Reviewed Jul 17, 2026It was a great location with lots of free street parking. The host provided an abundance of breakfast items which was much more than I had expected or needed. The room was nice and warm with a very comfortable bed and pillows. The shower was great and there was a lovely little sitting room with a breakfast nook.
The check in time is between 5 and 9 pm which was later than I would have liked. I arrived in town at 3 pm so I had to kill a few hours before I could check in to the room.

Reviewed Feb 27, 2026Craig was a superb host for this property situated across the road from Hamilton Lake. The property had everything you need for a comfortable stay which included a great breakfast choice. Craig contacted us prior to arrival to see what type of milk and bread we would like. Victoria street which is less than 5minutes drive away has a vast number of restaurants. This place is also ideally situated to visit the famous Hamilton Gardens.
Nothing really but be aware, if you have difficulties with steps/stairs you need to go down a number to get to accommodation within Craig’s house.

Reviewed Jan 24, 2026We were welcomed at the property by wonderful people (apologies for forgetting names). Very clean and tidy. We were very happy with the unit. Amazing breakfast choices (yes more than one. I would highly recommend to Travellers looking for a clean, comfortable stay.
We were a little disappointed that it was located in the basement area, so no scenery, despite this it was still a comfortable stay.

Reviewed Jan 20, 2026Every detail of the house was filled with love; the bed and bedding, the shower water pressure, and other facilities were all unbeatable. It was a 5-minute walk to the heart of Lake Hamilton. The 3 days went by quickly, but the wonderful memories will last forever. May God continue to protect everything you are doing.

Overall the unit was quite small and being below street level there wasn't a decent sized window nor a view, so, over a longer stay, it could possibly feel a little claustrophobic. That said Twee Tuis is highly recommended.

Would have been less confusing was it obvious this property was part of someone's home. It worked - with it's own access and separate from the rest of the house. Was a surprise though.

Reviewed May 29, 2025A full downstairs apartment, not just a room (I got the private queen option). Hosts were very kind and responsive, but their place is fantastic. Better appointed than a Marriott! Large bathroom and shower, with a towel warmer? Wow. Comfy carpet was so nice after days of hiking. A private lounge with a full set of continental breakfast options. This is now my preferred stay in Hamilton.
Flannel winter sheets were on, but weather was warm during my stay late May, so maybe a bit early to switch to them. Easy enough to cool the room to compensate.

The real surprise was to discover that the accommodation consists of several rooms: a bedroom and a living room with TV, armchairs, a small desk and a small food corner with a refrigerator and microwave. Basically, breakfast is self-service and everything is always available right in the room. Extremely convenient!
Note that the rooms are located at -1, so expect less sun light than usual, if this is an issue for you.

Reviewed Feb 13, 2025Craig is a very friendly host and was very helpful with the check-in and you can feel that he puts a lot of care in this place. The place you're staying is basically a small basement apartment with a bedroom, bathroom and small breakfast/living area. the location is very nice, across from a big park/lake and walking distance from the center. It's the perfect place if you want to do sightseeing around this part of the northern island. The breakfast area is nicely stocked.

Reviewed Nov 11, 2024This is a slightly unusual B&B, very clean and very comfortable, handy for town, very good Continental breakfast, friendly and helpful hosts. It has only roadside parking, and, being on the side of a hill, steep stairs down to the front door with further stairs down to the basement flat. The lack of a TV could be a blessing or an annoyance depending on your point of view.

Reviewed Oct 13, 2024Location was nice and close to Waikato Hospital. The room was very quiet, comfortable, warm and clean. Craig was very welcoming when we arrived and the whole process was easy. It was fabulous to have breakfast sorted with cereals, yoghurt, toast, spreads, a selection of coffee and tea, milk and even Up and Go protein drinks! They have thought of everything you would need especially if you needed to make regular trips up to the hospital. Thank you Craig for a fabulous and easy place to stay when there are other stresses going on in life!
The only thing is maybe a TV in the room would have been good.

The lack of good size windows is fine for a short stay, but I am very used to having garden and sky views.

Reviewed Sep 19, 2024The location is perfect. Easy to be found. Just by the side of the Hamilton Lake Domain, which has beautiful lake view and comfortable walk lane. Parking friendly. The rooms are really really nice. one bedroom, one bathroom & one lovely living room. Just like a comfortable home. Comfortable bed. Comfortable towels. And the breakfast is generous. I like the decoration of the rooms, which indicates a very simplify & elegant lifestyle of the host.

The separate and quiet living space was perfect with all one needed, a comfortable bedroom and bed, lovely bathroom and seating area with kitchen amenities and a good variety of breakfast goodies, tea, coffee and snacks. It was very clean, neat and tidy and I would gladly recommend it and will definitely visit again. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. My stay was very pleasurable.
