General's Hideout Siargao

I have been in Siargao for over a month now and stayed in a wide range of properties in different parts of the Island. All of my stays have been great General's Hideout though stands out as my favorite stay and chapter in my trip so far. The property is located on the outskirts of the village of Malinao which is very local and lively with a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. It is very close to the beach and a very good restaurant called El Carabao which also stands out as one of my best experiences here in Siargao and eat there every day. All off the Staff at Generals Hideout have made me feel absolutely at home and the added bonus of having very friendly dogs and a cat on the premises really makes me feel at home. I love saying here. Highly recommended :)

Everything was perfect

Gute ruhige Lage, sehr bequeme Betten, großes Zimmer. Wir konnten unseren Aufenthalt sehr spontan um eine Nacht verlängern, Roller kann günstig über die Unterkunft organisiert werden. Außerdem gab es während dem Aufenthalt einmal ein Housekeeping, bei dem alles frisch gemacht wurde. Für Tierliebhaber: hier gibt es ein paar sehr liebe, gepflegte und zutrauliche Hunde, Welpen und Katzen.

Badezimmer entsprach kaum den Bildern, beim Duschen wird trotz Duschvorhang (zu kurz) der gesamte Boden nass. Die Eingangstür wird zum Abend abgesperrt. Auch wenn die Chefin sagt es sei immer jemand da um aufzumachen, empfanden wir dies als äußerst unpraktisch und wollten spätabends dann auch keine Mitarbeiter mehr wecken um die Tür zu öffnen. Vielleicht sollte man hier über einen Türcode oder für Gäste zugängliches Schloss nachdenken. Teilweise das Verhalten der Mitarbeiter gegenüber den Tieren. Schade, dass man hier handgreiflich wird oder zum Besen gegriffen wird.

I like that the General’s Hideout is quiet and peaceful. It’s also very friendly for digital nomads, with fast and reliable Wi-Fi.

We love the dogs!! They make you feel like home and they are so friendly. Also the staff is always happy to help. The kitchen is very nice and good to use. The bed is big and comfortable and the room has all the amenities you need. The location is perfect, just close to the main road but super quiet and close to main spots but not in the center.

Maybe the shower head. Not super strong and the position was bit too up high.

On a réserver un tuktuk via l'hôtel depuis le port et celui-ci nous a coûter le double de ce que proposais les personnes au port.

La localisation de l'hôtel sur Malinao et pas General Luna, on est au calme et vraiment pas loin 5 min en scooter de l'euphorie de GL. L'endroit est magnifique et super bien entretenu. Le personnel aux petits soins, ils m'ont invité à leur déjeuner lors de mon dernier jour, c'était l'anniversaire d'une des employees. Les chambres sont spacieuses, la salle de bain et les toilettes aussi et tout est propre. Il y a la possibilité de louer un scooter sur place ce qui est vraiment pratique. Une cuisine extérieure où vous pouvez cuisiner ou juste récupérer du café et de l'eau (chaude ou froide) Je me suis bien sentie dans cet hôtel avec les petits chiens qui venaient me voir quand je buvais mon café !!! Je recommande vivement Merci à l'équipe pour ce très agréable séjour !!

The shower didn't work then they fixed it and there are cameras everywhere. I get it it protects against theft but realize it feels breaching of my own privacy to have cameras every centimeter of the area

Bon emplacement pas loin de General Luna et d'une jolie plage calme, joli jardin bien entretenu.

Ma clim bruyante pas possible de la laisser la nuit, l'odeur dans la salle de bain, pas beaucoup de débit dans la douche et l'eau était soit brûlante ou froide.

Obwohl die Anlage sehr nahe an der Hauptstraße liegt hält sich der Lärm in Grenzen. Das Zimmer ist wie ein freistehendes Tiny-Haus gebaut und hat damit den Vorteil, dass man die Geräusche der anderen Gäste nicht mitbekommt. Es gibt Fernseher, Klimaanlage und einen Fan. Es gibt eine Außen- bzw. Gemeinschaftsküche wo man sich Trinkwasser holen und einen Kaffee kochen kann. Die Anlage liegt 3-4 km vor General Luna und ist mit dem Tricycle oder einen Mietbike in wenigen Minuten zu erreichen.

Auf dem Gelände und in der Lobby befinden sich immer 3-4 sehr zutrauliche Hunde und eine Katze. Wer allergisch ist oder solche Tiere nicht mag sollte dies berücksichtigen. Das Zimmer wurde in 5 Tagen nur einmal gereinigt. Das Wlan bzw Wifi war, obwohl im der Hotelbeschreibung als Highspeed Internet bezeichnet, äußerst schwach und nur wenige Minuten am Tag tatsächlich nutzbar. Es gab nur wenige ausgeleierte Steckdosen sodass die Stecker ständig von selbst herausfielen. Die Klimaanlage ist so extrem laut, dass man gezwungen ist ohne Klimaanlage zu schlafen. Die Managerin vermittelt Miet-Scooter, allerdings nur ohne Versicherung. Wer das möchte muss direkt in General Luna mieten.

