Nico was a wonderful host who made us feel welcome from the very start. The kitchen is well equipped, and everything is spotless and tidy. The room is comfortable, and the shower has excellent pressure. More than comfortable — 100% recommended. The location is very convenient, and I was able to park my car inside, safely covered under a roof for added convenience

Lovely sized room that was clean and tidy. Bathroom was across the corridor from the room. It was a very clean bathroom and the shower was very powerful. Parking was under a car port and there was a table and chairs outside each room to enjoy the beautiful view. Hoping to stay for another night when in Whangarei.

I could not find a way to make a drink, if a kettle was available I did not find it. I would have gone out for a coffee, but my flight had been delayed and it was already late in the evening.

This is my second stay at this property. I was very satisfied with the room and the amenities that encompassed the relaxation I looked forward to embracing after a full-on day away from home.

I stumbled on the back steps up to the rear deck at night, so perhaps just a small modification to the existing auto-lighting system is required.

When I arrived at the property, I was greatly impressed with the interior layout. It was comfy and homely.

I did not like that the main door was locked and I could not get in. It was dark, I didn't have my phone on me to call the owner, but went downstairs and bothered another resident. He rang the owner for me. I spoke with Cindy who is very helpful but did not know how to unlock the lock box. The other resident helped me again. Because I couldn't get in through the front door I did manage to get in through the bedroom door. However, that is only minor compared to the whole weekend of my stay. I can't wait to come back. The room is comfortable and kept it warm (we stayed in May). Cindy and Schalk are amazing! For us who are super shy, they explained us everything and made us feel welcome. The toilet is not in the room, but is just for you so it was perfect. You can use the kitchen if you like and there is a lot of space for parking. Last but not least, the view from the room is amazing!

Room was pretty compact sized, didn't have sufficient space to fit two medium luggages, 1 small hand carry luggage and 1 backpack. We had to use most of the floor space and wardrobe space. Given the limited room space, we had to maximize every available space. Hence, we didn't have a space within the room to use our laptops for work purposes comfortably without distractions.

Had a little difficultly obtaining access code prior to arrival and unable to reach via ph but had internet which provided details when I again contacted them on arrival.

I couldn’t recommend staying with Cindy and Scott enough !! They were such great host and I had a super fun night ‘with them and the other guest that were here that night ! The place is very clean and the bed was amazing. Felt at home immediately, plus the view is also very nice. I’ll def come back even just to say hi to them ! Thank you for the fun night and great conversations again Cindy and Scott, yall are so kind !!

The hosts made me feel completely at home. It was a very a nice, easy and comfortable stay. And the view from the deck was fantastic.

I would have liked it better if the bathroom was attached to my room. But it was no big deal.

Disappointed that the bathroom was not ensuite, it doesn’t make it clear that that is the case. I’m in my 70’s and need to get up in the night sometimes more than once, trying to get up the hall was a hassle.

A perfectly comfortable place to stay en route to the Bay of Islands having arrived in Auckland airport after a long journey. The owners are very friendly, welcoming and communicative. Great views from the property.

My partner and l stayed for a week. Our hosts are welcoming and considerate. The room and bathroom are spotless, which is well above NZ average. We enjoyed our time over there. If you don't drive like us, you may find it a bit hard to walk up the hill each day, but it's a good exercise.

Close proximity to Whangarei Basin and Township. Elevated Property, so a lovely view overlooking.

The location was perfect, 5mn away from the city centre. The room was cozy and had everything we needed.

The bed was comfortable.

The place was advertised as a room with a private bathroom and a desk. There was no desk. More importantly, the bathroom was not private! We arrived rather late, at 9:30 pm. We turned on our phone lights and found our way up the stairs to the deck. We managed to unlock the lock box and got the key to our room. The room was small but the bed was comfortable. We looked for the bathroom but found only a bathroom with a shower. Our room instructions included this: Please note the bathroom with the bathtub will be your dedicated bathroom. All other doors in the hallway were closed and locked. We searched but found no other bathroom. However, when we returned from our car after gathering our bags, we heard water rushing outside. It was a bathtub being emptied! Inside, a door that had previously been closed, was open. There was our bathroom with the bathtub! Someone had just taken a bath! The room was wet, steamy and smelled strongly of body odor! We have stayed in hostels before as we love to travel inexpensively. But hostels indicate whether there is a shared or private bathroom. We reserved a room with a private bath and definitely did not get what we paid for. We left early the next morning withour ever seeing another person! And there were no check out instructions! I cannot recommend this place.

Superb accommodation and great value for money. I didn't meet my hosts who were out for the night, but the instructions for my stay were clear and easy to follow. I enjoyed my stay and wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Excellent apartment with wrap around balcony. Use of big kitchen and lounge plus very friendly hosts. Whats not to like! .

Beautiful homely atmosphere, very clean, comfy bed and amazing water pressure in the shower! Cindy and Schalk are very kind and friendly hosts, it was the perfect place for me to stay while attending a course for work, but tourists would also love it.

Not that I minded this but just a note that while you have your own bathroom it isn’t attached to the room- you need to cross the hallway to access. As I say this didn’t bother me but just good to be aware.
