Fabulous friendly family run this Homestay and nothing is too much trouble, from picking us up at the station to arranging safari ,driving us to Lion Rock for sunrise and a wonderful Ayurvedic treatment. Basic room with A/C and healthy and adequate breakfast. Having a dip in the pool was a bonus

Estuvimos 3 días y la experiencia fue de 10. La ubicación en Habarana es estratégica para explorar el Triángulo Cultural. Nos ayudaron a gestionar todas las actividades de la zona y tuvieron un gesto enorme preparándonos la cena el día que llegamos fuera de hora. El anfitrión nos llevó a disfrutar de un masaje ayurveda fantástico y la piscina del homestay es de diez. Muy recomendable.

Tenía piscina y una terraza explendidos. Al ser en Habarana estábamos más céntrico de todo lo que queríamos ver y hacer.

Los dueños eran muy insistentes en hacer con ellos las actividades de la zona, cosa que nosotros no queríamos debido a que los precios que nos ofrecieron antes de llegar al hotel nos parecieron muy altos, conseguimos las mismas actividades por precios mucho más económicos buscando por nuestra cuenta. Había hormigas en el baño.

Sehr nette Gastgeber, gutes srilankisches Frühstück mit frischem Obst, schöner Pool und toller Ausblick ins Grüne. Der Gastgeber hilft bei der Organisation von Ausflügen.

Il soggiorno di due giorni alla Habarana New Star Homestay è stato decisamente piacevole. I proprietari, moglie e marito con le figlie, sono estremamente accoglienti ed educati. La struttura è piuttosto rinnovata, con piscina all'esterno perfettamente tenuta: addirittura, un giorno che ci siamo andati un po' a sorpresa, la proprietaria è corsa subito a togliere le foglie cascate dall'albero. La colazione messa a disposizione è semplice ma abbondante, ideale per una giornata in cui sono richieste energie (viste le attività nei dintorni) ma senza appensantire. Noi abbiamo scelto la camera più modesta e non c'era l'aria condizionata, il che può essere un problema se uno non è abituato ad un caldo leggero: più che altro il problema è stato un pomeriggio di riposo durante il quale c'è stato un blackout cittadino e non faceva più il ventilatore. Però la camera l'abbiamo scelta noi e il blackout era di tutta la città, quindi non possiamo valutare la cosa negativamente. Un'ultima cosa molto carina: la proprietaria, su richiesta, può cucinare una cena di Kottu (piatto tipico) o pollo. L'abbiamo provata specificando di non farne tanto perché avevamo poca fame: il risultato è stato un piatto enorme (che sfortunatamente non siamo riusciti a finire) con acqua e frutta finale, al costo simbolico di 1000 rupie totali (meno di tre euro). Consiglio vivamente questa struttura a chiunque visiti lo Sri Lanka ed in particolare i luoghi intorno Habarana!

L'unica pecca è che ci sono un po' di formiche, ma se vai in questi posti abbastanza immersi nella foresta è il minimo: pensavamo di trovare molti più insetti ed animali in generale che si addentravano in casa.

Absolutely charming place to stay, gorgeous room that comfortably slept our family of four, with aircon too! Swimming pool was wonderful and a Lanka monkey and baby swing by a couple of times too. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and it’s a great location for everything- the hosts arranged an amazing safari with a wonderful guide. Honestly a wonderful place to stay!!

L'endroit est un Havre de paix, on est entouré de nature, oiseaux, écureuils et meme quelques singes au loin. Magnifique piscine. Petit déjeuner au top. La chambre très confortable et impeccable. Toute la famille était aux petits soins pour nous. Je reviendrai sur!

Goede uitvalsbasis om met de lokale bus (of ander vervoer) de omgeving te leren kennen: Lion's rock, Pidurangale rock, Polonaruwa, Dambulla cave Temples, een boottochtje op een meer in de buurt. We kregen tegen een kleine meerprijs een update naar kamer met airco.

