Location was excellent .So convenient to town ,shopping centre, Bowling and Theatre.and coffee shops etc . Our hosts Raymond and Emma definitely the best ,and went over and above our expectations.So helpful.in every sense, .Great on local history and advice about what we should see" Simply the Best"

They went over and beyond even when we didn't need extra towels they dropped them off! Everything you need for a very pleasant stay is on site. We even forgot some clothes and they posted them to us.

We had a wonderful 4 night stay in this beautiful accommodation. It is so comfortable. The location was perfect and our hosts were so friendly and helpful. The private outside space was lovely and with the hot weather we had, our Aussie visitors felt right at home as we could sit out every evening. We would definately recommend this property and hope to return in the future. The most relaxing break I have had in a long time. Thank you x

5 Star stay at Hillcrest. The accommodation was absolutely beautiful and so clean. Plenty of space for the 7 of us. The hosts were exceptional, even going above and beyond by organising transport for us to the wedding we were visiting for. I could not recommend this place more. The town is perfect with lots of places to eat and drink and the locals were so welcoming. It was a fantastic stay x

Raymond and Emma are amazing people. Not only were they extremely helpful at every step, even when we wanted groceries they drove us and helped us buy and brought us back and showed us around. Aside from that the property itself is amazing and located well within the town close to everything and has all the facilities.

Like a lot of previous reviews the Hillcrest totally lived up to our expectations. This is a beautiful home finished to a very high standard. Emma and Raymond must and should be very proud of the standard they have accomplished with this property. The situation of the house could not be better a nice downward stroll to the lovely town of Castleblayney with everything needed in town on hand and some very good restaurants and cafes .The house is immaculate and bedrooms and living areas are all decorated with great decoration and not just a plain old room, in fact more boutique style.The bathrooms are no let down either ,they are also of a very high standard and exceptionally clean.an added bonus is the lovely gardens well tended to and it is lovely to have the private and enclosed courtyard garden to to rear of the house.We met Raymond who was an exceptional host and unfortunately did not meet Emma but as we all know at the back of every man is a great woman .We certainly hope to return on another occasion to the lovely Hillcrest and wish Emma & Raymond continued success with their lovely holiday home going forward, Regards and many thanks Ian & Aisling.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Hillcrest! This beautifully appointed 4-bedroom bungalow is just a short stroll from Castleblayney town centre yet feels wonderfully peaceful. The moment we arrived, we were struck by how spotless and tastefully decorated every room is. The house boasts two cosy sitting rooms—ideal for relaxing after a day of exploring—and a superbly well-equipped kitchen. We loved gathering in the spacious dining room for meals and games. The complimentary Irish fruit loaf was such a lovely, heartfelt touch (and delicious!). Each bedroom was exceptionally comfortable, and both bathrooms featured powerful, invigorating showers. The enclosed courtyard became our favourite spot to soak up the sunshine during the mini heatwave—it truly is a sun trap! But what really set our stay apart were our hosts, Raymond and Emma. Their warm welcome and attentiveness made us feel like treasured guests from the very first moment. Raymond even treated us to a private tour of Big Tom’s hometown—an unforgettable experience for my granddad, a lifelong fan. Leaving The Hillcrest was bittersweet. It’s not just a stunning property—it’s a testament to the genuine care and passion Raymond and Emma pour into every detail.

There was nothing that I didn't like.

Everything location facilities, hosts checked in to make sure all was OK and if we needed anything. We had a special request for a specific chair for my elderly mother and they got it. Had tea and coffee available for us and a few treats which was a nice touch, reasonably priced and lovely decor

We loved everything about this house. Home away from home. So close to all amenities. So clean and cosy and hosts were very friendly and helpful with any questions we had.

That we couldn't stay longer

The accommodation was wonderful. Everything was clean and sparkling. There was a slight hiccup with the Internet connection, which Emma resolved very quickly. Both Emma and Raymond were friendly and offered to help if we had any problems.

The house has been finished to a 5* standard & everything that you would need for a home away from home experience is on hand. It was a very comfortable and relaxing house. Hosts were very good communicators & gave us directions / advice & were just a phone call away if we had any questions. Will definitely be back.

The Hillcrest is an amazing property. Lots of space and in a really good location. It's easy to see that the property is well looked after. If you're having and doubts about booking here - cast those doubts away, and book! You won't be disappointed.

