Near to beach, peaceful and calm

Communication issue, owner doesn’t understand much.

The place is nice, but the pictures are not really up to date.

But what made my stay very uncomfortable (as a solo female traveller) was the guy who runs the accommodation. When I complained about the room he gave me, it was not the one I booked, I had to explain it several times. Another guest (a man) had to join the conversation and help me out, then all of a sudden I got the room I had booked. So my critic is to the men and how he talks and treats women.

La gentilezza della moglie del proprietario, la colazione che seppur non varia, non si poteva scegliere tra caffè e thè, era molto economica 400 Lkr.

Nonostante avessimo scritto più volte al proprietario sia attraverso booking.com sia via whatsapp del nostro arrivo alle 5 del mattino, quando siamo arrivati era stupito e ci ha dato una "stanza" molto fatiscente. La stanza era sporca e per due sere di fila abbiamo trovato 2 scarafaggi. Il secondo giorno quando lo abbiamo detto ci ha spostato nella stanza continua che era completamente sporca dicendo che il giorno successivo ci avrebbe dato una stanza migliore. La stanza che ci ha dato era sicuramente meglio dei tuguri precedenti ma il bagno era "condiviso" con le formiche. L'acqua del bagno un giorno non funzionava perché avevano spento l'interruttore centrale.. Internet, inoltre, funzionava a fasi alterne perché ogni tanto spegnevano il modem. Cercate altro.

We were disappointed with our stay and ended up checking out early. Unfortunately, there were many cockroaches in our room. On top of that, the cleanliness was lacking, there was no blanket provided, and some of the power outlets as well as the shower were not working properly. When we decided to leave after the first night because of these issues, we were still forced to pay for two nights, even though we only stayed for one.

En general, la experiencia fue positiva y el personal fue muy amable y atento en todo momento. Sin embargo, creo que hay algunos aspectos que podrían mejorar. Las instalaciones no eran especialmente cómodas y, durante la estancia, se pasaba bastante calor, lo que hacía que el descanso fuera algo menos agradable. Con unas pequeñas mejoras en este aspecto, la experiencia sería mucho más cómoda para los huéspedes. Aun así, agradecemos el trato recibido y el esfuerzo del equipo por hacernos sentir bienvenidos.

The host family was so kind and they did everything for us. They offer many activities like a boat tour to see dolphins, a snorkeling experience, tuktuk transport arrangements,... They also offered us homemade tea, and the host gave us many information on what to do during our trip in different parts of the country. Overall we had an amazing experience in the NR Villa Nilaveli!!

Calm place close to Nilaveli beach. I liked having cozy terrace outside my room. Private table & chairs for dining. Minimalism but had all needed inside as well. Considering the price (close to very touristic area) it was a fair deal. People helpful but I'd put 10 stars just for your smiles. Loved the kids speaking English with me. I think adults should learn about kindness and open hearted attitude towards their guests from kids. We are charging from each other making everything as ONE. I wish you all the best! Communication could be improved. I had to waste some time to organize boat tour directly from here which eventually did not happen *if there are no whales due to off season this should be told 🧐 *between 'bro' and 'sir' is 'friend' and it is nice to be used while communicating with people 😉

Famiglia veramente molto accogliente, ci ha dato la possibilità di lasciare i bagagli anche molto tempo dopo il check-out. La stanza essenziale, ma con tutto l'occorrente e la posizione è veramente buona, a pochi minuti a piedi dal mare. Ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo.

Potrebbe essere un po' calda di notte, nonostante il ventilatore

Se desideri vivere un'esperienza srilankese autentica, questo è il posto. Rafeet e la sua famiglia sono persone molto gentili e disponibili. Le stanze sono molto essenziali, semplici e spartane come nello stile del posto, e si trovano all'interno di un giardino rigoglioso, ognuna con una veranda che dà sul verde. Sei a 10 minuti a piedi dalla spiaggia di Nilaveli. Soluzione molto economica per la zona, ideale per due-tre notti.

Le personnel est très gentil mais il ne parle pratiquement pas anglais ce qui n est pas facile pour obtenir de si formation

Le rapport qualité prix est incroyable, l’hôte est à vos petits soins, toujours là pour vous aider, la cuisine est excellente et l’emplacement à 10m à pied de la plage parfait. Je recommande vivement !

A unos 10min andando de la playa y con muchas opciones para desayunar/comer cerca. No tiene aire acondicionado pero tiene ventilador. El host ofrece organizar diferentes excursiones en la zona con él.

Hicimos excursión al Angel’s rock para hacer snorkel en un día con nubes y mucho viento. No recomiendo en estas condiciones porque no se disfruta con el mar tan revuelto. Tampoco recomiendo reservar desayuno allí, muy escaso para el precio pagado. Preferible hacerlo fuera.