Une belle et grande chambre avec tout le necessaire, une très belle piscine, des propriétaires adorables ( la dame cuisinait pour nous le soir sur demande ) Un excellent rapport qualité prix!

We had a lovely stay at New Star Homestay. The room was clean and comfortable. There was hot water in the shower and a kettle with tea in the room. Room is as shown in pictures :) The pool was divine and very very clean. We were given a welcome juice and served breakfast on the stunning balcony. The family were lovely and welcoming as well. NOTE the homestay uses the old type D power sockets. We managed to find a store in town where we were able to buy one, but the phone stores do not sell them (try one of the local vendors selling miscellaneous things).

Die unglaublich nette Gastfamilie und der Hausherr Lasantha - er hat uns jeden Tag bestens betreut und uns unsere Ausflüge organisiert. Wir waren mit knappem Budget unterwegs und er hat uns einen guten Preis gemacht. Wir machten zb die Village Tour mit Ochsen-Kutschenfahrt, Bootsfahrt und traditionellem kleinen Kochkurs mit super leckerem Mittagessen. Er hat uns auch eine hervorragende und preiswerte Safari im Minneriya Nationalpark organisiert mit direkter Abholung. Wir haben Hunderte Elefanten gesehen! Unseren Kindern hat es sehr gut gefallen! Wir waren 3 Nächte im Homestay. Ich kann es sehr empfehlen!

The owner is really kind and helpful. They arranged safari tour for us with Prabodha Jeep Safari Habarana - we can recommend them! The pool was included and I enjoyed it. They made us breakfast, which was tasty.

Rien à dire sur le logement en soi : la chambre était propre et donnait sur une petite terrasse partagée très agréable où nous avons pris les petits-déj. Rapport qualité/prix imbattable. La guest house est située au calme, mais les restaurants et shops accessibles à pied.

Nous avons été surprises de l'accueil (au vu des commentaires précédents très positifs) : nous avons tout simplement eu l'impression de déranger. Encore plus lorsque nous avons décliné les activités proposées par les hôtes. Le seul sourire obtenu est lorsque nous avons demandé un nouveau rouleau de papier toilette... À savoir aussi que pour les 2 chambres, l'accès se fait par leur salon. Sans être mal logées, nous nous réjouissions de poursuivre notre route.

Zeer klantvriendelijke eigenaars, niets was te veel gevraagd. Uitstekend eten en gunstige ligging voor uitstappen naar lion rock en safari.

The hosts were really awesome, they organised all the excursions and travel to and from at cheaper rates than I could find as a foreigner. They were attentive and understanding when I became ill midway through my stay, offering to send for a doctor and herbal teas. The pool was great and the treehouse looked particularly pretty at night with the uplighting.

The curtains to the glass elevation facing the main property are almost see through so there was very little privacy between me and the hosts family. Also, the wider area has large packs of howling dogs which takes a bit to get used to at night.

Die Unterkunft selbst ist ein wirklich schöner und ruhiger Ort. Der Garten mit Pool lädt zum Entspannen ein und man kann dort viele Tiere beobachten (Affen, Vögel, Eichhörnchen etc.). Die Zimmer sind sauber und mit eigenem Balkon. Das Frühstück ist ausreichend und für 1000 LKR kann man ein einfaches, leckeres Abendessen bekommen. Außerdem durfte ich netterweise meine Wäsche waschen lassen.

