Casa Sofi Oaxaca

Close to great food and drink, to Centro, yet quiet and pleasantly relaxing. The host was very helpful with great recommendations, and helped us arrange taxis and amenities when needed. The interior was contemporary, beautiful, but pragmatic as well. I will stay here again when back in Oaxaca.

La casa es súper tranquila para descansar después de caminar por todo Oaxaca. La ubicación es excelente porque está en el centro, llegas fácil y no necesitas auto. Llegamos en la temporada de la Guelaguetza, estaba lleno de ferias y actividades como la calenda y desfiles. Nuestro anfitrión Gerardo fue súper atento, dándonos consejos sobre los lugares para conocer y comer. En la casa tienes acceso a la cocina compartida con todo para un desayuno ligero o un refrigerio, lo que fue muy útil cuando ibas en familia.

Que el estacionamiento más cercano está a varias calles. No es apto para personas con movilidad reducida; por lo demás, todo perfecto.

La atención del gerente. Gerardo es muy atento y servicial en todo momento. Es lo más destacable del hotel. Que es una mezcla con RB&B y hotel. Futuros huéspedes avisen a Gerardo antes de su llegada. No tienen este lugar ningún tipo de señalización y la zona es muy conflictiva, por la falta de espacios para estacionarse y la cantidad de tráfico.

Problemas con el llenado de agua del WC.

Desde nuestra llegada nos sentimos muy bien recibidos. Honestamente es un excelente lugar, sus instalaciones y ubicación son muy recomendables. y su anfitrión nos trató de maravilla.

Close to Zocolo Square, large rooms with comfortable beds, hot showers, fabulous shared kitchen. It feels like you’re living in someone’s home and Geraldo was the perfect host. He arranged tours, taxis, gave great advice on things to do, speaks great English and was always available on What’s App. The house is immaculate, secure and truly a great find.

A rua é bem movomentada, porém os quartos são no fundo. Não é bem hotel, durante o dia não fica ninguém no local.

We had such an amazing time at Casa Sofi! It’s the optimal place to explore Oaxaca city - the location is fantastic, and the place is so pretty and special, clean and comfortable. Gerardo, the host, was incredibly kind and welcoming. He took the time to explain everything about the apartment, the neighborhood, and even shared some local history. He also gave us excellent recommendations and was always available to help and we actually used it. He helped us plan our trip, gave advice about the weather and tours (and even offered to book them for us), and arranged a taxi to the airport that arrived right on time and at a very reasonable price. We loved the place so much that we added 2 more nights. (Luckily the room was available)

This is the beautifully updated interior of an historic house close to the Zocalo and a few blocks' walk to the lovely barrios of Xochimilco and Jalatlaco. Geraldo, the host, was always available during our one-week stay, and very helpful in arranging tours and taxis. There is a kitchen for guests, and complimentary coffee and tea. A great place to stay while visiting Oaxaca, and we would happily return.

The bathroom could use some shelves and more places to hang towels.

Great place, the location is perfect as everything is walking distance. The room was squeaky clean and the host always helpful and eager to provide the best service. The shared kitchen area is a great addition to the place as gives the flexibility to prepare your own meals.

There was a sunlight window in the ceiling that you can’t do much about, it woke us up very early most days.

Fabulous location, everything in walking distance. Lovely old building and beautiful, spacious rooms. Nice to have a common kitchen facilities plus lobby and outdoor seating.

The apartments are extremely clean, modern, and well cared for. And our host made sure to do everything he could to help our stay in Oaxaca be amazing. We would definitely return on our next trip to Oaxaca.

The location is unbeatable: right in the center of town, within easy walking distance of countless attractions, shops, and some incredible dining options. Each room has been thoughtfully renovated—spacious, impeccably clean, and beautifully appointed—while still showcasing historic architectural features that give the place its unique character. Our host, Gerardo, was exceptional from the moment we arrived.

There were stairs going up to the bathroom from the bedroom in the room we stayed in which could be a problem for some. For us it wasn't a problem at all.

We experienced exceptional hospitality from before we arrived, to after we left; Gerardo is a true professional! The room and the common areas were spacious, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. We appreciated that it was a bit tucked away, yet close to everything we wanted to walk to.

Casa Sofi felt like a true home in Oaxaca! The staff were unbelievably warm and generous, even helping me with pesos for a taxi when my flight was cancelled. The historic building is stunning and impeccably clean, and I loved having access to the communal kitchen and common spaces. The location was perfect, walkable everywhere with a lively market just steps away.

My only small drawback was that the mattress topper in my room wasn’t very comfortable. Other than that, my stay was genuinely wonderful and there wasn’t much I would change.

Quiet, comfortable and a great location. Our host was friendly and helpful. It is a historic house with just 4 suites. It has a small kitchen with a refrigerator if you want to fix a cup of coffee and have yogurt in the morning or share a pizza. Highly recommend.

De lokatie is perfect, de inrichting en de sfeer in de accommodatie is erg mooi. En de host, Gerardo is heel vriendelijk en heel behulpzaam. Het is niet echt een hotel, het heeft bijvoorbeeld geen receptie en maar 5 mooie kamers, dus een heerlijke privé lokatie alsof het je eigen huis is!

De douche ziet er mooi uit maar de druk van het water is erg laag, Gerardo had ons dit al gezegd, dus het was prima. De eerste nacht was zaterdag en hoorde we harde muziek in onze kamer, de andere avonden was dat er niet. Prima te doen met oordoppen.

