Really well placed for Chester city centre. The breakfast was good with a decent choice of cereals and a the hot food was decent. The restaurant and bar areas are very nice. The staff were all helpful and friendly. Our room was clean and a decent size. It was quite noisy as it was on the main road but it didn't bother me as I'd got my earplugs!
The lift seemed a bit temperamental at times, going up even though you'd pressed to go down! It meant there were queues built up at busy times like breakfast.
Good location in that it was close to the town centre. The room was very nice. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Food was very good too.
There wasn’t any zero alcohol drinks available.
Like its location and the parking is good if you are there in time.
Nothing to do with hotel but a short cut to the city has been left to over grow so you have to go a bit further but not hotels fault
Good location as it is not a long walk to the city centre. Parking is a bonus these days. Excellent value for money.
The two chairs in the room were extremely uncomfortable when wanting to sit and read for more than half-an-hour. I reckon the shower was installed in the 1980s! Upgrade needed in that mixer taps should be standard and not the 'old-fashioned' separate cold and hot taps.
Size of room, that it had coffee, tea, biscuits and an electric kettle, tv was easy to use, access to gym and swimming pool. Great location right on the mill. We ate in both the bar and restaurant in the two evenings we stayed and the food was excellent, good portions, very tasty and good value. Happy with the breakfast and good choice of food. Staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. Would definitely recommend it and would definitely stay there again.
The coffee in the morning. Missed my cappuccino but the breakfast tea was good.
Always stopped at the Mill, like the location near canal & not to far from shops ect.
Decor needs updating , & breakfast disappointing.
Liked everything although room was a bit dark
Window high making room dark
Location
Rooms are rather dated and small and dark. I was working and when I checked in the room smelt of smoke and The hotel was full, so could not be offered a pleasant smelling room. Also you have to book a breakfast slot which I could not make as was too late in the am, therefore I paid for breakfasts I could not attend. Would not recommend.
Absolutely loved the hotel and all the facilities. This hotel is walking distance from all the shops and if you want a local pub. The spa was just amazing and very clean. Canal boats go by the hotel and they are lovely to watch
The shower wasn't the best but still managed to wash
Location, comfort, friendly staff and access to pool.
No fridge in room. Breakfast pretty basic.
We love this hotel the reception staff and the cleaner we had for rm 428 was very pleasant it’s also in a fab location and parking for the car
Didn’t think the rm was worth wot we payed and one member ov staff in the dining room was rude
Friendly staff, good breakfast choice, nice room.
No air con but did have a fan in room
Great location ,spa was really nice
room and bath staff very friendly except for one. reception staff in particular were amazing resolving any issues
no comfortable lounge with easy chairs to sit and read and chat. One member of staff on sunday he was the bar manager. we were watching the warm up to the grand prix and suddenly he changed the channel to man utd v everton. when we asked why bearing in mind we werent the only ones to be watching the GP he said he couldnt run 2 different screens other residents said the previous day rugby and football was on different screens. I went up and stated this fact and said we as were others were watching the GP and he stated he couldnt run 2 systems together and he was watching football and thats what he did for the whole time during the match. The following day Monday 7th he was in charge of the breakfast when we arrived he greeted us with name? no good morning he then turned and walked away expecting us to follow but didnt say before we arrived at our table he said drinks? not what would you like and then turned and walked away. We were all surprised by his attitude and obviously hadnt attended customer service lessons. I went and reported hime to a young lady behind reception and she said someone would have a word with him.
Great location, 5 mins walk from railway station and town centre. Great swimming pool. Very clean and comfortable bedroom.
Very close to a nousy road. Not as peaceful as the name 'Mill Hotel' suggests. It is adjacent to a narrow canal but the road dominates. The breakfast choices ciyld have been better.
Love the location, atmosphere, staff can’t do enough for you. We had the breakfast and also ate in the restaurant in the evening the food was top notch. I wish I had got the name of the member of staff in the restaurant, he remembered our names from the morning to the evening, he was fab at his job and didn’t stop.
There’s not much to dislike , the only issue I found was the copious amount of dust in the radiator in our room, other than that the rest was lovely and clean.
Great location from train station and to the city centre. Lovely staff. Fabulous facilities.
The view from our room window on to the low roof and car park. Pillows a tad uncomfortable.
Location & facilities
Room, although clean, looking tired.
