Reviewed May 25, 2026We had a wonderful stay at MAKTUB SURF HOUSE. The rooms were spacious, beautiful, and clean. Furthermore, Ester and all the volunteers were incredibly helpful. Whenever we needed assistance with anything, they helped us immediately, for example by making recommendations and arranging activities. The breakfast was also very good and fresh, with a wide variety of options to choose from.
If we had to mention one downside, it would be that the towels are only changed once every three days, and the room is only cleaned once every six days.

Reviewed May 1, 2026We loved our stay at Maktub! The kids especially loved the bunkbeds. Rooms were super nice and super clean, and we loved the view from the shared rooftop terras. The hosts were super kind and helpful. We would highly recomment staying here!

Special thanks to the staff for helping us out with planning our days and being very flexible with all our requests. Definitely recommend this accommodation if you go to Tamraght :)

We also liked the nice view from the top, the breakfast, easy parking. Car is recommend to reach the surf spots, though Banana point/devils rock would be walkable.
The breakfast was fixed to a certain time and rather early, which did also interfere with surfing. It’s a 10-15min walk to most restaurants across the hill.

Reviewed Mar 3, 2026Sehr freundliche Gastgeberin - sie war sehr hilfsbereit und hat uns jeden Wunsch ermöglicht, außerordentlich gutes Frühstück - das Beste im ganzen Urlaub! Die Lage ist gut - zu Fuß ca 7-8 Minuten in den Ort. Zum Strand ist es etwas weiter.
Es war etwas hellhörig und die Türen sehr laut.

Es war im Zimmer etwas kühl. Wir waren Ende Dezember dort. Allerdings lag es daran, dass es sehr oft geregnet hat.

Excellent wifi and views from the roof as well :) The vibe was tranquil and welcoming, and didn't feel manufactured like it often does at the trendy, surf-oriented accommodations.
Shower soap and shampoo should either be provided, or it should be noted that guests should bring their own. This would avoid waste since travel-size toiletries aren't available easily in Tamraght.

Tiene mucha alma y se ve que está hecho con amor y dedicación Esther y su pareja ( perdón, olvide su nombre 😆) estuvieron pendientes que no nos falte nada, respondieron a todas nuestras preguntas e inquietudes. Además Paul, recepcionista, también súper amable y abierto a aconsejarnos. La habitación estuvieron un 10 al igual que el desayuno! 😍

Frühstück wird auf der sehr schönen Dachterasse serviert und war jeden Tag lecker. Wir haben hier schöne Tage verlebt und können es sehr empfehlen!!

Van de geboekte taxi die ons oppikte van de luchthaven, het verblijf en het overheerlijke ontbijt tot de gevraagde activiteiten (surf en yoga). Die Betten sind etwas hart. Man kann in der Nacht die Tiere draussen hören, was aber in Marokko normal ist.

Reviewed Feb 25, 2025The hosts/owners; Esther, Alex and their team were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was lovely on the rooftop and had varied options for everyone's taste. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious. Easy to walk to local restaurants and cafes. Place to store surfboards and to hose them and wetsuits off afterwards. Recommend a visit to Tamraght Spa House for a hammam and/or massage (5 minute walk). Bear in mind local roads and paths often uneven but this adds to the charm of the area but may not be ideal if you have mobility issues. Highly recommend!

Breakfast was super nice and besides classics they had typical maroccan flat bread and amlou spread, too. They offer a 3 course dinner you can optionally book a day in advance. We ate there for new years. It was delicious. They cook(ed) everything by themselves. We loved our stay there!

During our 3 weeks in Morocco, we had the most varied breakfasts here, with a mix of Moroccan and international food, fruits, as well as many health-conscious treats. Esther went out of her way to help us with everything we needed. We travelled with our 2.5 year old and she even found a surf instructor for the baby.

Reviewed Jun 11, 2024From the beginning, communication was top - we arrived later than expected and it was no problem. The room looked exactly like the photos, nothing was broken or shabby and the shower was hot and had pressure. Everything is clean (I just love the decoration) and there were no bugs. Esther is a fabulous host, she gave us lots of good tips and recommendations about the area and restaurants. It was our first time in Marokko so she showed us how to prepare tea, she also had the biggest breakfast selection of our stay (we travelled around). We had an amazing stay, the price is unbeatable and wish we stayed longer!

Overall this place and crew create a good base for relaxing there as well for exploring the area (with which of course kind, fair support is also provided). Very likely you will enjoy it also as much as I did and several fun others I met.
Nothing to dislike, but when I encountered something that needed a fix or improvement, any request or suggestion was promptly actioned upon. Good stuff :)

We worked for a couple days and we were offered coffee and fruits during the day. The room is decorated in modern style and very clean. We recommend Maktub and we would definitely return.
The internet connection in the room is not very stable.
