Personal war sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich. Zimmer sehr geräumig und Betten sind sehr bequem. Frühstück war sehr gut und umfangreich.

Lage und Pool hat nicht unseren Erwartungen entsprochen. Die Bilder haben uns einen größeren Pool versprochen. Wir haben nicht die Unterkunft bekommen die wir bei der Buchung erwartet haben. Im Outdoor Badezimmer war kein Insektenschutz vorhanden.

We cannot praise Shashika and Athula enough for creating a little piece of heaven in Habarana. Yes, the rooms are amazing, the facilities carefully designed by an architect, and you feel like you are living inside the forest, but without their relentless effort and hospitality the place would not be what it is. We've traveled around the island and this is by far the best breakfast you will ever have. Everything is freshly prepared - you will always get a giant fruit bowl, followed by a main course that changes every day (pancakes, french toast, traditional sri lankan cuisine ...). I highyl recommend this hotel.

Het personeel is echt super! Heel aardig en behulpzaam. Accommodatie is echt heel mooi en ruim. Je hebt echt het gevoel alsof je midden in jungle zit, terwijl je op loopafstand van het centrum bent. Ontbijt is erg goed! Zwembad is niet groot, maar schoon en heerlijk om af te koelen.

Enige kleine minpuntje voor onze dochter was dat het opklapbed echt een dun matras heeft, en zij heeft dus wat minder comfortabel geslapen. Maar dit is echt te verwaarlozen bij alle pluspunten!!

Très contents de cette villa qui nous a permis de loger en famille grâce aux chambres communicantes. La petite piscine était super, largement suffisante pour se rafraichir. On a adoré se sentir plongés dans la jungle et observer la faune depuis la belle terrasse : plein de singes super drôles, des petits écureuils adorables, plein d'oiseaux, une mangouste... C'était fantastique. Et les chambres sont très confortables. Les PDJ sont très copieux, avec des spécialités Sri lankaises différentes chaque jour.

Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr bemüht! Shashika war für jede Frage die wir hatten für uns da. Er hat sich sogar sehr liebevoll um unsere Kinder gekümmert. Es wurden unsere Ausflüge organisiert und das Frühstück ist einfach Klasse. Jeden Tag bekamen wir was anderes und es war seeeeehr lecker. Wir kommen aufjedenfall irgendwann wieder!

The location of this place is superb, just on the edge of Habarana, set in a small patch of forest, with monkeys, birds and other wildlife all around. Although only a minute from the main road, it feels like you are immersed in nature. The accommodation is essentially a tree house with a plunge pool below it - best appreciated in the morning to avoid the mosquitoes.

It felt a bit more home-stay than hotel. There is no reception as such - you are met in the dining shelter down the track from the road. Only breakfast is available so for dinner we walked only 5 minutes to the wonderful “Chill and Swing” restaurant (highly recommended, amazing food and atmosphere). It isn’t really true that it has room service - it has a couple of menu cards for local restaurants that will deliver. There are no proper curtains through the morning light filtered through the trees didn’t wake us too early. The air conditioning struggled to lower the temperature and the fan in the room was noisy and temperamental so one of us found it hard to sleep. It was all perfectly clean but basic. Including hand-soap next to the sinks would be an easy improvement to make.

Great breakfast and service, stuff was very friendly. We loved the villa which had 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms and a nice kitchen, and a private pond. Great jungle stay

The road to the property is something to improve

If you’re looking for a truly unique experience in Habarana, this is the place to be. From the very beginning, everything exceeded our expectations. Aruna, the owner, went above and beyond by personally picking us up from the airport and driving us all the way to the property—a journey of around six hours. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the incredibly friendly staff, Sanjay and Shashika, who made sure every detail of our stay was perfect. We mentioned our allergies in advance, and they took great care to prepare food that was completely allergy-free—everything was fresh, beautifully made, and absolutely delicious. The property itself is stunning and unlike anywhere we’ve stayed before. One of the highlights was the open-air bathroom, where you might even find monkeys popping by to say hello while you get ready for the day—an unforgettable experience! I had planned to propose to my girlfriend during our stay, and the team truly made it magical. They suggested an even better location than the one I had in mind, and later that evening surprised us with a private, romantic dinner under the trees—it couldn’t have been more perfect. We were also shown around the local sights by the wonderful Sarat, who made the experience even more special by inviting us to his family home. There, he gave us a cinnamon-making demonstration and shared fascinating insights into the local history and wildlife. On our final day, Aruna and Shashika presented us with a beautiful moonstone gift and a framed photo of us from the proposal—such a thoughtful and touching gesture that left us genuinely overwhelmed. Leaving Hornbill was bittersweet, as we truly felt like we had found a second family in Sri Lanka. This is an experience we will cherish forever. Thank you all for such an unforgettable stay.

