Bad WiFi okay
Very dated
Hot drinks available in room. Cleanliness. Easy access with key fob.
Shower and toilet were a VERY small cubicle. Shower water was only lukewarm warm. The mattress wasn’t the most comfortable. We could hear other guests in their rooms talking klatevintobthe night so hard to get to sleep.
Location was excellent 10mins walk into city staff was very welcoming
Basic room clean decent shower ideal to explore chester fair price
Price clean friendly proximity to town good
Shower small
Very good location, cheap parking at the train station £10.40 24 hours, very short walk away. Friendly staff and we were able to check in 2 hours early. Clean and compact. Exceptional value. Great bar across the road.
Bathroom was very small.
I liked the honesty showed by the staff and cleaners.
Wasnt too sure about the area at first but it wasvety handy for the station
Near train station
Towels were dirty. The floors were terrible. Beds unprofessionally done. Noisy neighbors. Shower horrible. I think the outside could use a bit of paint
The manager was very helpfull & friendly
Hot water was just slightly warm in the shower
The property was close to the train station and the centre which made the trip have easy access.
The bedroom wasn’t ready when we arrived to check in at 2:15, after being told we can check in at 2pm, we left the room around 2:45 after getting ready and the room still wasn’t clean, we had the fear of coming back and the room not being cleaned, the toilet and shower facilities were tiny, there was no room to move and it was very claustrophobic, bed weren’t comfy, I’ve left my stay with aches all over because it wasn’t comfy at all. We’d used the cups on the Saturday morning and when the cleaners came in they didn’t provide new ones or new towels they just emptied our bin, the only good thing about this property was it was a 4 minute walk to the train station and a 10 minute walk into the centre, wouldn’t recommend at all
Good location, spacious room, friendly welcome.
Small bathroom.
Location between train station and bus station. Nearby food option. Friendly staff. Prices.
Property is very old. Bath is very small on 2nd floor.
Perfect location in Chester, just a 5 minute walk from the train station. Large, comfortable bedroom, though the bathroom is really small. The staff were really helpful when we checked in, as we were late and out of check-in time. They made it possible for us to access the premises.
Leak in the washbasin of the bathroom.
It was close to the rail station.
The filthy facade was very off putting. The inside appeared cleaner fortunately.
Centrally located just round the corner from the old town and train station. Bikes were kept secure.
Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was just what we needed for a last minute trip! Room was clean and comfortable, with WiFi included. The door system was great for going in and out easily. Great location, within walking distance of city centre and uber was available too.
Affordable, close to train station and short walk into Chester centre, easy access with fob system, friendly and polite staff. Bed was comfortable.
Very dated and basic, bathroom was very small and had a mysterious leak from behind toilet that ran into the shower so we decided to avoid the shower, bath mat was dirty. There was a musty smell throughout main hotel and in bedroom.
The location is very central and the staff are helpful
It's a lot shabbier than it looks in pictures. The walls are dirty, a lot of the furniture and decor is broken
Value for money, location, price Its clean, and appears to be well maintained. Lady handling my check in was lovely and very helpful..........
Looking a bit tired and in need of some serious TLC in places Bathroom tiny ........ While the lady handling check in was lovely the -presumably - owner came through and tried to undermine her in front of me. Not a good look - she was just trying to be helpful and really didn't deserve the reaction.
Easy distance from centre
Car wash outside
Clean,good location
Small bathroom
The room was clean and good tea making facilities. Quite near centre and near parking . Staff friendly and checked in early
Outside looks rundown and inside not very nice . Room basic but bathroom awful which really let it down . Very very small and old but clean . Area not too nice
The room itself was vert quiet and clean
An outside security light was on all night. It lit up our bedroom and we couldn't sleep in the glare of the light. The toilet/shower combo was perhaps the smallest I've ever seen. My knees knocked on the door when I sat down. I asked a polite question as to what time we should be out in the morning. The gentleman was showing a couple to a room. Instead of simply replying with one word which was all that was needed, I was told he had no time to deal with me as he was busy.