Staff were very friendly. Very central
Very comfortable bed ..do think .net curtains would help we was in a lower room. With balconies over looking our room so had to close curtains during day ..
All good
Muy bueno
Lovely location very near bus station and city centre
N/A
Close to the city and wright by the cannel .
No hair dryer. No fridge .
Staff sorted out an issue quickly and pleasantly. Second room more than made up for allocated room we were given initially. Lovely outlook onto canal. Breakfast was busy but staff sorted so wait time not long.
All good
Nice friendly staff on reception and in the bar. Good canal side location
The room was quite small, no AC, no hook for towels in the bathroom, limited space in bathroom.
Friendly Great location on canal side.
Room was very hot and airless with windows that only opened a fraction of the. There was a fan provided. No bottles of water provided.
We loved everything about this hotel, and we will definitely be back, great central location, lovely food, fantastic buffet breakfast, and all the staff we dealt with were lovely & helpful PLUS the bar was cheaper than the local pubs

Good location
This is a bit petty, but I like my toast hot, and is was not, I think you should invest in a toaster that guest can use themselves.
A very nice hotel. Only a few minutes walk to the town centre shops. Close to the station. A very comfortable room. A good choice at breakfast.
Nothing to dislike.
Everything. Brilliant food. Lovely hotel on a canal. Very clean. Friendly staff
Nothing
Central to Chester on the canel. Staff were friendly bar prices were reasonable. Room was clean upon arrival.
The fact there is only 1 lift & the walls were really thin. I had to get my door keys reset 3 times. Charging 12 pound a day for parking is a joke.
The staff were friendly and professional. The room was a good size and clean.
The lift was terrible. It was slow and took a long time to arrive once called. The breakfast was awful
breakfast superb very clean rooms and hall, tv was a problem room 433 tv very old and dark couldnt adjust. pillows were old and thin and no spare but big comfy bed and room
Good breakfast options, reception staff were friendly.
Room was very dated, bed frame had stains and the mattress was completely worn out with visible sink holes. Chair in room was also completely sunken. Bathroom was very old. Requested to move rooms but was told there were none available, housekeeping put a duvet on top of the mattress which did not help and resulted in a very uncomfortable nights sleep. I complained on check out and was given a refund of the parking charge and offered a complimentary upgrade for next booking which is a waste as I wont be booking again.
The location this property was perfect what we needed shops trains buses everything we wanted
The reception staff were lovely very polite and helpful. The atmosphere was nice and we ahd a really lovely stay. The breakfast was very nice as well.

Very expensive food
Great location and lovely setting. Room was tiny but good breakfast and spa was very convenient thanks to early opening times
My sister and I enjoyed our one-night stay; family room so plenty of space. Warm welcome from reception staff. Lovely to have a swim before breakfast. Breakfast was fab; my sister is coeliac; the servers were knowledgeable and accommodating. Easy to find; easy to park (cost £12 until 1pm so we were able to go and explore the city after we had checked out). Excellent location; good value for money.
Staff were friendly. Nice hotel
It wasn't the cleanest, bathroom especially. and the rooms were boiling. No hairdryer. No air con.
Food was nice. Also the pool.
Love the Mill great location
Very dated in the part where we stayed
Great hotel quite versatile
Paying for parking per car it was £12
Staff professional
Paid quite a lot extra for supposed upgragrad room. Was exactly the same as basic room I booked previously apart from a useless bed sofa. Room next to busy main road, very noisy traffic, room very hot, no air conditioning so had to keep window open and therefore unable to sleep most of the night. We were both shattered next day. TV had no remote control, tried operating from push buttons, no joy, wouldn't switch on. Bathroom ceiling had lots of black mold in corners, really bad. Our second stay, so dissatisfied paying extra for what I thought was better room. Might be looking for alternative hotel in Chester next time.
:Spa was very good :Breakfast was good :Staff were very pleasant and really helpful :Location excellent, everything within easy walking distance
I found £12 a day parking really steep/ it's the first time I've ever had to pay for parking.
Breakfast was poor not much variety and cold the hotel was fab and in a good position
The breakfast
All good
No dislikes other than parking charge
Location, close to town, bars & restaurants.
Access to Pool facilities awkward, just a bit of simple communication could solve this.
Good location . Reasonable rooms. Spa was good
Outdoor areas very limited comfort. Room rate same for one person as for two so pricey for a single person
Clean, relaxed, only 5 min to centre

The lovely friendly atmosphere. We had a room overlooking canal which was very peaceful except for the occasional quacking of the ducks. Breakfasts amazing and good choices.
