2 nights which was noisy, but I hen we were in a budget room close by. 3rd night was better when they were off
Lovely staff, everyone was so welcoming and accommodating. Large rooms, everything that might be needed (toothpaste, extra tea bags, sewing kit...) can be got from the pantry. Large and comfy bed. Location in the city centre Good breakfast
£20 per person for breakfast is a bit much I would say, but the full English was really good.
Good location near the railway station but no train noise.
Great location, clean and convenient. Loved the ‘pantry’ where you could help yourself to cold water, some basic toiletries, etc.
The room we had was quite small. The shower cubicle was also very small and the amenities were placed in a corner on the floor. A simple rack installed against the wall will make things a lot easier. There was nowhere to hang our towels either and again this is simply remedied with hooks or a towel rail installed behind the door or against a wall. I did give this feedback to one of the staff members. These are minor things and didn’t affect our stay, but one would think these are simple enough to do.
Excellent
Maybe another chair in the room
Clean and comfortable environment and friendly staff
Nothing
L’emplacement, la propreté, le personnel
Rien
Everything about our stay was fantastic.
Very handily placed right next to the main line station, the hotel had everything I needed exceeding my expectations.
Nothing - although I didn’t stay for an expensive breakfast!
Good location and tasty breakfast
No tea bags in the room or pantry in the am, blocked sink. Window broken so quite stuffy in the room.
Good location - the staff were superb - nothing was too much trouble
Noisy rear room by the extractor system!
Great food, comfy bed... fan in room and curtains closed kept the room cool during the heatwave. Thank you.
- comfy room with comfy bed - everything very clean - pub food and drinks were good
- nothing!
Friendly staff, clean, tidy
I arrived at 14:40 very strict on check in time
Great convenient location. The hotel is situated right next to the train station which is pretty much in the town centre. Very hospitable, friendly and helpful staff. The hotel restaurant / pub has a very nice ambience with live music on Sundays. And the food is very good. Overall it’s a good hotel.
A couple of things would be good to improve are: The lighting in our room. I don’t know if it’s the same in the other rooms. There are bedside lights but you can’t turn them on individually. When you switch on the bedside lights. Both sides and the bright strip light above the headboard have to come on too. So you basically can’t have a small light on by your side of the bed without waking up the person you’re sharing the room with. Also our room’s sash window doesn’t stay up when you open it. It felt like perhaps the weights were missing. And some hooks in the bathroom would be good too. There’s nowhere to hang things. The lighting in the small restaurant nook could be nicer. Dimmer wall sconces would create a better atmosphere for the dining experience instead of the overhead lights.
Location was good as a base for exploring Cotswolds
Cleanliness in room was minimal as was public areas
Excellent location right beside the train station which made it very convenient for those without a car. Friendly staff, room was clean and tidy,
Room can get hot and stuffy during summer as room has no air conditioner,
