The Grand Hotel Robertson

The whole experience, including the donner at the resaurant was amazing. We were also pleasantly surprised with the gift of wine that was placed in our room, due to mentioning it was our wedding anniversary. Thank you!

The hotel can do with a more private bar where one can have a drink and relax. The bar at presen seems to form part of the main entrance and reception and is not very inviting.

The staff were so friendly and helpful and went out of their way to assist. Service was really excellent. The hotel was charming and restored in a way that kept the old but added comfort and style. The restaurant food was great and plentiful and a log fired warmed the entrance. The spa treatments were also really good.

Parking was a bit restricted but staff moved vehicles and made a plan.

Love the room and bathroom. Very clean and thoughtfully decorated.

Staff really needs training. From ordering room service to coffee at breakfast you could see that there has been no training. They have good ideas but lack in execution unfortunately.

Staff are very professional, friendly, and accommodating! Jacob, the Chef, excelled with the menu options and scrumptious meals ( the Malay Lamb Curry is to die for..), and expect to see and interact with the GM Estelle regularly. The rooms are bright, modern classic, with all the comforts one requires. The Spa offers a good selection of therapies and treatments to choose from and Amanda is truly exceptional in delivering your choice. What I did not expect was to be taken to my room by the receptionist who made sure I knew the layout of the hotel, the restaurant's operating hours and menu's, how the lights, TV, aircon, etc in the room worked, and, offered a welcome drink. What a beautiful experience in the heart of Robertson, and well worth your visit when next in the area.

The attention to detail and level of service was exceptional - even to the point where a staff member went to buy a spare battery for my vehicle remote. Wonderful room & spotlessly clean. Great restaurant as well. Probably the best bathroom ever.

De vriendelijkheid van het personeel! Je wordt er heel welkom onthaald! Het personeel doet alles voor jou! Je kan er veilig parkeren De kamers zijn heel mooi ingericht en telkens je s avonds de kamer nog eens verlaat komen ze nog eens alles checken..doen ze de gordijntjes dicht..leggen ze een klein versnapering op je bed! Zijn dus heel attent Mooi onderhouden zwembad met echt “clean” water! Toffe ,grote ligbedden Lekker gegeten! Mooie kamer en mooie badkamer! Dit overtrof mijn verwachtingen

1 klein dingetje : hun boekingssysteem is nog wat moeilijk en verwarrend met booking.com . Sturen je een betaalverzoek met een link terwijl je via booking moet betalen! Maar je kan heel vlot communiceren met het hotelmanagement

Das Hotel hat Flair. Knarzende Holztreppen gehören dazu. Die Einrichtung ist geschmackvoll. Das Essen gut. Die Mitarbeiter freundlich. Was will man mehr.

Das Leitungswasser hatte eine unappetitlich braune Farbe. Zähneputzen ging nur mit Mineralwasser. Angeblich ein Problem derlezten Regenfälle, aber für ein Hotel dieser Kategorie nicht akzeptabel.

Prachtig pas gerenoveerd hotel, heel stijlvol ingericht. Onze suite was groot, comfortabel met ruime badkamer. Lekker ontbijt, wel beperkte keuze. Dinner heel lekker en goede service. Heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel.

Onze kamer had een mobiele airco die veel lawaai maakte. Tegen de ochtend ook heel veel en luid straatlawaai… In sommige kamers werd airco geïnstalleerd, dus ook hopelijk binnenkort in onze kamer.

Style and decor was tasteful with friendly staff and good food.

Super Hotel in Robertson mit schönem Pool. Saubere und geräumige Zimmer.

Leider keine AC in den Zimmern.

It was a welcome oasis of luxury and relaxation and the perfect place to break our long journey. We had to delay our arrival by one day due to illness and the hotel were very accommodating in this with no additional charges.

We loved it.

Das Hotel und seine Infrastruktur verdienen den Namen Grand Hotel. Die Renovation der 100-jährigen Liegenschaft ist sehr gut gelungen und mit wertigen Materialien ausgeführt. Die Küchen- und Frühstücksangeboten vermögen zu überzeugen.

Die Dienstleistungen vermögen einem Grand Hotel mit 5*-Anspruch in keiner Weise zu genügen. Bei unserer Ankunft war die Rezeption durch eine Praktikantin besetzt, die absolute keine Ahnung hatte, mit welchen Informationen ein Checkin angemessen zu erledigen wäre. Die Serviceangestellten im Restaurant sind ausgesprochen freundlich und dienstbar, haben aber leider wenig bis keine Warenkenntnisse. Bei unserer Abreise regnete es in Strömen. Es wäre niemandem (auch nicht der anwesenden Geschäftsführerin!) in den Sinn gekommen, uns z.B. mit einem Regenschirm zum Auto zu begleiten, dass wir das Gepäck möglichst trocken verladen könnten. Das haben wir in 3*-Betrieben schon deutlicch besser erlebt.

Eine wunderschöne Unterkunft. Wir haben das Cottage mit zwei Schlafzimmern am Pool bewohnt. Exquisite und gemütliche Einrichtung, ausgezeichnete Betten, hohe Aufenthaltsqualität, Pool und exzellente Küche. Schade, dass wir nur zwei Nächte hier waren.

Liegt in der Stadt mit etwas Straßenlärm…

Small quiet oasis with comfort and style. As Vegetarians we did not feel out of place! It’s SA after all!

Wunderschönes Hotel, tolles Bad und sehr bequeme Betten. Das Restaurant ist hervorragend und das Personal außergewöhnlich hilfsbereit und super freundlich. Sehr sympathische Menschen.