Leider war ich mit einigen Punkten rund um die Organisation durch den Gastgeber enttäuscht. Aufgrund der sehr guten vorherigen Bewertungen habe ich mich auf seine Empfehlungen verlassen. Bei der gebuchten Safari stellte sich später heraus, dass der Preis deutlich höher war als vergleichbare Angebote, die ich online gefunden habe. Das hat mich enttäuscht, da ich von Anfang an mehrfach erwähnt hatte, dass ich mit einem begrenzten Budget reise. Auch beim Transport hatte ich ähnliche Erfahrungen. Zum Pidurangala Rock wurde mir zunächst gesagt, dass er mich mit seinem Tuk-Tuk fahren kann "no Problem", am Ende wurde daraus eine deutlich teurere Taxifahrt mit weiteren Verkaufsgesprächen. Mir wurde u.A. mehrfach eine Taxifahrt nach Trincomalee angeboten, obwohl ich bereits erklärt hatte, dass ich günstigere Möglichkeiten, z.B. Bus, bevorzuge und bereits nach Alternativen gesucht hatte. Der Punkt, der meinen Eindruck am meisten beeinflusst hat, war jedoch der Umgang mit der Bewertung. Ich wurde penetrant gebeten, die Bewertung direkt abzugeben, während der Gastgeber daneben stand. Mir wurde gesagt, dass eine nicht perfekte Bewertung seinem Business schaden würde. Ich habe mich dabei unter Druck gesetzt gefühlt und finde, dass Gäste ihre Bewertung frei und ehrlich abgeben können sollten, daher habe ich mich geweigert sofort zu bewerten. Insgesamt ist es ein schöner Ort mit viel Natur und eine gute Möglichkeit, einen Einblick in das Leben einer sri-lankischen Familie zu bekommen. Die Unterkunft selbst würde ich positiv bewerten, aber die Erfahrung mit den angebotenen Leistungen, der Preistransparenz und dem Druck bei der Bewertung hat meinen Aufenthalt deutlich verschlechtert. Aus diesen Gründen würde ich persönlich nicht nochmal zurückkehren.

The family I stayed with were very friendly and helpful, they organised a taxi to Sigriya and a safari for me for a good price. The bed was comfortable and the facilities were basic but clean. The breakfast was very good, and they are flexible on when you want to have it. I didn't use the pool but it looked clean and well maintained. The area was lovely and quiet away from the main road.

Nothing that the homestay has control over, but just note the road to the property was quite dark at night.

Super Unterkunft, hab mich direkt wohl gefühlt, der Eigentümer hat mich super zu Ausflügen beraten. Das Badezimmer sieht richtig gut aus.

Godt og billigt overnatningssted. Værterne var så søde til at hjælpe os med diverse (scooter udlejning, aftensmad, kørsel osv). Rigtig god deal.

It was an exceptional stay in the chill town of Habarana. Lasantha was an exceptional host, offering us more than just accommodation. He helped us get around and show the surroundings for a fair price. Pool was also very clean and the tenperature was perfect. The food we had there was also very good. Everything was really good.

Accueil charmant, famille aimable, chalet spacieux, eau chaude en continu, petit-déjeuner maison et varié, possibilité de dîner sur place à un prix raisonnable, piscine propre et bien entretenue. Hôte omniprésent, attentif à nos besoins et très réactif. Un lieu vivement recommandé.

Die Unterkunft war sehr schön! Der Pool und schön eingerichtete Balkon waren perfekt zum entspannen. Die Gastgeber war außerordentlich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Über die Unterkunft wurde uns eine tolle Safari zu einem sehr guten Preis vermittelt. Auch das Frühstück war steht’s lecker. Ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt, vielen Dank!

The most unique accommodation, a beautiful wooden cabin on a road just 5min walk to the main street. Lots of nature sounds, surrounded by lovely greenery. Air con was excellent to have as well as a fridge to keep water cold. The pool was such a treat to have, which we used once a day as a lovely way to cool down. The breakfast was tasty and our hosts kindly cooked us dinner on three of the nights which was delicious. Really lovely and attentive hosts, who also recommended some great activities to do whilst here - providing transport to and from. Comfy bed and mosquito net was great to have.

Nothing we didn't like. Would recommend ear plugs if a very light sleeper (animals and bird sounds in the night and early morning wake up calls!) which we had and were fine sleeping once we used them.

Tenia piscina

Las fotos eran solo de la cabaña de madera y no de las habitaciones. No tenían espacio para colgar o poner la maleta salvo un taburete para 2 personas. El chasco solo es porque la foto salía siempre la casa de madera aunque nosotras reservamos cuarto y sin AC, tenía un ventilador.