Friendly, quiet location
Nothing we didn't like. Nice budget friendly hotel
Location clean
This is a shabby, unclean and disappointing hotel that falls well below reasonable expectations. The entire building felt rundown, poorly maintained and lacking in security. The room was extremely uncomfortable and noisy, with paper-thin walls making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. The bathroom was particularly poor—it felt as though a port-a-loo had simply been attached to the side of the room. The room was on the ground floor, with the window backing directly onto a nearby estate, which did not feel particularly secure or private. To make matters worse, the sheets were stained and appeared unclean. Overall, the experience was uncomfortable, unpleasant and, in my opinion, very poor value for money. I would not recommend staying here.
Cleanliness in rooms poor, mould in shower, generally in need of attention
Comfortable rooms and location close to everything you need in Chester. Friendly and kind staff and check in/check out seamless. Recommended if you're looking for a short stay in Chester on a budget. Room was really big and clean and the beds were really comfortable. There's a double bed and a single bed in a twin room so we were really happy with that
For the price everything was good. I would usually expect to pay more especially for the size and location so it was an absolute steal. The toilet in the en suite twin was a bit small and so it was a bit of a tight squeeze to have a shower but other than that ace for price, comfort, cleanliness and location
No food was in the hotel but it was ok
The room was good just the bathroom was to small but everything else was good
Bed
Bathroom
No breakfast
The location... 5 min from town centre.
Outside of hotel was scruffy, weeds and druggies walking around. Room was a postage stamp and shower/toilet was the size of a festival porta loo. Very dirty room. Bed dipped in middle and bedding has a gazillion moth holes. Carpet not hoovered on arrival. Reception smelly and dirty and gym area scruffy. The worse hotel I stayed in. I expect better from booking.com DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL UNLESS U R DESPERATE.
1) THE LOCATION: it was perfect: 2 minute walking from train station and bus interchange station. Also only 10 min walking to historic centre, with all the attractions and restaurant/shops at walking distance. Unfortunately, the location is the only thing we liked about this hotel. 2) FREE Wi-Fi 3) STAFF: the man at reception was pleasant and approachable. Any other staff we walked past seemed smiley and nice.
EVERYTHING ABOUT THE ROOM. 1) Everything looked old and dated (carpet, furniture etc.) So even on the surface it was clean, everything still looked dirty. It was very dusty and dirty. One of the most unpleasant hotels I've ever seen in my life. 2) The bed full of hairs and crumbs. There were also stains on the side of the mattress. We decided to sleep on top of the sheets and put our t-shirt on the pillows, because we didn't feel comfortable sleeping in it. 3) The bathroom was the smallest thing ever. It's a plastic pre-fabricated pod behind a door, with the sink in the shower, and the toilet seating very uncomfortable (if sitting down, one knee would be in the shower and one knee would be touching the door). Also, no shower-gel/shampoos were provided. 4) The window wouldn't lock, and anyone could walk in from the roof/terrace outside. Didn't feel safe leaving valuables in the room. 5) Room temperature, incredibly hot. Considering price, location and size of the rooms, if the hotel underwent through proper refurbishment, it would be a great potential.
Room was very clean and spacious as expected. I thought Bathroom could have been little bigger than the current size. Bed was clean and comfortable.
nothing
Close to the city. Very nice and clean and the bed is really comfortable.
Nothing bad to report
Very comfy bed. Polite people..
Was owned by foreigners..who do not understand english culture
Very friendly host, large family room and couldn’t do anything for us.
location
the bathroom way to small, no hot water it was tidy but was very tidied needs updated badly
Amazing stay! Everything was top notch and very friendly/helpful staff
Value for money and very close to train station. The room person, she was lovely and friendly.
In room bathroom average , but acceptable
The beds were so comfortable , for the price it was very tidy and comfortable. Had a private door to get in and out the building so not to bother anyone. Very close to the centre of Chester. Even went as far with the little touches like extension leads, hairdryer, iron and board. Would stay again!
location is near the centre so no need for taxi's
The bed, the mattress was old and you could feel the springs, it needs to be replaced ASAP, so poor nights sleep. could do with the windows painting it would not take much to do, they have not been done for years.
