We enjoyed the whole experience
The breakfast was good
Superb location. Oldworld charm of building. Friendly staff
Low water pressure
Great character hotel/Inn Fantastic staff.. friendly attentive and welcoming
The reception, bar and restaurant staff were very friendly.
The outside of the property was a building site and part of the sign had fallen off. Inside bore no resemblance to the photos on this website. Our bedroom was tiny, the bed was awful and there was no soap for the bathroom. For dinner I ordered tuna and ratatouille and was given tuna with lettuce, potatoes and beetroot! Breakfast was meagre and overcooked.
Vriendelijke aardige eigenaars, en personeel. Gezellige pub en restaurant. En een prachtige locatie . Midden in de natuur. Geweldig uitzicht. Heerlijk wandelen.
Beautiful location, spacious bedroom, comfy bed, wonderful view
Toilet flush not working!
Great location with good access to all places in the Cotswolds and right by the wonderful common where the cows and horses roam free during the summer. Lovely old building, lovely beer garden around the property. Breakfast was well presented and very tasty. Good choice of items with the full English. Tea & coffee making facilities in the room. Pleasant and helpful staff, thank you to the lovely Jennifer in the dining room, who was very attentive at breakfast! Dog friendly!
Room a bit dated, but clean and tidy. Dining room was quite small and felt a bit overcrowded when all the tables were in use at breakfast.
The pub is set in lovely rural surroundings with beautiful walks on the doorstep .
Sadly we were so disappointed the room was filthy dirty, mould on pillows, Dirty smelly carpets and bathroom floor. No soap or hand wash in the bathroom. Cannot stand in the bath to have a shower as it has a sloping roof.
Location was excellent, lovely views. Lovely buildings. Pub was very good and very clean. Staff were really nice. Breakfast was excellent. Shop nearby in the church was really nice.
There was nowhere to hang clothes in the bedroom or the bathroom. As there was not room for a wardrobe some hooks on the walls and doors would be very useful to hang clothes on. Every thing else was very good.
Very friendly staff
Disappointing stay. The staff were very nice, friendly, and welcoming, which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, there were several issues with the property and room that made our stay disappointing. The property does not have proper stair-free access, and my parents had to climb two flights of stairs with heavy luggage to reach the room. This was not mentioned anywhere in the hotel description, which would have been important information to know in advance. The room was also not properly cleaned. There were hairs everywhere, including on the bed sheets and pillow covers, which made us question whether the room had been cleaned properly after the previous guests. The rooms were very basic, and no fans were provided. The suite became extremely hot and uncomfortable, particularly at night. Overall, while the staff were friendly and helpful, the cleanliness, accessibility, and lack of basic amenities made this a disappointing stay.
The shower wasnt ideal, had to hold the shower above your head to use it
Staff friendly, great location, clean and comfortable room and breakfast was excellent
Showers are on an old fashioned mixer so needs patience and skill
Place was out dated one one the lady's serving at breakfast u would ask her for something and she go of and do something else
Our room was absolutely lovely, with a spacious bathroom, a bathtub and a window overlooking the garden. The staff were wonderful and very friendly. The location is peaceful and very convenient for exploring the Cotswolds, with excellent value for money. The hotel has a pub, and we had dinner in the garden, which was a fantastic experience. There is also free parking. The breakfast was very good, with a hot continental option. Highly recommended!
Location. Comfortable. Breakfast.
A little bit tired/worn out furniture.
Location
Not the property’s fault but we always miss breakfast😂
Friendly staff, easy to find
Room needs updating
Das Personal war sehr freundlich und das Essen sehr gut . Auch die Lage hat uns sehr gut gefallen
Sehr warm nachts und das Zimmer u Bad etwas in die Jahre gekommen
The location and people were very friendly and helpful.
That I couldn’t have for breakfast although it was stated on the breakfast menu.
Loved the view and the bedroom, comfortable bed and bedding, great staff and brilliant breakfast, quiet room slept well.
Felt like the bathroom needed updating and would prepare a walk in shower.

Good location
Renovations taking place which we weren’t aware of. Also room needs a proper shower.
The location gives spectacular view over the valley, the room was spacious and comfortable. The building is being refurbished We were quickly offered a much better room when we turned down the original one offered. Nice garden and sitting out area
We were originally offered a room in a building at the back of the property overlooking the garden. It was at the top of a steep fight of stairs and was much in need of updating. We ordered a meal and our order seemed to have been forgotten at we waited a long time for it to arrive and had to remind a staff member. The car park wasn't attached to the hotel but on the other side of the road. Some parking on an adjacent road.