Great little cabana everything worked great. And the outside kitchen saved me money. Excellent cable TV.

It’s far from town, unless you have a motorcycle. Tuk-tuk’s can be a little costly!

Tema neteja, teoricament posa que cada dos dies netegen l’habitació però no es cert, ho has de demanar tu, sino no ho faran. Tot i quan netegen tot i que ho fan peou be, el lavabo segueix estan brut i hi surts amb els peus marrons. El llit es doble però el somier individual, llavors hi ha un bulto en el llit que fa que no sigui comode. L’aire acondicionat fa molt de soroll i per tant per la nit no es pots posar, tens un ventilador però hi ha el mateix problema. La propietaria no va ser gaire simpatica des del primer dia, vam arribar d’hora i només vam demanar que ens guardessin les maletes i ella no parava de repetir, heu arribat massa d’hora ara hem de netejar super rapid. Tot i repetir moltes vegades que no teniem pressa i que només si ens guardaven les maletes podiem anar a voltar i anar més tard. A mes a mes, tot i que es demana reduir el soroll per no molestar, als mateixos treballadors els pots escoltar cridant a partir de les 7 del mati cosa que mes d’un dia ens va despertar Si tens por als gossos has d’anar amb compte ja que n’hi ha 4 i et venen sempre a sobre.

Very friendly, welcoming staff, comfortable room, it was just out of town so you felt a bit more secluded and away from the hustle and bustle, it had a kitchen so if you wanted to make tea/coffee or your own meals you could, they also had a water dispenser to fill up your bottle.

Unfortunately it was quite noisy from the road, this is no fault of the accommodation, but it wasn't as peaceful in the morning as I'd hoped. There was a smell always coming from the bathroom, other than that no complaints, very good value for money and we enjoyed our stay. A/C was quite noisy.

I really loved this place! It’s wonderful — the beds are very comfortable, the shower is excellent, everything you need is there, and it’s super clean. There’s a smart TV, great air conditioning, and the staff is amazing. No question I’ll come back here again! Thank you so much for everything — 100/100

Staff went above and beyond to make sure we're happy. They helped us organise a motocycle, accommodated an early checkin and even got us some fresh local bread. Loved it! Very good location, just far enough away from the main tourism area to really feel like you're in paradise, but close enough to a few small sari saris / eateries to have all you need nearby. Also only about 7 mins from the city so you can always go there.

Bathroom was a bit smelly, seems like the piping is a bit weird. Nothing you can change and it seems like a general problem on the island. Heard the same about another hotel.

The place is quite ,the rooms are clean , with a good communal space to cook your own meals. Plus ,the staff's super friendly and accomodating.

Had an incredible stay at General's Hideout in Siargao! Great location, quiet and secure. it is cozy especially at night with the garden lights. comfortable rooms, and super friendly staff who made us feel right at home. The peaceful atmosphere was exactly what we needed after busy days exploring the island. Highly recommend, already planning our next visit!

Had a wonderful time at this spacious homestay with a beautiful garden setting. The property is incredibly quiet and comfortable with clean, well-maintained rooms - perfect for relaxing after busy days exploring the island. Really appreciated the affordable drinks (beer and soda at great prices) and the modern touch of having TV with Google Chromecast in every room. Great value for money and such a peaceful atmosphere. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a tranquil retreat in Siargao. Will definitely be back!

Back for my second stay here and honestly, it’s even better! Still super peaceful and quiet exactly what I needed. Rooms are clean and well-kept, and the whole place feels safe and secure. What’s new this time? They have a new shared kitchen. They’re selling drinks now - beer, sodas, fruit juices and the prices are really good! Plus they got a practice surf board you can use to practice, which is good. Love the chill vibe here. Already thinking about booking again!

It would be great if they started offering food, especially for someone like me who doesn’t cook, but it is not a big issue

what an amazing stay. spacious and clean nice rooms. Shower gets hot. Cute dogs on sight!!! Kitchen area to use, free cold water dispenser and really kind staff. Only thing is the aircon is very loud so bring earplugs, but it works very good :)

This place is just amazing! It’s quiet, cozy, and super clean – exactly what we needed to relax. The rooms are spacious, there’s hot water in the shower (which isn’t that common in the Philippines), and everything felt really comfortable and pleasant. The location is also great – not right in the center, but only a 5-minute drive away, so it’s both peaceful and conveniently close to everything. There’s also an outdoor kitchen that was super convenient – we used it a few times and it had everything we needed. It really added to the homey and relaxed vibe of the place. The manager was amazing – he looked after us the whole time and really made us feel like someone genuinely cared about our stay. The rest of the staff were also super friendly and always served with a smile. We originally came for a few days, but there was no room to stay longer – so we came back a few days later, just because we had such a great time. No doubt we’d love to stay here again. Highly recommended!