The host Rafeet is a very nice man eager to help you in any possible way. He can organise diving and snorkeling tours as well as dolphin and whale watching. The home stay is located at a 10 minutes walk from the beach and is close to the restaurants and the local convenience stores.

Not a negative, but hopefully a note for future improvements: the room is really basic at the moment (a bed, a hanger, a ventilation). In the future, it'd be great to add a table to allow for better storage. With that said, keep in mind that it's the best price available in town and you do have a warm homestay feeling :)

Near the beach

The accommodation was terrible. An empty room with no facilities, in which it was impossible to sleep at night due to the heat.

The place is budget-friendly, and the owner is knowledgeable about the best attractions and activities to try in Nilaveli. The property is family-run, with warm, welcoming people who were incredibly helpful throughout our stay.

Rafeet is so helpful and friendly and organised snorkelling and dolphin 🐬 watching… Gave us free coffee and drinking water…nice quiet place and easy to walk around from

Cleaning of the bathroom could have been better, but I spoke to Rafeet about this and he was happy with the feedback

Come molte altre strutture simili della costa Est in Sri Lanka, avrebbe bisogno di una maggiore attenzione ai materassi, alle lenzuola e a una manutenzione più regolare. La sera c'era un fortissimo odore di benzina.

It is a very nice place to stay in Nilaveli, the owner is very nice and helpful, good location and grate value for the price. I would recommend this hostel if coming to nilaveli and looking for an affordable relaxed place to stay.

El propietario ha sido muy amable y acogedor. Nos ha ayudado en todo: comidas, transporte y ofrece actividades a muy buen precio en comparación con lo que vimos. En general se preocupa mucho por el bienestar de sus huéspedes. 10/10, súper recomendable! Gracias!!

Un bel emplacement ce qui nous motiver à réserver La qualité/prix À seulement 15/20min à la pied de nivelli Toujours tout droit donc impossible de la louper

Très sommaire mais pour le prix c était correct. Possible de réserver un tour dauphins + snorkeling C était assez vite fait je trouve. Lit 1place et demi donc impossible de dormir en couple.

La guesthouse est parfaite au niveau qualité prix et surtout le propriétaire et sa famille font du séjour un moment agréable et familiale. Effectivement les lits sont un peu court mais même mes 1m85 sont rentrés dedans ! Vous pouvez faire confiance au propriétaire pour avoir les bonnes informations pour tout (sortie, tuktuk, restaurant) En bref un excellent séjour !

Het eten hier was heel goed en lokaal. Op verzoek lekker pittig gemaakt. Misschien wel het lekkerst wat we in Sri Lanka hebben gegeten. Ze hebben ook onze was gedaan en vervoer naar Sigiriya geregeld voor een eerlijke prijs. Gastheer Rafeet is zeer behulpzaam en gastvrij.

De kamer was wat verouderd maar wel schoon.

Il bagno non era ottimale

Sono stata mandata in un altra struttura perché l’host ha detto che c’era stato un problema con la prenotazione. Non essendo mai entrata posso dire che almeno da fuori dava proprio senso di tranquillità , situata a pochi minuti a piedi dalla spiaggia, la famiglia dell host molto carina. In ogni caso l’host mi è sembrato abbastanza disponibile

The owner was nice, very welcoming. He arranged a transport from Trincomalee for a reasonable price. We were offered tea. We had towels and we had a good WiFi. The house is a few minutes walk from the beach, very reasonable. The owner said he had a boat and could arrange a trip to Pigeon island, but finally we didn't go and we stayed on the beach in Nilaveli.

To improve, the hosts could add : a blanket to cover yourself at night when it gets a bit chilly. Keep in mind you will have to bring your own soap.

Super séjour que j‘ai prolongé. On se sent vraiment comme à la maison. L’hôte et sa famille sont extrêmement aimable et arrangeant. Ils font tous pour qu‘on se sente bien. Les repas étaient généreux et succulent. L’emplacement se trouve à 8 min à pied de la plage. Nilaveli est un petit havre de paix. Je recommande fortement

Quelques petits problèmes de wifi, comme à beaucoup d’endroits au Sri Lanka. Rien de trop grave, et ça a vite était réglé.

This accomodation I booked for our friend for one night. He was satisfied, his room was clean, owners very friendly, the house is about 20 minutes walk to beautiful Nilaveli beach.

NR Villa is nestled in the nature, with beautiful green spaces and is a quiet retreat, close to some lovely restaurants and a gorgeous long stretch of beach. The host family are very friendly and welcoming and did everything to make me feel welcome during my stay! They truly went above and beyond with their hospitality and are so kind! 🙏🏼

Everything was great however the mattress has a plastic protector over it, which makes it a little hot in a fan only room. Also no kettle in the room as advertised, but I'm sure if I had asked, they would have provided one!

