Was set up for 1 person although booking is X2. Although new towel was provided. Was noise in night as room was next to stairs. No view but was only there to potter in town. Small fridge would be nice and complimentary water. Price reasonable for Chester but still high but was weekend prices

Reviewed Sep 6, 2026Staff & Cleanliness: The staff was incredibly friendly, and the entire guesthouse was super clean. Welcome: The check-in and reception were very welcoming and smooth and I got an upgrade, which was super nice.
Bed Size: The bed was very comfortable, but quite small (under 2 meters long and around 120 cm wide). It was perfectly fine for me traveling alone. However, I was told at check-in that this was normally a double room. To be honest, I would not want to share a bed of this size with another person. Shower: In the evening, the shower only had cold water. It is highly possible I just did not understand the mechanism of the electric pump, as the water was warm the next morning. Windows: A big downside for me was that the windows could not be opened. As someone with mild claustrophobia, this makes me a bit anxious, especially in smaller rooms like this. I also always prefer to air out the room in the morning for my own comfort and for the sake of housekeeping.

Reviewed Aug 16, 2026There’s lots of places to stay in Chester and we visit a couple of times a year. The Ormonde Guesthouse is the only place we’ve stayed at twice. Always clean and comfortable, the owner clearly takes a lot of pride in the property and it shows. Car park round the corner and great location for visiting Chester centre.

Reviewed Aug 10, 2026Dobré místo kousek od vlakového nádraží a 10 minut od centra. Ve stejném ubytování jsme nocovali dvakrát během týdne a vždy jsme byli ochotně ubytováni dřív, než byl oficiální check-in. Jinak velmi dobrý standard.
Koupelna byla opravdu maličká. Vzhledem k tomu, že ubytování bylo bez stravování, hodila by se lednička i mikrovlnka, na druhou stranu tam byla možnost přípravy čaje i kávy.

Reviewed Jul 25, 2026I have stayed at the Ormonde guesthouse in Chester before and it was exactly as i remembered it. Clean, well appointed, secure and in an amazing location. The staff ensure you know everything you need to upon arrival and then you are good to go! Special mention about the beds... They are the best i think i may have have slept on at a guesthouse! Excellent place to stay and i will be staying again very soon!

Just one tiny downside which probably wouldnt of mattered if we hadnt of had such hot weather during my stay and that was no mini fridges provided fo r the rooms. Would of been so handy for keeping some things cool in the heatwave.

Ze względu na temperatury jakie były w czasie kiedy byłem był odczuwalny i to bardzo brak klimatyzacji. Okno pokoju cały dzień w słońcu plus pierwsze piętro powoduje że w pokoju jest bardzo ciepło - za ciepło.

Reviewed Jun 20, 2026Excellent location, close to the train station and centre. Room was basic but a comfortable bed and had everything we needed for a 2nt stay. Guy on reception was lovely, let us check in early. Late night takeaway and taxi rank opposite. Fair price and I would return.
Not the end of the world but as we stayed over a bank holiday when we checked out on the Sunday at 10.30am we had to take our cases as it was closing until Tues. It would have been nice to leave them and collect end of day but only a small inconvenience for us.

He explained the door-locking system, which was very helpful as the reception is unmanned after 8.30pm and I was attending a concert that evening and would be arriving back quite late. They also upgraded my room to a Double room at no extra cost. The room was pleasant and the WiFi was easily accessible. Overall, no complaints. I would definitely stay here again if I was visiting the area.

Location in downtown Chester- had sex shop opposite. Live music in the evening but finished by 10 pm. As a lone female, felt slightly apprehensive when walking back to the area in the evening.

Reviewed Jun 18, 2026The place had been renovated so that everything works perfectly. Even extra windows have been installed to block the traffic noise. It is within a quick 3-minute stroll from the railway station, and not far from the city centre either.
The neighbourhood looks a bit worn out, but you should not be afraid of that. This guesthouse really is worth the little money you pay.

Rooms are a good size, very clean and equipped with tea/coffee, etc. A good location near the train station and not too far from Chester centre. There is parking at the train station very reasonably priced for an overnight stay. We'll definitely recommend and return. Breakfast at the station was lovely and also reasonably priced.

Realy liked this guesthouse and would stay again. Only problem was there are no parking facilities and double yellow lines out side the Guesthouse, however, this is ideal if comming on the train as situated just outside the tran station.

Was at the back (room 2 double bed) and it was so quiet. I slept really well. Tea/coffee tray/kettle. Man was very helpful and nice. Loads of eating places close by and in city centre. Got lovely bacon sandwich from the cafe on the left heading into the Teaco. Amazing value in comparison to other hotels for Bank Holiday Single female..would stay again and.felt safe at all times... Thank you
