The breakfast was very good with cereal, muffins as well as a cooked plate. A good location to visit the Fort. I was very , very glad that they had a generator when there was a power cut because of the storm.

The Inn was exceptionally clean and the room as well as the other common areas of the Inn were nicely decorated. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was well beyond expectations and superb.

The Inn was absolutely perfect, friendly staff who went out of their way to make us feel at home. The location was amazing, 5 minutes from the gates of Fort Louisbourg. A spotless, comfortable home away from home.

The breakfast was very very good. This is a fun older house to stay in. Enjoyed our stay.

Centrally located and easy to find. The location has a huge amount of victorian-era charm. Breakfast was plentiful, colourful and delicious. Our room had a huge jacuzzi tub great for a long soak after a day of exploring. Host had lots of helpful recommendations for local shopping and eateries. Would definitely stay there again!

In my mind's eye I have a picture of an ideal B&B: large old robber baron's house, with superior craftsmanship, Edwardian décor, and modern plumbing. This is all that and more. The location is excellent: literally within walking distance of Louisbourg (depending on how energetic you feel). The owners are very nice; it's so apparent they put care and effort into the house. The place is clean and very well-maintained. The atmosphere is wonderful with sitting rooms and period-appropriate furniture. It's even painted a bright cranberry, so it's easy to find. The breakfast is extensive and fresh fruit intensive; after a week of road food, this was very welcome indeed. There is even a little snack table. Highly recommended.

The toilet in our room occasionally stuck open when refilling (I was going to mention it to the owner but forgot). There are just the two of them serving breakfast, so they're very busy for a short period of time - not really a negative.

Great location if you are planning a trip to the Fortress of Louisbourg as it's less than 5 minutes away. This is a charming, immaculate cozy place to stay and the breakfast was excellent! Close to the restaurant SpoonDrift- lunch was so good we went back that night to have dinner there as well! Friendly hosts.

We stayed in the Captain Inn room. It was outstanding. Bed was extremely comfortable. The room had jacuzzii style bath tub which my wife loved. All room amenities were great. The full breakfast is served by the owners and is exceptional. Best value in Louisbourg for sure.

Absolutely nothing! Everything was perfect!

I liked the ambiance of the Inn. The lady who greeted us showed us where to find tea, coffee, cookies, and extra water. She gave us a little rundown of the Inn and basically made sure that we were aware to be as comfortable as we wanted. She explained the breakfast and helped us with the TV. The rooms were spotless and the breakfast was great.

There was nothing I did not like. I was visiting the fortress and going to the Bothy restaurant for the evening so everything was so close and convenient.

The location was ideal to visit the fortress. The house is beautiful and well looked after. Our room was large with a comfortable bed and a good bathroom. However there is very little Choice in the town for places to eat. The breakfast was copious and very taste, with lots of choices, if slightly disorganized.

Located a stone's throw from the Louisbourg fortress reception area. Every room has a theme and is decorated accordingly. The downstairs area is remarkable with vintage furniture, a library and a 24 hour coffee area all tastefully decorated to make you feel at home in luxury. The staff is outstanding. Breakfast is included in the price and includes a serving of fresh fruit and a hot meal served at the table by the staff in a marvelous dining room setting. As a seasoned traveler I would recommend this place to anybody travelling to this area and the price is unbeatable.

Rosie and Glenn do such a wonderful job of welcoming their guests. We stayed in two different rooms (top price and bottom price) and enjoyed both of them, although we both preferred the coziness of the top-floor "Captain's Den". Glenn does a great job with the hot and cold breakfasts. We will definitely be back! PS The Fortress at Louisbourg is a must visit, and allow yourselves several hours.

The town itself needs a little help, although that is not a criticism of the inn. Three good to great restaurants to choose from.

Location, excellent breakfast, very clean and floors looked new - really meticulously clean.

Strong suffocating smell in entrance that permeated the sitting room- should be scent free and I literally was wheezing. Glen didn’t tell us they don’t turn on the faux fireplace in summer, didn’t know that that the bathroom room fan switch and timer was NOT for the jacuzzi and told us not to turn it on unless the tub was full! Also never showed us how to use the jacuzzi (easy to figure out though ). The sofa bed in Captain’s Den room is NOT fit for anyone to sleep on - I had to build a bed it of the sofa cushions. This isn’t an ocean view- they don’t take care to dry out the chairs on veranda so one may sit down.

Beautiful home, beautiful people! Coffee, water, tea and snacks available (nice touch). Very clean and comfortable! Highly recommend!

We’ve done several trips to Nova Scotia and traveled all around. This was the best place we’ve ever stayed in Nova Scotia, hands-down. The bed was super comfortable. The decoration was cozy, quaint, and elegant. At the same time. The breakfast was done by a chef, it was amazing. And the common areas are lovely and invite you to stay and sit a while.

The breakfast was good. One choice for entree, but well made. Location was good for us. Good recommendation from the host for dinner in the area.

Top notch breakfast, attention to detail, and friendly staff.

We were not in a breakfast mood so we did not eat, but we saw the plates of eggs Benedict and the other items and the breakfast offerings were indeed wonderous to behold. Our only additional thought is just an awareness that the Inn is a three story structure, with 36 stairs from the ground floor beginning of the staircase up to the third floor landing, where we were assigned. The staircase is somewhat narrow and anyone with physical issues would have difficulty getting up and down, especially with luggage. The owner did offer to help us with our bags, and the staff (owner included) was uniformly excellent, very welcoming and highly professional. All in all an excellent stop with a lovely and spacious room and lovely antiques throughout the house.

No complaints---the staircase is unavoidable.