Nos recibió con fruta y una gaseosa. El anfitrión es simpático. Está cerca de la playa pero alejado del jaleo de restaurantes y demás.

Solo nos pusieron una toalla. La pastilla de jabón que dejaron estaba usada y el baño estaba sucio. La cama es pequeña y el colchón tiene un plástico debajo de la sábana que hace tener más calor. No hay mosquitera.

NR Villa Nilaveli is owned by a lovely family and is situated close to the amazing Nilaveli beach which is not occupied by tourists even in the high season. We appreciated the cosy shady garden and the very good breakfast for the price. The owner also runs a seafood restaurant, Red Lobster, where we had a delicious dinner.

The beds are quite small for two people (European size). If you are afraid of mosquitoes, bring your own mosquito net.

Rafeet was so friendly, he offered a chai every time we were in the accommodation, he made a great breakfast as well. Also check his restaurant, really worth it especially the curry. 5 minute walk to the beach

Lovely family and perfect location (Nilaveli is beautiful). Rooms are basic but all you need, beds are a little small but host offered for us to upgrade to a room with 2beds which we didn't do in the end but they're definitely approachable. Near to bus stop and beach.

È stato un bellissimo soggiorno, la camera è semplice ma pulita, i padroni di casa sono molto gentili e sempre disponibili ad aiutarti e ad organizzare attività. Al mattino mi hanno sempre offerto del te con la frutta, con una bottiglietta d’acqua. Mi sono sentita come fossi a casa!

This is a simple homestay run by a very enthusiastic host. The room is basic but comfortable and has an en suite bathroom and a ceiling fan. It is a cheap place and great value for money. The location is great. It is close to the local beach and a short tuk tuk ride to the main restaurants on the beach. In the morning they made us breakfast - roti and dahl and coconut sambal for a little bit extra.

The host and his family are very kind and helpful. The host Rafeet helped us to arrange a snorkelling tour to Pigeon Island. He also owns a restaurant that was very good and affordable. The room was large with an outlet by the bed. Location is great. Walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and a store.

The room was very hot and the ceiling fan didn’t seem to help much in cooling it down. We would have to leave the door open in the evening to try and cool the room down before trying to sleep. The bathroom was also very hot with hot water only.

Very kind - helpful - a great place to stay !

We had a pleasent stay here for 3 nights. The room was clean and spacious and had everything you need and expect for the money. There is a loved garden where you can get delicious breakfast and hang out in the shadows of the trees. The owner Rafeed owns a restaurant too, which is right around the corner and serves great seafood! Speaking about Rafeed we have to say, that he was the most welcoming host we could imagine! Since I am a Tea-Lover we got chay every evening and could sit in the garden. Rafeed also helped us with some problem we were suffering from and treated us like family. He will also help you with arranging different tours and transports, if you like. Rafeed, We wish all the best for you and your family! Hopefully we can meet again at some time!

I was a little bit to tall for the beds ;)

I recently stayed at the Hostel NR Villa Nilaveli, and I can't recommend it highly enough. The highlight of my stay was undoubtedly the exceptional kindness and care of the hostel manager, Rafid. From the moment I arrived, Rafid made me feel at home, taking the time to show me around the city and ensuring I had everything I needed. His hospitality and warmth truly made me feel like part of the family. The hostel itself is impeccably clean, and every aspect of my stay was worth the price. The rooms are comfortable, and the communal areas are well-maintained, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all guests. No había wifi

All meals are of local cuisine and coffee and tea are available. Razmi the owner is very helpful, his wife and children made me feel very comfortable. The room is cool and comfortable under the trees, and it is a 10-minute walk down to a long beautiful beach where snorkelling trips are on offer. Nilaveli is about 18 km outside of Trincomalee, but the area is serviced every half hour by Bus 900 or Tuk Tuks are available. All the locals are very friendly and greeted me every time I was out walking. The kiddies are so happy riding their bikes, I felt a bit sad leaving. A great place to recharge and chill out.

the location is very good. The Host is a wonderful host, he was always helpful and available 24 hours a day. The room itself is simple but clean and there is a sitting area outside with the garden. The owner also has a beautiful restaurant, where you can have a delicious meal, and if you don’t feel like going, they can prepare a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast for you, I highly recommend trying it What I especially liked is that you don’t have to look for anything for entertainment - the owner also provides a boat service where you can see whales, it was an amazing experience. In conclusion, I will say that if you don’t need extra luxury service and you want to spend a lot of time on the beach and explore this coast, then this is the ideal option.

The owner of the homestay was very eager to make my stay without Problems and comfortable. Super hospitable giving teas and Drinks. Super straightfotward Person. I Like IT. I recommend it to anybody coming for a authentic stay at this beautiful Village at nilaveli.
