Had a lovely stay in Forest Hill’s Lodge this weekend. Donal was very friendly and couldn’t have done enough for us. The room was lovely and clean and the beds was so comfy! Perfect location also. Would definitely recommend. Thanks so much

Super accueil de Dylan, chaleureux et de bons conseils sur le restaurant du soir et la visite de Newgrange. Endroit au calme et facile d'accès (facile de se garer dans la rue). Dylan nous a accueilli à la porte avec un grand sourire et un shot de whisky distillé a Slane et le frigo de la chambre était rempli. Vraiment au top

Good location

Bed and pillows weren't particularly comfortable.

Donal greeted us warmly and welcomed us with a glass of whiskey. The room was perfect for a one night stay with a cozy bed and fridge with water, juice and lovely scones for our breakfast which was laid out in the room for us for the morning.

Lots of hairs on bedroomand bathroom floors. No wardrobe or anywhere to hang clothes.Breakfast was left on table in bedroom Breakfast consisted of orange juice which was nice,cornflakes and 2 scones which were in fridge in bedroom.

Conveniently located. The room was clean and well appointed. On street parking. Nice neighborhood. Donal was a great host and offered us a lovely bit of Slane Whiskey upon arrival.

Room was a bit hard to navigate for a 6ft tall person, but that was the room we selected.

The breakfast was scones and cornflakes in a mini fridge in the room, we expected a hot breakfast in a dining room as is the case with most B&Bs. We were in an attic room with extremely low head height and the blind on the window was stuck in the closed position

The owner is nice

The room was horrendous, is o loft conversion with a tiny window, very dark and uncomfortable, bathroom was dirty, bed very uncomfortable, no good for tall people was roof is not high enough. Maybe good for a kid but not for an adult specially not for a couple.

Room 3 has a low ceiling for a 6 ft person, but otherwise had everything we needed and we had a great stay

BREAKFAST THE MOST BASIC I HAVE EVER EATEN. SHOWER ROOM VERY LOW CEILING. ROOM NEEDS A GOOD DEEP.CLEAN.....GROSSLY OVERPRICED ...I WONT BE STAYING AGAIN OR RECOMMENDING TO ANYONE.

Advertised as bed and breakfast, to me that means full irish. Not a bowl of corn flakes and a scone in your room. Advert should have made that clear. Would not have booked had I known.

Before we arrived, Donal, the host, made sure he knew what time we were going to show up and made a point of being there to greet us, with a shot of the local Slane whiskey! What a treat! Our room was sort of like the attic of this house built by Donal, not big but very cozy, with everything we needed, including our own bathroom. The house contains several other rooms for rent, in different sizes, I believe. Our bed was very comfortable with a skylight directly above for stargazing if the conditions were right. There were scones, cereals, milk, orange juice, and coffee for breakfast. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay there and appreciated Donal's hospitality. He even recommended and helped us make a reservation for dinner at this fantastic local restaurant called Inside Out at the last minute. We really enjoyed that. This turned out to be the perfect place to stay for our visit to the nearby Newgrange.

Donal was an excellent host and made me feel welcome straight away. The room was comfortable, clean and tidy, and the shower nice and hot. Will definitely come back!

We stayed the night as we were attending a wedding nearby and Donal was such a nice and welcoming host! He greeted us with a taste of Slane whiskey which was delicious (now a convert!) The room was very comfortable and included a lovely breakfast of cereal, orange juice and scones. An ideal place to stay right in the centre of town. Would highly recommend.

Donal the owner is absolutely great in welcoming you and sharing information and tips about what to discover in the area. Really nice guy. Pubs and restaurants at a walking distance.

The room is a bit small but it was not a problem for us

Donal was a lovely host, he was friendly and very accommodating , he went above and beyond when I couldn’t get a taxi. The house was nice , clean and quiet. Would recommend to others 😊

Der Gastgeber war sehr zuvorkommend, freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir konnten zu Fuß in den Ort gehen. Es war ruhig. Nach Newgrange war es nicht weit.

Das Bad war nicht geputzt und schmutzig. Es waren noch Haare in der Dusche. Das Toilettenbecken, das Waschbecken und der Fußboden im Bad waren verdreckt. Das Dachflächenfenster war voller Vogelkot. Das Zimmer war sehr eng. Das Frühstück war seh knapp. Ein Kühlschrank mit Saft, Milch und Wasser wurden am Vorabend gefüllt. Es ein Gebäck pro Person sowie Cornflakes, sowie Butter und Marmelade. Auf die beengten Verhältnisse wurden wir in einer Mail nach der Buchung hingewiesen.

I booked a room for 2 nights. It was just under the roof, the bed was comfy and it was really cosy. I feel like home especially thank to the owner because he was friendly and welcoming. I reccomand it.