Passable location
Bed was caved in
Location was excellent, 5 minutes from train station and 10 minute walk into centre of Chester. Staff were really helpful on arrival and we were able to check in early. Only issue was size of en-suite bathroom in room, which unfortunately was really small compared to other places we've stayed.
As above, the only issue was the size of en-suite bath room which we found to be really small compared to other places that we've stayed.
To start the review I’ll talk about the sweetest human I’ve seen working in a hotel ! I had a problem with my train running late, I contacted them telling me there’s no problem, when I arrived the guy working there was really sweet and helped me with my stuff ! The room was very good too, most of the review tells you that it’s very small, but to my opinion it’s the right size for a hotel this size. You can shower properly and the bed is very comfortable ! If I come back to Chester this would be my number one choice !
Some bird had pooped on my window, figured it was after they cleaned up the room and didn’t see it.
Location was good, staff friendly, room clean with the exception of bathroom ⁰
Bathroom was exceptionally small, shower was falling off the wall requiring maintenance, signs of mold on bottom of shower curtain and around the bottom of the door
Toilettenpapier war top. Die Betreiber sehr nett.
Das Inventar ist teilweise beschädigt. Das Zimmer war dreckig. Rechnung habe ich auf Nachfrage nicht erhalten. Kann dieses Hotel definitiv niemandem empfehlen. WLAN hat nicht funktioniert.
Very tired and dated decor. Bed was clean
Threadbare carpet. Bathroom was plastic. Not even a towel rail and not very nice
Location to the train station and cafes.
The bed head was downhill but ok once we had put a duvet under the mattress.
We were greeted by a nice man who was very helpful, our room wasn’t ready but he allowed us to leave our bags and gave us the key to the room.
When we did get to the room it was very small, the carpet was stained and needed cleaning, the quilt had hairs on it. And the bathroom was tiny made out of plastic and looked like it needed a good clean. It was a very warm night no fans where available so we had to sleep with the window wide open, it was very noisy which I know is not the hotels fault but if there had of been fans available we wouldn’t of had to have the window wide open.
Very pleasant room and comfortable bed. welcoming staff.
Location to station
The rooms were basic with small bathrooms. The outside would benefit drom and upgrade
Value for money, location spot on . Will not get valye gor what you paying .
Nothing its , clezn , was worried because of tje price but its clean
Hotel was clean with friendly helpful staff.
Too much vegetation (weeds) at the front of the property.
Close to train station and to the city
Clean and spacious
Great location
Nothing - it was a disaster. A dreadful hotel
Our recent experience of this hotel was that nothing provided as information via Booking.com or the Lloyds hotel website could have prepared us for the very grubby and unkempt exterior of the hotel, the lack of anywhere for visitors to meet and relax and no breakfast provision (as stated on both websites). We were told that our rooms were in a small terrace house two doors down. We entered through a main door with a badly fitted yale lock and crumbling door frame that left us feeling very unsafe. The rooms were fairly clean, but the shower curtains were filthy, and toilet fittings were falling off. The beds were hard and uncomfortable, and the pillows were lumpy and very old. When we asked why breakfast was advertised but not provided, we were told this is Booking.com at fault. The proprietor was not interested at all in our concerns, and we were informed by a local café owner that Lloyds is known as the worst hotel in Chester. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone – avoid it at all costs.
Location
Being on the top floor at our age not good
Great people running the place. Couldn't have been more helpful.
There was nothing I didn't like!
Close to the train station
Old building
Everything was good, friendly staff, really comfortable bed and very clean
Just would of like more teabags sugar and milk😁
Helpful staff and good location.
Room was too hot due.to heatwave, however, we were given a fan to use on the second day. This would have been iseful on the first day though!
Lovely friendly hosts. Very comfortable beds & pillows. Spotlessly clean Very easy close parking at the station Great local The Stanley , good value & very entertaining
No sockets near the beds. Very hot with no fan in room. Noisy hand car wash opposite. Quite a busy road.
