LA ATENCIÓN ES DE 10, EL DESAYUNO SUPER RICO Y LA UBICACIÓN A UNAS CUANTAS CUADRAS DEL CENTRO. ES LA 2da VEZ QUE NOS HOSPEDAMOS Y ESPERAMOS SEGUIRLO HACIENDO.
Ubicació i zones comuns
Lavabo obsolet i ventilació de l’habitació
The room was very spacious and clean. The bed was huge (we had the junior suite). Breakfast was good and the staff were really helpful (especially Wil!) the hotel is located in a quiet street with a short walk to the main shopping/restaurant area. Very good value for money and we’d happily return.
The only issue was the room was very stuffy, even with windows open (because the grounds are enclosed). We didn’t need AC but it would have been great to have an electric fan in the room.
El HOTEL es Muy bonito tiene buena decoración
Que me cobraron de manera anticipada a las semanas me contactaron queriendo hacerme un cambió de habitación de manera interna te cobran con tiempo quieren cambiarte de habitacion
The traditional apartment was wonderful. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything you would need. There was a big dining table and seating area. The decor was quirky with a piano (not tuned!) and a very old television. The bedroom and bed was very comfortable. TV in bedroom and WiFi great. Bathroom and shower with soap etc great. The terrace and furniture was a bonus and a lovely small garden. Staff were quick to poor the nice coffee at breakfast and offer refills. The owners are very friendly. Most of the staff were great too. I had a nice stay in the apartment and the price was good value for the space. Great location.
I wasn't advised how to get in or out of the apartment at check-in. It has it's own entrance which the owner later advised me. Breakfast was a total mystery. My first morning i explained I was staying there, I was given the wrong menu so had to pay for breakfast. It was lovely but I hadn't budgeted for it. The second morning I showed my keys and asked for the free breakfast menu. If you like eggs that's great. Being vegetarian I had to help the staff to offer me a free alternative. I was given toasted rolls, butter and jam (Google translate is so helpful!). I ended up leaving some money for it as I had no idea if it was free as it wasn't on the free menu. The third morning, same issue. I was offered the rolls (fine) and a few bits of fruit which were not free. Hence a complete mystery! I spoke to the manager but with no resolve. Being a cold time of year, I was very cold in the morning and evenings. I'm used to some kind of heating, for example a small gas heater would have helped in the bedroom.
- camera ben organizzata - hotel nuovo, ristrutturato in modo eccellente - colazione buona - giardino interno - disponibilita' dell'Host - posizione centrale
- camera non enormi ma molto ben organizzate
Lovely hôtel, good breakfast. Top service from Alexandra and Anthony. Generous and warm welcome, available to make us feel at home.
Súper limpio
Nada que agregar, nuestra estancia fue excelente.
BUEN SERVICIO HABITACION BIEN EL DESAYUNO TAMBIEN, LA SEÑORITA DE RECEPCION FUE MUY AMABLE.
SOLICITÉ MI FACTURA Y JAMAS PUDIERON GENERARLA, ME PARECE QUE NO ES UN BUEN SITIO PARA ALOJARSE SI REQUIERES FACTURA.
Tutto , accoglienza luogo posizione e pulizia
The location is perfect (short stroll to centre of town) in a quiet street. There is a lovely reception area with a place to sit and a beautiful garden courtyard where breakfast is served each morning. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Rooms are clean and very comfortable. I highly recommend Hotel Ocho Barrios if you're coming to San Cristobal de las Casas and would definitely stay here again! We decided to stay an extra 2 nights.
I can't think of anything!
The apartment is really great, though bad smelling for humidity
The double room is quite small.
This was a nice, small boutique hotel close to the center of town but away from the noise. The water pressure was great along with the temperature. The rooms were clean with soaps and towels. The manager was very understanding and accommodating when we complained about some of the noises that were going on on our first night and offered to move our group to quieter rooms away from the front. A basic eggs and protein breakfast was also provided along with coffee or juice with bread. There's no AC in the rooms so check weather before arrival. November was nice & cool so we didn't need AC. Overall, our group had a great experience staying here and will return if we ever come back to SanCris.
Towels were hung dry so they were rough & had a smell.
Great location, comfortable beds, hot shower, nice breakfast and friendly staff
Everything was good 😊
Good breakfast and great staff
Staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. We also enjoyed the delicious breakfast each morning and loved the convenient location close to major attractions."
Liked everything
The hotel facilities were comfortable and nicely decorated. The owner was kind and allowed us to do early check in after a long bus trip, for a very reasonable fee. The breakfast was delicious and Amauri the waiter was super attentive. The internet was fast for remote work/ zoom calls and the location was a short walk to the town..lovely boutique hotel! We definitely enjoyed our one week stay
Bed mattress a bit uncomfortable
The staff was very nice, breakfast was delicious, the location was fantastic.