Room was very warm
Everything except the room.
The room 206 is a one night stay, no room to put clothes, storage or valuables away, lived out of suitcase , not what we expected discussed with reception no other rooms available, spoilt the hotel stay.
The location was excellent and pool and spa facilities great.
We asked for a room as close to facilities as possible due to reduced mobility. At check in we were told we have been given a room as near as possible. In reality there were only 2 more rooms further away from everything than ours. This made the visit difficult for someone with walking difficulties.
Location
Rooms dated
Location
Horrible that my room, no ventilation, tiny bathroom, terrible sound insulation to all adjacenies next to above and below . Dreadful . Will never stay again
location
breakfast
Location by the canal is excellent. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Bedroom was very comfortable and clean and breakfast was very good. The car park was very secure but having to pay for parking at a hotel you are staying at doesn’t seem reasonable.
The bedroom was too hot with no ability to turn the heat down.
Good location good bar with football on tv friendly staff
Small bathroom
Location and swimming pool
Not clean , room floors not hoovered , large crack in sink, toilet flush not working correctly. Very warm in rooms no air conditioning and just a 2speed table fan which was useless
Location was great. Breakfast good.
Very few toiletries in bathroom. Soap dispenser near sink empty.
Nice clean comfortable room and hotel in great location. A nice breakfast and sunday lunch was really good to! The pool and spa facilities are a bonus if you want to relax and unwind. I have stayed here a few times now and will be my choice of hotel when i return to Chester.
Nothing i always enjoy my stay at this hotel.
Location, breakfast, dining room, dining staff.
Thick dust on the shelving/wooden panelling in room, around the bed head. Scum around the taps in the bathroom, particularly hot tap. No info on spa facilities or promotion of spa. Uncomfy hard mattress, hard pillows.
Location was great and the facilities were really good. Breakfast both mornings was excellent.
Our bathroom was very dated. We had a shower over the bath but there was no shower screen or curtain which meant the bathroom floor was always wet.
The Mill & Spa Hotel is our favorite place to stay when we visit Chester, which we do often. The hotel is spotless and the staff on reception, the housekeepers and in the restaurant are absolutely the best and really seem to enjoy working there. The rooms are pleasant with comfortable mattresses and the buffet style breakfast is just grand. It's always a pleasure to stay there, so many thanks guys, we'll see you again soon.

Was very convenient for the bus and easy walk into the centre of Chester
Location
Dated needs a refurb
We always stay at mill it is a lovely hotel, staff great, food lovely, location fantastic

Loved the location: an easy walk along the canal into the city centre. Reception staff were very friendly and welcoming. Check in/check out was a breeze. The room was comfortable and spacious. We used the pool, jacuzzi and sauna: all were a welcome end to our day walking around Chester!
I liked that the hotel staff were very friendly and very helpful, the breakfast was lovely too the beds were comfortable and the room was clean and everything was within walking distance
There wasnt anything we didn't like we are definitely going back
We had a very Nice coffee ☕️ when we arrived staff very helpful
We would have like some sunbed type sitting in the pool area if that's possible But understand not always possible Our pillows were lumpy
Nice evening meal and breakfast. Lovely swimming pool and facilities.Freindly and helpful staff.
The bed was a little uncomfortable, and bedroom quite hot..
Great location . Good breakfast
Lift broke down while we were in it . On departure a member of staff was a bit rude for no reason . General maintenance of the building could be improved . The hotel has a lot of potential to be a higher star if some cosmetic upgrades in the rooms take place .
Free use of the pool and spa. Great breakfast. Comfy beds.
The room was pretty hot but a fan was provided.
Whole package was value for money - friendly and helpful staff.
Arrived just after 11 but couldn’t get into room until 3 pm.
Nothing
The beds and pillows were extremely uncomfortable, which made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. The room itself was dirty and very outdated, and the overall standard was disappointing. Additionally, the exterior canal lights remained on throughout the night, causing a significant amount of light to enter the room and making it even more difficult to sleep. The breakfast was very sparse, with very little choice available. The selection could be significantly improved to offer guests more variety. It would also be much more convenient to have a self-service tea and coffee machine available, rather than having to rely on staff to prepare these drinks.