The property was fabulous, Donal and his wife are lovely people he is full of knowledge and I thoroughly enjoyed our little chats about the towns history he is an absolute gentleman

Der Gastgeber "Donal" ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Bei der Ankunft gibt's zur Begrüßung gleich einen Whisky der örtlichen Slane-distillery. Donal gibt Informationen, Tips und Empfehlungen zum Essen und zu Ausflügen, Parkmöglichkeiten und alles was man so braucht.

Leider haben wir nur noch das Dachgeschoss Zimmer bekommen, und es war schon sehr eng unter der Dachschräge. Wir wussten von der Dachschräge über dem Bett, aber dass das Zimmer so klein war, hat uns etwas überrascht. Ebenso wie das Frühstück am Zimmer. Insgesamt war es aber trotzdem ganz ok.

Die Lage war hervorragend. Ruhig gelegen und in der Nähe vieler interessanter und besuchenswerter Orte. Dank der wertvollen Tipps unseres aufmerksamen Vermieters lernten wir die sehenswerte Klosterruine Slane Abbey kennen und konnten unseren Besuch in Newgrange anschließend auch noch genießen, obwohl dort im Internet bereits für Wochen ausgebucht war.

Die Dachschräge war etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber für eine Nacht kein Problem.

The breakfast was ok. What is supplied is adequate for when you wake up and before you plan to get a good lunch. Please double check the freshness of the cereal though.

The room were obviously very compact, slanted roofs would be difficult for taller people. But the shower worked and was hot.

The host was very helpful and enthusiastic. Shots of Slane Irish whiskey were much appreciated.

Rooms are a tiny bit cramped if you have much luggage.

Location was very convenient for what we needed and Donal was an excellent host. Nice place!

We were in an attic room on the 3rd level with sloping ceiling that we couldn't stand up in. Very small with no room to open up suitcases and have room to walk. The breakfast part was a small refrig with milk and muffins. Small table with 2 bowls, two mugs, bags to make tea/coffee (and sugar) and a pot to boil water. This may have been in description but we thought it was a hot breakfast in a dining room.

Donal, our host, was as welcoming as you could wish. He even recommended an excellent restaurant (Inside Out) and rang to get us a booking The bed was comfy and the room clean and well-appointed. Breakfast was simple, left in the room's fridge overnight, but we weren't hungry when we'd finished. A good place for short stays like ours while on tour.

For a room advertised as a "Superior King Room", it was not as large as one might expect. While one of us had a bedside light and table, something similar at the other side would have been nice, although that side was against the wall - a bit of 'invention' required.

Everything was perfect, from the host to the location and the room. Small room perfectly laid out. Cold water and oj in the fridge, scones from the local patisserie, cereal tea and coffee in the room for breakfast. Would highly recommend Forest Hills Lodge. We will be back.

The host met us with a proper Irish welcome. He quickly called to reserve a spot 5 minutes walk away. He showed us everything personally. It was lovely to have to have our own little breakfast nook with food supplied before heading out for the day.

The Lodge is actually a cramped converted attic. No TV- No closet- No window - No egress . Breakfast was mini fridge on wheels with liquids. No expiration dates. No idea if sanatized between guests or just topped off and recapped. No private parking- street only and mind the curb. Donal is honest about amenities - just double check for yourself what’s missing before booking

We had a lovely welcome.

He was very welcoming and made us enjoy our stay there was really caring for our needs and even leaving still made sure we can get to him anytime and we are safe. Would recommend to everyone really beautiful place and welcoming.

Donal is friendly and very helpful. Great tips on places to eat locally and local history and walk trails. Slane is a great place full of history and extremely friendly people. David the Butcher (produce looked delicious but i was only in for a chat). John and Myrka the publicans at Boyle's were so friendly to a solo traveller. are 2 examples of the fabulous welcoming people in Slane. The staff at Bruna Boine visitors center also great.

Attic bedroom is very small but comfortable. Despite the sign i did bang my head several times each day. Bedroom was only space available to guests in the house. On a rainy miserable weather day a nice comfy chair to sit and read in or look out the window would have been very welcome. Breakfast was OK. Would have liked to have a bit more variety than just corn flakes. OJ and cold scones with no means to heat them up. Everything was fresh and renewed daily. For a one night stay Forest Hill lodge is a good option.

We attended a wedding in Slane and the room was absolutely perfect for what we needed. Donal also kindly gave us a lift to the venue. Highly recommend staying here.

Donal is a wonderful host. He was extremely knowledgeable of the area and provided many wonderful tips on how to get the most out of our trip. The scones were wonderful as well. Would definitely book a stay there again. It was located in the middle of everything.

There was Cornflakes and milk in the fridge also some scones with fresh orange juice and milk plus water in the fridge for making tea/coffee, the only down side was the room we had was a pitched roof and my husband is 6ft 2 tall and kept banging his head.