Well designed, luminous spaces, airy. Historic building with tasteful modern interior and nice lighting. Easy walk to Zócalo / market / Santo Domingo / buses to Monte Albán, Teotitlan del Valle and other places of interest out of town (Javier Mina, 51 is the address for this bus agency and it's good) / Jalatlaco. A few steps from the Basilica of Nuestra Señora de la Soledad, shops, restaurants. Pleasant. Pretty. Comfortable. Very clean. Nice personnel. It is smaller than I had expected, just a few rooms, and I liked this atmosphere.

These aren't dislikes, just considerations. You may or may not like being so near the tourist walking district in central Oaxaca, with the related gentrification. There aren't personnel on site 24/7, although they're always available by text. Coffee and water are provided, and there's a lovely kitchen to use, but there isn't breakfast. These aren't criticisms, though, they're just things to know. I liked it and would like to stay there again.

Amazing location and the building itself is a listen one and very tastefully decorated! Stay was spacious, comfortable and clean with all basic amenities you’d need. There is a also a basic shared kitchen. Gerardo was the best host and very communicative.

We had such an amazing stay at Casa Sofi. Gerardo is a very warm and accommodating host and made us feel at home from the time we entered. It is a very unique and beautiful place, and the staff work hard to keep it extremely clean. Would love to stay at Casa Sofi again if we come back to Oaxaca!

Beautiful property and wonderful host! Highly recommend Casa Sofi for anyone looking for a minimalist design, conveniently located on the edge of the historic center. (Don't miss the ice cream plaza below the adjacent church.) We loved the spacious room, king sized bed and high ceilings, as well as the little shared spaces throughout, including the shared kitchen that was perfect for morning coffee. We'd definitely stay here again.

La casa es cómoda, segura y bien ubicada. El anfitrión amable y pendiente. Nos ayudó con todo.

La habitación está muy limpia y comoda, la decoración de toda la casa es muy elegante, el anfitrión siempre estuvo pendiente, nos hizo recomendaciones de donde tomar tour, el mismo hizo las reservas y nos pasaron a buscar hasta la puerta del hotel, no nos preocupamos de nada. La ubicación está excelente, caminando está muy cerca de todos los lugares de interés.

This is a beautifully renovated old Oaxaca home with internal courtyard and all the amenities. Just note that the kitchen is shared, and there are not coffee/tea capabilities in the rooms. It was gorgeous inside, though very incognito outside. AC and hot water excellent, the host very helpful and communicative, bed comfortable. Also the towels smelled fabulous and I appreciated having 2 black makeup towels.

The wifi was a bit too weak for me to do videoconference calls which I needed to do for work, but I could hold the calls without video.

Highly recommend staying at Casa Sofi for your trip to Oaxaca. Excellent host that greeted us with the best tasting Mezcal. The room is very comfortable and the property is centrally located to everything. The grounds itself is very clean and safe. There is a communal kitchen that has everything to prepare a meal or store your leftovers in the refrigerator. Can’t wait to go back.

MUST STAY! If available, don't wait, book it. We spent 6 day days in Oaxaca at Casa Sofi and had a phenomenal experience. The hotel is conveniently located and walkable to all of the City Centro sights and culture, in addition to being spotlessly clean, artistically designed with all of the modern comforts, and the communication with the hotel staff (Gerardo) was seamless in both English and Spanish. We were also travelling with a toddler, and Casa Sofi had a brand new crib available for our use which made travelling that much easier. 10/10 would recommend!

The place was really well located, with a great mix of a private space and shared spaces. It was really great to have the option of a full kitchen too. The room itself was really well fitted out, and was nice and comfortable to come back to after a long day of exploring. Gerardo was super helpful too, providing advice on things to do, and places to eat. They also helped me out with taxis which made my life a lot easier. It's not a lie to say that I've already decided I'm just going back there when I'm next in Oaxaca.

The location was perfectly situated near all the main attractions, making it incredibly convenient. The room was both spacious and cozy, and we felt right at home from the moment we arrived. Great venue in a historical house yet renovated, extremely clean and nicely decorated, very comfy beds. Only has a few beds, so had a bit of a homey feel to it. The host was very nice and offered a Mezcal upon our arrival.

Nice original house of Oaxaca, with only a few rooms, in a good location, quite as my room the not face the street. High ceiling room, spacious as well as the badrook. There is shared kitchen and a small living room with table games. The host was very responsive.

To go out of the hotel, you need the key. It would have been good to have more space to put our things, eg a small table to put luggage.

It was beautiful and Gerardo the host was so kind and helpful. He was preceding our every needs, booking us taxis recommending restaurants etc. He also made us taste some mezcal that we ended up buying it was so good! The room was amazing big and super clean. It had everything you needed. I would love to go back and will if I can.

Gerardo was amazing! The house is absolutely stunning. Everything was top notch and very comfortable. The location was incredible for walking around the city. There are four rooftop bars less than a block away.

Great location. Central but also quiet. Nice decor and common areas. Liked having the shared kitchen area and good coffee. Host Gerardo is very attentive. Safety concern that you need you key to exit. If there was an emergency, it could be deadly. Also tiny complaint, there is a plastic sheet under the sheet which makes it crinkle and a not cool. But over all enjoyed very much.