The hot water stopped working on one of the days. That being said, the owners fixed it very promptly and were very apologetic, so it didn't ruin the experience at all.

Absolutely loved our stay. On arrival in the evening the lights and the heat was on which provided a warm and cozy welcome. The addition of some food staples and a bottle of wine was most unexpected and a lovely surprise. Thanks so much for a lovely weekend, we will definitely be back.

We had a fantastic stay in The Hillcrest. The hosts were amazing, checking in on us to see if we needed anything. The house itself is beautiful. The beds were so comfortable, and the place was spotlessly clean. The location was amazing. We were able to walk into town for a bite to eat. The hosts also gave us great recommendations for activities and restaurants during our stay. I would highly recommend this accommodation.

The property from the outside was lovely and then the minute you walk into the house it’s very warm and welcoming , the hosts are lovely checked in on us to see if we were okay and needed anything . I honestly loved this place I would highly recommend it! It fairly local to the town and black island .

Stayed at the Hillcrest on a business trip, everything was excellent. The house was clean, comfortable, modern with lovely decor. Raymond arranged airport transport for me which made the trip so easy for me. WiFi and facilities were very suitable for business purposes. Loved the coffee machine. I will certainly book again.

The house itself was beautiful and was central to the town.

The host and the reception we received from him was negative from the beginning all throughout our stay. Upon arrival we told him we had a negotiation between two families and he addressed his concerns and requested a deposit of €400, which we gave with no issues. After that he kept coming to the accommodation every few hours and was hovering over our guests making them feel very uncomfortable. He kept checking the CCTV and cameras and monitored the house all throughout our stay, calling us at all sorts of hours telling us that he could see us and that there were people that weren’t too be there. We explained that the people who were there during the day would leave and would help us clean up to ensure we left it in the same standard we found it in as the next day no one would be at the house as everyone would be attending my wedding engagement celebrations. We then notified him that it went against policy and the law to be checking on us on the camera at his own disposal as there was no security issues/ concer posed, however he continued calling us till the hours of 3am as he closely monitored us. This made me and my guests feel very uncomfortable and unsafe. After checkout we made sure to leave the house to a very high and clean standard and he came and self inspected every single room and even suggested that “if I knew you were going to clean it I wouldn’t of got the cleaners to come in”. My aunty then advised that he needed to ensure his incoming guests had fresh clean bedding. That same day I called him to ask if he was happy with the house and asked him if there was anything broken or stolen and he replied “no there’s nothing broken, but my cleaner will have to do a thorough inspection”. Further to this he requested that I leave a 10/10 review then he would reimburse my money, which I refused because firstly I am not obliged to give a false review nor was that our agreement. Mind you all of this was happening the day before my wedding celebrations.

The Hillcrest is a Luxury house in an excellent location, the house was comfortable and clean and was perfect for our stay, we really appreciated the extra little touches. We loved the art work and the overall style of the house. We highly recommend the Hillcrest.

Emma and Raymond welcomed us to Hillcrest with us arriving late evening, with welcome pack.The property was absolutely beautiful. The decor and attention to detail was exceptional. Every room was individually styled.Outside there was a private space for dining.The fact that there was two sitting rooms and TV’s in all bedrooms meant there was always space for everyone to enjoy their evenings.It’s location is so central that you are within easy reach if the town and a short drive from the motorways and attractions. Ample parking outside the property too. We felt that it was a definitely a five star experience .

We had the most wonderful stay in The Hillcrest. The house is finished to an exceptionally high standard. As a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 pre teens, 10 and 13) we had more than enough space. The house is within walking distance to the town and Lough Muckno which is beautiful. And at the weekend the little truck at the lake serves gorgeous Mexican food. Best meal of the weekend!! The Hillcrest house is a home away from home. With everything you need....from beautiful comfortable bed linen to fluffy towels. Superb WiFi and an extra little sitting room that our kids got great use from. From extra books for visitors to some basics to get the weekend started the hosts have thought of everything. It's a perfect stop between Dublin and Northern Ireland and will look forward to booking it again as a luxury few nights before we do our upcoming trip of Northern Ireland.

The location is great. In the middle of town and a 5 min walk to the pub! The place is beautiful inside. Highly recommended. Great host.

the house is very huge, the kitchen is great, two living rooms plus 4 big rooms. Such a well renovated house which was modernised perfectly. amazing warm new big house. the host met us and showed around and met us during check out too, we kept in touch via messages for great town recommendations, all of us were happy with our stay.