Everything. Staff were amazing, kind, approachable, helpful. Hotel is how it should be, old but characteristic. Area beautiful.
Nothing
Area around the premises is lovely and from what we could see the main building was very nice the staff are friendly and helpful and did offer to move us to another room in the main building but unfortunatly we cannot sleep in a double bed .
Annex is filthy ,although bathroom and beds are clean and comfortable the corridors and carpet in the room were very dirty. The top floor has narrow stairs and are definately not suitable unless you are totally fit and mobile. Unfortunately this is where the twin beds are located.although they offered us a room in the main building due to the fact they only had double beds ,we had no choice but to leave a day early as we could not manage the narrow stairs or accept the condition of the annex as a whole.
One night stop over. The food that we ordered in the evening was very reasonably priced and it was delicious. We don't drink alcohol but the bar was seemingly well stocked and well staffed. Breakfast was full of tasty options. Staff were really really nice and professional. Everything was clean and kept clean. The room was quiet and secure with everything provided. The bed, bedding (including enough pillows) was perfect. Room temperature was perfect. The bathroom was a nice size. Sink water was slow and bath water normal pressure. There's also an adjustable hand shower. Freeview TV is there but we didn't really use it because we had Netflix/Amazon (well that was the plan). The room comes with WiFi and knowing how bad TV is these days we planned our later evening around our own entertainment!?
WiFi worked for a couple of minutes on one of our iPhones and not on the other. No network connection visible on our laptop. We've had this issue with several places claiming to offer WiFi in rooms or on-site when infact it's non-existent or so slow as to be useless. As the scout leader said, "be prepared" and make sure you have enough data and hotspot from your mobile phone to your other devices and avoid disappointment.
Lovely old coaching in, friendly, accommodating staff. Room was small but had everything we needed. Breakfast was amazing, huge and our dog was allowed to come with us. Cows grazing randomly on the common land surrounding the pub.
Some renovations going but didn't interfere with our stay at all but the huge skip out from did spoil the ambience a little.
The location is wonderful for a quiet few days dog walking. The staff are very accommodating making our visit all the more memorable.
Having to go home after only two nights
Beautiful Country hotel and restaurant in an amazing location.
The suite we had was clean roomy and quaint. It just needs a bit of TLC which i think the hotel is planning.
Comfortable beds, friendly staff, good breakfast and an excellent location.
Friendly staff nice food drinks a bit pricey apart from that overall good
Nothing
Great location
Nothing to dislike
Comprehensive breakfast served with a smile.
Tv reception pathetic
Ambience good. Dinner good. Great views. Very accommodating for dogs.
Breakfast mediocre. Smallish portion served tepid. Coffee not the best both after dinner and at breakfast.
Breakfast was very good
Cleanliness of the room; very tired and aspects like skirting boards, sockets and doors were very dirty.
Great location. Very nice breakfast (one of the best I have had for a while) all the staff are very friendly. Outside area is perfect for a summer’s evening.
Water in my shower did not work and had to have a bath, which made me late. Building work being done so wet paint and unfinished areas. But will be great when it’s finished
Location and clean fresh towels and linen.
Food warmed up, even chips! No where to hang clothes in bedroom.
The location was great and the beer garden was lovely and shaded.
The room was in poor condition and the bathroom was very tiny. Bed uncomfortable but pillows were great. The channel charger batteries had no cover. The stool for dressing table was very tatty. We were told that there would be an EV charger but there wasn’t one. Luckily we had enough charge to get us to the next charger. It could have been difficult for us.
Great location and beautiful scenery.
Room was very dated and hot. Shower didn’t work. They stopped serving food earlier than advertised so we were starving. Could have done with a fan in the room. Generally quite a bit disappointed for the cost of the room.
A lovely pub which is going through a lot of renovation which incidentally did not hinder our stay & it sits in a beautiful quiet location.
Not a negative but our room although nicely decorated & clean it clearly is in need of some updating & probably is on the list of jobs to do but as we weren’t able to see the other rooms it’s hard to make a comparison.
The hotel was a lovely building in a beautiful setting. The rooms were basic, clean and comfortable. It had a good bar and breakfast was good too.
We gave up waiting for our evening meal and went to an Indian restaurant in Nailsworth.
Stunning location and building.
No jacuzzi in the room.
Lovely character building, with some modernisation being done . Our bed was comfortable n pillows lovely. Best I've slept on for long time. Staff friendly. Good rural location.