Our room smelled really bad like dog pee, we tried to locate it and resolve it ourselves but couldn’t find the source. This was particularly annoying since we had just arrived and needed to rest from the travels but couldn’t because the smell was too bad. We communicated that with the manager who cleaned the room again a few hours later. It didn’t go away so on the second night we changed rooms. Despite hostess has always remained helpful, we could sense her being annoyed by this/us which felt odd. We are paying for a service and shouldn’t made feel guilty for pointing out something that makes us feel uncomfortable. The second room was fine. The rooms are nice but very basic, totally ok for the price though.

Ultra comfortable bed. Spotlessly clean. Super quiet. Brilliant staff (so helpful and attentive). Perfect location just out of GL - only 5 to 7 minutes to great cafes - Malinao is where it’s at. Amazing value for money - I’ve stayed a lot of places and paid more, for nowhere near the value here.

I love how the location is just right—not too far, but not right in the middle of the busy Tourism Road. A 10-minute motorbike ride is totally manageable, and there’s always a tuktuk around when I don’t feel like driving. It’s the perfect spot to unwind and get some peaceful rest whenever I need it. Plus, I feel super safe with the two adorable dogs and the awesome staff always around to take care of the place and make sure I have everything I need. I also love that I can start my mornings with a jog or walk along Malinao Beach—such a perfect way to kick off the day! And when I need to get some work done or take meetings, I have plenty of options—I can work from the gazebo, inside my room, or just chill on my patio while staying productive. To top it all off, they even offer in-room massages with a proper massage table, making it super easy to relax and recharge without leaving my space. You can also grab drinks from the reception at a very reasonable price. And the best part—they accept credit cards, which is always a huge plus especially in the island.

It was my first time on the Siargao island, and this accommodation was a big part of the beautiful stay. Staff, lead by menager Marilou, was super friendly to me. I didn't have pesos coming from the airport, so they paid for my tuktuk and also lent me money for dinner until I exchanged some. They arranged a motorbike and were there for any of my questions. I loved the lawn because I would chill in the night outside and look at the stars. It was exceptionally clean and not moldy, which is often a case in Southeast Asia. Also, there is an open kitchen and fridge as well as a water gallon. It is 6 minutes driving and about 4 km from the town of General Luna, making it peaceful and quiet during the night. They also have a cat, Luna and dogs Antonia and Edgar, that are super friendly. I would definitely come back!

Marie Lou is the Manager of the accommodation and was super friendly and very helpful. She tried to solve all our problems and helped booking motorbikes and transportation. The Rooms were clean and good. There is even a shared kitchen to use. If some of the negative points do not apply to you, you can have a pleasant stay there. But it is quite expensive for what you get, compared to other places we booked during our Philippines trip.

Very little water pressure in the shower( i guess that is normal in the Philippines). The other staff members did their job good but were not as friendly as we hoped for. Especially compared to marie lou. They are doing some work and it can be noisy sometimes and they are not really aware of the noise they are causing. They are sitting or lying on the tables on the balcony of unoccupied rooms. Some of the staff members seem to live there and when you use the kitchen it us like using their kitchen and not really a shared one.

A newly designed guest house, very comfortable and the staff were all so lovely. Best if you have a scooter!

They didn’t change my towels the whole time and nothing dries properly so I was using wet towels for 5 days. I think they should have changed the sheets too at least once.

staff were very accommodating, our arrival was early and we had 8 hours before designated check in but they gave us a room to rest in until our room was available. The room was clean, comfortable and the location was quiet beyond the bustle of the main tourist area but within easy reach with transport readily available. If you hired a scooter absolutely no problem.

The location was quiet and the host was nice

The room had a very bad smell coming from the toilet. On our first night there was no running water and we couldn’t use the sink or shower. The electricity and the wifi kept cutting out randomly and not working and the room was full of bugs.

General’s Hideout is in a prime location making it a great choice for relaxation. What made our stay great is the attentive staff, who go above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcomed and comfortable. Their warm hospitality created a genuinely pleasant atmosphere which is deal for travelers looking to unwind in a quiet, welcoming environment with all the essentials for a comfortable experience (they even have a generator incase the power goes out). We’ll be making sure to book this place for our next visit!

This place is amazing it's easy to find the staff are very kind friendly and helpful you can cook food with their open kitchen which is good for people like me who travel with kids. Always clean and beautiful. I would definitely recommend this place not just for couples but for families too