Nothing.
The hotel staff were so welcoming and friendly - Antonio and Fidel both went above and beyond to make our stay special! They also upgraded our room to suite as our original room was under maintenance which was appreciated
We organised some tours with the help of the hotel. Whilst the tours were amazing, the guides only spoke Spanish which limited our experience a little. But we were grateful for Antonio organising it for us so we had no stress
We really liked our stay. The staff was very very helpful with any matter to make our stay better and comfortable. The breakfast area (terrace/garden) had a great morning atmosphere to start our day. The location is great as it is a few minutes away by feet from the main street. They helped us booking tours (at good prices!) We loved our time there and we would stay there again if we come back.
Breakfast (included in our price, continental) was the same every day. You could order other dishes like scrambled eggs but at an extra cost.
The staff were beyond lovely and caring. The hotel is in a beautiful setting with a nice courtyard. The breakfast is the perfect setup for the day.
The Wifi was poor in the rooms, but hardly a complaint, just an observation.
The garden and layout are nice.
The “breakfast” was okay but meagre: coffee and a small bowl of fruit and yogurt. Also I thought it very strange that there are no locks on the doors to the rooms.
The property was beautiful, very friendly and welcoming staff. They were super helpful with looking into various tours and means of transport for us. The property was always super clean. It had a lovely garden and patio to relax in.
The hotel is in an excellent location for travelers. You can easily reach the main plaza after a 10 minute walk. Restaurants and bars are also a short walk away. The hotel is clean, provides purified drinking water for guests, and has such charming decor. The manager, Antonio, truly goes above and beyond to be helpful and welcoming.
My only remark is that the breakfast was a bit light for my liking. What is served is delicious, fresh fruit with yogurt and bread with marmalade but I typically need a bit more to eat in the morning. They did say you can purchase eggs if you’d like.
Very peaceful and comfortable
Rooms are very nice, back yard is a nice bonus to relax in, the staff was fantastic and very helpful with all our needs. Breakfast was continental as described.
We stayed 4 nights and it would have been nice to have our room cleaned once. We didn't know you needed to put out a sign to have it cleaned and when we did, it still wasn't cleaned.
The staff were great, especially Alejandra. Location was good.
However there were just things missing. In the bathroom they had an all in one soap and shampoo and no conditioner. There was no water in our room, just a coffee pot with the sugar ect but filtered water in room. Would have to go to lobby to fill up water. Small thing but the shower head was just a simple one and not a wow hotel shower head. There were not the usual spread of towels, no hand towel and only one towel per person in room. Usually women use 2 if they have long hair ect. Only 2 pillows in room. No extra blankets for in case it got cold. No ceiling fan/any fan when it was hot. It just wasn't thoughtfull. The family room we were in wasnt private enough, had outdoor space but only a table and two chair for one of the room on that side to use at one time. Plugs aren't in convenient places. Doesn't have access to kitchen even though it ambiguously seemed there would be a fridge available to guest. So we had to ask every night for a refrigerated medicine to be brought out. No ice available. The curtains are ugly and you only have a choice to black out light and no sheet option for during the day to keep some privacy and let in light. No towels or lounge chairs to lay out in the lawn. One of our rooms did't have side tables for the beds, no dresser/closet to hang clothes. I dont want to say needed a feminine touch but it needed something.
Super location and super nice/kind and helpful staff. Especially welcoming manager Antonio. Walking distance to everything. Around the corner from the beautiful and cozy Andador Guadalupano for a nice stroll through the historic centre and the continuation to the Andador de Santo Domingo and the Mercado de Artesania. Strolling minutes from the hotel in other directions through the picturesque streets, lots to see and a visit to the Museum Na Bolom is a must, especially if you intend to visit the archeological sites (Palenque etc) as you will find a lot of history about the excavations here. Will definitely come back
Continental breakfast was less than basic but OK to start the day.
The hotel is beautifully decorated and everyone that works there is kind and helpful. We felt very secure as you need a code to enter the building and they lock the larger door after 10 pm. Antonio helped us get tours, taxis and provided a map of the city. The hotel has plenty of hot water.
The breakfast was very light and the room was a little small, but it met our needs for a great price.
The hotel is very nice and cozy. We stayed in the apartment, which was way bigger than we expected and had an amazing porch and garden. The main street of San Cristóbal is easily walkable. Antonio is an amazing host. One of our best hotel experiences ever. Highly recommend it.

I loved how friendly and helpful the staff was during my stay. The location is perfect.
Very helpful and friendly
A bit cold at night.
Great location and a family run business. Rooms are lovely with gardens and really nice breakfast.
The staff were exceptional!