Its location and pool
The room we had 237 , was very old fashioned, dated , noisy and hot , basic to say the least . This room is not on the pictures on the website .
The location was lovely on the canal, close to station and shops , but yet quiet . The Spa was also good to help relaxing and not over crowded. .
Our room was at the back of the hotel room 406 , it was so hot in there and the fan didn't make much difference. We had to open the window but it was very noisy with the sound of the very busy main road , so we had to close it for getting to sleep
The reception staff were amazing. Location was fab right in the centre, easy access to everything
sadly we had a room on the front and it was very noisy previously we have had a room over looking the canal and this was perfect.
Staff are great and a good choice of food
I could not get an invoice. apparently as i had booked with a subsidiary of Booking .com although nothing in Booking .com told me i had used this method. This has put me off staying there and we did stay most weeks
We've stayed here a couple of times now, the staff are great, the hotel is lovely, the pool is fab and never too busy on a weekend, breakfast very nice. Perfect for a Chester Town Centre stay. The photos are from The Cavern of the Curious Gnome (meat and cheese platter) and Brewskis, both excellent choices for food, the GF coconut beer (Mongozo) is from Beer Heroes, it tastes like Pina Colada.
Nothing really, we booked late and got the last room on the bank holiday weekend so we were in a specially adapted room that had been released, it was bigger than a normal classic and very well set up.
The hotel is in a good, convenient location, which was one of the main positives for us. The rooms were of an acceptable standard and comfortable enough for our stay, although they could benefit from some updating and refurbishment. Overall, we had a good stay and the hotel met our needs.
The main issue was the lack of flexibility around room changes and the rather outdated booking system. My partner had booked and paid for an additional night at the hotel the evening before my arrival. We explained the situation when I arrived and also made the hotel aware that my partner was unwell on the second day, so it would have been particularly helpful if we could have moved into the new room as soon as one became available. Despite this, there seemed to be very little flexibility in allowing us to move from one room to another before the usual 3pm check-in time. After quite a lot of discussion, we eventually managed to agree a midday room change. What should have been a relatively straightforward request became unnecessarily complicated, particularly as we were already staying at the hotel and simply needed to move to a room that had been vacated. The hotel appeared to rely quite heavily on an old-fashioned paper-based system for managing bookings, which seemed to make the process more difficult than it needed to be. More generally, we found there was very little flexibility from staff or willingness to go the extra mile to help resolve relatively simple issues. The breakfast booking system was another frustration and felt unnecessarily restrictive. A little more flexibility, a more customer-focused approach and a more modern booking system would significantly improve the overall guest experience.
Facilities were excellent we did use the pool space and sauna.
No toilet brush in the bathroom No iron or ironing board they would have been a good addition to the room. The full English breakfast was average definitely room for improvement on the ingredients used
Location and clean comfortable bed with decent breakfast
Location and character plus convenience of secure parking
Beautiful hotel loved the gym and Spa. Quiet location but near the centre.
Gym equipment could have been better updated.
Location very central
Everything was great
Decent enough for the price, a nice enough pool and spa facilities.
As a family of 4 we had 1 double bed, one single bed and a sofa bed. The sofa bed was so uncomfortable that we just shaded the other beds. We were in room 343, the sofa bed really isn’t usable.
The room was very clean and the bed was comfy.
Breakfast not cooked very well.
This hotel is great value for money. A short 5 min walk into the city centre and really close to all the major tourist spots. Breakfast and bar meals were amazing. Staff were all really friendly.
The room decor could do with updating and the bed was a little uncomfortable for my specific liking.
Location for what we wanted. Room(s) were spacious and well presented. Meals (evening and breakfast) were excellent.
Parking was a little challenging!
The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The room was clean and warm and the bed was very comfy. The location was great for walking into town.
Our particular room was overlooking the main road which wasn't a major problem but there was a bit of traffic noise and, obviously, the view wasn't great. Also, the parking area was always pretty full when we arrived back and there didn't seem to be a "Plan B" if there were no spaces left.
Breakfast very good and plentiful
Bathroom a little outdated
Its location was perfect
A bit of detail needed with net curtains as ripped
Location good, breakfast good, the room was too hot
Room too hot, no view except a roof, a vibration hum from a chimney/extractor on the roof that was annoying
Lovely hotel .
Room was small so we have upgraded for our next booking
Location
The breakfast was below average. Tables and chairs were strange. Room was small and dated.