Wat een toplocatie midden in het regenwoud. Ook de medewerkers waren superaardig. We hebben een hele fijne ervaring gehad en missen deze plek nu al!

Absolute Traum Unterkunft! Wir waren hier für 2 Nächte mit unseren Kindern (2+4) Ab der ersten Sekunde fühlten wir uns absolut wohl! Das Personal ist eine 12/10! Einfach überragend! So herzlich, unfassbar! Unsere kleine „Ferienwohnung“ war auch ein absoluter Traum! Die offene Dusche mit freier Sicht auf den Dschungel und die Affen morgens war ein absolutes Highlight! Dann noch der kleine Pool dazu, perfekt!

Passt auf eure Sachen am Pool und auf der Terrasse auf! Die Affen finden es witzig, diese in den Bäumen zu verteilen, wenn man mal nicht da ist! 🙂

Очень приветливые менеджеры каждое утро сервировали прекрасный завтрак на улице, каждый день из 4х что-то новенькое предлагали. Номера - на втором этаже, в каждом домике по два номера, большой и маленький, мы бронировали большой, но из-за накладки персонала два дня прожили в маленьком. Все в окружении деревьев, рядом пруд с лягушками. И Спасибо милым бурундучкам, который в течение дня приходили на балкон и подъедали хлебные крошки и сладкие булочки. Продукты мы покупали в местном "супермаркете", до которого минут 10 пешком вдоль дороги. Напротив него отделение банка с выгодным курсом обмена валюты. Вообще Хабарана расположена на перекрестке дорог, отсюда можно за час-полтора доехать до древних столиц Шри-Ланки Аннурадхапуры, Поллонарувы, совсем рядом крепость Сигирия и пещерный храм Дамбулла, поэтому и был выбран этот город для проживания. А отель из-за большой кухни, на которой есть все, что нужно, даже СВЧ. Интернет - дали листовку с логином и паролем, но ничего не заработало. Хорошо, что нашли под кроватью роутер, на котором было название и пароль). Пару раз все пропадало, по вотсаппу связывались с менеджером и он удаленно перезагружал сеть. В большом номере есть рабочий стол и табуретки, вдвоем разместились вполне удобно. В маленько нет ничего. Uber вызвать здесь проблема, поэтому в первый день договорились с водителем джипа (здесь рядом два национальных парка - Миннерия и второй не помню названия), который нас три дня и возил по крепостям и развалинам. До Коломбо 3,5 часа езды, если что. При бронировании обязательно берите большой номер с кухней, в маленьком жить можно, но только очень аскетично. Нет телевизора, но нам он и не нужен был.

Душ и туалет расположены так, что душевая почти под открытым небом, и в дождь полотенце на сушилке мокнет.

Die Unterkunft war mitten im Dschungel! Es war wirklich wunderschön und das Hotelzimmer war sehr sauber. Es gab auch reichlich Frühstück und das Personal war super lieb. Wir sind traurig, dass wir gehen mussten, können die Unterkunft nur weiter empfehlen :)

When we arrived in the pouring rain, our first thought was that the place might be overpriced. However, after staying for two nights, we completely changed our minds and realized how unique this hotel is. ​You are living right in the heart of the jungle, surrounded by lush greenery and nature, yet the house itself is very comfortable. The mattresses were exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. The staff was very helpful and arranged for us safari ride very quickly!:) ​Breakfast is simple, but the fresh papaya juice was absolutely divine. A special highlight was the chipmunks that visited our terrace every day—it added a wonderful charm and a true sense of connection with nature. Due to the weather, we didn't get a chance to use the pool, but I imagine it would be refreshing on a hot day. Highly recommended for nature lovers!"