The owner and his wife were fantastic and helped organise an amazing Safari. It is in a very quiet location with wildlife all around. We saw lots of monkeys and hundreds of butterflies from our balcony. The pool was an added bonus in the heat. The breakfast was very good and we were only a short walk from the main town.

After the chaos of Colombo escaping to this amazing place was absolutely great. This family saved us actually picking us up from a six hour train ride. The location is a short little walk to the shops. I got my SIM from there, it was easy, just remember to have your passport. The couple made us a lovely welcoming drink and additionally the breakfast was both filling and tasty. I would highly recommend this stay.

There is absolutely nothing that I didn't like.

We enjoyed a 3-night stay in the wood cabin. Everything was clean and comfortable. Air conditioning, shower and Wifi all worked well. The swimming pool was nice. The host family very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was acceptable. Location was convenient for hiring a driver to visit Sigariya and Polonnaruwa and, within walking distance from the homestay, were many restaurants, supermarket and pharmacy.

This place is paradise! So welcoming and comfortable. The pool was a real bonus that we appreciated and put to good use. The location is near everything you need, but still really peaceful. The family is really helpful and kind. Highly, highly recommended!

Fabulous home stay that you must experience! The home stay is incredibly clean, well maintained and comfortable. We stayed in an air conditioned room and I would recommend this. The pool was great for a refreshing swim each afternoon. Breakfast was plentiful, fresh and delicious. The location is excellent, quiet and away from the very noisy main road yet a short walk to reach restaurants. We had a great meal at ‘Roti Cafe’ and would recommend this restaurant. The owners of New Star Home stay are wonderful, such friendly and helpful people. Loved our stay here!

Prima homestay in een rustige groene omgeving met een lekker zwembad erbij. Eigenaren zijn aardig en proberen het helemaal naar je zin te maken. Goede basis voor activiteiten in de omgeving. Dichtbij restaurants en winkels.

Nice place to stay, nice family. Booked a safari over the owner. Nice view from the balcony into the garden and trees.

Our room was unfortunately damp and therefore smelled mouldy. We shared the balcony with another couple which would have been totally okay, if we were told before.

Siamo stati molto bene, la capanna dove abbiamo soggiornato si è rivelata molto comoda. In una buona posizione, appena fuori dal traffico. Piscina grande e perfetta per una nuotata, anche se noi non l’abbiamo potuta usare molto per via della pioggia. Abbiamo partecipato ad un safari organizzato da loro al costo di 20mila ed è stato piacevole. Ottima colazione abbondante.

Unica cosa negativa, la notte in bagno si riempiva di piccoli scarafaggi.

Nous avons passé 6 nuits. Habarana est central pour desservir les différents lieux d'intérêt. Nous avons dormi en famille dans le chalet en bois, la clim est très fonctionnelle et les lits sont équipés de moustiquaires. Un frigo permet de garder les boissons au frais. Gentillesse des hôtes, très arrangeants pour excursion ou petits trajets en tuk-tuk. La piscine est chaude et très agréable après les visites. Les repas du soir à la demande sont variés et très bons.

La família propietaria del hotel es encantadora, se portaron de 10 con nuestra hija y a nosotros nos ayudaron en todo lo que necesitamos. Nos gestionaron algunas excursiones y todo bien. La habitación que teníamos era muy amplia y las camas muy cómodas. El desayuno era correcto y tuvieron el detalle de hacerle desayuno especial para nuestra hija de 18 meses cada día y sin que nosotros lo pidiésemos.

En el lavabo de la habitación se colaba algún bichito.

