The Other Corner Habarana

The property itself is huge and beautiful. Some members of the staff are naturalists and can take you on a night walk tour of the property grounds, which was extraordinary! We say lots of geckos in their prime, a brown fish owl, and a porcupine. A huge shout-out to the restaurant manager for his delicious meals and generosity of spirit... such kindness! The room was huge, comfortable, and felt like a home away from home. There's also a relaxing pool (which was a delightful surprise), and the property leads to a gorgeous lake. The nice, professional managers helped me arrange trips to nearby Buddhist sites, and made me feel truly at home. Overall, this is a spectacular place to stay. Don't hesitate to book!

Honestly, everything was perfect... actually, better than perfect. The only hardship of my visit was the heat, but the hotel was an oasis, with air conditioning and a pool.

The quarters are in a lovely natural area with plenty of interesting plants and wildlife to spot. Nice pool. Excellent Sri Lankan food at the onsite restaurant. Staff were really friendly and very attentive. The on-site night safari was excellent. Located near Lion Rock and Dambulla as well as other cultural sites.

Nothing - all good.

A recommander

Everything was perfect from start to finish. The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and caring. They took us on a boat ride and fishing experience, which made our stay extra special. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was peaceful. We truly felt welcomed. We would definitely come back!

An excellent location with beautiful surroundings amongst trees, shrubs and jungle all around. We stayed in a lovely individual wooden chalet with separate shower and jacuzzi. Butterflies, birds monkeys, giant squirrels. Fantastic bird song and lulled to sleep by sounds of cicadas and frogs. Choice of various interesting trips direct from location. Night safari for amazing animals including Loris, owls, jungle cats, wild boar. Staff excellent and everyone so smiley and charming. Wonderful welcome ceremony on arrival. Access over swing bridge…also used by monkeys. Nearby, good elephant safaris, Dambulla Cave Temple and Sigirya.

Nothing

The cabin was very comfortable and perfect for a family of four (after management agreed to add a 3rd rollaway bed). The location is perfect for walking sojourns and short drives to other places. It’s even close to town if you want a good coffee. The naturalist at TOC is incredibly knowledgeable and points out things we would never have noticed. Food was excellent both at dinner and breakfast. The pool and fish foot spa were a really nice added touch after a warm day. A special place.

We paid a different rate than both of the other families we were traveling with. We are all residents of Sri Lanka. Our rate was not too much more, but it was more, and the other families’ rates included half board (breakfast and dinner) and a complimentary activity (e.g. lake cruise). It did not detract from us thoroughly enjoying our stay, but it make a bad taste in my mouth. When I booked on booking.com, booking.com asked the ages of our kids. We entered 14 and 16. The day before our arrival, the manager called to say that our kids are not considered kids and we would be charged more. That’s all fine, if it was stated from when we made the booking in advance. To have the terms of our booking changed less than 24 hours before arrival was disappointing. The misunderstanding about what age constitutes children is a communication problem between booking.com and TOC. The manager insisted that I did something wrong with the booking. It doesn’t feel good to be told “you did something wrong”, when we were transparent about our children’s ages. Perhaps some of the interaction on the phone was language-based misunderstanding and cultural, but our stay would have been perfect had Faizal said, “Oh, you all work together and live in Colombo. What don’t we give you the rate your travel companions are getting (adjusted for a family of four).” Even though our stay wasn’t perfect, it was close.

Staff were friendly, polite and extremely helpful.

The pool was not cleaned therefore we couldn't use it at all. While the quality of food was fair, we thought it was severely overpriced.

Place, food and staff

Just pool

Great staff, warm welcome en really good breakfrast. Centrally located to visit several hotspots. Great night safari experience

Swimmingpool water quality.

Rien

Great jungle setting with good birdwatching, friendly staff and clean comfortable rooms. Pool was very nice. Short tuk tuk ride from the town.

Initial confusion over the room booking, but this was sorted out satisfactorily

Very nice location, very friendly and helpful staff members, fantastic dinner, very good breakfast. We enjoyed our stay very much.

The rooms should have television set so that the guest don't feel bored during night. We got scammed by the Safari ride arranged by the hotel management. We were informed that the ride should last for 3-4 hours but was only for 2 hours plus We barely saw any animals. Only few elephants , 2 peacocks and few birds. Once we reach the hotel we realise that the Safari ride was the to Minneriya National park but instead they took us to kawudulla eco park Information was given by one of the Hotel guest

Don't scam the guest