Eine wunderbare kleine Anlage mit vier Zimmern/Wohneinheiten in zwei erhöht gebauten Bungalows. Der Blick von der Terasse geht über einen Teich inmitten zahlreicher Bäume. Dort tummeln sich die Affen, Palmhörnchen und sogar der namensgebende Hornbill taucht mal auf. Obwohl nur etwa hundert Meter von der Hauptstrasse weg, fühlt man sich mitten in der Natur. Das lokale Frühstück ist ausgezeichnet! Abendessen konnte Shashika, der ausserordentlich hilfsbereite Manager zwar nicht anbieten, in Gehdistanz liegt aber eine Vielzahl von unterschiedlichen Restaurants. Das Zimmer sind hell, geräumig und sauber, Badezimmer und Duche grosszügig und modern. Die Küche mit Kühlschrank und bereitgestelltem Tee/Kaffee war eine angenehme Ergänzung für uns als Familie. Wir haben fünf unvergessliche Tage im Hornbill Forest verbracht und würden jederzeit gerne wiederkommen!

Lovely welcome, simple check in, spotless well appointed villa. It had everything you needed, loved the big veranda, ability to sit outside on the veranda or the seating area downstairs. Pool was lovely, had a swim in the mornings and evenings after a full day out. Breakfast was amazing, so many options and freshly made and prepared - we said it was more like a breakfast and lunch than just a breakfast. The team were so helpful, when we went out for a swim they would put the jucuzzi jets on ! We loved our tree house stay, so unique - open air shower, comfortable beds and cute kitchenette. We would love to have stayed longer three nights there were just not enough.

Purtroppo ci è stato raccomandato un driver inaffidabile che è stato poco trasparente su prezzo e alla fine ci ha chiesto molto di più del prezzo stabilito. Ardendo organizzato la struttura questo trasporto ci siamo fidati. Per i trasporti vi suggerisco di fare da soli. Pick me funziona benissimo!

We literally had a hornbill perched in the tree outside our balcony when we checked in to our room... loved that it's close enough to town but nestled inside a lush green jungle. The shower brings the outdoors in without creepy crawlies getting in your way in the room. Excellent balance of jungle and key modern necessities. Great breakfast and incredibly attentive staff. Clean and neat. Fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of nature. Close to Minneriya.

The only issue was loud music from a faraway establishment, but there is absolutely nothing the managers could do about it. This comes with the territory...

Great location, just down a small track, very quiet but short walking distance to restaurants and shops. Feels like in the middle of the jungle as the Villa looks out onto the forest. Lots of amazing wildlife, including hornbill birds, and frogs. Beds very comfortable, a great Villa with a kitchen (although we didn’t use it for cooking). The added benefit of a plunge pool was great. Breakfast amazing, two options of Sri Lankan or continental, we had both which were very tasty. Stayed for 3 nights and they added different variations each time. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble and they were always smiling and happy to help with booking excursions and making recommendations. Great value for money. We would highly recommend Hornbill!

Nuestra estancia en Hornbill Forest Habarana fue extraordinaria, el hotel se encuentra en un enclave único en medio del bosque, pero con fácil acceso desde la carretera, por lo que está rodeado de naturaleza y totalmente integrado en el entorno, gracias en gran parte, al magnífico diseño en madera del edificio, que encaja perfectamente con el emplazamiento. El alojamiento donde nos quedamos contaba con una terraza, una habitación muy espaciosa, una cocina muy completa, un precioso baño con ducha abierta, y, para rematar el conjunto, una piscina privada, que puedo asegurar fue una maravilla poder disfrutarla en ese entorno tan especial. El personal, especialmente Shasika, no pudieron ser más amables y atentos, además de facilitarnos cualquier servicio adicional que les planteásemos con las mejores condiciones y, por su puesto, siempre con una sonrisa. El desayuno era espectacular, estaba muy rico y era muy abundante y variado. En caso de volver a Habarana, no dudaría en alojarme nuevamente en este excepcional hotel, todo un acierto.

It was beautiful and clean! Loved the three house

Loved sleeping in a tree house, set back from the road, so it was quiet and felt secluded. Loved the pool, it was deep, cool, relaxing and just what we needed after our safari. Loved breakfast, so much delicious food! Loved the service. The staff provided everything we needed, with a smile.

I had an amazing experience during my stay at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. They were friendly, professional, and always ready to help with a smile truly exceptional The entire villa was spotless. You can really tell that cleanliness is a top priority here my room, the common areas, and even the smallest details were all impeccably maintained. Highly recommended for anyone looking for comfort, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I will definitely be returning

The staff were very nice and helpful, especially Mr. Shashi the manger, they will go above the beyond to make sure you are comfortable. The room is nice and clean, and the location is in the middle of the jangel, so you are around trees.

Because you are in the middle of the jungle, there are alot of insects.