A lovely small Homestay in Habarana. As majority of other reviews have said, the owners are absolutely lovely and will assist with all of your travel requests at really decent prices. Don’t book prior! The breakfasts are lovely and if you want to have dinner there they do a great job too - very yummy! In terms of location, it is about a 5 minute walk to the main Habarana township - I was a solo female and felt safe walking there from the accommodation myself. Definitely recommend for a budget stay :)

Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo, la famiglia è stata molto disponibile nei confronti sia per accompagnarcii nei vari punti di interesse sia per prepararci delle ottime cene. Pasti molto semplici ma molto buoni. La piscina ben tenuta e pulita, fruibile anche dopo il tramonto. In camera ci sono le zanzariere, utili in quanto essendo in mezzo alla natura ci sono un pó di zanzare.

Migliorabile la pulizia della stanza ma comunque più che sufficiente.

We stayed 3 nights. Its a great location. The host easily arranged day trips at a good price. The room was comfortable, the food very tasty. Everything was fantastic and you might see an elephant walking by on the street. (Oh and there is a pool!)

We highly recommend this homestay. The family are lovely people. The rooms were clean and comfortable,air conditioning was excellent,the pool was refreshing and the verandah was a cool place to relax. We ate dinner at the homestay on the verandah both nights and the food was AMAZING!! And the owner organised cold beer for us! They helped with a tuk tuk driver to Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa and a safari to Minneriya - all at very good prices. The homestay is a few streets back from main road and nice and quiet. Highly recommended!!

La stanza, essendo senza condizionatore, era umida. Sarebbero state utili delle zanzariere sulle finestre, più che intorno al letto.

The room was clean, the hosts were very accommodating. They were happy to go and get items from the shops, let me use their fridge and answer any questions I had. They arranged a tuk tuk for me to get to my next destination. The food was delicious. I would definitely stay with them again 😁😁

Stanza molto grande e ben organizzata. Bagno grande un po' basic. Bella la piscina. Il proprietario è una persona veramente gentile, ci ha aiutato a prenotare i tuk tuk ed il massaggio adiurvetico (veramente ottimo). Colazione buona. Abbiamo anche cenato da loro e abbiamo mangiato bene. Comodo per raggiungere Sygiria

Migliorare un po' il bagno e la pulizia

Logement propre, bien placé avec une belle piscine, c'est bien agréable. Petit déjeuner de qualité, possibilité de dîner au logement. L'hôte nous a aidé à planifier le séjour et nous a amené dans différents lieux avec son tuktuk.

Nous étions dans la plus petite des 2 chambres située a l étage .Elle avait un ventilateur et cela suffisait. Les 2 chambres sont au dessus du logement de la famille qui est très discrète. . Nous traversons leur salon pour aller a l extérieur.. La terrasse est en comment avec la deuxième chambre. Elle est bien aménagée belle vue ,tranquille. Propreté impeccable . Gentillesse des hôtes ,"très " attentif :)et voulant tout faire pour rendre le séjour agréable..(safari taxis.. ) Tres Bon petit déjeuner , La petite Piscine est bien entretenue et cela fait du bien de s'y poser paisiblement.

Le chalet en bois est magnifique. La piscine est top, très agréable après les journées d’excursion. Les propriétaires sont supers. Monsieur nous a organisé des supers visites (safari, village tour, Sigiriya). Madame nous a cuisiné d’excellents plats. Un super séjour !!!

Les propriétaires sont hyper gentils, flexibles et arrangeants. Ils nous ont aussi énormément aidé à organiser notre séjour : proposition d'activités, conseil sur l'heure de départ/arrivée, réservation d'une voiture ou d'un tuk-tuk, etc Petit déjeuner copieux et ils essayent de varier d'un jour à l'autre. Enfin, la piscine est très agréable

Fabulous Homestay, lovely rooms, warm welcome and superb food. Super Friendly and helpful organised all our trips with an experienced driver who guided us through the culture and wildlife. Fantastic highly recommend.

we loved it all !

Lasantha and Dianee were exceptional hosts. Always available, smiling and couldn't be more helpful. They made us feel extremely welcome and their local knowledge was invaluable. We had dinner with them on two occasions, which was delicious and a treat after busy days. Lasantha organised a jeep safari for us, cooking class and took us to Sigriya to see the sunrise at 4.30 in the morning! We stayed in the A-frame cabin which was wonderful, ample space for two adults and two children, and great to have a fridge and kettle. The ac was brilliant, but the pool was the real highlight! Our kids were in heaven!