Now bring picky! Choice of summer salad would be nice in the menu.. as it been especially hot for last couple of weeks.
Fantastic Inn. Great breakfast selection and as much eats and drinks you wished for. Friendly staff. Lovely community village. Worth a visit to the church cafe.
We would have liked to stay longer to experience the evening meals and facilities.
The breakfast was fantastic. The staff were great.
The plumbing in the en-suite bathroom was terrible. The water pressure was so low it would have taken an hour to run a decent bath.
Lovely location. Friendly helpful staff.
Such a lovely place, proper hidden gem. Staff very friendly and the rooms very comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was outstanding, lovely local produce and plenty of it.
No complaints.
The location ambience and staff , very friendly and welcoming.
Menu could be better
It's a beautiful building with gorgeous architecture and character. The staff were unobtrusive but kind and helpful.
My room was in a cottage at the back with very steep and narrow stairs to my room in the attic. If you have any mobility issues, check where the room is. Those stairs are not for the faint of heart! My TV only seemed to receive world cup football but no matter. The bed was comfortable and that was what I needed. Did I say anything to staff to allow for any rectification? No. It would have meant tackling those stairs again...
Quiet location, excellent food and friendly staff.Noth
Nothing
Location was nice
The staff at breakfast time were very pleasant. One of the bar staff was polite and pleasant to us on arrival.
The reception/ manager was surly, unhelpful, and extremely unwelcoming. Our room was at the top of two flights of very steep and narrow stairs, in a cottage at the back of the pub. I thought we would be staying in the pub but we were allocated this room which was entirely unsuitable for two older people and a very elderly assistance dog. The pub was full so we could not move. Moreover, there was no fire exit from this top floor room, only the steep and narrow staircase that were a trouble for us all to get up and down. I thought it unsafe and was very glad to leave.
Everything the staff were excellent and caring easy to get on with. They even managed to sort out a meal for us even though fully booked. Would definitely stay here again
Room 5 If i am to be picky there was no electric socket on one side of the bed to plug anything into as I need to use a cpap machine at night.
Not much. The food was average. The staff was friendly and helpful. Nice garden patio but only picnic tables to sit at. Not a chair to be found.
It’s misrepresentation online- the pictures are much better than the actual property. Small rooms, horrible room access, expensive for what we got.
Good
NA
Comfortable and cosy
They are undergoing updates which the staff managed as best they could, but breakfast took a while etc
The location was lovely and quiet and set in beautiful countryside. The Inn was traditional, lovely and clean. The room was comfortable, the food and bar lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was very good value for money. I would definitely recommend the Amberley Inn.
Nothing
Lovely place with stunning views over the valley. Rooms were spacious & comfortable. Ours had a four poster bed. Food was excellent catering to various dietary needs. Plenty of choice for the gluten-free.Dogs were also welcome. Will definitely staying at The Amberley Inn again.
The main entrance stepped out onto a main road which many motorists seemed to ignore speed limit. Shame on them in such a beautiful village
The location and inn were amazing. Lovely area of the country. Great food and beer. Very helpful staff.
Long delays for food. It didn't bother us, as we were enjoying ourselves so much, but others may be bothered by that.
The location was lovely & the room was clean bedding & wash facilities clean
The food was not the best but stopped me from being hungry, Loved the beers.
It was easy to access parking was good. Room is spacious and clean.
The staircase was very narrow, the key holder so big and noisy.
Very pleasant friendly staff with good food.
The friendly, welcoming, polite , informative staff and owners. The breakfast was exceptional, very good locally sourced produce
We liked everything
Very friendly staff. Lovely building with great views. Breakfast was first class. Plenty of choice. And very well cooked.
Lovely property, with a fabulous view. Room was cosy and quiet. Breakfast very tasty.
Everything from the staff to the excellent food, they have one of the best gluten free menus I have ever seen, staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much.
Nothing
Very clean and really excellent food.
Bed was a little uneven but comfy pillows
It’s a beautiful building in a lovely location. Good views from the room. The staff were friendly and helpful and we had an evening meal with friends there which was nice enough. Parking opposite was convenient and the breakfast was good.
Beautiful building but very tired. It needs a lot of investment and work to be as nice on the inside as on the outside. Our initial room was shockingly bad, a suite with garden view. Sounds good. But sadly, far from good. It was damp, musty, cold, dark etc Room 20. Went to reception and the Manager very willingly changed our room straight away to family suite room 10. We appreciated that. It was much better. A great size, warm, lovely view and very comfortable. A big improvement. The tap was strange, water flow low & it was difficult to flush the toilet. But otherwise certainly comfortable and warm enough.
