The Chefs Cottage was the perfect location for a relaxing weekend to switch off and enjoy nature. It was beautifully decorated, and Steve was incredibly generous with his hospitality at breakfast and dinner time. I definitely recommend the 3 course dine in option!

Unique experience in a delightful location. Steve is a magnificent host offering a truly special stay. The cottage is beautifully furnished in a quiet relaxing environment. Really well worth searching out. Hope to return for a less rushed visit next time.

Need to use your own data for internet and to stream to the Tv, if you can.. An espresso machine would make the lovely breakfast perfect.

We loved the extra thoughtful touches, such as the afternoon tea put out for us when we arrived. The food was really amazing and we had a wonderful anniversary 4 course meal. Steve really looked after us.

Having access to the internet would have been a bonus - the owners are working on this though.

Our stay for one night at the Chef's Cottage was truly exceptional. The cottage felt lovingly curated in every corner. Every detail was thoughtfully chosen. A plus was that this cottage is in the country, quiet, and relaxing. The owners, Tonya and Steve, were the perfect hosts and gave us a few more travel suggestions for our New Zealand itinerary. It became an unexpected highlight of our stay. Thank you both for creating such a welcoming and inspiring retreat. And yes, even with a late arrival, Steve's dinner choice for us was super - a memorable stay in every way!

Communication, hospitality, home and enviornment were perfect for our get away before baby arrives - even better that our puppy could come along too and enjoy the space.

As I drove to the cottage I was not paying attention to the navigation, just taking in the view. I stopped at what I thought was the most gorgeous mountain side spot, the most perfect spot I’d seen in my many days of travel. After I took in the view I checked the gps for directions again. The cottage was next door. The setting is so beautifully rustic. The cottage and the surrounding area is so well-cared for but also very much under the domain of nature and her plans. Rolling hills, green grass, sheep in the field, blue skies and a soft cool breeze. The cottage was much larger than expected, gracious, open, and perfectly outfitted with a subtle, clean design. Then the host… Chef was indeed a professional. His decades of high-end hospitality and artistic style made for a relaxed, easy-going perfect getaway. Imagine decades of service and care and creation at the highest levels, all brought to his home and guest cottage - so it’s perfection but it’s home, its relaxed, kind, caring… It was hard to leave.

5 star accommodation set in rural peaceful surroundings. We stayed to celebrate our wedding anniversary and endulged on Chef Steve's 4 course meal, which was faultless. The furnishings are top quality, which makes it feel so luxurious.

A short drive from Wellington this was a lovely place to escape. A spa pool to relax and a short stroll had plenty of animals to see. Lovely hosts too.

My partner did find the couch and bed a bit low but he is quite tall- I was okay with it.

The location was amazing and piecefull. And very friends staff as well as having everything we could need.

The road and drive was are narrow and not good for lowwered cars but other than that nothing

This is a very cozy cottage and very beautiful. Steve is a very lovely person, and we would recommend "The Chefs Cottage" to friends and Family. And the welcome cookies were the best I ever tasted.

The breakfast was amazing. This was my daughter's favorite part. Location was beautiful and so peaceful. The native bird life was amazing to hear while relaxing in the spa on the deck. Hosts were very lovely and helpful. We will be returning again.

This is a wonderful rural retreat though only a 15-minute drive from Waikanae township. The open plan cottage is spacious and beautifully decorated. The hosts are friendly and provide a delicious breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.

The Cottage is better than the pictures suggest. Beautifully decorated and spacious. Everything you need and more. Steve cooked dinner for us on our second night and it was outstanding. (And Raspberries galore). We will return.

Magical peaceful oasis. Outstanding decor and ambience. Steve and Tonya and their exuberant lovely dog were so welcoming . We felt relaxed immediately. Molly, our Cavoodle , was so happy and enjoyed playing;with Raphie and tearing around the extensive property . Steve, our host and a highly awarded chef cooked our 4 course meal for us. Divine. Beautiful presentation and yummy flavours. A very special treat for my birthday. Loved the hot tub , and yummy breakfast included as well. We cannot recommend it more highly. Ralphy!!! (Dog) cutest dog ever!! Owners were lovely and were very respectful of privacy. So peaceful and relaxing. They have clearly thought of every detail, even the soap and hand wash was amazing.

From the moment you arrive you feel yourself relaxing.On arrival the hosts come to meet you&show you around.We ordered a dinner package which was so yummy.The care&detail put into this place is amazing.Lovely comfy bed,great heating&plenty for your eyes to feast on.

Breakfast was delicious. My husband really enjoyed the preserved feijoas and we both liked the home made jams.

Just needed a pot or frying pan to use on the bbq.

Lovely hosts with gorgeous pets. The sheep in particular have a beautiful story. The place is stunning, private and romantic. The bed and the sheets felt like we were in heaven. The welcome treats were appreciated and the breakfast was so yum. My partner and I said we'd never tasted croissants that good, or butter!

Located only approximately 8 minutes from Waikanae the property has a luxurious lodge feeling. Definitely has the wow factor. We woke to bird song. We had to skip breakfast but it looked amazing We would love to return.

Amazing stay at this beautiful cottage. It was warm and private and has everything you need. The hosts were lovely and accommodating. The spa pool was so nice and breakfast was delicious. Only regret is not getting the dinner package cooked by chef Steve. Highly recommend, we will be back.