The hotel was somewhat in a state of disrepair. Things broken, kept having to ask for basics like toilet paper, hairdryer etc.
Beautiful place just a couple blocks from the city centre. Very comfy and quiet. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and provide any help you might need. Very much appreciated was the possibility of an early check in after spending all night on a bus. Last but not least: drinking water and a kettle available at all times. And a lady will do your laundry 2 doors down. Why stay anywhere else?
Can't think of anything
This is such a hidden gem and really exceeded our expectations - the staff were all wonderful and incredibly helpful and welcoming, plus the breakfasts are delicious. Very good value compared to other places we had looked at
We felt very good taken care of, lots of recommendations to do, you can also book tours at the reception. Room is small but comfy, the garden is really nice. Also the area is very walkable and safe from the city. Breakfast is nice (but the same everyday) We decided to extend our stay for two days as we liked it so much in San Chris and Ocho Barrios!
Shower curtains, but this is very minor
Beautifully kept up , clean , tidy and with lovely verandas and garden .
Nothing
Amazing. Everything was absolutely perfect. We felt right at home from the moment we met Luis and his son (who helped me soo much answering my many questions! Muchas gracias!.) The hotel is beautiful, the vibe is great. The rooms are simple and clean and everything you need is there (and if not, you can ask, and they will surely help you, like for the hairdryer, thank you). the shampoo was so good!!!! The staff at breakfast were so nice!!! and the breakfast was tasty! I even bought their jam! the staff will help you find and book tours in the city and nearby areas - the tours are so great! And you can pay in the hotel, which is very convenient and safe!! We LOVED San Cristobal and staying in Ocho Barrios!
Our stay was too short!
eveything was perfect: friendly staff (english speaking) clean and good shower quiet and spacious room
Gorgeous restored house, excellent attention, private entrance, well equipped kitchen.
Nothing
Location. Green grass nice for yoga.Traditional style.
All good
Delicious breakfast, comfy bed, friendly staff, nice shared spaces
Would have been useful for housekeeping staff to top up our water during the stay
The most welcoming family and staff! There's nothing but smiles and warmth from them; whatever you need, they will try their best to help and make you feel right at home. It's a beautiful space with a delicious breakfast and is conveniently located. Perfect all around! Would return in a heartbeat! Fue un gran placer de haberlos conocido a ustedes :)))
Nice clean room with grassy sitting area, good people and breakfast
Had to ask for yet another blanket, flat pillow🤨 SanCris gets cold at night , had to WhatsApp for help no staff to be found
We had an incredible stay in San Cristobal de las Casas! The room was not just lovely but also incredibly comfortable (water pressure was the best we had ever!). The location was spot on, making it easy to explore the area. However, what truly made our experience exceptional was the staff. Senhor Luís and Senhor António were outstanding, going above and beyond to ensure our comfort and enjoyment. Their warmth and dedication made our stay unforgettable. We can't wait to return!
Nothing to note.
Our group loved the personal feel and family-ownership. Antonio and his family and staff were amazingly attentive and helpful.
some minor challenges with locks and keys, but they were quickly resolved.
Quiet nice guesthouse, 10 minute walk to the centre. Possibility to book there a tour, for example to the overwhelming Cañon de Sumidero with pick up at the hotel.
Good location, though it is still about 15 minutes walking to the main plaza. The house we had was big and had all we needed. Antonio is the best, he is very nice and willing to help with everything. There are nice places to sit outside and in the lobby.
It was cold in the house which made everything a bit damp.
Great room and great friendly and helpful staff.
We were there for 10 days. The breakfasts were good but there was not enough variety.
Very nice stay in San Cristobal. Outstanding, helpful staff, they are used to guests going to the organized trips so there is no problem with leaving baggage. They even offer take away sandwich in place of breakfast! Breakfast is tasty and quite big, but the same every day. The public space is nicely done and spacious, so you don't feel the problem of the small room.
The weather was rainy and cold, so that may be the cause of it, but the room was extraordinary humid. Maybe there should be more ventilation.
The host was very friendly, it felt like we were visiting an old friend. The breakfast was nice as well. Good location. I'd definitely stay here again.
The room and the bed were quite small, and there was no noise insulation, but I find it to be a common thing in Mexico considering this price range. And it wouldn't deter me from staying here again.