I loved the incredible feeling of being high up in the trees. I loved the little swimming pool. I loved the butterflies, birds, Sri Lankan Palm Squirrels, and the monkeys. I loved the breakfast too. I liked that local restaurants will deliver.

Superb staff, superb location

We liked the location , it was quiet

The place is really not like in the photos, and certainly not very comfy. The „jacuzzi” is cold,and as the place is in the woods, there is no sun so it doesn’t make any sense to use it. They do not have any pillows for the lounge chairs- saying thisis their „concept” - I am an interior designer and I can tell you, screw the concept if it is useless. After pushing they organised two mattresses for us butthat’s only after talking to the owner, the employees didn’t care. One room had big windows with see through curtains so everyone could see you sleeping from outside- absolutely terrible,not to mention no way to make the room dark. Just useless design really. And on top of it, very strong mold smell:/ Breakfast was not great either. The owner talked to me on the phone and I will admit that he tried to be helpful and address the issues and that’s why I am not giving this place one star. But let me give you a piece of advice- this place will not work unless you run it yourself as your employees are not doing their job well.

Located in the middle of a small forest with immediate contact to wildlife. Great breakfast and fantastic service!

There was a single member of staff (Thusara) who tried very hard in spite of hardly speaking a word of English, and having clearly had no training. Rooms were situated in the heart of the forest which made for some good views of local birdlife. Nice plunge-pool outside the room, though we couldn't work out how to turn the jacuzzi on. Later in the evening it came on without us doing anything.

At the time of booking this was the second most expensive option available on Booking.com in Harbarana. The owner was away for our entire stay. The Booking.com information listed 'restaurant', 'spa and wellness centre' and 'outdoor pool' - none of which existed. The kitchen was provided, so you can self-cater but there was nowhere to eat it as there was no dining table or chairs. There was nowhere to sit comfortably in the room. Outside chair provision had no cushions. Nowhere to put suitcases. Room lighting was inadequate. No bathing towels provided. We checked out after two nights, and went to the Other Corner which was far more comfortable at a much lower price. We spoke to the owner by phone and he promised to arrive back on the evening of our second night but didnt show, so we ended up paying full rate for the two nights we stayed in spite of being very unhappy. He also promised to drive us on a tour to Polonnaruwa on the day after we left as a gesture of goodwill but yet again cancelled on us an hour before we were due to leave. With his WhatsApp message making this cancellation he said he would phone me that afternoon. It's a week later and I have yet to hear my phone ring from him. All of this was massively time-consuming and very upsetting in the middle of an otherwise spectacular and heartwarming trip around the beautiful island that is Sri Lanka.

We were a family with two children. The Hornbill is an otherworldly experience inside the jungle. So you can't expect to go there and not find a few bugs, especially with bathrooms open to the exterior. Shashika, who manages the place is extremely attentive to your needs. He made our stay more than exceptional. One of our daughters turned 4 during our stay and he organized a birthday cake for her. At that age, that was more important for her than seeing elephants, so thank you Shashika! We felt at home at Hornbill. We stayed 3 nights but could have stayed more. The room is spacious and we had a small kitchen which is very useful with the kids. The breakfast was very good too. I highly recommend going there and it's a perfect place as a base to then go do all the activities in the area.

Our host Aruna was fantastic; very welcoming, kind and friendly. The breakfast was lovely and full of traditional food and fresh fruit. The room was perfect and had everything we needed, including the balcony and outdoor jacuzzi pool. We loved the location and surrounding forest and the hotel is a great base to explore Sigiriya and other highlights. Hearing the monkeys on our treehouse roof and seeing lots of wildlife was an added bonus! Would thoroughly recommend!

It was very clean and spacious. As we were traveling with the family, it was great to have both rooms interconnected. We liked the treehouse in the forest very much and it was a new experience for us.

The third bed in the triple room could have been a better quality.

This is a magical place to stay at. The villas are located in the forest and blend naturaly in it, while in walking distance (about 10 minutes) from Habarana center where you can find restaurants and a supermarket. The villas are new and modern, including the bathrooms, air condition and ventilator. There is also a fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator. The villa private swimming pool is clean and has a jakuzi as well, we really enjoyed it. Breakfast was great. Shashika the place manager is very helpful and made sure we have everything we need. This is a wonderful place to sleep at.

Superbly facility located in a calm and secluded area with very easy access to the Habarana town and amnesties. Easily reachable through very good road especially when it is a short trip.