Location, bright comfortable room
Nothing
Very helpful and polite staff when checking in with my busy schedule before a wedding. I was made to feel very welcome
Very disappointing stay. The room was extremely small and not properly cleaned, with dusty bed sheets and poor overall hygiene. The toilet was leaking, and we had to use towels to stop the water spreading. When we reported the issue to reception, we were simply told to use more towels rather than having the problem fixed. There was also little to no ventilation, constant noise from outside, and the advertised Wi-Fi was not available during our stay. Overall, the hotel needs significant improvements in cleanliness, maintenance, and customer service. I would not stay here again and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Bed was very comfortable. Gentleman on the front desk who showed me to my room was very polite.
I'm not a big guy but a shower, sink and toilet squeezed into a 2m × 70cm box is not easy to use. Sit on the toilet and your knees are crammed under the sink. Totally unacceptable for a hotel to function like this.
Room had been refurbished bit lacked furniture
Room nice but hotel interior and exterior not finished, no bar, dining area that i notived
stayed here as close to centre for the races. Staff really helpful and allowed us to leave our cases in the room so we didn't have to go back at check in time. can see they have recently taken over and still making changes and upgrading rooms. they don't have parking but you can use your parking space to find parking close by.
Nice place and I enjoyed my stay. The cleaning lady was really nice.
Rather dated hotel but good value and close to train station
Squeaky sign right outside number 44. Check that it's fixed. Specially if its windy
The !ocation for the train station was very good.
Your website said breakfast, but that was non existent, it was very shabby and impersonal, didn't see any other guests, the lady on reception on our arrival was ok. The shower was so small you had to dry yourself outside it.
Very friendly staff, clean room and comfy bed. Great location right in the heart of Chester. Hotel was very quiet during the night both from other guests and traffic outside. Good sized room
The only complaint I would have is that the bathroom area is very very small.
Faultless.
Liked everything
Handy location, only a short stroll into the city centre. Friendly welcome from the lady on reception. Fresh, clean smell throughput the property. Comfortable bed. Good value for money.
The hotel frontage needs a spruce up. A fresh kick of paint would do wonders. The room had cobwebs over the window.
Lovely room staff so friendly
Nothing
Super close to the train station. Large room, plenty of space for suitcases. Lovley staff.
Bathroom was very small, and did have a few nicks and bumps in the walls and floors. No spare sockets.
Proximity to train station, cheap enough for a single night if you didn’t want to stay in the room long. Towels lovely and fresh.
Bedding had holes in & numerous black hairs all over and was very worn & bobbled. Window a struggle to open and wasn’t safe to use when a child in the room (old style push-up window which could easily drop back down). WiFi wasn’t working at all & very poor phone signal (that’s no fault of the hotel though).
Please try to always clean the room and ensure there are fridges in the room
The location
Ideal price, location just what we needed
Stayed in one of the best rooms i was told by the man on reception... It was a really nice big room, with its own bathroom and TV and double bed, and a small table and chairs facing the window which was a bonus... I really enjoyed my stay here and I would stay again, i would ask for the same room as it was a good room and hotel had a central location only 9 mins from the centre....
Not much really, maybe a bigger shower gel as it ran out on day one and we had another day...
Good location, comfortable room, clean.
Apart from the receptionist who was really sweet and helped us check in a little late I didnt liked anything.
The property is poorly maintained. The washroom was so small that I couldn't even open my arms to wipe myself out. The washroom was not even clean infact. The bedsheets had marks on them, pillows were without covers a lot of air freshener was sprayed in the room.
Very close to city center, and railway
Nothing to be honest
Very friendly warm welcome. Very caring. Great value great place. Highly recommended
Didn't find anything I didn't like
The bed had hairs in I didnt stay the night i dropped keys and came out
I didnt feel comfortable
Location near station Not to far from town
Dated bit rundown
I did think for the price that breakfast was included, but it wasn't.
Very outdated, but clean the shower and toilet unit leaked when we flushed the toilet,we was given another room, but it was the same in that room.