Super clean, centric, lovely
Every detail
We picked one of the rooms with garden view (room 8 or Santa Lucía), it was pretty nice, the bed was comfy, linen in pristine condition, spacey bathroom with basic toiletries. All in order with the room. The hotel was originally a beautiful, big house nowadays expanded and partitioned into hotel rooms, a second building is placed by the entrance with smaller rooms, plus a full house (rented for a whole family or group) with its own veranda, hammock, garden, entrance and all the works. Having said that, the big treat comes with service: both the owner (Antonio) and the staff are amazing guests, not only friendly, knowledgeable and easy talkers, they really get out of their way to help you. They are flexible when responding to your needs, and client-oriented, you actually feel pampered. A simple example: I am vegan, and there were no (evident) vegan options in the breakfast menu. All possibilities were egg plus something (ham, mushrooms, cheese, etc) in the shape of an omelet or scrambled. Apart from that, they offer fruit, coffee and the most amazing home-made mango marmalade in a small pot with toast. So, I thought I could perfectly make do with all that and call it a breakfast. But the all of a sudden I was served mushrooms cooked with tomato, onions and herbs, perfectly vegan and, honestly, quite yummy. So, it was a treat, a great surprise, and I appreciated how they accommodated to my needs. Location is another plus, you are within walking distance to most attractions in San Cristóbal, with the perk of not being in the noisy, super hectic touristy blocks. You just walk a couple of blocks and you find yourself in the middle of the historical district's art galleries, sophisticated cafeterias, restaurants offering food from lots of world and local cuisines, etc. We really had a fantastic time there. Thanks!
Nothing, everything was great.
we liked the little apartment were we stayed whit a fireplace and a porch with a nice little garden ,very well mantain mexican style rustic hacienda, we really loved that is a walking distance to the center, the plaza and the artesanal market, everithing is on walking distance very close to the andador as well (pedentrian turistic area restaurants shop bars and nightlife)we will definitely stay there again!! and very nice staff as well thanks! ps good internet 60mega! street parking very secure and quiet area alwais available spaces.
is perfect
Everything. Prívate entrance to The apartament. Also the staff was fantastic. Really helpful, caring and nice to us, specially Luis. The house is fantastic, the kitchen is perfect.
Everything was perfect.
Clean & excellent staff
Location (10min. from Zócalo)
Ocho Barrios was far better than expected! The staff was very attentive, meeting our needs above and beyond expectation. We travel to San Cristobal at least 6 times per year for holidays, and although this was our first time staying at this property we will certainly stay there for all future trips.
The only thing that would make Ocho Barrios better would be locating it closer to the square..
Antonio, who is in charge of the place, is a charming man and he will look after you. The staff really make the place. I ought to mention Mario in this dispatch who keeps the place ticking. The garden areas, with sweet smelling jasmine, tables and chairs make it a convivial area.
Although it was fairly quite and peaceful when I was there, I suspect that in the high season, when the place is full, noise, for light sleepers could be a problem. All the rooms are arranged around the reception area and two separate bits of garden.
beautiful little escape right on the edge of the busy area in San Cristobal.
a little noisy with building work going on, but perfect and great value aside from that!
Really loved staying at Ocho Barrios. Super friendly hosts, a quiet and relaxing retreat, very clean with good wifi, hot water and comfy bed. I really enjoyed the location in short walking distance to the centre yet far enough removed to be away from the busiest hustle. Would definitely stay here again.
Everything was great! Treatment from the staff, comfortable room, nice hot shower, good WiFi connection.
Nothing. Room was small, but it didn't take anything away from our stay.
It’s an property with a very beautiful setting in the courtyard and garden, the little tradition touches made out stay much better than anything we have stayed in previously. The staff/family were so friendly and helpful.
Delicious breakfast The owner was exceptionally helpful and caring.
the staff is super friendly! you feel really welcome. the location is great, you need like 10 min walk to the main plaza. stores, restaurants and bars are like 2 min away.
you can hear quite a lot of noises from the other guests.
The staff were helpful and friendly and lovely - quite perfect. The breakfasts were simple but good. Our 2 bedroom house right in the hotel complex was great for us size wise. We didnt use the kitchen. The wifi was good. Both bedrooms had a lot of blankets as the house was chilly in the evening.
Our only negative was that the house was cold and smelled a bit like mildew. We didnt see any, and it looked clean, but did have a funky smell. We think maybe it was the wood cupboards. We thought a heater would have been nice, because the fireplace wasnt in use. We needed it. The bathroom took a bit of getting used to because of the windows and cool evenings.
Very friendly and helpful staff, which is one nice family. They are genuinely wanting to help you with anything and make your stay comfortable. Quite location.
The normal room bed is a little bit smaller than expected, but luckily the room with the larger bed was also still available so we could swap.
We loved the location - close enough. The staff were outstanding and helpful - we really loved the staff. Antonio was so friendly and a perfect host. The breakfast didnt have much variety but was tasty and perfect for our stay. We were very happy with our stay overall.
We stayed in the Casa Mexicana - the 2 bedroom house. The house was comfortable for sleeping, but was very chilly by afternoon with no way to heat it up, and had a musty smell that permeated the air. This was our only negative experience there, but the staff made up for the chilliness, and smell.