Der Pool war toll und der Blick von der Terrasse: Streifenhörnchen, viele Vögel, Affen, Fledermäuse....Sehr nah am Zentrum vom Habarana, dennoch ruhig gelegen. Heißes Wasser in der Dusche! Die Touren, die von dort organisiert werden, sind gut. Preise sollte man aber vorher z.B. mit Pick me vergleichen..Anthony war unser Fahrer, er war einfach nur toll!

Es gab wenig Privatsphäre, da alles dicht beieinander ist (Homestay, kein Hotel).

Le logement est très bien placé pour toutes les activités dans le triangle culturel (Pidurangala, Sigiriya, Dambulla, Polonnaruwa, Ritigala…). La famille de Lasantha nous a tellement bien accueilli qu’on ne voulait plus partir. Nous y avons passé 5 nuits de rêve. Nous avons dormi dans la cabane, il y a aussi deux chambres dans la maison. La cabane est grande, avec clim, moustiquaires, douche grande et chaude (avec mitigeur !), un petit frigo et une bouilloire. Très propre. Au calme, aucune nuisance. Tellement parfait. Lasantha nous a conduit partout avec son tuktuk, il est de très bon conseils et sa compagnie a été plus qu’agréable. Nous avons mangé tous les soirs dans la maison, télé sri lankaise pour le plus grand bonheur de notre fils. Les repas sont délicieux, préparés par Gayni qui avait à cœur de varier les repas, et son Rice and Curry nous a comblé ! Copieux petits déjeuners également. Gayni peut cuisiner pas épicé pour les enfants ce qui est un vrai plus. La piscine est grande et propre. Parfaite après les activités ! Le jardin accueille des écureuils, nous avons aussi vu des singes et un gros varan. Pas de chien ici, deux adorables chats. C’était dur de partir et nous garderons un merveilleux souvenir. Foncez ! C’était impeccable.

Bella la location, molto comoda con il centro sebbene si trovi in una posizione tranquilla. Molto bella la piscina e buona la colazione

I proprietari sono molto gentili. Ci hanno preparato la colazione direttamente sul balconcino comune. Bella piscina, possibilità di cenare in struttura.

Non era possibile ricaricare i telefoni perché le prese della corrente erano vecchie e non a norma (quelle coi buchi tondi per intenderci). Parecchie formiche in bagno.

La piscina está muy bien y muy muy limpia. El dueño nos ayudó a conseguir en un momento alguna cosa que le pedimos. Las habitaciones están muy bien y el aacc funciona estupendamente. El agua caliente también.

La zona de desayuno. Si te alojas en la planta superior hay posibilidad de que la mesa de desayuno esté justo al lado de la cama, por lo que si otros huéspedes fuman o hablan se oye todo y huele un montón.

Le plus la piscine, le petit déjeuner simple et le lieu trop bruyant.

Trop de bruit.

Absolute highlight of our trip staying at the homestay, with all of our tours sorted for a great price plus home cooked meals as well which were delicious and cheap. Will definitely be sending friends and family back here, great pool as well to relax amongst the sounds of the jungle!

We loved our stay, no issues at all.

Lasantha's wife, Gayani was pleasant and helpful. The homestay in the lap of nature. Very serene.

1) Room is incredibly small. 2) AC had a mind of its own. 3) All through one night, there was no water in the bathroom. 4) Lasantha took 100usd for minneriya safari and was very very vague about the true charges. 5) Lasantha didn't tell us beforehand that a passport would have come in handy at Sigiriya fort. 6) He got quite cold, it felt like, when we decided to find our own mode of transport.

Everything was perfect. Highly recommend

Amazing cabin and pool and very friendly host. We enjoyed a home-cooked meal most of the nights we stayed which was amazing. Furthermore they arranged a nice safari for us.