Die Klimaanlage war mobil und das Fenster deshalb offen - was nicht so toll war, es könne ruhiger sein. Die Kühlschrank- Konstruktion sah etwas gebastelt aus, was nicht zum Rest der toll gestalteten Hotels passt. Aber das ist klagen auf hohem Niveau.

Hilfsbereit inkl.Portier, das Auto wurde jeden Morgen gereinigt. Bei der Nachfrage nach UBER (nicht vorhanden in Robertson) hat die Gastgeberin sofort einen privaten Fahrer organisiert um mit uns ins Restaurant zu fahren und zurück. Die Kommunikation im Hotel funktioniert einwandfrei via SMS. Laundry-Service ist sehr gut. Das Frühstück wird den Anzahl Gästen im Hause angepasst, was sehr gut ist. Kleines SPA-Angebot wurde für Pédicure genutzt und professionell umgesetzt.

La propreté! Les chambres étaient belles, super propres, et décorées avec grand goût. L’accueil était chaleureux, avec un verre de vin offert et les sourires des réceptionnistes. Le petit déjeuner était simple, avec des produits très frais et c’était super bon. Nous avons passé un séjour absolument merveilleux. Un grand merci à Margaret qui s’est occupée de nous avec tellement de bienveillance. Merci aussi à la jolie réceptionniste dont nous n’avons pas retenu le nom mais qui était tout aussi bienveillante. Et le dernier merci revient à la gérante qui nous a gracieusement mis à disposition son taxi anglais pour nous conduire jusqu’à la gare de Wine train.

Absolutely nothing!

The truth is that the room was very comfortable and our trip to a wine farm was a delight. The washing of the car in the mornings and the way our room was decorated when we went to bed on the Sunday was beautiful. Perhaps what we experienced on Saturday evening at a 5 * guest house in Stellenbosch, just set the bar so much higher. our expectations were too high of a similar priced establishment in a country town.

The breakfast was poor. Little variety. We did not expect no bacon on the menu gut the establishment has a wine list. (Advertise this fact). Sunday afternoon we had a cheese platter and a bottle of wine. The platter was very disappointing. Not what we experience in the Stellenbosch and Paarl wine farm areas. There was a conference held with breakaways taking place around the pool. Not an ideal situation for a couple who are on honeymoon. Noisy, when you ventured out of the room you were stared at. The breakfast on Tuesday I had an omelette, and it was bland and no colour.

Coffee in the room was of poor quality. No bacon at breakfast?? No light switch at bedside.

Die Unterkunft war mit Auto leicht zu erreichen, hat Parkplatz im Hof. Ist geschmackvoll im Vintage-Stil eingerichtet. Swimmingpool, Sonnenliegen, Spa-Bereich, Bar, sehr gutes Restaurant - alles vorhanden.

Location. The room was pretty.

We often stay at the other 5 star hotel down the road, and this time was excited to try this new establishment, even though the room cost almost 30% more. It didn’t feel like a 5 star experience unfortunately. No sugar or sweeteners in the room. Was expected to pay for bottled water. The gentleman who showed us to the room, half heartedly showed us the amenities but omitted to show us how the complicated ‘aircon’ (which is actually a fan) worked. Same with the TV. Even forgot to give us our key. The food in the restaurant was so bad. Curry re-heated from frozen and half of my steak was well done instead of medium. With a result that we didn’t stay for breakfast and couldn’t wait to leave. Feel cheated actually. The manager was on duty the next morning and I regret that I didn’t share this with her. Honestly after paying that much for what was supposed to feel like a really special spoil, all we wanted to do was leave.

The staff were so professional, friendly and helpful and they went above and beyond to assist us with anything including driving us to a restaurant and collecting us later in the evening. In addition our dinner in the hotel restaurant was first class!

We enjoyed our stay here, the staff were very friendly and the food was good. Our room wasn't the biggest, which was disappointing considering the cost. A hot water bottle was left in our bed, which was a pleasant surprise after a lovely dinner. There is room for improvement here and I understand it's under new management which is probably what is needed.

We waited a long time for coffee at breakfast and I asked for some bacon which was forgotten. Didn't feel value for money.

Beautiful building and friendly staff. Bed was very comfortable. The little evening fudge next to our bed was a cute touch.

We had an amazing stay at the Grand. Mandy, Trevor and the team were fantastic and did everything to make sure our stay was enjoyable. It was off season so we were the only the guests and the team did everything to make us feel comfortable. We were in the Arabella room which was spacious, clean and comfortable. A fire was lit every evening in the bedroom as well as in the bathroom so the evenings were toasty. We even had a lift in the “London Black Cab” to a wine tasting which was fun. The restaurant food and service were also a hit and there is no need to venture out for dinner. The breakfast was also delicious and we had it served in the garden room every morning which was a lovely way to spend the day! A lot of care and attention to detail has gone into restoring this building to the lovely hotel it is now but it is the team who go above and beyond which differentiates it from other stays we have had. We will be back and can’t wait.

Mandy and Trevor, the two best people I have ever met. They Spoiled us with hot water bottles in the bed and heaters in the room and with other little special treats. Even my car was washed before we left The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated and with super comfortable beds and bedding. The host recommended their signature dishes and I agree that it was amazing. I had the Malay Curry and my Wife had the Karoo Lamb with their Malva Pudding as dessert. Super delicious. Shops are in walking distance and a great little town to take a stroll through. We had the greatest experience from the moment we got there to the moment we left. Mandy and Trevor, and their lovable Huskies .Thank you for a wonderful experience, we will be seeing you very soon.

The most delightful authenticity renovated and lovingly restored Heritage hotel which is passionately run by the owners Trevor and Mandy. From the time you walk in the front door you are taken care of and made to feel like part of a loving home. A definite must we will be back 10/10