Country side
Being woke up early by the builders but was took to another room but would stay again
Great staff! Great food! And a great location! Couldn't ask for any more
The character and the community feel of the pub. The new owners are doing some great activities and when we went they were hosting a wine walk so the pub was full of local people. The food was good and nothing was too much trouble for the owners who went out of their way to look after us.It was lovely to stay in such a lovely location in a pub with real character and charm and not bland as so many places can be.
The bathroom in our room does need updating and re- configuring but this is a big expensive job. A small inexpensive improvement would be just changing the sink taps so they are longer over the sink and easier to use.
When we arrived, there was a 80s party going on with the music booming through our bedroom floor. The following night, there was a function which we knew nothing about, with loud music yet again!! We had to change our plans and dine somewhere else. And as for breakfast, I didn’t get cooked breakfast on our last morning. Very disappointing. The location was lovely but the ambience was ruined!
great
na
Brilliant breakfast and service
Its position and old world charm.
Two steep staircases up to our bedroom.
Breakfast was superb. Perfectly cooked using local produce. The buffet menu was also good and the woman looking after us was friendly and attentive. Evening meals the same, good choice , tasty and varied. Great little bar expertly looked after by Zane on our first night and Ben on second. We had 2 dogs with us who were allowed in 2 bars,so they were happy.
The hotel has recently changed hands, so some elements are still being progressed, with outside construction going on. We were in room 2, where there were a couple of fixable issues, which I'm sure are on to-do list. Flush in toilet takes an age to fill and windows need replacing, although I'm guessing property is listed, so not so easy. I loved the overall vibe of the place, would certainly return and wish them every success.
Absolutely loved our stay. Warm welcome, large comfortable room with stunning view. Exceptional breakfast-very friendly staff
Nothing
Comfortable stay with good food in a lovely, stone village
Sehr gemütlich, sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter, ein super Frühstück
Friendly staff and great breakfast
Shower was poor
Fabulous
Great location
Sympathiek personeel.
Er mankeert nogal wat aan het gebouw, en het sanitair.
Worth coming for the breakfast alone!
It is set in a beautiful location. The bed and room were comfortable. The food was wonderful. Staff were very friendly.
The rooms are in need of some updating, though clean and comfortable. Work is underway on this.
I wouldn’t know. The door was locked. The key to get in didn’t work and the memory of staff working the night wouldn’t answer the phone.
The key given to me didn’t open the main door so couldn’t get in to the property after the wedding I attended. The night staff didn’t answer the phone so I had to get an inner back to Bristol. I phoned to get a refund and I have been promised call backs from the owners which I haven’t had and when I had a call from a receptionist enquiring about the key I had him tell me I was “petty” and I needed to “fucking grow up” as he hung up the phone.
The staff were friendly and pleasant, the rooms were dated and the bathrooms definitely could do with attention, but we did notice that there were renovations taking place. Hopefully if we were to return again we would get the benefit of these renovations.
Breakfast was cold on 2 occasions, out of an 3 night stay, although a great choice on the menu. I realise we were a larger party of 8 so possibly some plates were left whilst the others were being dished up.
Beautiful area. Lovely room. Large bathroom. Dog friendly. Gorgeous garden roast dinner 6 veg. Great location for our on route from Devon to Yorkshire and our stop at Cirencester. Very friendly staff. Easy book in/ out. Breakfast was high quality and plenty of it. Nice touch with bottled waters.
Not enough tea bags and milk. Could have done with 4 milks not 2.
Location, and the lady bringing out our breakfast was very nice and accommodating.
Room 24 was very tatty, never even had a shower screen or curtain Just a bath Very outdated. Our room was actually in an outhouse 3 story flat at the back of the hotel.
The room was nice however the walls were thin and I could hear the bathroom fan and the person snoring next door!
The breakfast was out of everything and they served me something inedible I had to leave. When I had dinner in the evening the table wasn’t cleaned and the service was poor.
Charming place, very helpful staff.
Found the bed very soft and uncomfortable, also the shower was low in pressure.
Love the historical inn, the large comfy room with great view, the very friendly staff, very dog friendly, great food at a nice price and a great selection of ales. Definitely will come again.
School run perents seem to have become cheeky by using the inns carpark at school pick up and drop off times. Not a problem as plenty of space alone the road so could move car to carpark after they have gone but probably best to time arrival before or after school pick up time.
Great stay, beautiful location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bedroom was comfortable and clean. We slept well and had a good breakfast.
